Seeing Jake Roberts before the booze destroyed him is truly a thing of beauty. Once you get over the headaches, you should feel honoured to have received the DDT.

He could have ended the match inside of 4:00 but he ended up taking his time and stretched out the match to allow me to get in some offense.

I imagine the problem you're running into in the South East is that, even though your opponents are of equal or higher push, your popularity in the South East itself is higher than most of them. If you are far enough ahead of them, then you don't see any gains, no matter how often you beat them.

That sucks when you're ahead, but is great when you're behind, as the same holds true for the loser of those match-ups. I've had a few matches with Bret, coming up soon, that are against some of the big dogs out east. Taking losses to them don't sting near as much, when you don't lose anything. I'm just glad I'm getting the matches, so that when I finally beat one of them....

I'm still getting boosts in popularity due to results of matches in South East and also getting slight boosts in the other regions when CWF holds their matches outside of their region with little or no drop in popularity in those outside regions. I might also be solidifying my B+ popularity in that region and edging it towards A- with each win. While in SECW, I raised my popularity in the South East to B- and my poplularity in Tri State and Mid Atlantic jumped from F to D. I'm guessing that if I can raise my South East popularity to A-, that it would possibly cause another jump in those areas as well as others.

I'm also considering a move later from CWF to MSW to raise my popularity in the Mid South region from C to B-. As you recall, MSW won't sign me due to a pact with CWF. MSW, as per what MDW stated, is probably bordering the cult line and may raise to that level. I'm guessing that that may also jump my popularity in the "big two".

Currently, I am starting to run out of time of the "WCCW only" phase of RL Mark's career and am going to start getting ready to move on to another promotion in the South East area (CWA) by mid to late 1988, should I ever get that far, along with trying to get into WCCW again at that time. (CWA merged with WCCW to form USWA by that time) We may not even see the masked man "Texas Red". (PS: there is a match on youtube involving Texas Red and Bruiser Brody)

Have you noticed that in the other Canadian promotions, that your overall energy number is extremely low, possibly in the low 20s or lower than that at the beginning of some of your matches? I consider that to mean that we are going to be a jobber for our opponent. I noticed that in my matches against Jake Roberts in CWF. He's a main eventer there. I also noticed that in my first match with Buddy Roberts, the non title match inside the steel cage, that my overall energy number was 37% (compared to over 60 for B.Roberts) and in the match for the TV title my energy number was equal to his (we were both in the low 70s).

I love that you won that match against Rip Oliver with a DDT, not long after suffering one from The Snake. A great tribute.

Fantastic match with Buddy Roberts. He channelled Tully Blanchard in that one, being annoyingly resilient. Every time you set him up for something big, he'd shove a thumb in your eye, or find some other way to halt your momentum. I can just hear the crowd sh!tting all over Roberts, as he continually slaps on the sleeper hold. I also love that you didn't actually go for a cover throughout the entire match. He didn't kick out once.

Such a classic face/heel performance, on both your parts. You should feel proud about that match.

Also, you won!

Buddy Roberts had the upper hand for a lot of the match but Mark was able to fight back and get out of the tight spots. With the match being located in Puerto Rico, Mark was up against heavy odds due to not being popular there (while Buddy Roberts was very popular) and I think was lucky to escape with the win and the belt still around the waist.

With SWCW growing to regional size, that now allows another regional sized promotion to go along with MSW in the mid south region as an option, although MSW is the largest of the regional sized promotions.
