yeah they will, that was basically just quick results from the back end of 94 to give an idea of what was going on, short kinda backstory. it doesn't tell you a great deal but i'd prefer to explain more during the shows themselves rather than in a big long post there. WCW Saturday Night will be up shortly :)

Disclaimer: I realise that WCW wasn't just running "Saturday Night" at the time this dynasty's set, and I also realise that the show wasn't run live either, but, this is my first time playing TEW, and am still getting used to it all so didn't wanna mess around with the database too much. I know it's not entirely realistic, but I don't think it hampers the realism too much really to have this as the sole weekly tv show for a while, and to have it live for the purposes of the game

WCW Saturday Night

Mid-South Coliseum, showing live on TBS

Saturday, January w1, 1995

With Starrcade still fresh in the memory, the announce team of Tony Schiavone, Bobby "the Brain" Heenan and "the American Dream" Dusty Rhodes welcomed everyone to the Mid-South Coliseum for a show that would see the debut of the Destruction Crew, Dave Sullivan taking on Alex Wright, Johnny B Badd defending the World Television title against Jean-Paul Levesque, Booker T wrestling the Patriot, the deadly Avalanche taking on the Ice Train and WCW's very own franchise, Sting, wrestling "Lord" Steven Regal. Rhodes said it was great to be going live on "tha muthaship!" as they talked about what may or may not transpire as Superbrawl V approached next month.

With a match upcoming against one half of the Blue Bloods, "Lord" Steven Regal, Sting was on hand to conduct an interview with Gene Okerlund in the arena. Sting promised not to overlook Regal tonight despite having the Three Faces of Fear on his mind. The Stinger sent a definite warning to Kevin Sullivan, the Butcher, and Avalanche that now "the Macho" Man Randy Savage's presence had evened up the sides here in World Championship Wrestling, their days were numberered. Sting said it was great to finally have the Macho Man here in WCW, and for the superstar to show his true colours at Starrcade, siding with Hulk Hogan and the Stinger against the bad guys. Sting promised that if Kevin Sullivan wanted to take over WCW and drive Hulk Hogan out of wrestling, they would have to do it over his dead body. A

The night's opening match saw the debut of the Destruction Crew as Mike Enos teamed up with Wayne Bloom to face Armstrong family Brothers, Scott and Brad Armstrong. Bar a couple of brief flurries of offence from Brad Armstrong, the Armstrong's provided little resistance to the attack of their bigger opponents. The Destruction Crew bullied both Armstrong's around the ring and it wasn't long before they were setting up for their Spike Piledriver finisher to pick up their first win in World Championship Wrestling. C

As the show came back from a short ad break a video package aired showing some of the highlights from the recent Starrcade Pay Per View event. Vader's hand was shown being raised after putting away Jim Duggan to win the United States title belt; clips were shown of Johnny B Badd's successful TV title defence against Arn Anderson; the Nasty Boys were shown fighting wildly with Harlem Heat; numerous clips were shown from the Hulk Hogan/Butcher match, staring each other down, chairshots from both men, brawling on the outside of the ring, the Butcher locking in the sleeper, Hulk Hogan putting the Butcher away with the legdrop, and Randy Savage helping Hogan fend off the Three Faces of Fear after the match! B

The second match of the night saw "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright taking on the intellectually challenged Dave Sullivan. Sullivan didn't seem to know where he was, let alone who he was wrestling as the technically fited German outwrestled him. As the action continued in the ring however, former WWF superstar, Bad News Allen came out from the back and began walking around the ringside area. The fans booed the distraction from the match and Dave Sullivan wasn't happy either, leaving the ring and arguing with the newcomer. As Sullivan argued on the outside with Bad News the referee made the ten count and gave the win to "Das Wunderkind" by count out. C

