Not just because a national hero died, but because of who killed him. The man who killed Captain America, was DCU's own version of Captain America: Superman. In Superman's defense, he was infected with black Kryptonite, and was made to believe by Brainiac that Captain America was plotting to kill him, so Supe's struck first. Superman has been ushered into hiding, and is the world's most hated man. His friends, and even old enemies are trying to protect Superman, but face much competition in the Marvel Universe's Heroes & Villians. This war will not end peacefully, and many of the M.U. want Superman's head on a platter. But in the background, things much more sinister have begun to unfold, and we are beginning to find out that Brainiac wasn't the only one behind the death of Captain America.
