Pro Wrestling WAVE: The Ram in The Orient

In April of 2009, while completely wrapped up in the fervor of his cinematic masterpiece and his career revival, Mickey Rourke made yet another questionable move. Similar to his retreat from Hollywood to pursue a career in boxing, Rourke decided it was time that he went full-time into the world of professional wrestling!

And while that was already considered bizarre and caused the media to once again question Rourke's decision-making skills, it was made even stranger by the fact that he moved to Japan to carry out his dream in the squared circle.

So it came to be, Rourke opened up his own promotion, of which he would be the head booker and owner, citing his funding and history with script writing as his justification for placing himself in two of a wrestling promotion's top positions.

Ever since the announcement of Pro Wrestling WAVE, everyone's been buzzing about what's been going through Mickey Rourke's head, why he would start a wrestling promotion with all the money he's gained since his return to Hollywood. And especially why that promotion would be in Japan. TMZ.com was able to catch up with one of the most eccentric actors that world's ever seen leaving a small diner in L.A.

Asking about WAVE, Rourke told our reporter that he really fell in love with the sport while making The Wrestler, and that the particular high-flying, physical style that he used as “The Ram” was what really sold him on the whole thing. It was while talking to the various Japanese workers he encountered while filming in Ring of Honor when he opened his eyes to the wealth of talent there is in Japan. He revealed that he's been in contact with Dragon Gate, amongst other promotions to borrow some talent for the first few WAVE shows, and they will be combined with some of the best juniorweight wrestlers in Japan, hand picked by Rourke himself.

More details will be announced when we get them folks.

A press conference was held today in Tohoku, the home region of Pro Wrestling WAVE. On hand was Mickey Rourke, talking to the public about the future of the company. He said they have no intention of becoming a super-power right off the bat. They would rather start smaller and grow organically with their crowds. He then shocked the crowd by beginning to announce some of the first workers we'll see in WAVE. These workers included:

Post show thoughts:

So I'm thinking I'm going to use these post-show thought posts to talk about most things involved with the game, and kinda sorta break kayfabe as I see it necessary.

The crowd seemed to really enjoy the first night of action presented by PW-WAVE. The different styles and personalities of everyone involved in the show should really give everyone a feel for how we're trying to blend a lot of things together for that unique “WAVE” experience.

Look for big things in the future from Tsutomu Oosugi. The former mini version of Milano Collection A.T. has started to come into his own in El Dorado following the loss of his Milanito character. This will be one of his first big chances to prove himself as a singles competitor without his mini gimmick.

Also, I'll easily admit that I'm a big sucker for tournaments, so in the opening days, I'll be using quite a few to set up champions, title shots, and stuff like that. But besides that, let me know what you guys are thinking so far. I know it's hard to form an opinion after one show, but if you like the stars, the writing style, or have some constructive criticism, give me a heads up.

Oh, and one last thing about the write-ups, I'm really lazy when it comes to writing up shows, and since the promotion is based more on the wrestling than the story lines and angles, I'm just going to give the results and then give any important details in the “notes” section afterwards, because if I just do too much writing I'll get burnt out and will give up pretty quick, so I hope you don't mind novels for each show, that's just not my deal.

Expect the WAVE II preview up soon.

WAVE II Preview:

Thanks to everyone who came out to our debut show, and congrats to Gamma, who was crowned as the first King of the WAVE Championship after a hard-fought contest beating NOSAWA Rongai and Tsutomu Oosugi. The champion will make his V1 defense on our next show, as he takes on El Dorado's Shuji Kondo!

We'll have a couple of other high-caliber guests in attendance taking on some of the stars of PW-WAVE! Kei Sato will be taking on his brother Shu in what will be interesting, you never know what it's like when blood collide!

Also, former Open the Twin Gate Champions Speed Muscle, featuring former Open the Brave Gate Champion Masato Yoshino and former Open the Dream Gate Champion Naruki Doi. These two will be taking on up and coming surfer dudes Rascal Matsuzaki and Oscar Hanaoka.

