boog23 Posted January 17, 2009 Share Posted January 17, 2009 I just got home from a meeting with the good folks at South Florida University, interviewing for their head coaching position. You see, I've been an offensive coordinator for some time now and I'm looking to make my mark in the college game. I've been around some, starting at Idaho, then onto Ball State and finally finishing at Cincinatti. I'm fully capable of handling this job. Hell, it's not like they have much to lose after going 4-7. It was a grind, that's for sure. I got asked questions that I've never been asked before. Some were way out there. When it finally came down to it though, I think I delivered with what they wanted to hear. Anyway, like I was saying. I walked into my house and no sooner had I put my coat in the closet when my phone rang. My wife answered it and yelled for me to pick it up. On the other end was South Florida Athletic Director Antowaine Folsum. "Good news, Steve. You had a superb interview and everyone loved you. I'm glad to tell you, we've chosen you as our new head coach." Oh my god! This is such great news. I know I've got some work to do, but hey, I've got to start somewhere and there's no other place I can think of that I would rather be then in South Florida! I'm so excited when I get off the phone that I can't help but turn on the computer and start looking at the current roster that I have. We've got a few good players coming back, but nothing that absolutely blows my mind. I finish looking over the roster when I take a look at the staff. I don't like any of them, so I'll be bringing in my own guys. On offense, I love the Run-and-Gun. I'm not a big running guy. Rather, I love when the ball is flung around. Derrick Smith is a specialist with the Run-and-Gun. Hopefully, he'll except our offer and become a Bull. Defensively, I'm a 3-4 guy. I like to have the backers fly around and make tackles. I know it's not a good formation to get pressure up front, but then again, I love to blitz blitz blitz. P.J. Adams is a 38 year old coordinator who much like me, is itching for a chance to show what he can do. Well, I'm giving him an oppurtunity to do that. Just except the offer P.J.. After giving it much thought, I've decided to keep the previous Special Teams coach, Joaquinn Bell. He's a solid motivator that has some skills in developing special teamers. Hopefully, he'll be up to the task of turning this thing around. A day or two goes by and boom. I got calls back to back from first Adams and then Smith saying they were more then happy to accept our offers. That's great news. We've got our staff intact now. We, as a group, now need to turn our attention to the recruiting period. We got the list of potential transfers and it's an impressive list. Unfortunately, it's littered with good running backs. As I've already said, we aren't gonna be a big running team, so after consulting with the staff, we've decided to not offer any transfers at this time. We'll hit the sunshine state hard, but I won't limit us to just Florida. I would like to venture into Georgia, Alabama and the Carolinas. We don't have a whole lot of cash to spend ($27,125), so we'll have to spend our money wisely. Player Profile: Rod Millburn Position: Defensive End Height: 6'7 Weight: 244 lbs School: Belen Jesuit Prep (Miami, Florida) Year: Freshman GPA: 2.0 Rank: #797 National / #214 Regional / #60 Position / #19 Regional Position Stats: 59 Tackles / 10 Sacks / 10 Tackles for Loss / 2 INT / 3 FF / 2 Def. TD Rod is the type of player that we could use down in South Florida. A big bruiser that can rush the passer or play the run. Rod really has a knack for the ball. The knock on him is he's not very aggressive at the moment. Hopefully, with time, that will change. Oh, I don't really like where his grades are right now either. Still, I'm convinced to continue to recruit him. Player Profile: Chris Detmer Position: Offensive Tackle Height: 6'2 Weight: 296 lbs School: Rutland (Macon, Georgia) Year: Freshman GPA: 2.5 Rank: #1061 National / #283 Regional / #61 Position / #14 Regional Position Stats: None Chris wouldn't only fill a need for us, but he's a quality player. The first player not hailing from Florida, Detmer is one of the hardest workers coming into college this year, so the experts feel like he'll only get better. Chris would be a welcome addition for us. Hell, he would possibly see major minutes right out of the gate. Player Profile: Tupe Biekert Position: Inside Linebacker Height: 6'0 Weight: 243 lbs School: Killian (Miami, Florida) Year: