Monday Night Wars

Recommended Posts

Ok, I'm not usually one to quit something I've started, but I am going to abandon my WCW 2001 game entirely for two main reasons. One being that there are a couple others out there right now, and the second being that I want to do something a little different.

I thought it would be cool to do a diary, starting in September 1995, while running BOTH the WCW and WWF. So, in essence, I will be competing with myself for ratings and buyrates.

The 'B' shows will be written as very quick recaps. The 'A' shows will be written as semi-detailed recaps. The pay-per-views will be written as live shows. The reason mainly being that I don't want this to be too much of a chore, because I have a busy schedule, but I do want this to be fun and pretty fast paced!

So, follow along for the ride as WCW and WWF begin their epic battle for fans. Who will win? Or, maybe the better question, how dirty will the tactics get?

Two at once, good luck with that, it could get quite heavy with the work put into both shows while putting them up, that's why I ditched my old diaries (ran WWE and TNA at the same time.)

I'll check in and see how you do though.

Haha thanks. Yea, that's why my TV Show write ups won't be too long. I'll save the hours of typing for the pay-per-views so it limits the workload. We'll see how it goes!

Good luck man, I have trouble writing up three shows sometimes, you're doing two companies.

Not only that, but you're trying to beat the crap out of each other

Yea I've noticed many people who have multiple shows/brands, so I figured two companies would be about equivalent.

And, I really think that's the interesting part, is that it's ME vs. ME. I'm basically trying to beat myself.

I bet I'll win.

WCW Monday Nitro

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Logos/logo_WCW-Nitro2.jpg

Manley Field House

Syracuse, New York

Attendance: 9,486

Announcers: Eric Bischoff and Bobby Heenan

Brian Pillman vs. Dean Malenko

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b352/justtxyank/KyKy/A-C/BrianPillman2.jpg vs. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b352/justtxyank/KyKy/D-H/DeanMalenko2.jpg

Two great competitors here trying to make a run at the new WCW Cruiserweight title. Brian Pillman came into the match as a member of the Four Horsemen, however, in the middle of the match, Chris Benoit came in and handed Malenko a pair of brass knuckles. Malenko knocked Pillman out and covered him for the win. Malenko and Benoit were left celebrating.

Winner: Dean Malenko

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/R%20Images/Ric_Flair39.jpg

Prior to his match tonight with Sting, Ric Flair was backstage with Gene Okerlund and officially called out the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Hulk Hogan. Flair said that he wanted the title with the Four Horsemen who are going to take WCW by storm. He called Hogan a coward who believes he is more than man. He said that Hogan is mortal and wouldn't stand a chance against the Horsemen.

Road Warriors vs. Blue Bloods

http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z162/BrettWCCW/RoadWarriorAnimal.jpg& http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z162/BrettWCCW/RoadWarriorHawk.jpg vs. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/B%20Images/Bobby_Eaton.jpg & http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b352/justtxyank/With%20Belts/StevenRegalTV.jpg

The Road Warriors had the crowd going the entire match and easily defeated the Blue Bloods. Steven Regal, however, looked impressive in the bout, but the Road Warriors were far too experienced for the young Blue Bloods.

Winners: Road Warriors

Harlem Heat were backstage watching the video of the Road Warriors. The World Tag Team Champions laughed at the Road Warriors, calling them has-beens, then Booker T quickly corrected himself by calling them never-wases. They leave the locker room, holding their titles, and laughing loudly.

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b352/justtxyank/KyKy/Randy%20Savage/RandySavage4.jpg

Randy Savage was backstage with Gene Okerlund. He talked about how everyone needed to freak out because the Macho Man was here to turn this place upside down. He showed a lot of charisma, but while saying OOOHHH YEE... he got attacked by members of the Dungeon of Doom, most noteably, The Giant.

WCW United States Championship

Sting© vs. Ric Flair

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b352/justtxyank/KyKy/Sting/Sting3.jpg vs. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/R%20Images/Ric_Flair39.jpg

The crowd was really hot for this match. Both wrestlers had a fantastic ability to draw on each other's energy. About 5 minutes into the match, a familiar face showed up at ringside. Lex Luger, who had just wrestled for the WWF last night, stepped into the ring. The ref had no choice but to ring the bell as a double disqualification. Flair managed to slip out of the ring unnoticed, but Sting was irrate. Being the competitor that he is, Sting didn't want the match to end like that and began yelling at Luger. Luger just smiled at Sting. Sting left the ring, grabbing his US title in rage, while Luger just leaned up against the ropes still smiling.

Winner: None, Double Disqualification

Rating: C+

WCW World Heavyweight Championship

Hulk Hogan© vs. Big Bubba Rogers

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/Rename/HulkHogan.jpg vs. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/B%20Images/Big_Bubba_Rogers.jpg

Hogan got the crowd going very well, in part because Ric Flair, who taunted Hogan earlier, got the crowd even more on Hogan's side. Hogan dominated the match from start to finish and ended with a clean pin following a Leg Drop.