In other tag team action we'll be seeing last show's runner up, Tsutomu Oosugi teaming up with Makoto Oishi to take on two masked rudos in Sasuke the Great and The Winger.

BxB Hulk d Dick Togo

King of the WAVE Championship

Shuji Kondo d Gamma

Notes: A handful of teams and groups were created at this show.

The first of which was Rascal & Oscar, the fun-loving surfer duo official bonded under the name of WaveRiders.

Oosugi & Oishi also announced they were going to start teaming together. They will be under the name of Youth MOVEMENT.

WAVE's first stable was as formed as well over the course of the night. Jun Kasai, Onryo, and NOSAWA Rongai announced they were grouping together prior to their match, and they are going under the banner of BLACK Family, with a gothic concept being their central theme.

The outsider from El Dorado, Shuji Kondo, shocked everyone when he scored a cheap victory over Gamma in the champion's V1 defense to win the King of WAVE Championship following a low blow and a King Kong Lariat. Kondo quickly took the belt and ran to the back before Gamma realized what had happened to him. As he came to, he became irate and took out the referee before storming off to the back.

Post show thoughts:

I've now eclipsed 200 views, so thanks to everyone who's been checking it out, now let's get some of these comments coming people haha, I kid! I kid!

I thought the fight between brothers would be an interesting concept, and with Kei being the outsider he played the heel. Look for that to continue for the next couple of shows while he's here on loan.

Oosugi and Oishi will probably be the cornerstone of the tag division, with them being similar to the Hooliganz in the WWE, as it will be two talented high-flyers working together.

WaveRiders are graduates of the 14th Toryumon class, and have also worked in DRADITION in Japan, as well as Toryumon Mexico. They're still rather green, so look for them to open shows for a while. Their match against Speed Muscle was a big step for them, as it allowed them to get experience against such a high-caliber team.

When it comes to stables within WAVE, I'm looking at replicating the format they've used in Dragon Gate in the past, where there is a “concept” behind the group teaming together. This was seen within the first stable, as the BLACK Family, a group of dark, gothic workers, teaming together to spread the darkness through PW-WAVE.

BxB Hulk is one of my favorite workers out there today, and I couldn't sign him because of his loyalty to DG, but look for me to try and borrow him on a somewhat regular basis, in a guest role.

In the main event, I was handcuffed in the decision-making process by Kondo, who decided he wasn't interested in losing to Gamma. Looking back, I probably should have had him lose by DQ to avoid dropping the title, but I'll work around it in the next couple of shows. Instead, to keep the champ from looking weak, I figured a cheap victory and then fleeing the scene afterward would be the best way to handle the situation.

Hope you guys are digging it, WAVE III's preview will be up tonight after I finish watching Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals.

WAVE III Preview:

Two shows in, and we're rolling on to numero tres! Thanks again to everyone who's attended so far, we're packing houses, turning heads, and taking names.

On WAVE III, we'll be seeing a variety of matches, with multi-man, tag, and trios matches, amongst others.

The first match is going to be trios actions, as we'll see two members of the BLACK Family, Jun Kasai and NOSAWA Rongai will be teaming up with Dick Togo. Their opponents will be WaveRiders, Rascal Matsuzaki and Oscar Hanaoka, and they'll be joined by Super Delfin to take on these three dangerous rudos. Also, we'll be seeing the other member of the Family, Onryo will be taking on Shu Sato, who's fresh off his victory against his brother Kei in what should be a very competitive contest.

In a trios match featuring three very different styled workers, Flash Moon, The Winger, and Kikutaro will be facing off against each other. It's always interesting to see styles collide, so keep an eye on this one!