Freshman GPA: 2.3 Rank: #864 National / #227 Regional / #51 Position / #15 Regional Position Stats: 65 Tackles / 6 Sacks / 5 Tackles for Loss / 2 Pass Deflection / 1 Forced Fumbles Tupe is the type of player that every coach loves. Currently, he's listed at Inside Linebacker, but I could see a move to Outside Backer consider the speed he possesses (4.55). More known for his pass coverage abilities, I think he'd be a awesome fit into our 3-4 base defense. Player Profile: Everson McClain Position: Inside Linebacker Height: 6'2 Weight: 212 lbs School: Hamilton County (Jasper, Florida) Year: Freshman GPA: 3.2 Rank: #905 National / #237 Regional / # 54 Position / #17 Regional Position Stats 71 Tackles / 9 Sacks / 9 Tackles for Loss / 2 Pass Deflections / 2 INT / 2 Forced Fumbles / 2 Defensive TD The second linebacker we're after is probably the better of the two. He's a hard working kid on the field and in the classroom. McClain doesn't possess as much speed as Biekhart (4.57), but still, he's got a knack for making the big play. Everson has got speed, agility and quickness. More importantly, he's got brains. I really like this kid. Player Profile: James Kruczek Position: Wide Receiver Height: 6'3 Weight: 172 lbs School: Barron Collier (Naples, Florida) Year: Freshman GPA: 2.1 Rank: #935 National / #246 Regional / #131 Position / #30 Regional Position Stats: 58 Receptions / 866 yards / 12 TD / 317 rush yards / 5.0 Avg. James is a talented receiver that can catch the ball over the middle or go down the sidelines. He's got good size at 6'3 to go along with 4.55 speed. He was a productive reciever in high school that got better as his high school career progressed. Hopefully, that'll continue in college for us. Player Profile: Brian Keating Position: Quarterback Height: 6'1 Weight: 192 lbs School: Coral Springs (Coral Springs, Florida) Year: Freshman GPA: 3.4 Rank: #983 National / #259 Regional / #51 Position / #14 Regional Position Stats: 65% Completion / 3731 passing yards / 24 TD / 12 INT / 165 rushing yards / 3.9 Avg. Brian isn't the prototypical QB that I usually go after, but his numbers are something that I just can't get over. He's got speed (4.52) and mobility that I just can't turn down. He won't have a problem in the classroom becuase of his work ethic. Keating has all the skills in the world, which he may need considering our offensive line is shady at best. Player Profile: Joe Jackson Position: Defensive Tackle Height: 6'8 Weight: 253 lbs School: Washington (Pensacola, Florida) Year: Freshman GPA: 3.6 Rank: #981 National / #257 Regional / #60 Position / #16 Regional Position Stats: 51 Tackles / 5 Sacks / 15 Tackles for Loss / 1 INT / 4 Forced Fumbles / 1 Defensive TD JJ (as I'll call him) is a beast. He's a strong, quick tackle that makes opposing coaches scheme for because it seems like he's always in the oppositions back field. He's not gonna gather a whole lot of sacks, but he'll stuff the run like it's going out of style. JJ not only is a excellent athlete, but he's an excellent student as well. We could really use JJ on campus. Player Profile: John Feeley Position: Cornerback Height: 5'10 Weight: 179 lbs School: Bartram Trail (Jacksonville, Florida) Year: Freshman GPA: 3.5 Rank: #871 National / #230 Regional / #101 Position / #27 Regional Position Stats: 72 Tackles / 1 Sack / 10 Pass Deflections John is a shut down corner that isn't afraid to hit you. He's got great speed (4.47) to keep up with the elite players in the conference. Barring injuries, he should see significant time considering he's a great student in the classroom. There's a reason though he's playing corner and not receiver. I'm not gonna expect many, if any, interceptions in his career. Player Profile: Mike Boyd Position: Center Height: 6'1 Weight: 275 lbs School: Lafayette (Mayo, Florida) Year: Freshman GPA: 3.4 Rank: #778 National / #207 Regional / #25 Position / #8 Regional Postion Stats: None Mike doesn't really fill a need, yet we would be happy to have him on campus. He's a solid kid in the classroom, which is very important to us. At the moment, he's not ready to compete in the Big East, but with a full summer in a college weight room, I think he could be a solid contributor to any program. With luck, he'll be in our weight room, bulking up for next year. Player Profile: Ken Griffith Position: Offensive Tackle Height: 6'2 Weight: 321 lbs School: Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (Mississippi) Year: Junior GPA: 2.2 Rank: #612 National / #159 Regional / #33 Position / #8 Regional Position