After the match Allen shoved Sullivan off and climbed up into the ring demanding a microphone. Sullivan followed him in and wanted to know why Bad News had come out tonight when he was trying to have a fight. Allen said he was out here to make a statement, the fans didn't care about Dave Sullivan, but they'd care about Bad News. Sullivan loved the fans and was upset that they might not like him, and the berating he was getting from Bad News wasn't helping. Bad News continued to taunt him which led to Sullivan grabbing Bad News by the collar and threatening to fight him. An angry Allen backed away insisting that Sullivan had made a big mistake, as Bad News had a big bad brother from the Streets ready to bring to the show next week and Sullivan had just made himself the first target. C+

When the show came back from another commercial break, "Mean" Gene Okerlund was joined in the ring by WCW's World Tag Team Champions, the Harlem Heat, along with their manager, "Sister Sherri". Booker T promised to beat a world of hurt into the Patriot later on tonight but they knew they had other teams gunning for them right now, teams like Pretty Wonderful, like the Blue Bloods, and like the Destruction Crew who they saw wrestle earlier tonight. Mean Gene pointed out that they seemed to be overlooking the Nasty Boys, who held a recent win over them at the Starrcade Pay Per View spectacular. Stevie Ray got angry, insisting the Nasties had no claim over the belts and hadn't beaten them at Starrcade. Stevie said disqualifications don't count on the streets of Harlem and all they did was hand the Nasties a real street beatdown at Starrcade and if Knobbs and Saggs kept running their mouths, they'd get set to hand them another one. C+

After a defeat to Alex Wright at Starrcade, Jean-Paul Levesque had got back to winning ways on last week's show, scoring an upset victory over Marcus Alexander Bagwell to earn himself a World Television title shot tonight against champion Johnny B Badd. Badd got a great reception from the fans as he made his way to the ring and fired glitter and streamers from his Badd Blaster into the crowd. Levesque took the opportunity to jumpstart the match and it wasn't long before the two men were fighting back and forth in pursuit of the gold. Badd was pushed right to the fifteen minute time limit in a match that highlighted both mens talents. After hitting a hard left hand that sent Levesque to the outside, Badd hit a big somersault over the top onto Levesque before rolling him back inside and connecting with a slingshot legdrop from the apron to pick up the win and succesfully defend his World Television Title. B-

It seemed that Badd's impressive performance hadn't gone unnoticed and after the match the leader of the Stud Stable, Colonel Robert Parker got up into the ring with a microphone. Parker asked Badd to hear him out as he offered him his management services and the chance to flip the World Television Title over to the Stud Stable. Parker said that with the backing of the Stud Stable, Badd would have rock solid guarantees that he wouldn't be losing his title any time soon, AND, Parker would only take 65% of Badd's purses for doing so. The Television champion stopped to ponder his decision for all of five seconds before giving Parker a resounding no that left the Colonel vowing to bring the wrath of the Stud Stable right after Badd and the Television title. B-

After another commercial break, WCW United States Champion Vader stood in the ring with a cautious Gene Okerlund. Vader said that winning the United States title was the only way he could get a shot at Hulk Hogan and the world title. Vader said that Hogan's biggest threat wasn't the Three Faces of Fear, but Vader himself and that he was demanding a chance to destroy Hogan at Superbrawl and prove that he was the man. Okerlund said Vader would have to wait and talked about the press conference scheduled for later on in the week where WCW's Championship Committee would indeed make the decision on who would face Hogan at Superbrawl. Vader promised to be there and issued a warning of violence if the championship committee didn't make the right decision. A*

One half of the World Tag Team Champions, Booker T, was in action next as he took on a former tag team champion in the Patriot. With Sister Sherri at ringside Booker tried to bully his opponent around the ring and seemed to be in control of the match when the Nasty Boys stepped out from behind the sliding doors and pointed straight at the ring. Booker T was distracted by their presence long enough for the Patriot to roll him up and pick up the upset win. Cue Stevie Ray who came out of nowhere and started throwing mad forearm shots that led into a brawl between both the Nasty Boys and Harlem Heat. The Patriot was forced into involvement, and his own tag team partner, Marcus Alexander Bagwell came out from the back and joined the war as officials lost control of the show. Streams of referees and many of the companies lower tiered wrestlers came out to break up the war and managed to get the Nasty Boys back into the ring, as others held Harlem Heat back near the entrance, Sister Sherri spewing vitriol back towards the ring. C

