Matt Hardy Upset Over Stevens Promo, Triple H Unhappy, WWE vs. ECW Head To Head News

- Matt Hardy was apparently upset over the Aaron Stevens promo this past Monday Night on Raw. He was pretty upset over Stevens comments stating "Matt Hardy is a man who has been in this business for god knows how long, and doesn’t have a damn thing to show for it." But Matt was apparently more upset over Stevens shot at his brother, calling him a "jumped up junkie". McMahon has allowed Superstars to ad-lib a little more with their promos, and Hardy feels that Stevens took it a step too far.

- Rumour has it that Triple H has once again been causing aggravation with many in the company, mainly concerning the ECW storyline. He believes that WAY too much air time has been used to promote ECW, and that more focus should be on Raw talent. Many have also speculated that he isn't happy about being in a feud with Tyson Tomko.

- Although just speculation at the moment, the word going around is that Vince McMahon has given full power to Paul Heyman and his head booker to run the WWE vs. ECW Head to Head special on F/X this Saturday Night. He wants to see how well they perform together, as many are speculating that Heyman will be legitimately BOOKING ECW when it returns next week. McMahon is said to be high on his head booker and, although not always on the same page, he is also a fan of Heyman's work and trusts him to run things smoothly, allowing him to concentrate on his flagship shows, Raw and Smackdown.

Quick Hits: New Breed

This week, ECW.com gave the "New Breed" of ECW Stars a chance to give their thoughts on the new ECW, as well as their matches set to take place on June 4th at One Night Stand. Here's what they had to say:

Doug Basham

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/DougBasham.jpg

Me and Danny (Basham) were so under-appreciated on Smackdown. Teddy Long spent most of his time trying to screw us over. If we were given the chances that people like London & Kendrick and MNM have had, we would be Tag Team Champions by now. Being in ECW is our way of sticking it to Teddy Long, to show him that he made a BIG mistake when he crossed paths with us.

You only get one shot to make a good first impression, so this Three Way Dance at One Night Stand will be our chance to show ECW and the rest of the world just what we can do. We're not just a couple of WWE rejects trying to prove a point. We're the best Tag Team in the world today who were held back so much on Smackdown. This is the first step on the road to redemption for Doug and Danny Basham.

Danny Basham

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/DannyBasham.jpg

The past few months have been sucha breath of fresh air for me and Doug (Basham), to be surrounded by people who want the best for their promotion rather than for themselves. I'm not saying that we like everyone on the ECW roster. Truth be told, not one of them can hold my jock. But despite what they think of each other in that ring, they look out for the company, and in return the company looks out for them.

At One Night Stand, we face two Tag Teams who already have their names firmly cemented in ECW folklore (Richards/Nova & Whipwreck/Tajiri). I won't take anything away from them, they're good. But there is one thing they're not; they are NOT The Bashams. Love us or hate us, it's irrelevant. We are the best thing going today. And we prove it on June 4th. It's time Doug and Danny Basham put their name back on the wrestling map.

Shelton Benjamin

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/SheltonBenjamin4.jpg

I don't want anybody getting the wrong idea. I'm not in ECW because I want to be. Everybody saw what happened to me in the WWE. I was the fastest rising star in the company. I beat Shawn Michaels on the grandest stage of them all, Wrestlemania. I was a WWE Champion in the making. And yet I get fired for not doing McMahon's dirty work? It's B.S. So I came to ECW, not because it was a dream of mine. Not because I was a fan back in the day. I came here to stick it down the throat of Vince McMahon, to show him that when he fired me, he fired the very best in the world today, the elite, the gold standard. I'm going to make ECW the Number One wrestling company in the world so I can throw it right in Vince's face for letting the best athlete in professional wrestling HISTORY slip through his fingers.

My opponent at One Night Stand is a former ECW World Champion, he's what some may call the face of ECW, Sabu. I take nothing away from the guy, he's good. He's VERY good. But you see, this isn't the mid-90's any more. This is 2006, and there is a new face of ECW, and his name is Shelton Benjamin. Sabu is just the first on a list of many that will fall as I climb the ladder to greatness.