Speed Muscle, Masato Yoshino and Naruki Doi, will return on our next show, as they'll be taking on the makeshift rudo tandem of GAINA and Sasuke the Great. There's buzz going around that we might be seeing a tag team championship arise soon, so a win here for GAINA and Sasuke the Great might give them enough legitimacy to contend for those titles in the future.

Another tag team contest we'll see will feature Youth MOVEMENT, Tsutomu Oosugi and Makoto Oishi, taking on another rag-tag bunch, the baseball-loving Tigers Mask and the bossman, Randy “The Ram” Robinson. This is an important match for both teams, as with the last one, a win here could put them in contention for tag titles.

In singles action we'll be seeing one for the ages that many people behind the scenes here at PW-WAVE are highly anticipating. The two most popular dance idols in Dragon Gate go one-on-one for the first time, in a PW-WAVE ring! BxB Hulk, one of the hottest prospects in wrestling today, will take on “Mr. Egoist”, Magnum TOKYO in what's bound to be a classic match-up of two different eras of Dragon Gate wrestling, for the first time ever, only at PW-WAVE!

In our main event, we'll see Shuji Kondo make his V1 defense of the King of the WAVE Championship, taking on both former champion Gamma and one of the cornerstones of New Japan's critically acclaimed Junior division of the 90's, El Samurai. Gamma clearly wants his title back, and Samurai's upset that an outsider has managed to steal the company's top prize, so we'll have to see if there will be teamwork between the two to try to bring the title back home, where it belongs!

You'll never know what to expect, so be there live so you can see it first-hand when all the insanity and excite comes to the forefront, only at Pro Wrestling WAVE!

Previews & Predictions:

Friday

WAVE III

Jun Kasai, NOSAWA Rongai, & Dick Togo d Oscar Hanaoka, Rascal Matsuzaki, & Super Delfin

Onryo draw Shu Sato

Shu Sato & El Blazer d Brahman Kei & Onryo

Flash Moon d The Winger, Kikutaro

Naruki Doi & Masato Yoshino d GAINA & Sasuke the Great

Tsutomu Oosugi & Makoto Oishi d Randy Robinson & Tigers Mask

BxB Hulk d Magnum TOKYO

King of WAVE Championship

Shuji Kondo d Gamma, El Samurai

Note: As Onryo and Shu started their match, a very different looking Kei Sato ran to the ring and attacked his brother, causing the referee to stop the match. Kei Sato grabbed a microphone amidst the crowd booing and told the fans that he sold his soul to the darkness, joining the DARK Family and reviving his Brahman Kei moniker.

The two started to attack the weakened Shu again, before El Blazer ran from the back to save him. Blazer helped Sato up, and after he gathered his bearings, Shu challenged Onryo and Kei to a tag team match, which they accepted, and the referee began! Blazer took the majority of the workload at the beginning, and when Shu caught his second win, the duo started meshing well, and eventually beat Kei and Onryo when Blazer ducked a "Black tar mist" that hit Kei, allowing the tecnicos to pick up the upset win, with all the tables turned against them!

Hulk and TOKYO was a great match, the two going back and forth in an extremely competitive match that the crowd ate up every second of. The match started out light-hearted, with a lot of dance-oriented spots before their competitive spirits got the best of them and the dancing broke down into a fantastic match, with Hulk winning after a spectacular moonsault.

In the main event Shuji Kondo stole another victory, and still holds control of the King of the WAVE Championship. This time Gamma wasn't even in the decision, as Kondo got a quick roll up on El Samurai, grabbing a handful of tights for the three count. Once again he grabbed the title and quickly sprinted to the back; But this time Gamma pursued him, and almost caught up, before Shuji jumped into a car and was driven away, leaving Gamma looking on at the quickly departing car, absolutely furious.

Post show thoughts:

So I'm hoping you guys are enjoying this, the views are declining per show, but I'm going to keep going. I'm hoping that eventually it'll catch on with someone.

Plus I have the first 20-some shows written up, and the first 30 or so booked, so I wouldn't want to waste all time, cause I've got some really rad stuff coming up.

