TCW International Championship

John Anderson © vs. Wolf Hawkins

- The Sycophant of the Syndicate doesn't get rewarded. Also I can't see PS hotshotting the title of Anderson straight away, it would be the same as saying 'back to the tag ranks with you!'

American Buffalo w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. Koshiro Ino w/ Baroness Emily

- A slight upset but Ino had a gruelling match and Buffalo is a dangerous opponent, even if he looks like he can't figure out how to open a glass door. Also Rocky Golden would be happy since Buff's been around for a while and a TCW guy.

Andrews & Minnesota vs. British Lions

- O'Curle sandbags it until they are redubbed the British/Irish Lions. Then he gets bitter about it no being the Irish/British Lions. Why won't Merle smile?

Fumihiro Ota vs. Ricky Dale Johnson

- Not a squash but... close to it.

TCW Tag Team Championship

The New Wave © vs. Freddy Huggins & Sammy Bach w/ Laura Huggins

- If the School can't upend the New Wave, I can't see Huggins and Bach doing it... so just to spite me I expect PS to make Huggins the champ, it would make for some very fun storylines but... nah. This'll be by DQ or count out or something.

Chris Rockwell & Frankie Perez vs. The Keith Brothers w/ Blonde Bombshell

- It's not good to be Chris Rockwell about now.

Easy Riders w/ Karen Killer vs. Rick Law & Rocky Golden

- Because I can't in good faith vote against a team that might become Rick/Rock!

Sam Keith & Johnny Bloodstone w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Tommy Cornell & Tyson Baine

- Cornell gets his win back, Baine picks up momentum for a run at someone.

Prediction Key:

TCW International Championship

John Anderson © vs. Wolf Hawkins

Anderson builds on his title win

American Buffalo w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. Koshiro Ino w/ Baroness Emily

And Ino rebuilds following his loss

Andrews & Minnesota vs. British Lions

Until they get more over, the Lions are jobbing. But, knowing your prior penchant for ROF, I fully expect the Lions to become a force in due course.

Fumihiro Ota vs. Ricky Dale Johnson

RDJ gets a singles win against the jobbing ninja

TCW Tag Team Championship

The New Wave © vs. Freddy Huggins & Sammy Bach w/ Laura Huggins

Routine defence for the tag champions

Chris Rockwell & Frankie Perez vs. The Keith Brothers w/ Blonde Bombshell

Rockwell & Perez did okay on the PPV, so I'd expect them to follow up with another win here. You've time to build the Keiths yet.

Easy Riders w/ Karen Killer vs. Rick Law & Rocky Golden

I'll go with a double count-out or DQ or something here that means a follow-up match on Badge of Honor. I mean, Law & Golden will probably win but I wanted to go with something a bit different.

Sam Keith & Johnny Bloodstone w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Tommy Cornell & Tyson Baine

I expect Tommy to bounce back from defeat in this tag match to keep things bubbling along.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/TroyTornado_nacht6.jpg

As the program begins, World Heavyweight Champion Troy Tornado is in the ring, microphone in hand, title around his waist. The credits fade away to catch him leading all of Plum Park's 15,000 in singing the words to his theme song, which slowly fades away. With a little-boy-having-fun grin, Troy nods.

“That's right,” he says. “I knew there was something I wanted to say...

“And I wanted to say it to Tommy Cornell.” A glance to the entrance. “Tommy, man... You held this belt, what, eighteen months? In all that time, you had the main events – and no one begrudged it.

“I've had it two months now. And on Sunday night, TCW broke tradition.

“You went out after me, Tommy. You kept the main event for yourself.

“Now, I get why. You wanted the moment everyone remembered to be you breaking Sam Keith. You wanted to make damn sure that that was what everyone took away.

“Not your boy Wolf falling flat second month running. Not Brent Hill outclassing him with half the backup.” Troy frowns into the hard camera.

“Let's set aside the fact Sam Keith broke you, Tommy. Let's set aside the fact your plan screwed up horribly.

“You did this without worrying that it would smear the reputation of this.” He pats his belt. “The World Heavyweight Championship, Tommy. The biggest prize TCW has to offer – and your obsession.

“I don't know how much of what you did was ego and how much of it was being pissed off with Sam-”

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/TommyCornell_alt5.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/WolfHawkins_alt3.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/TysonBaine_nachtfalter16.jpg

At last, Breakin' the Law hits. Tommy Cornell is out, backed up by Wolf Hawkins and Tyson Baine.