Once the commotion died down Gene Okerlund was on hand to get a word with the Nasty Boys. The Nasties were in a foul mood and hadn't calmed down from the brawl as Okerlund struggled to get a word in. Both men screamed and shouted, demanding a title shot for the Nasty Sensations and as Okerlund struggled to get any sense out of Saggs or Knobbs he told them to take it to the Championship Committee C+

Following the Three Faces of Fear coming up short in their quest to end Hulkamania at Starrcade, the Avalanche was in no mood to go easy on his opponent tonight, the Ice Train. At over 300lbs Ice Train would have been more than a match for most men but Avalanche dominated the match from start to finish, with Kevin Sullivan at ringside calling the shots. Avalanche put in his most violent performance in WCW, not letting up for a second and hitting the Avalanche Splash in quick time to pick up the win. C

After a commercial break, Kevin Sullivan and Avalanche had been joined in the ring by their Three Faces of Fear teammate, the Butcher as Gene Okerlund was on hand to get some words from the group. Avalanche insisted Sting got lucky at Starrcade as Avalanche got disqualified, but vowed that the beating Sting took means he knew he was winning the war. The Butcher said his hatred for Hulk Hogan still burned strong and he wouldn't stop until the Hulkster had repaid him for all those years he made him stand in the shadows of Hulkamania. Kevin Sullivan had someone else on his mind though, "the Macho Man" Randy Savage. Sullivan said that Savage made a huge mistake at Starrcade and by duping them, and siding with Hulk Hogan, he'd made it personal. The crowd went nuts as Savage's music hit and he came out from the back with a microphone. Savage, not backing down an inch, got right up into the ring and stood before the Three Faces of Fear. The Macho Man said he'd heard what Sullivan had said, and gave him an opportunity to make it even more personal at Clash of the Champions XXX later this month. Sullivan said he had a better plan, ducking Savage and putting the Butcher into the match for Clash of the Champions. Savage didn't care who's butt he got to kick as he promised to bring the madness to the Clash. B

With the main event between Sting and "Lord" Steven Regal still to come, the announce team of Schiavone, Heenan and Rhodes talked through what had been seen tonight, and what they expected from the main event. Schiavone paused, holding his earpiece and asking for the guys to be quiet for a moment. Heenan demanded to know what was going on but Schiavone told him to be quiet so he could hear. After a further pause Tony Schiavone said he was getting word of a vicious attack in the locker room, on Brian Pillman. Schiavone said that he was being told that Pillman had been severely injured but they knew nothing more than that at this time. Heenan wanted to know where the attack came from but Schiavone apologised for not having any more time in the show to get the answers, telling people to check in with "Mean" Gene's hotline later tonight for the inside scoop on any further developments. C

And so came the main event which saw "Lord" Steven Regal, accompanied to the ring by "Earl" Robert Eaton, taking on WCW's very own Franchise, the Stinger. The crowd popped hard for Sting as he made his entrance to face the former two time WCW Television Champion. Heenan speculated that with everything that had happened recently with the Three Faces of Fear, Sting could be overlooking Regal tonight, and as Sting struggled to find momentum early that seemed to be the case. Regal, with the help of Eaton, was using every trick he could find too and Sting was pushed to the limit and handed a real test by his opponent. It was the Stinger who came away with the victory however, eventually finding his form and hitting a pair of big Stinger Splashes before knocking Robert Eaton off the apron with a big roundhouse right, and locking in the Scorpion Deathlock on Regal that forced the English "blue blood" to give up the submission and hand Sting the win as the show went off the air. A*

I like it! This is my new favorite diary.

I like your writing style, I like your promotion, lets see where this goes!

thanks, awesome. this makes me happy :) lots of big stuff planned as this gets going.

also just wanted to mention something about the way i've used the wcw hotline, as a couple of people have praised me on it and it being a bit unique. it wasn't an original idea i myself came up with, have seen it in a couple of things like this from this time period before. i kinda love it though, just a nice alternative as you can't do internet reports and stuff like that, as you would with a modern day one.

