captainlou
IIRC in my created rookie game,Cult federations started giving me work once I started hitting C+ or so pop in around 6 areas(i.e.the majority of the U.S.) Generally what I found with promotions is they will run in the region they are based in,and usually regions which would touch them geographically, but pretty much never stray out of their greater overall Region they are grouped under(since I believe the rules for growing from Regional to Cult requires a certain popularity within a cetain number of locations within your region,so going outside your region would be pointless until going for Global).I think the overall popularity of the promotion compared to its competitors based in the same region also factors in. For example Steel Belt Wrestling is based in Tri State; the run semi-regularly in Tri State because it is their base territory where they must compete with a much higher Cult level Fed(WWF)....they also often run in Great Lakes which is geographically adjacent by WS2 logic and there is only small promotion to compete with there(DCW). Mid South tends to run its home region of Mid South(MSW is right on the borderline between Regional and Cult so it can compete with WCCW and easy outclasses SWCW and HCW) and also usually South East(only GCW is close to MSW in terms of size/pop and is not that much bigger than MSW). On the other hand a promotion like PNW tends to stay to itself since it is the only promotion in it's region, and the adjoining territories (Mid West and South West) both have much promotions to compete with. This also explains why promotions sometimes do oddball things like CWA doing shows in Puerto Rico...there's only one promotion there, which being hardcore is of a different style than almost every other promotion, and is included withing the U.S. Region so the AI feels it has a shot at building some popularity there. Thanks for the info. Here's another oddball thing. CWF, had a show in the north west area for the Florida Beach Tour! Is there a secretive FLORIDA beach in the states of WASHINGTON and OREGON? Could CWF be trying a push towards cult? Who knows. We'll just have to just wait and see. Would it be to my best interest to head back to Central States in order to try and bring the popularity up from E? I'll have to check the schedule to see if there are any conflicts. Or should I just wait it out and see what CWF does? How about HCW, which is a lower regional size promotion in my world, to bring up the mid south popularity? Greg McNeish
Here's another oddball thing. CWF, had a show in the north west area for the Florida Beach Tour! Is there a secretive FLORIDA beach in the states of WASHINGTON and OREGON? No, no. You're just reading it wrong. It's not a tour of Florida beaches. It's a beach tour, that Florida is going on. It's a Florida Beach Tour. I would focus on any of your Ds and lower. Those are the areas where you'll make the quickest gains. I'm not sure what your paycheques are like in Florida and Portland, but PNW is probably the most expendable part of your schedule. You're not going to see very many gains there, while not being a place where you can practically guarantee that you grab the winner's purse (unlike Florida, where your B+ makes you a powerhouse). I would go so far as to recommend that you look to find two territories where you can get some real gains, that fit in with CWF's schedule, and drop PNW. Especially if Florida is making a run towards Cult, you're going to need to shore up your weaknesses, in order to maintain your position. Despite your success in the territory, the areas where you're unknown are really holding you back.