Troy steps back for a moment, then grins. “Fortunately,” he says, “I have an answer prepared.” And with that, he launches into the vocals of the Rolling Stones Gimme Shelter, throwing all his Iron Maiden-style effort into it.

And the song itself begins to play. The Syndicate break stride, turning to see the man that music heralds.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/SamKeith.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/JohnnyBloodstone_alt2.jpg

It's Sam Keith, and right behind him, Johnny Bloodstone. Cornell and Baine's opponents for tonight.

Troy stops singing abruptly. “Now, back to what I was saying,” he says. “Tommy, you discredited the belt, you stole my moment, all that good stuff. It's time you pay it back.” He levels a finger at Cornell. “At Destructive Energy, I want you, in the Main Event, in a match designed to mean something – and to keep your boys away.

“At Destructive Energy, Tommy, YOU are going to give something back to this company. You are going to help but the shine back on this tarnished belt.

“It seems like I'm doomed to defend this belt in triple-threat matches. So I want you... and me... and I want that man on the ramp, Johnny Bloodstone, who's helped me out before and who I owe.

“And we're going to make it a stipulation – I just cleared this with Mayhem before I came out here – that if someone interferes, the man they interfered on behalf of will be suspended for the rest of 2008 – WITHOUT PAY.

“Goes for you too, Tommy.”

John Anderson © vs. Wolf Hawkins

After their year-plus as part of the Syndicate together, Anderson and Hawkins seem to have an amazing, integral understanding of the other's style that really helps this match get going.

It's fluid, it's fast – it's a damn fine wrestling match as Anderson continues his coming-out party as one of the finest performers TCW has to offer.

Hawkins gets frustrated around twelve minutes in, and switches game plan – he hurls Anderson out of the ring, and backs off, getting Eugene Williams' attention – and two men in suits jump Anderson on the outside, beating him down briefly.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/JungleJack_FIN4.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/JulianWatson_FIN.jpg

Alt credit to FINisher

“I thought they were in Japan,” Azaria muses. “My God – has Tommy Cornell already found replacements for the Machines?”

As Azaria identifies the men as Julian Watson and Jack Marlowe, Watson rolls into the ring and Marlowe hops up onto the apron. Marlowe promptly locks up with Watson over the ropes, shifting to a suplex position – and superplexes Watson from inside the ring to the outside, right on top of the downed Anderson!

“I haven't seen that in ten years,” Azaria whispers softly. In a grim tone, Dangerous chimes in. “Gojira Falls,” he says. “Not sure what hurts more – the move or knowing someone's willing to do that to themselves, just to be able to do it to you.”

Hawkins finally lets Williams get back to the action as Marlowe heads off, supporting a limping Watson on one shoulder.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/StevieGrayson_alt1.jpg

As Williams counts the unconscious Anderson out, Stevie Grayson lays Hawkins out behind Williams' back with a chair shot – not that it can change the result of the match at this point.

American Buffalo w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. Koshiro Ino w/ Baroness Emily

Ten minutes of by-the-numbers brawling saved by the efforts of Ino, this one does nonetheless seem to indicate that Buffalo is at long last beginning to mature in the ring.

All that said, it's still an intensely predictable result, and Ino gets the Kobra's Bite as a direct counter to the Colt Killer to finish it.

Backstage, Chris Rockwell finds the Machines' new locker room.

“So,” he begins. “John – anyone on your championship dance card for Destructive Energy yet?”

Anderson just looks at him, then at Brent, then back at Rockwell.

Finally he speaks. “Shouldn't you finish ducking out on someone first?”

Rockwell does a credible blank look. “Who?”

Brent smiles. “Right behind you.”

Rockwell wheels abruptly. Ino, sweaty after his match, is heading back to his own locker room for a shower. In her usual black PVC with the scarlet emblem, the Baroness takes one look at Rockwell and snorts derisively.

“You handle it,” Ino tells her, and heads on down the corridor.

“Handle what?” Rockwell asks.

She shrugs. “I don't think it matters,” she says.

“Remember that win you have over Kosh? The one you got because I panicked? I really shouldn't have bothered. Turns out you haven't got the stones to try again for real.”

Rockwell's lip curls. “Listen, sister, if that's what you think, you need to realise that I've got-”

“No,” she says flatly. “If you do, show up at Destructive Energy ready to get your ass kicked.”

She pauses, considering, then grins. “Cobras kill lobsters, after all.”