Stats: None Griffith has a problem. He's overwieght. My offensive coordinator said he would like to see him around 306 pounds, 15 pounds lighter then he currently is. Good thing for us is that he's a hard worker, so we as a staff feel like he b]can reach that target weight. Outside of that, he's a quality player that could step in and start for us right away. We've offered a scholarship to every player that we've scouted. Like I said before, we don't have a lot of cash to go around, so as you can see, 8 out of the 10 players that we've offered are from the Sunshine State. We've got some other players in mind in case these guys fall through (which I'm expecting most to). Ray Millburn and James Kruczek are just a few of the players that we're gonna have on campus. Hopefully, it'll be 80 degrees and sunny when they come. We need every advantage we can get at the moment. Week 2 of Recruiting As expected, nobody signed with us, but then again, they never do. We've got some competition for some of these guys. Tupe Biekert, Mike Boyd, Brian Keating, Rod Millburn and Ken Griffith each have an offer from Central Florida. Them bastards are going after my guys and I have a feeling that they'll get a couple of them. Chris Detmer has gained interest from Kentucky and Georgia Tech (both bigger conferences). We've got a little over 6 thousand for this weeks recruiting, so I figure why wait? Gotta get them while it's still early. Player Profile: Eddie Wells Position: Cornerback Height: 6'1 Weight: 198 lbs School: South Dade (Homestead, Florida) Year: Freshman GPA: 3.7 Rank: #638 National / #164 Regional / #68 Position / #18 Regional Position Stats: 51 Tackles / 1 Sack / 12 Pass Deflection Wells is as strong a corner as their is coming into the college game. He's got the combination of size and speed that we need to compete in the Big East. Unfortunately, we currently don't have any scholarships to offer. If one comes available and Wells is around, he'll be the first that I offer. Player Profile: Ed Perkins Position: Wide Receiver Height: 6'1 Weight: 183 lbs School: Pascagoula (Pascagoula, Mississippi) Year: Freshman GPA: 2.4 Rank: #916 National / #240 Regional / #130 Position / #29 Regional Position Stats: 58 receptions / 918 yards / 14 TD / 220 rushing yards / 6.7 Avg. / 13.9 yard punt returns Perkins is as raw as they come. He's got good size but has less then stellar speed (4.62) that coaches like to see. Still, he could turn out to be a solid possession type receiver. I don't think he'll be around for us if a scholarship opens up considering he's got offers from Alabama-Birmingham, Tulane and Southern Mississippi. Still, I've got to keep this alley open as long as I can. With those two players, we used up all our recruiting budget. Like I said, we've got to be selective with who we go after. So far, I think we're doing alright. We've got a group of players coming to South Florida. Griffith, Feeley and Jackson are the highlighted bunch. We need to get some of these guys coming our way. Nobody has picked up any other interests from schools, so tha's a good thing. We've pitched all our guys, so hopefully that'll speed up the process. Player Profile: Mario Spencer Position: Defensive End Height: 6'3 Weight: 263 lbs School: Pensacola Catholic (Pensacola, Florida) Year: Freshman GPA: 3.3 Rank: #1017 National / #270 Regional / #76 Position / #23 Regional Position Stats: 47 Tackles / 7 Sacks / 14 Tackles for Loss / 2 INT / 4 Forced Fumbles / 2 Defensive TD Mario is another player from Florida that we would love to get our hands on. He's got good size with outstanding speed for a defensive end (4.77). He's a big strong kid that can hold his own on the line. With time, he should get bigger and better. He doesn't have any offers as of yet, so hopefully us recruiting him now will pay dividens down the road. Mike Boyd is among those coming to campus this week. We've now had almost every prospect we've offered to come to South Florida for a visit. Hopefully these start to pay off. Week 4 of Recruiting Well, nobody wanted to commit, yet again. I've seroiusly got nobody left to pitch on my watchlist. With nobody committing, the recruiting money is all being used up. We've got the last bit of recruits coming to visit that we've offered. McClain and Beikert are among those coming to visit us. Since nobody seems ready to commit yet, I'll take a look at what the other teams in the Big East is doing. Pittsburgh: Looking good so far with two commits. One is a five star strong safety named Dan Conner and the other is a four