Recommended Posts

It’s a city that never sleeps.

A city where something is always happening be that ‘something’ for better or for worse.

This is a city where an unknown can become somebody, dreams can be made.

You want to make it big? Welcome to the Big Apple!

Welcome to NEW YORK CITY XTREME!

In 1999 some of America’s most notorious fighters will arrive in the Big Apple to battle in a night club in the heart of NYC, located in the always buzzing Times Square. They shall fight it out to decide who is destined to become known as the King of New York.

The rules are simple, there are no rules! You name it, it’s all legal! Some of the other fighting organizations out there stop fighters from striking downed opponents, not in New York! We know the dangers, and so do our fighters, if your not man enough for the challenge, don’t bother stepping up. When one of our fighters battles in up to three five minute rounds in our wire fenced cage they better hold nothing back, because there opponent sure as hell wont.

Details on the date and fights for the first NYCX card are expected to be announced shortly but for now we can reveal the first two fighters who have stepped up to be apart of this new company….

“My name is Frank Sheedy, you can call me the Baby Bull. I’m 31 and I’m from Killeen, Texas. I am the first fighter to sign up for this thing and I did so without hesitation. I’m seeing a lot of fancy techniques in today’s MMA world, MMA is a sport that is always changing, but one fact that will never change is that if you chuck a man against a bull, the bull will always be the one left standing. This Bull isn’t charging into New York to be second best, I’m set on being THE best, it’s only a matter of time until I’m known as the King of New York!”

http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk394/MattycUnlimited/BarryStrachan.gif

“My names Barry Strachan, I’m the Big Bopper from the big D, I’m proudly representing Detroit. You want to talk MMA? I’ve been fighting since before most even knew what MMA stood for. I treat every fight like it could be my last; I don’t care where it is, in an arena with an audience or in a bar or an alleyway. I’ve been fighting since I popped out of my mamma. Do I think there’s a chance of me becoming King of New York? Let me put it like this, I don’t think there is any chance that I WON’T become the King. New York City Xtreme, get ready because Barry Strachan is coming!”

NYCX is destined to become the MMA REVOLUTION, you’ve seen what the other companies out there have to offer, but they are just the warm up bouts. SOON THE REAL FIGHTS SHALL BEGIN!

NYCX has announced the details concerning its first event, NYCX 1: King of New York shall take place on the last Friday of January 1999. Eight heavyweights have signed up to fight it out in a one night tournament; the winner of the tournament shall be rewarded with the NYCX King of New York title.

The eight men taking part in this tournament are…

‘The Big Bopper’ Barry Strachan

http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk394/MattycUnlimited/BarryStrachan-1.gif

‘Longshore’ Damien Jones

http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk394/MattycUnlimited/DamienJones.gif

Frank ‘The Baby Bull’ Sheedy

Fletcher ‘The Drummer’ Merman

http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk394/MattycUnlimited/FletcherMerman-1.gif

Nash ‘Crash’ Harbane

http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk394/MattycUnlimited/NashHarbane.gif

Gareth Grundy

Soren Jellyman

‘The American Male’ Vincent Chapin

http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk394/MattycUnlimited/VincentChapin-3.gif

And the tournament brackets are as follows

‘The Big Bopper’ Barry Strachan (24-15) vs. ‘Longshore’ Damien Jones (2-0)

This will be an interesting one, Arizona’s Damien Jones is undefeated so far in his MMA career while Barry Strachan is fresh off a defeat, Jones also comes into this fight with a height advantage over Strachan, Jones stands at 6’2 compared to Strachan’s 5’11. What Strachan has on his side is his experience, something he has much more of than Jones. Both men have similar brawling styles. The Big Bopper comes into this fight with a respectable reputation he hopes to build upon, Damien Jones on the other hand knows full well that a victory over Strachan can only serve to raise his status and also put him well on his way to becoming King of New York.