Rockwell swings for her, and we go to commercial...

Andrews & Minnesota vs. British Lions

Simply put, there's good, old fashioned w-r-e-s-t-l-i-n-g here, the kind the storied Streets family used to stand for. True, the Lions are comparative unknowns, but for the second time running, they show that being known isn't everything as they give Andrews & Minnesota a run for their money.

Minnesota has been on something of a tear lately, however, and Walter Morgan eventually falls to the Empire Spiral.

Fumihiro Ota vs. Ricky Dale Johnson

Ever wanted to see what happens when a Ninja is truly hungry to rise? Watch this match.

RDJ, though treading water, remains one of TCW's biggest names, and deservedly so – he's a formidable fighter, and a challenging opponent.

And Ota steps up to the plate as best he can, unleashing an assault before RDJ can prepare, keeping the big man on the back foot for a long time, and dodging his assault for the longest time.

It's a valiant effort, and honestly it's a shame that, in the end, RDJ manages to stun him with a straight left to the jaw, hit the ropes, and end it with the Leaping Lariat. But for a few moments there, the Plum Park faithful were right behind Ota.

The New Wave © vs. Freddy Huggins & Sammy Bach w/ Laura Huggins

Short and sweet, but Huggins & Bach do have speed on their side and use that relentlessly – not that Guide and Scout seem discomfited, particularly, as their teamwork means they can just about stay even.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/TeddyPowell.jpg

It leads to a lot of very, very fast signature move exchanges over the brief course of the match, but ultimately, the contest ends messily – Teddy Powell emerges in the ring while Sammy's wrestling Scout, delivering a chairshot that, for a moment, knocks Bach loopy. Sam Sparrow calls for the DQ...

“I know you can't stand the Syndicate, but those two aren't going away any time soon...”

“I beat Teddy,” Bach snaps. “You haven't even manned up enough to get in the ring with Grayson. Deal with him on your own, bitch.” He pushes past Hawkins and stalks off, leaving Wolf watching his path thoughtfully.

Chris Rockwell & Frankie Perez vs. The Keith Brothers w/ Blonde Bombshell

It's astonishingly even-matched considering how new to wrestling the Brothers are. Perez goes back to his tricks from Sunday – a handful of hair here or there to tip the scales.

Rockwell uses, when driven to it, a more direct method; with Sparrow's attention on Matthew Keith, he palms a set of brass knuckles and punches Greg square in the temple, promptly securing the pinfall.

Easy Riders w/ Karen Killer vs. Rick Law & Rocky Golden

The Riders have been settling into their tandem with aplomb, already knowledgeable, already comfortable with each other, and that gives a slight advantage over Law and Golden – not that those two powerful men don't have their own means of doing damage.

Rick Law in particular seems to be holding his own, where Golden probably could be if his heart was in it – but it's not.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/EricTyler.jpg

Law has Billy Fonda reeling, and hits the ropes to set up the Long Arm of the Law – but Eric Tyler snags his ankle, Law stumbles, and the Riders hit that hip-toss/powerbomb/cutter combination they've been using, now dubbed the Emergency Stop, to get something of an upset win as Tyler nods in satisfaction.

Sam Keith & Johnny Bloodstone w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Tommy Cornell & Tyson Baine

Cornell spends most of this match at the corner, letting Baine do most of the work, as the behemoth powers his way through or around much of the opposition's offence. The company owner's shoulder is still taped up from Sunday, and he looks careful not to do too much with it – but Baine explodes like a man possessed, tossing Keith and Bloodstone around like ragdolls.

After hurling Keith so far out of the ring he crashes onto the entrance ramp, Baine turns his attention fully to Bloodstone, who does his best, but ultimately faces a chokeslam and a Hades Bomb in sequence – at which point Cornell calls for the tag, sliding into the ring and applying the Guilt Trip to the unconscious Bloodstone, seemingly looking to prove a point...

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/book_open-2.jpg

Wednesday 3rd September 2008

Something that made me smile today – on the night that Jack Marlowe and Julian Watson resurrected their old Philly Pro tag team finish, the Gojira Falls, Coleman & Ferdinand won their second GCG tag team championships.

I hadn't realised, incidentally, but it looks like Richard Eisen's issues are worse than I thought. As I noted on the first, Wilson Lopez, better known as Puerto Rican Power, turned his promotion in Puerto Rico over to us as a development federation.