star free safety named Bob Roberts. Pittsburgh is doing rather well for themselves. Cincinatti: No commits West Virginia: No commits Rutgers: No commits Connecticut: No commits Lousiville: No commits Syracuse No commits Well, it's good to know that we're not the only team in the conference struggling to get a commit. Pittsburgh looks like it'll be good, but that was expected. I keep saying it, but sooner or later, we'll get our guys. We're currently in a couple of battles for some guys, most notably Central Florida from Conference USA. We've got better prestige then they have, so hopefully that will come into play. If not, I think we'll be alright. We've got a backup plan. Week 5 of Recruiting Well, someone finally made a choice. Unfortuantely, it wasn't someone for us. Hell, it wasn't someone we had even offered. Wide Receiver Ed Perkins decided he was gonna take his game to Tulane. Tulane I think is getting a good one here. We just didn't have any room for him. With him commiting though, it cleared some money so I'll go searching for a new recruit! Player Profile: Ligarius Hennigan Position: Cornerback Height: 5'10 Weight: 179 lbs School: Wesley Chapel (Wesley Chapel, Florida) Year: Freshman GPA: 2.5 Rank: #965 National / #253 Regional / #113 Position / #31 Regional Position Stats: 70 Tackles / 4 Sacks / 7 Pass Deflections / 3 INT / 3 Defensive TD / 735 Rushing Yards / 5.3 Avg. / 13.9 Punt Return Avg. / 1 Punt Return TD Hennigan is one of the slowest corners that we've recruited this year (4.72). He makes up for speed with being a smart, inteligent player. He's always in the right spot at the right time. I don't think he played against top notch talent, so his stats could be a little padded. Right now, he would probably be out of his league, but at this point, he'd be a welcome commodity for us with the talent coming back for us. Keating and Detmer are coming to visit us this week as well. This could be a huge weekend for us considering Keating is the only Quarterback we're after and Detmer would fill a huge need for us. Today was the day for early entry. As expected, nobody from the team went (because they just aren't very good). A few players left though from Pittsburgh and West Virginia. That's nice to know, but still, we've got a lot of work to do. Another look around the conference finds some interesting results. Syracuse: The Orange picked up two commits. Inside Linebacker Dewayne Harper (4 star) and Tight End Tim Herndon (3 Star) both should help Syracuse this year and for years after that. West Virginia: Picked up a commit from four star Tight End Jim McQuivey. Pittsburgh: Picked up it's third commit. Three star Offensive Guard Corey Munson is going to play for the Panthers. Connecticut: Picked up a pair of three star commits in Running Back Pisa Wright and Wide Receiver Monroe Hopkins. Cincinatti: Three Star Defensive Tackle Ramon Ballman is taking his game to Cincy to become a Bearcat. Well, the other teams in the conference are starting to get recruits. We need to get going here or else we're gonna start to fall farther and farther behind (which we can't afford). Week 6 of Recruiting Wow, we finally got our guys (for the most part). We just got seven (7) letters sent to our office declaring that they will be playing for the South Florida Bulls! Man, I'm really starting to like this class, although we did lose a couple of key talents. We shored up our offensive line with the signing of two offensive tackles in Ken Griffith and Chris Detmer. Mike Boyd also commited, shoring up the center position for years to come. Our defense got a boost as well. Defensive Tackle Joe Jackson (JJ from now on) should help bog down the middle and let fellow recruit Inside Linebacker Everson McClain make the tackle. John Feeley also signed on to help in the secondary. The lone skill player we picked up was receiver James Kruczek. James should come in and play right away. We did however lose out on a few players, all to Central Florida. Quarterback Brian Keating, End Rod Millan and Inside Linebacker Tube Biekert all took their services elsewhere. We've now got to go out and find three players to fill the open scholarships. We've decided to offer a scholarship to Lagarius Hannigan. He's probably the best corners left for us so we'll try to nab him up. I've also decided to give a offer to Defensive End Mario Spencer. He's good in the class room and has some solid skills on the field. The third offer goes to yet another cornerback, Eddie Wells. I said that if I had a scholarship available, Wells would get