Winner and still WCW World Heavyweight Champion: Hulk Hogan

Rating: B-

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/Rename/HulkHogan.jpg

After his match, Hogan requested a microphone. He said that Flair was the true coward for not saying anything to his face. Hogan told Flair that he would be ready any time and any place. He said that Flair should take his vitamins and say his prayers because the Hulkster was going to destroy him.. brother!

I've decided to take two approaches with each of WCW and WWF. Aside from the main goal of winning the ratings, I really want to try and take each company different directions.

In WCW, my goal as of now, it to begin building a Cruiserweight/Middleweight division with both American styles and Luchador styles. I went out and signed a few guys who can contribute to that style, as well as to the entertainment style. Along with guys like Eddy Guerrero and Brian Pillman, I signed Chris Jericho, , Rey Mysterio Jr., Psichosis, possibly Rob Van Dam and a few others to contracts. All the while, I want to keep the top guys like Hogan, Flair, Savage, Luger and Sting on top to carry WCW for a while.

In WWF, right now I want to build a strong tag team division. I've signed the usual suspects like Edge and Christian and Matt and Jeff Hardy, but I want to develop my own tag team styles for WWF and see how they work out. There is one that will emerge on Raw that I think you will all find interesting. In WWF, with their lack of huge names, I want to start building stars for the future.

Through out this diary, you will see some similarities with the real world and some differences. After all, why change things that worked so well? But also, I want to create a different feel for each promotion.

I know this was kind of an introduction after a show was already posted, but that Nitro was kind of an intro because of Raw's tape delay. Nitro was unopposed, so officially the wars begin with the next shows.

Enjoy! And suggestions are always welcome!

I was huge into wrestling around this area. Early 90s to this point was when I really watched wrestling. So you have a reader in me. On WCW side of things, I say sign Roma & Orndoff give them a small push. They could build up some tag teams. Feud them with American Males to give Riggs & Bagwell some build. It worked for me in a game I played. I thought about doing it again, but I just enjoy my current WWE game too much. It sadden me. Anyways, WWF... push Tatanka! I've said it many times. Get Bigelow back and push the idea of Kid, Bigelow, and Tatanka. I've worked with that trio in my WCW game around that area. They worked out well with a mouth piece. Eh, there is some blabbing for ya.

WCW Monday Nitro Preview

Brian Pillman vs. Chris Benoit

After last week's interference from Benoit for Malenko's benefit, Pillman looks to get revenge. But what did the attack mean?

WCW World Tag Team Championship

Nasty Boys vs. Harlem Heat©

The hottest tag team in WCW look to continue their roll.

Alex Wright vs. Eddy Guerrero

Two great cruiserweights will be going head to head. Both are young and possible future stars. Who will take the first big step?

Sting and Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair and Arn Anderson

Last week, Lex Luger interfered in Sting's match with Flair, leaving Sting a bone to pick with either one of them. Luger is nowhere to be found, and it seems, after Flair's taunting of Hogan, that The Stinger and The Hulkster have a common enemy. Flair will team with a familiar horsemen in this match.

WWF Monday Night Raw Preview

Steve Austin & Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. The Bushwackers

The debut of the not yet named tag team of Austin and HHH. Can they get that ever-important first win?

Bob Holly vs. Jeff Jarrett

Two very confident workers. Jarrett cheated on his way to victory against Ahmed Johnson last week on Shotgun Saturday Night. Might Johnson show up with some revenge this week?

British Bulldog vs. Yokozuna

Bulldog will put himself to the test against one of the largest athletes in the world.

WWF World Tag Team Championship

Diesel and Shawn Michaels© vs. Bret Hart and Sid Vicious

Recently, Sid, Shawn Michael's former bodyguard, has been growing a mind of his own and the two have been in hot water. Michaels will team with his World Tag Team partner and WWF World Champion, Diesel to take on Sid and one of the greatest wrestler's alive in Bret Hart. How could this one possibly end?

Quick Picks

WCW Monday Nitro

Brian Pillman vs. Chris Benoit

WCW World Tag Team Championship: Nasty Boys vs. Harlem Heat©

Alex Wright vs. Eddy Guerrer0

Sting and Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair and Arn Anderson

WWF Monday Night Raw

Steve Austin & Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. The Bushwackers

Bob Holly vs. Jeff Jarrett

British Bulldog vs. Yokozuna

WWF World Tag Team Championship: Diesel and Shawn Michaels© vs. Bret Hart and Sid Vicious

OOC: I know the shows look very similar, and they will probably feel rather similar for the next couple of shows until each company starts to get its own identity.

This match was surrounded by a lot of hype. Both teams looked ready to go as Hogan stepped in the ring first against Flair. There was a lot of back and forth action and a lot of tagging in of teammates, until at one point, Flair took a cheap shot at Sting on the apron, knocking him to the ground. While the ref was yelling at Flair, Anderson hopped in the ring to clothesline Hogan from behind. The crowd booed heavily. Flair turned around and applied the figure-four leg lock, but Hogan "hulked" up and got out of it. Lex Luger then came to the stage area for the second straight week, just watching the action. Flair was able to tag in Anderson, but Hogan swiftly gave him the big boot leading to the pin and victory.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';">