But I digress, back to the rasslin'!

This most recent show didn't have as much of an impact storyline-wise as the two before it, but there was still some pretty fun stuff.

The opening was an interesting concept, with established teams/groups teaming up with a unrelated yet just as established singles worker. I was thinking of giving Delfin's squad the nod, but WaveRiders just aren't ready for a win like that, and the BLACK Family should be getting wins to build their momentum.

Kei Sato's role in the BF is just till his loan time's up, which is the next show. I was inclined to give him and Onryo the win but it makes more sense to build up your own talent more.

Both the tag matches were hodge-podge'd to get a feeling for chemistry and possible partners down the road. Surprisingly, Tigers and Rourke had great chemistry, but I'm not planning on keeping The Ram on screen that long.

Hulk v Magnum in their primes would probably be one of my favorite matches if it could happen, but since it can't, we'll do it on TEW! As long as I had Hulk on loan, I knew this match needed to be made.

And in the main event, neither of the challengers were worthy to beat Kondo for the strap, so I had Samurai take the fall to weaken Shuji's reign more. Not much else you can do when you get trapped with a loaner with your world strap.

WAVE IV Preview:

Another show down, and we just keep going folks!

We at WAVE would like to thank the Dragon system of promotions for the loaning of all the great talent over our first couple of shows. On our fourth show, we'll be saying goodbye to these workers, and expect them to put on as great of matches as they have on the last shows.

In his last match, Brahman Kei will be involved in what should be a high-flying four corners contest, going up against Tigers Mask, Sasuke the Great, and Flash Moon! Kei hasn't picked up a win yet, so look for him to try to fix that before he has to leave in shame.

Speed Muscle will have their hands full before they go as they take on their biggest competition yet, as they go two-on-two against Youth MOVEMENT, in what should be a stellar contest between two fantastic agile young teams.

Comedy wrestling masters Kikutaro and Super Delfin will be teaming up on our forth show to take on GAINA and The Winger. Following the loss on the last show, GAINA is found another partner, and will see if this pairing works any better.

The BLACK Family will be in action as NOSAWA Rongai and Jun Kasai will be in tag team action, going up against their partner from the last show, Dick Togo, and Yoshihito Sasaki. There didn't appear to be any bad blood between Togo and the Family following their victory last week, but you can't be too sure with people this twisted.

We will have two main events on our next show, both featuring the last appearances from one of our Dragon guests.

The first contest will feature BxB Hulk taking on the technically sound El Samurai. The speed of Hulk might give him the advantage in the match, but you can never count out someone with as much knowledge as Samurai, and two decades of experience under his belt.

And finally, in our main event, Gamma gets one last chance to retrieve the King of the WAVE Championship as he'll go toe to toe with Kondo alone, in what should be a physical match fueled by ill-will. Shuji could in theory leave with the title if he retains here, decimating WAVE, so the weight of the company is on Gamma's shoulders. Will he be able to step up? Can he get back what he still sees as his title?

The only way to find out is to be at Pro Wrestling WAVE IV!

Notes:

Youth MOVEMENT knew going into their match that they would have their hands full, taking on one of the best tag teams in Japan, but they were able to thrive under the pressure. Oosugi showed why has been heralded by management, and Oishi proved himself like he hasn't yet in the promotion. In the end, Tsutomu caught Masato Yoshino with the A.T. Lock in the middle of the ring for the victory. Afterwards, Doi and Yoshino were graceful in their defeat, shaking the youngsters hands, and leaving to let them celebrate alone in the ring. Makoto and Tsutomu saluted Speed Muscle for being class acts, and then climbed to onto the turnbuckles to celebrate for the crowd.