WCW Saturday Night

Cow Palace, showing live on TBS

Saturday, January W2, 1995

With Clash of the Champions XXX and Superbrawl V both upcoming over the next six weeks, Tony Schiavone was on full superhype mode as Saturday Night began. Dusty Rhodes was alongside him welcoming everyone to the mothership, and Bobby Heenan was asking to see what happened at the World Title press conference earlier this week. After a brief rundown of tonight's card which would see Vader in action, Alex Wright, Stars & Stripes Vs the Blue Bloods, Johnny B Badd defending his TV title against the Blacktop Bully, Dave Sullivan against a mystery opponent, and a huge main event pitting Randy Savage against Big Bubba Rogers, they led into pre-taped footage from the press conference earlier this week.

Hulk Hogan, Vader, Sting, Randy Savage, Johnny B Badd and Arn Anderson all sat behind a long desk as an official from WCW's Championship Committee read a statement for the numerous journalists gathered in the room. United States Champion, Vader had made a stern claim for a title shot last week on Saturday Night and it seemed that the Championship Committee had been listening as he was announced as Hogan's challenger for Superbrawl V. They cut to another clip of Hogan and Vader, eye to eye, staring through each other when everyone's gaze turned to a commotion at the other side of the room. The Faces of Fear, Avalanche, the Butcher, and Kevin Sullivan, joined by an unrecognisable fourth man had gatecrashed the press conference. Hogan looked ready for a fight but as Savage, Sting and Johnny B Badd all stepped up to his side, security managed to hold the Faces of Fear back as Sullivan screamed that the title shot should be theirs, vowing to end Hulkamania. Once the footage had finished Tony Schiavone said that "Mean" Gene Okerlund had been on the heels of the Faces of Fear this past week in an attempt to find out who that fourth man was. A

With Vader set to face Hogan for the World title at Superbrawl V, he got the chance to prove his dominance by opening the show. Vader's United States Title wasn't on the line as he faced youngster, Jerry Lynn. Vader too little more than two minutes to batter Lynn around the ring and bully him from corner to corner before hitting a devastating powerbomb that saw him emerge the victor. B+

"Mean" Gene Okerlund was on hand after the match to get a few words from the new number one contender. Vader had barely broken a sweat in his match and promised more of the same for Hogan at Superbrawl V. Vader said there was a force in professional wrestling far greater than Hulkamania, and Okerlund was looking at it. Vader vowed to look straight into the eyes of Hulkamania and vowed to force Hogan onto his knees, begging for his life before he showed the world who the real man was and took his title. A*

After a commercial break "Mean" Gene Okerlund was waiting in the ring as he called out WCW's World Heavyweight Champion, Hulk Hogan. Hogan got a great reception from the fans as he hit the ring. Okerlund asked if Hogan had been watching Vader's match earlier tonight. Hogan said he had and Vader was an impressive force but at Superbrawl V Hulkamania would stand tall. Hogan said he needed to use this time to speak to two of his friends and called for Randy Savage and Sting to come from the back. As always, the fans went wild for the Stinger and WCW's newcomer, Savage as both men joined Hogan in the ring. Hogan talked about the Faces of Fear's bid to end Hulkamania and the attempted attack at the press conference this past week. Hogan said he had his hands full right now with the upcoming Superbrawl V main event which would pit him against Vader, and asked for Savage and Sting to fight the war for him and keep the Faces of Fear at bay. After a brief pause with all three men looking at each other, Sting and Savage agreed as Sting took the opportunity to let the Faces of Fear know he'd be in Savage's corner for his match with the Butcher at Clash of the Champions. A*

After a less than decisive win last week over Dave Sullivan, "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright was in action again tonight, this time against Johnny Smith. The technically proficient rookie sensation outwrestled Smith from start to finish, his opponent proving to be little more than jobber fodder. Wright pulled out backflips, beautiful armdrags, and a stunning high dropkick along the way before taking Smith out with a bridge German Suplex to get the win, even finding time after the bell to celebrate with a brief dance to his entrance music. C-