it. Well, here I have one. Now he's got our offer. We don't have any important recruits coming in this week. Just some two star players that we may have to fall back on if these players start to fall through. Hopefully that doesn't happen. Week 7 of Recruiting Well, after a flurry of signings last week, nobody decided to commit. Anywhere. I guess that's good considering we're heading into the home stretch of the recruiting process. I couldn't be happier with this pick up. He's the second corner that we've gotten in this class, but hopefully not the last. Neither Spencer nor Hennigan commited so we're still waiting on them to make up their minds. With some luck, our inaugural class will be over with very shortly. Nobody of importance is coming for a visit this week. Week 9 of Recruiting Once again, nobody commits. We're left wondering when our two remaining offers will be answered. Hopefully soon. Not only does he fit a need, but he also is a superb student in the classroom. He's the exact type of player that I want a Bull to be like. That only leaves us with Hennigan not signing. Next week is the final week so it's gonna be now or never. I'm praying to god that his answer is now. Nobody of importance is coming to town. Week 11 of Recruiting Ligarius Hennigan is now coming to South Florida! I couldn't be happier with the class coming in for next year. We don't have a lot of big name players coming in. We've filled it with a bunch of hard working kids that are gonna be successful both on the field and inside the classroom. With recruiting now done, we look back at what we have and can't help but be proud of the kids that we got. I know a couple got away, but we filled in for them nicely. I'm pumped to get ready, but before any work can get done on the field, we have a few decisions to make off it. We've allocated our budget already. We've decided to go with Southern Cooking Scouting Service. They're known for their scouting of the South East, which once again, is where we're gonna stay around. We've decided to go with the 3-4 defense (as I've already stated). It's probably not the best defensive formation for us, but the kids have got to get used to running it sometime. What better time then the present? I can't think of one. On offense, yep you guess it. We're going to go with the Run-and-Gun. Our receivers will need to grow up fast but I think we've got a capable QB who can run the thing. Our offense will have to carry our defense this year. Schedule Week 1: Akron Week 2: Central Florida Week 3: Florida Atlantic Week 4: @ Syracuse Week 5: Open Week 6: Louisville Week 7: @ Cincinatti Week 8: Open Week 9: West Virginia Week 10: Connecticut Week 11: @ Pittsburgh Week 12: Rutgers Week 13: Navy Week 14: Open Week 15: Bowling Green Man, do we have a lot of home games this year! That is awesome for a team like us. We're gonna have a hard time though on our road games. I expect both Pitt and Syracuse to be rather good this year. I wanted to get a game with Central Flordia because they were our big rival during recruiting. Should be a good home and away series for the next two years. Redshirted Players: None We've decided that we're gonna use as many players as we can this year. We have very miminal talent, so everyone we can get would be a welcome sight. I have a feeling it's gonna be a rather long year. I have changed freshman Inside Linebacker Everson McClain to an Outside Linebacker. He was buried on the depth chart if he had stayed inside, so a change to the outside should have him seeing immediate playing time. We've also changed Cornerback Lanigus Hennigan to Strong Safety. He projected the best out of all the incoming players at there. What's even more sad is he's gonna be the starter right out of the gate. Man this team isn't very good. boog23 Posted January 18, 2009 Author Share Posted January 18, 2009 Recruiting With our first home game, we've got the oppurtunity to get a recruit on campus. Wide Receiver Courtney Wilson is a three star wideout from Bronson High School here in Florida. Not the biggest guy around, he only stands 5'9 but just from the look of him, I'm assuming he's a burner. Game Time We come into his one with expecting to win. Looking at the spread, the experts are expecting us to win by at least 12. I'm not really interested in how much the experts think we'll win by. I'm more interested in just getting the win. Don't matter by how much. Every home game is important for us. Not only because we need the wins, but we'll have recruits in for these games that we really, really need to get on campus. 