I'll have to remember that if/when CWF goes into midwest area of US for a show. I can't do anything about the D in tri-state, new england or mid-atlantic. Tri-state only has a cult promotion (WWF) and mid-atlantic only has MACW. Besides the scheduling difficulty with PPW (only southwest promotion) and WWC (only Puerto Rico promotion), the only D or lower is mid-west. In that region, there is St.Louis (small & only 3 months in business), Central States (i've been there already and the contract wasn't renewed) and AWA (cult). CSTATE is every Saturday, which is open on my weekly calendar, with a house show scheduled once a month. The purse money doesn't really make much of a difference to me anymore. Almost all of the attributes are maxed. Also, after finding out that HCW would take precedence over CWF, I now doubt that CWF is going to try to go "cult". Heh yeah,I think it's really supposed to be "The Championship Wrestling From Florida Beach Tour", but that's alot to write(it may even be too long for a show title) so it is just shortened to "Beach Tour"....and really I think what it is is the show that ran at the Ft.Homer Hesterly Armory practically every week for years(similar to the Monday night show at the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis). Anyway, when it comes to poularity, this is where it gets tricky..Mid Atlantic and Tri State are mostly locked up by MACW/WWF,except for the occasional "visit" from some of the other promotions trying to build a base out of their home....and New England has no promotion,so it's pretty much only the odd spot show and unfortunately the promotion which runs spot shows in that region the most...WWF. Lou,are you using the original version of D.O.T.T. yet or a newer update? If you are using a newer version I know Western States Wrestling and Big Time Wrestling(San Francisco) are both based in the South West;Steel Belt Wrestling is based in Tri State and usually gets you a good mix of Tri State and Great Lakes bookings. As far as working on your popularity,I'd say CWF will get you bookings in Mid-Atlantic to bring you up there,it will just take forever because of the rarity of those bookings. For working on your Mid West pop, pretty much you can either work for MSW/HCW and hope you get bookings(very slow method) or go to CSTATE/SLWC; even with CSTATE/SLWC,it will be slow as it seems it takes forever to build pop there. As for going for "getting a foot in the door" with a regional about to go cult, your best bet is MSW,they are right on the border line and I have seen them grow to cult. As for going for "getting a foot in the door" with a regional about to go cult, your best bet is MSW,they are right on the border line and I have seen them grow to cult. I've got the origional one, which doesn't have WSW or Big Time Wrestling (SF). That's why only PPW is in the south west region of the US in my version. I have already tried to get back into both MSW and CSTATE. CSTATE declined because it was too soon after they let me go and MSW said that they won't talk to me because of a nonaggression pact with one of the territories I am currently in, probably CWF. HCW's weekly TV show is on Sunday's and that conflicts with CWF's TV show, although HCW would get the preference according to the regional hierarchy. I could still go there, if they accept my call, and still get air time with CWF because they have two weekly events, the endless beach tour and the TV show. I might as well bide my time with CWF and PNW and see if either of them will make a move. Any comments or thoughts on the matches? I personally thought that it was too early for Mark to get a belt in CWF but I guess the large winning record caused it. Mark is, I think, less than 4% in popularity away from "The Hangman", who is the lowest midcarder. I also don't want to leave PNW due to only being 4% away from Randy Savage, the lowest upper midcarder and a push to upper midcarder could mean a possible contending for the major belts. Still, Mark is only in his third year as a pro and I think that he's done pretty good so far. BTW, the heirarchy, so far, for the regional promotions is: 1.) MSW (mid south pop region) 2.) HCW (mid south pop region) 3.) CWF (south east pop region) 4.) CSTATE (mid west pop region) 5.) CWA (south east pop region) 6.) PNW (north west pop region) 7.) WWC (puerto rico pop region) HCW started out as a small promotion back in '83 (as far as here is concerned) but when it went regional, it shot to the #2 regional promotion. I guess everything is really big in Texas. I did see, in the aborted restart, that MSW went to cult size in a matter of months. Also, FYI, the cults are: 1.) WWF (tri state pop) 2.) MACW (mid atlantic pop) 3.) AWA (mid west pop) 4.) GCW (south east pop) 5.) WCCW (mid south pop) So, as we stand in my world the promotions in the US are as follows: Cult 1.) WWF (tri state pop) 2.) MACW (mid atlantic pop) 3.) AWA (mid west pop) 4.) GCW (south east pop) 5.) WCCW (mid south pop) Regional 1.) MSW (mid south pop region) 2.) HCW (mid south pop region) 3.) CWF (south east pop region) 4.) CSTATE (mid west pop region) 5.) CWA (south east pop region) 6.) PNW (north west pop region) 7.) WWC (puerto rico pop region) Small 1.) SWCW (mid south pop) 2.) SECW (south east pop) 3.) DCW (great lakes pop) 4.) SLWC (mid west pop) Local 1.) PPW (south west pop)

Greg McNeish
Heartbreaker of a loss, dropping the Brass Knuckles title so soon. That's the nature of the beast, though, for a low-end championship. Title reigns are never very long down there. Shame you couldn't bounce back into the Television Title. What a great opponent "Bumpin'" Buddy Roberts makes for Mean Mark. I don't know if anyone made big guys look so good. Lots of movement in the territories. Buddy Rose leaves Portland, PS Hayes checks out of Georgia, Ken Patera and Paul Orndorff taking the train out of Gagne country. Wow! Shake ups in the big guys make room for new talent. This could be your chance, big man.

This could be your chance, big man. I was probably just a transitional title holder so that I could get a brief reign as Brass Knuckles champ. I'm sure that there will be more title shots in the future before Mark's time is up in CWF. The Television title is a middle belt and is a step up, I think, from the Brass Knuckles title. That was my second match with Buddy Roberts and now he evened the record at one match apiece. AWA has now lost Mr.Wonderful and the Olympic strongman, but they did get "Bullet" Bob Armstrong recently to head to the mid-west region.