I happened to call an old friend on the phone, someone whose booking style I've often slavishly copied when I couldn't think of anything to do myself. A quick example; back in 1975, the rough equivalent of the current Chris Rockwell/Frankie Perez alliance – the seasoned, downright dirty heel and the flashy up-and-comer, allied for both men's best effect – was one he was doing in Texas, with himself in the Rockwell role and TimberWolf forming the blueprint for Frankie.

TimberWolf went on to face Johnny Boy Tucker, protege of the TWL's big face Mark Krogan, in a hair-versus-mask match after a series of cheating encounters. (Those of you who were watching TCW over the months I'm preparing to book now may see further similarities. For the rest of you, I'll not mention who won that match.)

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/One-Offs/johnnyboytucker.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/One-Offs/markkrogan.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/One-Offs/professornero.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/One-Offs/TimberWolf.jpg

Texas Tags: Johnny Boy Tucker and his mentor Mark 'the Lariat' Krogan square off against Professor Nero and his protege TimberWolf in the TWL, at Pistols Drawn '75. The event also saw Rip Chord retire Horatio Dangerous' father, Alexander Dangerous

And the Rockwell analogue? TWL's booker, Professor Mycroft Nero. Over three decades later, he has the book somewhere else – Rhode Island Pro Wrestling, the SWF feeder league – roughly equivalent to CZCW and FCW in our own rankings.

I hadn't realised, but Mike uses Wilson on most of his shows at the moment, the big 'foreign' monster with his Five Moves of Doom. For Wilson to be willing to jeopardise that income – and for Mike to be able to keep him on despite Richard Eisen's likely anger with the man – it has to seem to the people involved that the SWF is in trouble.

Which, of course, it is – because Peter Michaels is gone, and the new booker has one week to be prepared for the September PPV.

And, in another demonstration of links between the SWF and our feeder leagues, that new booker has been announced; CZCW colour commentator Farrah Hesketh.

Farrah's not an obvious choice by any means – which is kind of a shame. Shane Sneer used to remark, pretty regularly, that the only way to be a good booker was to have come up through the business, to have been a talent, to have learned how to draw a crowd, etc, etc. To have been a champion or to have managed them, all the rest of it.

I think there's something in what Shane said, and certainly his old federation is fondly remembered by tape traders across the country. By that argument, Farrah – a multi-time champion, a colour commentator for us and AAA, and a referee in Canada – has all the experience she needs. And as she's working those three other jobs, she clearly also has the energy and love of the business required to run a company the size of Richard Eisen's baby.

How she'll actually do is another matter. Shane would cheerfully tell you that the SWF isn't the kind of wrestling he was talking about or understands. I'd feel a lot less concerned about the question if my sons weren't there... But, as wrestling once was, it is again; interconnected, everyone having friends everywhere else... now on a global scale.

About to post the card for Badge of Honor, but I want to take a moment to say this first:

Thank you, most sincerely, for all the nominations in the Diary of the Year contest. I'm particularly touched that the Golden Age of Hollyweird is remembered despite the diary having closed down mid-year (though personally, I like what I'm doing with the Syndicate more).

Here's to next year, and hopefully having done enough with Keith's camp vs. the Syndicate to get a Best Feud nod...

Whatever happens, whoever wins, I'm happy to have that level of recognition.

We're coming to the War Memorial Auditorium for the first time in ten years this Friday, and it looks like quite the show has been lined up.

Since their in-ring debut last week we've seen a lot of buzz develop on the forums regarding Sam Keith's twin prodigies, and they'll be opening the show, up against Shingen Miyazaki and Fumihiro Ota. With two losses in two consecutive shows, Tommy Cornell is assigning the Brothers nothing but work, nothing but tough matches - can they ride out the storm? If they can, can they score the win here?

Rocky Golden demanded to be in action this week shortly after a heated argument with Rick Law. We're not sure of the contents of the argument - we are, however, sure that Golden selected JD Morgan as his opponent. Morgan, too, is looking for his first win in TCW, but don't rule the wily veteran out.

Donnie J has requested that the Fly Boys go into action together this week; Mayhem Midden granted his request, matching them up against Kingman & Alexander. Can the Fly Boys possibly coexist following Donnie's attack on Jimmy last week? What of Floyd Goldworthy's interest in the team, something we haven't seen traces of in the past couple of weeks?

Edd Stone has voluntarily put his All Action Championship on the line in this week's match, facing off with the Cannonball Kid for it. Certainly, the Kid isn't at the forefront of people's list of contenders - he wasn't even on the recent fan poll. He is, however, still a talented wrestler and a former champion elsewhere who shouldn't be discounted.