"Mean" Gene Okerlund was continuing to bring the workrate tonight as he was joined in the arena by WCW's World Tag Team Champions, Harlem Heat, with Sister Sherri at their side. The Heat said the Patriot made a big mistake beating Booker T last week and they'd get payback at the Clash of the Champions. Stevie Ray said they were the most dominant tag team champions in history, which seemed to have angered the Nasty Boys who made their way out from the back. Instantly Okerlund was getting in between the two teams telling them he didn't want any trouble as the Nasty Boys accused Harlem Heat of ducking them, insisting they'd only ever be the most dominant champions in history if they went through the Nasty Sensations. With Booker T and Stevie Ray tied up at Clash of the Champions with Stars & Stripes, Sister Sherri said the Nasty's would get a title shot at Superbrawl, but only if they could beat a team of Sherri's choosing on next week's show. The Nasties accepted the challenge and vowed to take the belts from around Harlem Heat waists at Superbrawl. C+

After another commercial break it was time for the current number one contender's to the World Tag Team Champions, the Stars & Stripes team of the Patriot and Marcus Alexander Bagwell to face the Blue Blood's pairing of "Lord" Steven Regal and Jean-Paul Levesque. The Blue Bloods had "Earl" Robert Eaton at ringside who served as a constant distraction but in the end it would be his mistake that cost the Blue Bloods the win. Eaton accidentally tripped Levesque from the outside allowing the Patriot to roll him up for the win. Stars and Stripes continued to build momentum as Clash of the Champions XXX approached, while Regal and Levesque berated Eaton for his mistake as the three men headed backstage. C+

With a title defence upcoming against the Blacktop Bully, Johnny B Badd was interviewed by Gene Okerlund before he headed to the ring. Okerlund asked how difficult a decision it was to turn down Colonel Parker last week and Badd's answer was simple, not very. Badd said he knew what Parker was all about and wouldn't be selling his soul to anybody. Okerlund leaked the announcement that Brian Pillman would be challenging Badd at Clash of the Champions XXX for his Television title, if he was still the champion. Badd said Pillman would give him great competition, and after the attack Pillman suffered last week, he hoped he got medical clearance and was ready to go. C+

Badd's TV title defence tonight would see him face the Studd Stable's Blacktop Bully. With Col. Parker barking the orders from ringside it soon became apparent that the Bully was being urged to hurt Badd rather than take his title and the Champ was having to fight hard just to stay in the match. After Badd missed a charge into the corner and and hit the ringpost shoulder first, the Bully went to work breaking it down, focusing all of his attention to it. Colonel Parker grabbed a hold of Badd's arm from the outside, pulling it down over the apron and holding it there, as the Bully started to lay the boots into it. Badd writhed in pain as the referee tried to stop the assault but after being shoved back across the ring by the Blacktop Bully, the referee ended the match by disqualification, handing Badd the win, but the attack wasn't about to stop. With the bell ringing, the Bully went to the outside and grabbed a chair. As Parker extender the Champion's arm and exposed the shoulder, the Bully crashed a vicious chairshot down onto it, leaving Badd down and out as the referee finally ushered the smug Parker and his charge backstage. B

After the show came back from a commercial break "Mean" Gene Okerlund's dedication to journalistic integrity was tested as they aired the pre-taped footage of Gene looking for the Faces of Fear to get some answers on what happened at the press conference this past week. Gene was shown opening the huge gates to a fog filled graveyard as the sounds of howling wolves seemed to come from every direction. Okerlund looked terrified as he struggled to see in front of his face and fell over a tombstone into a shallow, yet empty open grave. In an instant, Kevin Sullivan, the Butcher and Avalanche appeared as a furious Okerlund demanded to know what was going on. Okerlund wanted to know who the fourth man was at the press conference, as he pulled himself up out of the hole in the ground. Sullivan called him a Primeval force set to turn the tide in the war on Hulkamania, but wouldn't reveal who it was. Gene didn't want to hang around here any longer than he had to and asked why they'd told him to come to this open grave. The Butcher directed Okerlund to the tombstone which read "Here lies Hulk Hogan, 1953 - 1995, Hulkamania will be forever running wild in hell!". Okerlund had, had enough as the three Faces of Fear cackled like maniacs. C+

