I think the problem with crayon's blue and red one, and this is no way meant to offend crayon, who did some great work, but the problem is that they themselves are so eye-catching, they may actually overpower the picture.

 

So? If the picture is good enough, you don't have to worry about that. If the picture is of a homely looking character, the background SHOULD overpower that.

 

My vote is CW's background or, alternatively, crayon blue. That is, unless the WSX mercury background from 07 (forgot who did it) is an option.