The British Lions will also be active, this time taking on interlopers the Disrespected. Following events on Tuesday, I confidently predict that between the Disrespected's hard edge, the Lions' technical skill, and the possibility of payback, this one will be brutal.

Aaron Andrews and mentor Joey Minnesota seem, meanwhile, poised to continue their war with the School of Tradition, taking on the tag team of that name this week. Should be a good, classically-styled contest.

And in the main event, Rick Law has named a match between two other tag teams; Eric Tyler and his ally Freddy Huggins face off with former TCW Tag Team Champions the Young Guns.

Prediction Key:

Keith Brothers w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Miyazaki & Ota

Miyakazi and Ota haven't been doing anything, while the Keiths need a win if they're going to be a part of the storyline with Cornell

JD Morgan vs. Rocky Golden

Did I miss JD Morgan joining the company?

The Fly Boys vs. Kingman & Alexander w/ Alanis Springsteen

Kingman & Alexander have been on something of a roll, while The Fly Boys are going on a slow burn to break-up.

TCW All Action Championship

Edd Stone © vs. The Cannonball Kid

Does anybody really think that Pratt has a chance?

British Lions vs. The Disrespected

The Lions have been jobbing their way up the card, while Grayson and Powell are trying to get a storyline going.

Andrews & Minnesota vs. School of Tradition w/ Laura Huggins

Gut instinct, to be honest.

Tyler & Huggins w/ Laura Huggins vs. The Young Guns

The Young Guns are a job squad.

Keith Brothers w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Miyazaki & Ota

I agree with Sudo_Nym here, Keith Brothers need to win if they want to be useful in anti-synticate vs. Synticate feud

JD Morgan vs. Rocky Golden

It tempts to go with Morgan here because Golden seems to be out of his game but I go with Golden anyway.

The Fly Boys vs. Kingman & Alexander w/ Alanis Springsteen

One of these teams are in the same page and it´s not The Fly Boys

TCW All Action Championship

Edd Stone © vs. The Cannonball Kid

Edd won´t lose his title here.

British Lions vs. The Disrespected

The Disrespected has storyline going so they need the win more.

Andrews & Minnesota vs. School of Tradition w/ Laura Huggins

I go with Andrews & Minnesota in this one.

Tyler & Huggins w/ Laura Huggins vs. The Young Guns

Tyler is kept strong here and The Young Guns don´t have much going right now anyway.

Prediction Key:

Keith Brothers w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Miyazaki & Ota

The Japanese Job Squad are here to put the Keith Brothers over and give them that all important first win.

JD Morgan vs. Rocky Golden

Can I take Golden all that seriously after he and Law lost to the Easy Riders ? No offence to the Easy Riders but they ain't ever going to be main event talents and I think that loss did more damage to Law and Golden than it did to help build the former DWB's reputations. Anyway I actually think Golden bounces back here a little, as I can't see Morgan being anything more than a glorified job guy in TCW.

The Fly Boys vs. Kingman & Alexander w/ Alanis Springsteen

Can I make the suggestion that Kingman & Alexander get a proper team name, because it hardly appears to be a temporary arrangement anymore does it ? Oh yeah they'll win this, because as someone else said The Fly Boys aren't even on the same page.

TCW All Action Championship

Routine defence for The Syndicate's most maverick member

British Lions vs. The Disrespected

The Disrespected are the team with the storyline going right now, so they need to be kept strong to at least look a threat to Bach and Hawkins. Long term wise I see The British Lions having a brighter future in the company, but their first few years will be filled with many tough losses.

Andrews & Minnesota vs. School of Tradition w/ Laura Huggins

The School might cheat to win here, but I feel Andrews & Minnesota will pull it off and continue building themselves as future contenders for the Tag Titles.

Tyler & Huggins w/ Laura Huggins vs. The Young Guns

I went for one set of School members losing, so I think the other set will pick up the win here.

Keith Brothers w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Miyazaki & Ota

- The Japanese Jabronis are here to make 'dem Keith Boys luuk guud!'

JD Morgan vs. Rocky Golden

- Grumbles Golden picks up the win!

The Fly Boys vs. Kingman & Alexander w/ Alanis Springsteen

- This can't end well for those guys without last names.

TCW All Action Championship

Edd Stone © vs. The Cannonball Kid

- Cannonball goes BOOM! Unfortunately, he misses and (t)Edd(y) picks up a routine win.