Following their win, Jun and NOSAWA started to beat down their opponents when two people in non-descript black leather masks ran out of the crowd into the ring. The two joined in on the beat down of Togo and Sasaki, along with Onryo who accompanied his partners to the ring. After the referees broke up the anarchy that occured in the ring, all five men celebrated. The masked men then took off their masks, to reveal themselves to be Ken45, the dark rocker from El Dorado, and PSYCHO, the bizarre, dangerous Kaientai Dojo graduate. Jun welcomed the two into the BLACK Family and the five left as the crowd booed.

Magnum TOKYO came to the ring and talked about losing to a worker that he practically created by hand, and said it's left a bitter taste in his mouth, which he hopes to clean out by defeating someone, anyone, tonight. El Blazer came to answer Mr. Egoist's challenge, and the two had a close, competitive match up that saw Blazer pulling the upset on a clearly frustrated Magu following a fantastic looking 450 splash.

In the main event, much to everyone's dismay, Shuji Kondo won yet again, this time with a flash pin and some tights. However, Kondo was so worn down by the hard fight, physical contest that he didn't have the pep in his step to run away as soon as the match ended.

Gamma grabbed Kondo as he tried to leave the ring, and the crowd began to cheer on Gamma as he laid in with stiff, clubbing blows beating him senseless. The crowd began to silence as Gamma continued, despite Kondo being absolutely defenseless. After Gamma got his frustration out, shoving off every referee that got in his way, he took the King of the WAVE Championship belt out of Shuji's unconscious arms. Having reclaimed his prize, Kondo was rolled out of the ring with a series of kicks, spat on him, and Gamma told him to never come back to WAVE, as the former champion raised his belt for the crowd, split between shocked silence and celebration for the championship. The medical staff attended to Kondo as Gamma left to end the show.

Post show thoughts:

300 is not just a great movie, but it's also the number of views I got! Thanks guys, whoever you might be haha.

I think the opening match was a fun scramble to get the crowd heated up for a big night of action.

Youth MOVEMENT versus Speed Muscle was pretty much penciled in as soon as I got Yoshino & Doi. The match wound up being the second-best match on the night, and it should help Oishi and Oosugi ascend the tag team mountain.

Kiku/Delfin v GAINA/Winger was another tag match to work on possible tag combos. I'm mainly trying to get some solid rudo teams to get the division going. Also, that explains Togo/Sasaki.

I'm super bummed to see Hulk go, but that's the one of the things that makes playing in Japan so interesting, freaking loyalty... bleh.

As I was detailing the end of the show, I was feeling like I was going a little over-board, but I figured this would be a catapulting point to really pushing Gamma as this angry, vengeful, violent uber-heel.

Expect something really cool for our 5th show, so keep your eyes open. Preview'll be up later.

WAVE V Preview:

Ladies and gentlemen, firstly we'd like to apologize for any families in attendance for the brutality that was caused by Gamma at the end of the show. We've been able to speak with Shuji Kondo since then, and not only is he going to need time off to recover from the beating, he has said he wants nothing to do with a promotion where he is going to be so disrespected by everyone. Therefore, he has vacated the King of the WAVE Championship.

Gamma immediately began protesting that he deserved his title back, but as he did lose it, no matter what the circumstances were, he's going to have to earn it back.

Thinking long and hard about how to crown a new champion, we've come up with two tournaments that will give us our challengers. The second one will be a WAVE original, but the first one is an important part of Japan's wrestling scene for the last decade and a half.

One of the most important aspects of lucha libre, one of PW WAVE's core elements, are masks. These masks give wrestlers their character, their personality, and some people believe it gives them their strength to perform such amazing feats in the ring. Ever since 1995, Michinoku Pro has held the "Fukumen World League" every four years, in 95, 99, 03, and most recently in 07. While it would be blasphemous to try to hold the Fukumen event ourselves, we wanted to honor the tradition with a masked men-only tournament. We feel we've assembled a strong field including some of WAVE's own talent, stars from the independents, and workers from other companies across Japan!

The workers included in our masquerade tournament include:

Flash Moon- Toryumon X graduate, Moon has been turning heads the last two shows in his fantastic work in our multi-men matches.