1st Quarter Very first play from scrimmage, Akron throws a beautiful pass that catches everyone off guard. He's off to the races until CB R. Sauter catches him and punches the ball away. FUMBLE! T. Brown recovers it at the South Florida 19 and the Bulls avoid a costly mistake. Just before the quarter, South Florida matches down to the 29 where they are stopped on a third and two. Out comes the field goal team and what do you know? Adkins hit a 48 yarder! That's how the first half ends. South Florida: 3, Akron: 0. 2nd Quarter Akron though opens the quarter quickly. They get a few good runs and then the big play happens. The Akron QB (Dawkins) throws a screen pass to the RB (Morrow) that goes for 44 long yards. It basically puts them on the goal line and a few plays later, they punch it in the endzone. Akron: 7, South Florida: 3. South Florida though has an answer. They march it down the field all the way to the Akron 13 behind the arm of QB M. Torbeck. The drive stalls though and they have to settle for another field goal. Akron: 7, South Florida: 6 South Florida then holds Akron on their next possesion to a 3 and out. The punt was a good one but a big return coupled with a 15 yard penalty on Akron gave the ball to South Florida on the Akron 41. With a short field, M. Torbeck went to work and orchestrated a nice 6 play drive that colminated in a 9 yard touchdown pass to WR F. Carter. With the kick, South Florida finally has gotten the lead back. South Florida: 13, Akron: 7 With time running down, the Akron QB is under pressure and throws up a prayer that isn't answered. It's actually picked off by CB R. McDaniel giving the Bulls the ball at the Akron 35 with 1:01 left in the half. On the ensueing possession, M. Torbeck gets a little to ansey and throws his first pick of the year trying to loft a pass to the end zone. Oh well, he went for it and it didn't pay off. With that, the first half comes to an end. South Florida: 13, Akron: 7 3rd Quarter There wasn't much to report in the third. South Florida went down to about the 30 a couple of times and missed a pair of field goals (both wide left). Hopefully those don't come back to haunt us in the fourth. 4th Quarter The South Florida Bulls have the ball to start the fourth and go on a 12 play drive that stalls at the Akron 26. Coach Steve decides to bring on the kicking team to try make this one a two score game. Adkins comes in, lines up and it's WIDE LEFT! Damn it, we really needed that one. Oh well, we ate up nearly 7 minutes on that drive so there is still hope. South Florida is fortunate enough to hold Akron to three and out. The punt is a good one giving South Florida the ball at their own 25. They drive the ball all the way down to the Akron 17 where once again, yep you guess it, they stalled and have to settle for a field goal try. Adkins comes in and it's up. IT'S GOOD! It's now a two score game. South Florida: 16, Akron: 7 Akron gets the ball at the USF 31 and two plays later, what do you know. They throw a 69 yard touchdown pass. With the kick, it's back to a one score game. South Florida: 16, Akron: 14 South Florida has the ball and is forced to punt with about a minute left to play. Pendergrass goes back to punt and booms it straight into the end zone. Not exactly what we needed right now. Akron has time. They get down to the South Florida 40 where they only have seven seconds left. Akron has time for one play. The QB loft it up for grabs when CB D. Green intercepts the ball! That seals it folks. South Florida has officially won their first game under new coach Steve. Man, I can't believe it. It was a hard fought game that came down to the end, but in the end, we won! I'm so happy. For me personally, I want to crush them considering they were our big rivals during the recruiting season. But with this young team, I'll take any win at the moment. 1st Quarter We kick off to start the game and Central Florida returned it to the 30. Two plays later, what do you know? It's the Akron game all over. R. Sauetter interecepts his second pass of the year! That a boy Ross. On the ensuing drive, we get all the way down to the two but then our maturity shines through. First, we get called for a hold. Then we give up a sack. After a incomplete pass, we're left with 4th and goal from the 15. Adkins comes in and attempts the field goal and misses it wide right. We can't keep kicking ourselves like this. I knew that would bite us in the end. It took Central Florida three plays to march down the field 85 yards for a score. We've got to stop making mistakes like that. Central Florida: 7, South Florida: 0 This is really turning into a shootout. 