British Lions vs. The Disrespected

- Because Ringrust and Powell have a storyline and it isn't the British/Irish Lions... yet!

Andrews & Minnesota vs. School of Tradition w/ Laura Huggins

- I think Deeley's a bit away from being over enough to win this match, and Minnesota makes the difference as he and Andrews continue to climb.

Tyler & Huggins w/ Laura Huggins vs. The Young Guns

- I dig Huggins, a lot, but I think the (should be renamed) Young Guns manage a win, let's say via some form of police brutality.

Keith Brothers w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Miyazaki & Ota

See, this isn't as open and shut as people think - Ota just pulled off a B against RDJ, so the Japanese team are in with the chance of a reward while the Keith boys continue to job. Still, that result was so recent that I don't think it will de-rail the Keiths' push.

JD Morgan vs. Rocky Golden

He's got his fire back!

The Fly Boys vs. Kingman & Alexander w/ Alanis Springsteen

K&A are now able to be legitimately elevated up the tag ranks. How long, I wonder, before a title shot is in the offing?

JD Morgan vs. Rocky Golden

Did I miss JD Morgan joining the company?

Probably. But that's OK; he's not yet done much but lose to RDJ and lose to Art Reed.

Yeah, I've been meaning to name them for ages and waiting for two things - a good excuse, and a good name. Alanis gives me a justification for a slight image overhaul, and this morning I worked one out - it'll be revealed probably on next week's Badge of Honor or in the show forecasts coming up to it.

Anyway, on to the meat of this post.

TEW10 is coming up and everyone's excited, and as I noted before, I aim to finish out 2008 before porting the data across. At that time, naturally, I want to take advantage of some of TEW10's new features and possibly make a few other changes as Horatio settles into his role.

So, I'd like to give you fans... a little questionnaire, to go along with this week's predictions:

1. The way he appears in TCW: A Quiet Retirement, would Tommy Cornell be looking at building/buying a TCW-exclusive arena? If so, in which region?

2. With the way the International and Hard-Hitting Championships have been behaving, would you prefer to think of them as fixed (midcard and secondary main event, respectively) or floating titles?

3. Would you be interested in seeing TCW create and introduce a women's division?

1. The way he appears in TCW: A Quiet Retirement, would Tommy Cornell be looking at building/buying a TCW-exclusive arena? If so, in which region?

Assuming that TCW are still ahead, then I could see it happening as an expansion to the dojo (y'know, they have a huge TCW complex that incorporates training facilities, a solid-ish sized arena and whatever else you can think of?

2. With the way the International and Hard-Hitting Championships have been behaving, would you prefer to think of them as fixed (midcard and secondary main event, respectively) or floating titles?

International should stay as a midcarder, but Hard-Hitting should really be a floating title, as it's more about style than card placement.

3. Would you be interested in seeing TCW create and introduce a women's division?

Only if they used some more obscure names. Wanda, Cat and Raven in particular have been done to death personality-wise, and I'm more interested in seeing somebody else in the top spot.

1. The way he appears in TCW: A Quiet Retirement, would Tommy Cornell be looking at building/buying a TCW-exclusive arena? If so, in which region?

Yes, and in the home region. South west. I could accept it simply as TC getting aggressive and wanting to shut the SWF out of the region. So he strikes a deal with their most commonly-used arena.

2. With the way the International and Hard-Hitting Championships have been behaving, would you prefer to think of them as fixed (midcard and secondary main event, respectively) or floating titles?

To my mind, the International title is midcard, but its honestly probably above that at this point. It might work best as a floating title. Whereas I think the Hard-Hitting is perfect as a floating title. Its new, so valuable hasn't really been established in the long-term yet. Its very much connected to who is holding it.

3. Would you be interested in seeing TCW create and introduce a women's division?

Moderately. The basic idea of TCW with a women's division doesn't appeal to me too much for some reason, but I have faith in you making it work. As 1PWfan said, it would be nice to see women workers who aren't the super common ones.

I pretty much agree with Bigpapa 42 here. As for question 2 I would also like to see the All Action Belt as a floating title, simply because I'm not a fan of there being a 'jobbers' title, which to me is what a lowcard belt is. The All Action Belt would probably never (and probably never should) rise all the way up to main event level status but with the right person holding it, it could elevate itself into being a midcard belt in the eyes of the fans.

So if I was booking, I would have it as:

Main Event: World

Midcard: International, Tag Team

Floating: Hard Hitting, All Action.