Super Delfin- Delfin began in Michinoku Pro, but left after becoming unhappy with management. He created Osaka Pro, and has done a great job promoting his unique style of comedy-blended action.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c267/fuelfan0102/TEW/K-Ness_alt01.jpg

K-Ness- The former "Darkness Dragon", K-Ness was known at the beginning for his fued with Dragon Kid that ended in a mask v mask match. He now often works trios matches, aligned with Masaaki Mochizuki and Don Fujii.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c267/fuelfan0102/TEW/TigersMask_alt.jpg

Tigers Mask- Not a line of the Tiger Mask lineage, rather his character is based on the Hanshin Tigers baseball team. His character has evolved over time ever since he won the Osaka Pro Title in '07.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c267/fuelfan0102/TEW/ElBlazer.jpg

El Blazer- Consistently considered one of the best high flyers in the wrestling world, who's been undefeated in WAVE so far outside of losing to eventual champion Gamma in the semi-finals.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c267/fuelfan0102/TEW/TheWinger.jpg

The Winger- Credited for his ability to combine exciting high-flying action with extreme, life-threatening death match style working. Has worked in FMW, BJW, and even went to America to wrestle in CZW as part of BJW's cross-promotion.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c267/fuelfan0102/TEW/ElSamurai.jpg

El Samurai- A man who won it all in New Japan, winning the Best of the Super Juniors in 97, he beat good friend Jushin Liger for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship once, and the unified seven-title J-Crown once. The two would later go on to win the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships. He was granted his release to recover from injuries, and returned to action in AJPW.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c267/fuelfan0102/TEW/KuishiboKamen.jpg

Kuishinbo Kamen- He used to wrestle under his real name in IWA-Japan. Moved on to wrestle in Osaka Pro as the fun clown Kushinbo Kamen, who gained a lot of fame from his involvement with Ebessan, both tagging with and feuding against. He also made it to America, wrestling in TNA as part of Team Japan in 2004, and multiple appearances in Pro Wrestling Guerrila.

And also, in non-tournament action, we'll see a ten-man tag, with the BLACK Family, Jun Kasai, NOSAWA Rongai, Onryo, Ken45, and PSYCHO. Those five will be taking on the tecnico group of Shu Sato and the teams of Youth MOVEMENT, Tsutomu Oosugi and Makoto Oishi, and WaveRiders, Rascal Matsuzaki and Oscar Hanaoka.

Finally, in a tag team contest, we'll see Kaientai DX re-unite, as MEN's Teioh will make his WAVE debut to join Dick Togo taking on Yoshihito Sasaki and the "Oilest Man in Wrestling", Michael Nakazawa, who will be making a guest appearance from DDT.

Notes:

Despite the change in character, GAINA still wasn't able to pick up his first win, as Flash Moon showed he was able to win in more than multi-man matches.

Boso Boy Light was able to upset Kikutaro in a brief match when Kiku focused too much on comedy, allowing Boso's competitive drive to earn him the win.

Super Dolphin was able to upset his mentor in the first big shock of the show. Delfin was courteous, and raised his student's hand in celebration.

The rest of the first round went as expected, with the only thing that could be considered an upset being HANZO, the seasoned veteran, taking out the sole authentic luchadore in the field, pinning Silver King cleanly in the middle of the ring.

The ten-man tag was a wild display of high-flying action, with everyone going all-out to really one-up each other with impressive flips and fantastic dives. The finish came with Jun and NOSAWA double-teaming Rascal Matsuzaki and pinned him in the middle of the ring.

Kaientai DX were dominating in their first appearance in Pro Wrestling WAVE. They would have put their opponents away sooner if it weren't for the numerous slippery oil-based spots throughout the match by Nakazawa. Shortly into the match, Michael covered Sasaki in oil to help his partner out, but Togo outsmarted them both by wrapping them up in beach towels to slam them.