Back in the Cow Palace Dave Sullivan was making his way to the ring for his match tonight, not knowing who his opponent would be. Bad News Allen, seen interrupting and confronting Sullivan during his match last week, came out from the back and introduced his new protege, the 6'2, almost 278lb mass of Street Violence, Tony Norris (known as Moadib in the GWF). C

Allen led Norris to the ring for his match and it wasn't long before he was dominating the "challenged" Dave Sullivan. Bar a few brief flashes of offence it was all Norris, as Allen barked orders from the ringside, telling him to hurt his opponent. Norris looked inredibly agile for a guy his size and his explosive offence couldn't be lived with by Sullivan who took a huge spinebuster before Norris got him in for position for a sitout double arm powerbomb as Bad News Allen screamed "New York Massacre" from the outside. Norris hit the explosive move and picked up tine win by pinfall in impressive fashion. C-

With the main event approaching, a short commercial break led into Gene Okerlund interviewing Big Bubba Rogers before tonight's match. Okerlund wanted to know what prompted the disgusting attack last week on Brian Pillman backstage. Bubba said he was on a payroll right now and had been told to send Pillman to the hospital. Okerlund demanded to know who was writing the cheques but Bubba refused. Big Bubba advised Pillman to no show Clash of the Champions or he'd be getting sent back to the hospital. Not forgetting that he had a match tonight, Bubba promised to "beat Savage up" tonight before heading to the ring. C+

The main event would pit Big Bubba Rogers against Randy "Macho Man" Savage. The two men putting on a great brawl for the Cow Palace fans, beating each other from one side of the ring to the other, and all the way around the outside. It was Bubba's own force that would hurt him though as he went for a massive headbutt on the outside as Savage backed up against the ringpost. Savage got out of the way and Bubba appeared to have knocked himself out. With the ten count from the referee quickly approaching Savage crawled back into the ring to pick up the win as he prepared for the Butcher at Clash of the Champions XXX. B+

No sooner had the bell rung than the lights in the arena flickered for a second as the Three Faces of Fear, Kevin Sullivan, the Butcher and Avalanche came out from the back and stalked the ring. As they started to surround it Sting came charging out from the back and slid past them into the ring, standing side by side with the Macho Man. The Butcher got up onto the apron but was knocked straight back off by Savage. Sullivan tried the same trick but was stopped by Sting. Sullivan called Avalanche and the Butcher over and as Sting and Savage watched them appear to make a battleplan the lights in the arena went off. The crowd gasped as a thud was heard from the ring. When the light's came back on Savage and Sting were laying on the floor and the same man who'd been seen at the press conference was standing above them with what appeared to be some sort of spike in his hand. Sullivan, Avalanche and the Butcher got up into the ring as the man (seen more recently elsewhere in the WWF as Samu) started choking, first Sting, then Savage, before driving the spike down into Sting's head. Tony Schiavone freaked insisting he didn't know if they could show any more, and as Schiavone pannicked another voice was heard yelling to "cut off the feed" as the screen went black with Schiavone in mid sentence mentioning the WCW hotline. Its weird, WCW isn't a promotion I usually enjoy reading in diary form and 1995 is a low point to take on also, but you've a real easy read style and the building story lines/characters are really intriguing, has a very realistic feel to whats happening which is something that I enjoy when reading diaries. So a great start, as others have said the extra info in form of hotline is a nice touch. Oh and I'm liking the addition of Bad News Allen to roster, used to really enjoy him back in the day, so am hoping for big things from you on him, please. :)

Number one, great stuff, and secondly, this one is always tough for me to aviod. I've played the preset game mods and tried to stay away from some of the for lack of a better term "real mods" because of the fact that I know who were the future stars and playing my favorites. You know, like burying Hulk Hogan purposely....and jobbing out the Warrior. I always thought that much like the current TNA, anyone that was mildly creative could do marvelous things with it. Looking forward to this one.