International = Midcard

Hardhittin = Floating

Sure as long as it doesnt distract from what got you here. As far as a side dish sure. But if its the main course no.

No reason not to. TCW's on a roll, they're growing, the SWF is shrinking, they have a massive quantity of money in the bank, and what better to act as a status symbol than a new arena? As for where, the South-West is TCW's heartland and deserves the nod.

2. With the way the International and Hard-Hitting Championships have been behaving, would you prefer to think of them as fixed (midcard and secondary main event, respectively) or floating titles?

Floating for both. Helps to keep things sensible, and allows for the fact that the winning streaks those titles build will jump their holders up the card easily.

3. Would you be interested in seeing TCW create and introduce a women's division?

I've heard your ideas, and I think they're cool, but I want to see the men already on your roster given more time first. More time for the names already there before new people get brought in.

1. The way he appears in TCW: A Quiet Retirement, would Tommy Cornell be looking at building/buying a TCW-exclusive arena? If so, in which region?

I wouldn't say so, because he strikes me as the kind of guy who wants to be travelling the country, constantly trying to beat Eisen to the punch in every region. A dojo, however, would be completely in character.

2. With the way the International and Hard-Hitting Championships have been behaving, would you prefer to think of them as fixed (midcard and secondary main event, respectively) or floating titles?

International should stay in the midcard; I think the current trend of Upper Mid and ME guys holding it should pass. Hard-Hitting and All Action could easily go floating, though, as they ought to be about the style of wrestling, rather than a specific worker position.

3. Would you be interested in seeing TCW create and introduce a women's division?

As a women's wrestling fan, I want to say yes, especially since it's a prime product for many of the women. I also wouldn't mind seeing women like Wanda there, because its a good fit for her. However, I think introducing a women's division would harm the men on the roster that are still trying to get established. So it'd be a real tricky balancing act.

Keith Brothers vs. Miyazaki & Ota

A good quality matchup, with two duos who aren't yet as respected by the crowd as they have the potential to become – not a bad opening contest for Badge of Honor. Greg and Matthew continue to show their uncanny ability to work together, though in the end there's no stunning double-team reveal, just Matthew Keith's Proton Lock, as effective as his father's.

JD Morgan vs. Rocky Golden

Golden still doesn't seem to have much of his old dynamism about him, much of his old energy, but it doesn't matter – he's got enough, here, to prevent Morgan from locking down a hold, to pepper Morgan with stiff forearms, smash him to the mat with a twisting powerslam, and to finally sign off on the assault by delivering, out of Sam Sparrow's line of siight, the Rocky Road – a whirling back elbow to the groin, staple of Golden's lawbreaking history.

Backstage, the Fly Boys are engaged in a brawl as cameras catch up to them – as does the American Buffalo, who sweeps them apart to arms' length.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/FloydGoldworthy.jpg

“That'll do, boys,” Floyd Goldworthy purrs as he catches up. “Thought this might be happening when you two ran into each other again. Jimmy, you want to let Donnie explain?”

“I want to-” But the Buffalo's hand curls into a fist, and Jimmy falls silent. Donnie swallows.

“You wanted to get back here as much as I did, Jimmy,” Donnie begins. “We talked about it how long? Years? And then... I guess you gave up on it.

“And on our team. You had a problem with me – I get that, I understand it – but...

“But we both wanted to get back here. And I... I heard they were looking for tag teams. I cleared it with our old boss.

“We're here, Jimmy, and we can be the champions again – but we have to work together. You haven't been – and Floyd showed me the tapes.” Half a smile. “I saw just how much you'd done. I wanted to even the score.

“But they want tag teams, Jimmy. We want to stay here, not get fired, we need to stay a tag team. We need to win.

“We're even, Jimmy – but if we want to get anywhere, we have to win. Floyd promised me, if we can get on the same page, he can help us get to the top... please?” Floyd nods approvingly as Donnie completes his deal with the devil.

The Fly Boys w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. Kingman & Alexander w/ Alanis Springsteen

By no means a great match, but Kingman & Alexander show what teamwork can do as the Fly Boys are only grudgingly on the same page at this point, but Barry and Clark take the risks you can take when your partner has your back and you know it, capitalising by bringing down Jimmy P with a Crippler Bomb. Donnie J breaks it up a hair of a second too late.