The second round came and went with no surprises or upsets, but just fantastic wrestling from all eight men. Flash Moon looked to continue his momentum, but the overwhelming strength of Cyber Kong gave him the edge in the match, allowing him entrance into the finals.

After the second round, Gamma came out with a microphone and started berating everyone in the tournament, condoning them as freaks and cowards for having to hide their faces behind a mask. Gamma continued to yell at everyone, talking about what he did to Shuji Kondo at the end of the last show, and how he should deserve his title back before any of the zeros flipping around tonight gets a shot at it. Magnum TOKYO then came out, telling Gamma to be quiet, and if he had such a problem, he should prove he deserves a shot by beating TOKYO in the middle of the ring, at that very second. The ref came out, and started the match, after announcing a ten-minute time limit, given the constraints caused by the tournament. These two went all out, but just as Gamma went to pin Magu, the time ran out.

Gamma started freaking out again like at the last show, but before he could lay a finger on Magu a near army of ref and backstage personel ran out and restrained him as Magnum went to the back and Gamma calmed down. He was visibly upset, cursing as he left the ring, but it wasnt the situation it was last time.

In the tournament final, we saw four uniquely styled wrestlers going all out for a shot at the King of the WAVE Championship. Kong brought the muscle, and Samurai brought the technical submissions, Blazer wowed everyone with his speed and aerial abilities, and K-Ness used an intricate hybrid junior lucharesu style. The four went all out, with some exciting double-team movies, but no one really tried to work together to eliminate anyone else. The first person to get knocked out of the match was El Samurai, whose age and years of experience caught up to him as Kong dropped him with a power bomb and a three-count. Kong was eliminated shortly after as K-Ness took him off his feet with a dropkick to the back of his leg and Blazer came off the top with a fantastic 630 Press.

This left only K-Ness and Blazer left for the title shot, and the two had a fantastic contest, due to their styles meshing well, and the fact they they both just generally exciting whenever they they step into the ring. This confrontation was no different, with tons of back and forth action, including numerous lucha-style standoffs. Blazer looked like he was going to have this one in the bag when he took K-Ness out and ascended the turnbuckle for another 630 press. K-Ness got his knees up though, and as Blazer tended to the shock his back took, he got turned around and dropped with a Darkness Buster which was enough for a three count.

Following the match, the two were extremely civil, shaking hands and celebrating in the ring, with K-Ness even raising Blazer's hand as a sign of respect. Blazer left to allow K-Ness a chance to celebrate himself, during which K-Ness bowed humbly before heading to the back to end the show.

I just wrote out a nice long comment and then the internet died on me. Bummer. Basically what it said was that I am enjoying this. I don't know much about Japanese wrestling (although I have caught it while in Japan) but I do know they do a lot of things based around humor. I mean Akebono was a baby... Anyhow, I think it might be helpful if you describe some of your characters (with pictures) like you did for the masked man tournament. Great start and I am reading.

Post show thoughts:

First off, thanks TR13, for being the first person to give some feedback, I'm forever indebted to you and your generosity! And thanks everyone who has been reading, the numbers are up, even if I'm slacking. I'll keep going if you guys do!

I think the tournament went pretty well. The reason I went with the 4-way was because you can't have someone on loan wrestling 4 matches in one night.

I think the best men won, coming down to the two biggest talents in the tournament. K-Ness is a beast when it comes to his skills, he has B+ in performance and physical, and B in technical and flying. I'd have probably pushed him to the moon if I could sign him to a deal, but there's that darn loyalty again.

I figured Gamma would need to be on the show to keep up his momentum following the last few shows, and what would be more frustrating to keep him on edge than being denied victory by a matter of seconds?

I've taken Ranger's advice, and look for a breakdown of the Pro Wrestling WAVE roster, and then another tournament for WAVE VI to determine K-Ness' opponent for the King of the WAVE Championship!