4 plays after we get the ball, Tobeck see WR F. James streaking down the sidelines and hits him with a perfect pass. James is gone for a 48 yard TD. Adkins adds the extra point and we're all tied up. South Florida: 7, Central Florida: 7 Well, I said it was gonna be a shootout. On the ensueing kickoff, Central Florida takes it back 100 yards for the TD. Central Florida: 14, South Florida: 7 We march down the field to the Central Florida 6 and just can't punch the ball in. We bring in Adkins to try the field goal, which he hits this time. We've got to start getting 7, not 3. Central Florida: 14, South Florida: 10 Man, that was a high scoring first quarter. I think it maybe a sign of things to come. 2nd Quarter South Florida opens up the quarter marching down the field methatically. 5 straight passing plays gets them down to the two. Learning from their mistakes, Coach Steve decides to hand the ball off (something he doesn't like to do) to 2nd teamer I. Leo. He doesn't dissapoint and puts 7 on the board! South Florida: 17, Central Florida: 14 South Florida holds Central to a three and out. Central punts the ball to the 38 where it is down. The very next play from scrimmage, Tobeck finds B. Sapp for a 68 yards TD. Man, we're on fire now. The point after is good. South Florida: 24, Central Florida: 14 Central's next possession, they have something going now. They have gotten all the way down to the South Florida 25 when R. Sauter strikes again. He picks off his second pass of the year. This kid is making a serious run at 1st team all league. South Florida got down to the 31 where we just couldn't get down any farther. Feeling lucky, we decide to let Adkins try his luck at a 51 yard field goal. It seems like the farther away Adkins is, the better he is. He nailed it with plenty to spare. South Florida: 27, Central Florida: 14 And that's how the first half concludes. South Florida is playing well, but Central Florida isn't going to go without a fight. Should be a excellent second half. 3rd Quarter South Florida opens the quarter marching down all the way to the Central Florida 4. Do you think we could punch it in though? No way. Their defense is up to the challenge and we're forced to try yet another field goal. Adkins comes out and drills the 22 yarder. South Florida: 30, Central Florida: 14 On South Florida's next possession, on the first play, Tobeck throws his second interception of the year. Man, that was a bad one. We took a shot down field, but it wsn't even close. Gotta get that smoothed out. Three plays later, OLB D. McInally picks off the Central Florida QB. It's nice to know that the defense is picking it up when we need them. Good job Domanick. We had a three and out so we punted the ball down to their one yard line! They managed to move it out a ways down to their 35 when R. Sauter strikes again! His third pick of the game is returned four yards setting us up with great field position. Hopefully, we can do something with it. Alas, we couldn't do anything with it. But that's the end of the third with us up quite comfortably. Hopefully it stays like that. 4th Quarter The fourth quarter opens up with us punting the ball away. Two plays later, Central Florida puts the ball on the turf and D. McInally scoops it up and returns it 46 yards for the TD! I love it when the game seems to be going all our way. South Florida: 37, Central Florida: 14 Cetral Florida's next possession is quite like their previous ones, ending in a turnover. This time, Inside Linebacker A. Smith was the recipient of a Central Florida intereception. Seems like the only player without a pick is me and my assistants. Towards the end of the game, Central Florida gets down to a fourth and 30. They decide to go for it and go nowhere. I take three knees but they call their three timeouts. Thinking they're crazy, I decide to go ahead and kick the field goal. I'm trying to run out the clock and they're trying to keep playing. They want to keep playing, I'll keep playing. South Florida: 40, Central Florida: 14 Central Florida picks up a long TD pass as time expires. I don't like to see them score so easily, but hey, we won easily. I guess I can overlook that. South Florida: 40, Central Florida: 21 We have a winning streak going! I'm so happy with how the guys came and and played today. Every aspect of the game today was played to the best of our abilities. We'll take Sunday off and be back to work again Monday morning.