British Lions vs. The Disrespected

A very straightforward match in a lot of ways; the Lions have the advantage when the pace is slow, lose it – rapidly – when the speed picks up. The Disrespected don't seem to fight as a team so much as two aligned furies, and they're getting the upper hand again, around five minutes in -

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/WolfHawkins_alt3.jpg

Stevie Grayson pitches forward so hard he turns a complete flip from the chairshot. Moments later, Hawkins fells Merle O'Curle with a second shot, then smashes Grayson again.

Eugene Williams is halfway through throwing the match out when Teddy Powell gets into the ring to rescue Grayson, and Hawkins literally hurls the chair at him, bailing from the ring fast.

Andrews & Minnesota vs. School of Tradition w/ Laura Huggins

Finally the show gets back on track, as these two teams know exactly how to get a TCW crowd roaring.

It's even money who'd win this one all the way, with both sides putting everything they have into it, and in the end it comes down to the two younger men.

Andrews brings Deeley down with a spinebuster and rolls through, clamping on a camel clutch to work that aching back. Laura Huggins looks edgy, moving toward the ring, and Joel Bryant jumps down from the apron and draws her aside, saying “Wait,” loudly enough to be heard on the broadcast.

Deeley works backward, twists, grabs the ankle, yanks, and transitions to his Sure Shot armlock submission. Andrews can't answer it, and taps.

Deeley and Bryant together smile at Huggins, and Deeley calls “I told you,” from the ring. The trio prepare to walk off, but My Hero starts to play, and Rick Law emerges. “Aaron, Joey,” he begins, “Good work. Yeah, you lost, but damn – that one was close! And it's not like these two are a pushover...

“Which brings me to why I'm here. See, tonight, I didn't make the main event. I usually do, and of late, it's usually been to give Eric Tyler hell for the beatdown he put on me.

“As of Hotter Than Hell, I considered that debt settled, and this Tuesday, he gave me a reason to think I was wrong.

“Seems he won't just stop. Now, Aaron and Joey, they came to me and offered to help. But on Tuesday, he didn't just cost me...

“He cost Rocky Golden. And I offered Rocky a chance to get even with him, one on one.

“And he refused – and then made another match, knowing I wasn't going to ask him to pull double duty.

“Rocky, I don't know what's gotten into you lately – but you could do with paying attention to how hard these two fight. Hell, any of the four in this ring.”

Tyler & Huggins w/ Laura Huggins vs. Young Guns

A good, solid humdinger of a match here; Eric Tyler does a surprisingly good job of maintaining the pace set by the three younger men, but it's Gumble who really seems to be pulling out new tricks.

In the closing minutes, Rick Law pulls Eric Tyler from the apron and levels him with a Long Arm Of The Law. Moments later, Harry Allen bounces Freddy Huggins off the ropes with a European Uppercut and, as he brings Freddy down with the Gunslinger's Revenge cutter, Steve Gumble's boot collides with Huggins' head with a savate kick. Inspired, Jasmine Saunders dubs the move the Blitzkrieg Bop.

I pretty much expected Tommy to have some objections to the latest signing.

I didn't expect that their contract itself wouldn't be the issue.

No, the issue is someone taking up three seats on the plane, and thereby costing triple the usual trans.

We have to do the same thing for Giant Tana, as a side note – but that's not the issue here, as I'd freely admit that after his time with Pete, Steve, and the others, Tana is head and shoulders better than this guy in the ring.

On the other hand, the programs for him write themselves, and he's young enough that we can expect a good solid run out of him once he's been through development.

It'd be easier if he didn't need the development, chiefly because it'd be easier to sell Tommy on him as a new Syndicate member – except that, really, that's exactly what we don't need him to be right now.

Tommy, Wolf, and Tyson are all fitting snugly at the top of the card, and outside them, as heels, we've got – well, we've got Chris Rockwell.

We could add Eric Tyler back to that list with a solidish push, bring up Sammy Bach, but ultimately – the Syndicate can't be part of every top-flight feud. We can't afford that; it makes every single face someone struggling for the same thing.

True, the Syndicate needs another member – but Tommy has a line on that guy, and we're going to try to bring him in.

So the giant should, I argue, be his own thing. I'm trying to sell Tommy on the idea of bringing him in for one-month big programs then putting him back in dev for a while to learn more, probably in Puerto Rico where they truly love their monster heels.

In the early years of HGC, Bruce the Giant often operated as more a special attraction than a main-roster member. We honestly could do the same thing with this guy – and that would cover his weaknesses and give him time to learn.

We'll have to see.