Who are we?

The BLACK Family

Jun Kasai, NOSAWA Rongai, Ken45, PSYCHO, and Onryo

The first stable to assemble within WAVE, their keynote color is black, and their concept is that of dark, gothic souls bound together to spread their hatred and destruction through WAVE. Kasai, NOSAWA, and Onryo began the group, with Ken45 and PSYCHO joining at WAVE IV.

Jun Kasai debuted in '98, and has spent the majority of his time wrestling in Big Japan. He is known as "The Crazy Monkey".

NOSAWA spent the majority of his early career in Mexico with CMLL. He's known for his support of the Insane Clown Posse, with a hatchetman tattoo on his neck. He got national coverage in America for his work in TNA's Super X Cups, and working with Kazushi Miyamoto. He didn't start wrestling predominately in Japan till 2004.

Ken45 debuted as Pineapple Hanai, part of Los Salseros Japoneses, the main heel group within Toryumon X. His heel turn was the tipping point that caused the end of the stable. In El Dorado, he turned from a salsa band member to a mohawk-wearing leather clad rock and roller.

PSYCHO is an odd individual, trained by TAKA in the Kaientai Dojo. He's known most for his absolutely bizarre actions and appearance, and has gathered a following due to how unique he is.

Onryo's character is based on Japanese lore, in which an Onryo is a ghost that returns to the physical world to seek vengeance. He debuted in FMW, winning the tag titles with GOEMON. He lives his ghost gimmick, not talking, and frequently using multiple "invisibility" spots to trick his opponents. Onryo and The Crazy SKB formed 666 together, a promotion based around the occult.

Super Dolphin debuted in '99 as Super Demekin, and evolved to the heel Goa. Delfin managed to talk him into turning face, rechristening him Super Dolphin. Dolphin would go on to win the Osaka Pro Championship, before his mentor would beat him for it. After he missed a year with a knee injury, he returned angry, and eventually turned heel again, this time as the character Zero. The two won the Osaka Tag Festival together in 2002, and they look to find success again together here in WAVE.

Really enjoying this so far. Don't get to see as much Japanese wrestling as I used to but enjoy reading about it, and this diary is a definite favorite of mine. I actually like the short write-ups followed by your post match thoughts. Good work.

WAVE VI Preview:

First off, congratulations to K-Ness for surviving past 15 other wrestlers to win our masquerade tournament and get the first shot at the King of the WAVE Championship. On WAVE VI, we will be presenting our next tournament to determine who will face K-Ness and WAVE VII for the vacant King of the WAVE Championship.

Now leading into our last show, we promised two tournaments, firstly our masked men tournament, and then one that was "WAVE Original". Here today we'd like to present our most recent creation, our WAVE Twin Mayhem Tournament! The tournament will consist of six first round tag team matches, and three second round tag matches. Now how does a tag tournament produce a singles title competitor? Simple. In the third round, those teams that fought in the trenches together the first two rounds will have to face each other in a one-on-one contest to move on to the finals, which will be a three-way dance. Will these teams be able to cooperate with singles glory on the line? Will we see some teams torn apart? And who will be able to rise to the occasion? Our tournament will include the following teams:

Gamma & ???

isami is a young worker out of the UNION Dojo who has signed a long-term deal with PW-WAVE. His work in DRADITION last year was looked at as solid, and given the right programs, he's looked on to do good things in the future. He was given a trial run with Youth MOVEMENT by Oosugi, teaming with Shu Sato.

Gamma, after weeks of protesting and causing riot-like chaos, will get another chance to earn his title back in the tournament. Unfortunately for him, he has burnt so many bridges he hasn't been able to find a partner yet. WAVE management said they'll provide Gamma a partner if he hasn't been able to secure one himself by the time his match starts.

The only non-tournament match will be a single competition, between two of our competitiors from the last show, as El Samurai will taking on Dragon Gate's behemoth Cyber Kong.
