MAW The Rip Chord Invitational

Friday, Week 4, January 2008

Stanley Hall (Mid Atlantic, USA) Attendance: 282

The show kicked off with Antonio stood in the ring, in an expensive looking suit. He announced that his name is now Antonio Veccio and called all the fans in the crowd cretins who will never know what it's like to be as good looking and successful as himself. He proclaims that he is the biggest star in wrestling today and that he'll prove it by winning the Rip Chord Invitational Challenge tournament tonight.

Veccio didn't have to wait long for action as The Masked Patriot made his entrance for the first RCI match of the night against him. The fans were behind Masked Patriot throughout but Veccio stole the pinfall with his feet on the ropes.

The next RCI match saw Ricky Douglas take on Roderick Remus who was accompanied to the ring by Willow. Douglas used every dirty trick taught to him by Mean Jean Cattley until Remus locked on the Remus Clutch and Douglas had no choice but to submit.

Father Xavier made his presence known as he stood behind a podium in the middle of the ring lit up by a lone spotlight as religious music played. Xavier talked about the blasphemy and debauchery that he sees before him in MAW and that he has been sent on a mission to show people the true path to enlightenment. He finished by praising the almighty one who sent him on his mission.

The third RCI match of the night saw Citizen X have the job of trying to compete with the unrelenting Frankie Perez. Citizen X tried everything but Perez got on a roll towards the end and finished Citizen X off as he locked in the P-Clutch for the submission.

Mean Jean Cattley was shown sitting backstage talking strategy with Ricky Douglas when Cameron Vessey and Casey Valentine walked in. Vessey said that they'll make Jean proud tonight and Valentine quipped that it'll be a walk in the park against those blonde bimbos. Cattley stood up and slapped them hard across both their faces. Cattley angrily told them to never interrupt him like that again and that they will only talk when he tells them to. They quickly apologised as Cattley sat down back down. Cattley tells them that by the end of tonight, The Firm will hold all the gold and all the power in MAW. Cattley warned Valentine and Vessey that he will not tolerate failure and made it clear that failure will be dealt with severely. Valentine and Vessey nodded before walking off.

Mid Atlantic Tag Team champions The Canadian Blondes were already in the ring when C-V-2 made their way down to the ring. Valentine and Vessey did a great job of isolating Oscar Golden with quick tags and double teaming. That was until Golden got the hot tag to Flash Savage who sent Vessey flying out of the ring and with Golden hit the Blonde Moment (Double Top Rope Dropkick) on Valentine for the win to retain.

The RCI final between Antonio Veccio, Frankie Perez and Roderick Remus saw plenty of back and forth action including a top rope suplex by Perez on Veccio with Remus powerbombing Perez at the same time which the fans loved. Veccio ended up the outside and Remus went for a flying crossbody to the outside but Veccio cleverly sidestepped and Remus went straight into the barrier. Veccio looked extremely pleased as he rolled back into the ring. His smile quickly disappeared as he turned round into the Perfect Parity from Perez, who made the cover for the pinfall to win the RCI.

Rip Chord came down to the ring to present Frankie Perez with the Rip Chord Invitational Challenge tournament trophy. Perez stood on the second rope and held the trophy aloft until Veccio attacked him from behind, sending him crashing to the mat. Veccio picked up the trophy as Perez struggled to his knees and smashed the trophy over his head. Veccio told Perez that the trophy should have been his so if he can't have it, no-one will. Veccio planted Perez with the Italian DDT before leaving the ring.

Remmington Remus and Duke Hazzard hyped up the main event title match between the high flying and exciting Mid Atlantic champion Erik Strong and the ruthless and aggressive leader of The Firm, Mean Jean Cattley.

The referee struggled to control the main event as Cattley and Strong's hatred for each other was loud and clear. Cattley took early control as he kept Strong grounded but a suplex reversal into a neckbreaker gave Strong the chance to quicken the pace and hit some high risk moves before attempting the Strong Sault which he missed as Cattley moved at the last second. Cattley looked to hit the Mood Swing but Strong somehow managed to roll up Cattley for the three count. Cattley looked stunned and furious at the end of the match as Strong celebrated with the fans in the crowd.

Overall Show Rating: D

Roderick Remus impressed in both of his matches on his debut for us and being accompanied by the also debuting blonde and blue eyed Willow didn't do him any harm either.

His brother Remmington also did well alongside Duke at the announcing table with Rip commenting that he liked the old school announcing style Remmington brought to the show.

For those wondering who Father Xavier is, Xavier Reckless came to Rip and me with a idea for a religious type character which we both feel has potential. It was enough for us to bring him into MAW so we'll see how things go.

Frankie Perez was top of my list to bring into MAW and he didn't disappoint with a decent showing against Citizen X only brought down by a lack of chemistry but he showed exactly how good he is in the RCI final, deserving the tournament trophy.

Curtis Jenkins and Max Mayhem were released as I felt they wouldn't develop further. Marv Earnest was also released as I'd signed up Remmington Remus and I didn't think it'd be fair for Marv to have to play second fiddle to him. Remmington also has the plus side of persuading his brother Roderick to join up with us at MAW.

Rip was extremely happy when the monthly finances came in and we'd made close to $10,000 for the month. He agreed with me that it'd allow us to cast our talent net out and see if we could pick up some more people.

MAW Wrestling Classic Preview

Friday, Week 4, February 2009

Findlay O'Farraday w/ Ernest Forthdyke-Hume vs. The Masked Patriot

The Masked Patriot has the uneviable task of facing the monstrous Findlay O'Farraday led by the weasel like Ernest Forthdyke-Hume. Can Masked Patriot do the seemingly impossible and win or will O'Farraday make an example of destruction out of him?

Casey Valentine vs. Oscar Golden

Casey Valentine and Oscar Golden get the chance to go it alone and to strike first for their respective tag teams. Will Valentine have some help to ensure victory or can Golden find his way to a win?

Cameron Vessey vs. Flash Savage

Flash Savage and Cameron Vessey also get to battle each other one on one and both will love to win to prove who the better team is. Can Savage emerge victorious or will Vessey use any means possible to get the three count?

Antonio Veccio vs. Frankie Perez

Frankie Perez should be riding high after winning the Rip Chord Invitational Challenge but a jealous Antonio Veccio burst his bubble by smashing the RCI trophy over his head. Will Perez gain his revenge on Veccio or can Veccio prove why he thinks he should be the one that won the RCI tournament?

Citizen X vs. Roderick Remus w/ Willow

Coming off two impressive performances last month, Roderick Remus with Willow will be looking to keep making a name for himself but he comes up against the unpredictable Citizen X. Can Remus continue to impress or will Citizen X find the focus in anarchy to be the one with their hand raised?

Mid Atlantic Championship - Steel Cage

Erik Strong © vs. Mean Jean Cattley

A quick roll-up would not have been many people's prediction for the way the Mid Atlantic championship match would go last month especially not the way Mean Jean Cattley thought it would happen. Erik Strong was celebrating that night but with Rip Chord having made the title re-match inside a steel cage, Cattley will be looking to not just win but make a point. Will Cattley make sure Strong suffers for beating him or can Strong beat the odds again and somehow retain?