Fletcher ‘The Drummer’ Merman (6-3) vs. Frank ‘the Baby Bull’ Sheedy (22-7)

Frank ‘The Baby Bull’ Sheedy meets an opponent who has a growing reputation in the regional MMA scene, Fletcher ‘The Drummer’ Merman may be classed by some as the underdog going into this bout but this has been the case for Merman in past fights and he has come out victorious nonetheless. Merman will have to count on his technique to avoid being taken to the ground, a position which he is known to struggle with, unfortunately for Merman being grounded by the Baby Bull is almost a guaranteed defeat.

Nash ‘Crash’ Harbane (9-15) vs. Gareth Grundy (6-3)

Nash Harbane is on a losing streak and the brawler from Louisiana would like nothing more than to end it at NYCX’s premier event, Gareth Grundy’s background could not be any more different from Harbane’s, unlike Harbane who made his name in bar fights Grundy is a Freestyle Wrestler with a college background where he was a standout with his skills, He is also on a winning streak. Will Nash Harbane become another casualty on Grundy’s victory trail or will Grundy be the victory that Harbane needs to get his career back on track?

‘The American Male’ Vincent Chapin (21-14) vs. Soren Jellyman (7-10)

After suffering a loss in his last fight many speculated that Vince Chapin may call it a day on his life in MMA, the fast approaching 40 year old shot down all speculation quickly by claiming he has no intentions of leaving the sport yet, He has come to NYCX to start a new chapter in his career and his opponent at the premier event will be Soren Jellyman, a kickboxer from South Dakota who has been plagued by a string of losses recently, Jellyman has also had a cloud hanging over him throughout his MMA career, he has never been quite able to live up to the success his skills would suggest he is capable of. Both Chapin and Jellyman are determined to regain momentum in there careers with a victory at NYCX 1, but which of these two men is destined for the win?

Who of these eight men is destined to become the King of New York and have his status elevated in the world of MMA? Our style of MMA is not tame enough for television so there is only one way to find out and that is to come and watch our event live and watch history unfold with your own set of peepers. As well as the fights on offer there shall be live music and dancers, this will be a night unlike any of which you have experienced at an MMA event before, be there!

http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk394/MattycUnlimited/NYCXlogo1.jpg

Tonight eight fighters have dared to come to a nightclub in New York City which has all you would expect from such a setting, we have live music, we have dancers, and we have a buzzing crowd. One thing that is out of place though is the intimidating wire fenced cage which is placed in the middle of what is a dance floor on a regular night, but this is no regular night as on this night history shall be made, one of the eight fighters is destined to be known as The King of New York, they shall cement themselves as a name to be recognized throughout the MMA world, because if you can make it in the Big Apple, you can make it anywhere!

The rules are as follows

Fights are held inside the confines our wire fenced cage.

All fights go to judge’s decision in the event of no decision at the end of the designated rounds.

Non title fights follow a 3 x 5 minute format; title fights follow a 5 x 5 format.

Strikes to a downed opponent and knee and elbow strikes to the head are legal. Stomps are also legal.

The referee is permitted to separate our fighters if they are inactive

Closing guard while on the ground is legal

Fighters who are knocked down are given 10 seconds to respond

The time for talk is over; let’s head over to the cage and take it to the XTREME!

Interviewer: Frank Sheedy, congratulations on becoming the NYCX King of New York tonight, how are you feeling right now?

Frank Sheedy: Shattered, but for a moment like this it’s all worth it. I want to thank my friends and family and all the people who have stood by me, but this is only the beginning for me. I want to put a challenge out there to any other heavyweight fighters to come to NYCX to face me. NYCX is the place to be and I look forward to a long reign as King. Texas, this one was for you. 1999 is the year of the Bull!

Interviewer: and Vincent Chapin, You put up a great fight tonight but it just wasn’t meant to be for you, any words?

Vincent Chapin: I make no excuses, I was good tonight but he was better and he deserves his victory, I congratulate him and I look forward to facing him again someday. This is not the end for the American Male, but tonight is his night. He earned it.

Frank Sheedy: Thanks man