Gregory Helms

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/GregoryHelms-1.jpg

Let's make this quick, I got better things to be doing. The truth is, Smackdown is a sinking ship. And it's "captain", Teddy Long, is the one that crashed it into the iceberg. He has destroyed that show from the inside, he can't keep his talent in check, and he screws over TRUE talent. He tried everything he could to ensure I lost the Cruiserweight Championship. He tries hard but, in reality, he isn't a leader. So when Heyman flashed a check at me for a HUGE sum of money to come and work for him, to finally get to show the world what I'm capable of, I jumped at the chance.

The Sandman? Seriously? In the 90's he was a bad ass brawler who would kick your ass and smile as he did it. But today, he's just a drunk with a stick in his hand. He hasn't got a chance in hell against a true athlete like myself. ECW's past will be erased at One Night Stand, courtesy of God's Gift To Wrestling.

Be sure to tune in to F/X this Saturday night for WWE vs. ECW: Head to Head. And then it's the big one on Sunday night with ECW One Night Stand from the Hammerstein Ballroom, exclusively on Pay Per View. You would be a fool to miss it.

The final stop before the showdown between two promotions on the brink of war comes to you this Friday night on Smackdown. Also, CM Punk will be in action, and you can bet your bottom dollar that ECW make their presence felt some time or another. The usual video and pyrotechnics were not present for the opening of Smackdown, as we get a single camera shot of the Parking Lot, where three Hummer’s pull into the arena. They park the cars, and from the driver’s seat of the three vehicles come the three ECW co-owners Paul Heyman, Mick Foley and Tommy Dreamer. And from the passenger seats come a slew of ECW stars. Security is already on hand to ATTEMPT to keep ECW out, although if the previous few weeks are anything to go by, this may be futile. Rob Van Dam approaches the security, who stand firm in front of him before finally allowing him past. The rest of the ECW contingent stayed behind, where the beers begin to flow thanks to Sandman and Balls Mahoney. The ECW group sit back in the parking lot, and the party seems to be just about to start.

Cole: The Pepsi Arena in Albany, New York is close to a sell out as we head into a weekend that could make or break the future of World Wrestling Entertainment.

Kennedy: Well, as we already saw just moments ago, ECW have already rolled into the parking lot, and I think we all know it’s just a matter of time before we see them make an impact here tonight.

Cole: Well, one man from the Land of Extreme is about to get a brutal parting gift as Rob Van Dam, in his VERY LAST appearance as a WWE contracted Superstar, will be in non-title competition against “The Phenom” The Undertaker.

Kennedy: A smart move by McMahon and company, to try to weaken Van Dam before his showdown with Angle at One Night Stand.

CM Punk vs. Psicosis

The Straight Edge Superstar was warmly received by the Albany crowd, clearly impressed by what they have seen thus far. Psicosis got less than a warm reception after costing Super Crazy the Cruiserweight Championship last week. But the two put on a respectable performance, with Punk surprisingly taking the advantage in the early going. But Psicosis managed to fight his way back into the match (with a perfectly placed thumb to the eye), and went in for the kill, beating Punk into the canvas and showing the kind of brutality commonly found in bar fights. Punk was reeling, but he would not back down, throwing fists of his own. But Psicosis was relentless. However, the beating came to a halt when Super Crazy sprinted towards the ring, sliding underneath the ropes and taking Psicosis down to the mat. The official had no choice but to call for the bell. CM Punk suffers his first loss as a result of a disqualification, although he has nothing to be ashamed of after putting up a hell of a fight.

Winner (Via Disqualification): Psicosis

Crazy continued the assault on his former Mexicool partner after the bout as the official tried to pry him off. But Crazy simply pushed him to the mat before continuing to beat him down. CM Punk attempted to calm down the former Cruiserweight Champion, but he too was shoved to the ground. Punk was not going to be manhandled by anyone, and grabbed Crazy by the shoulder. But Punk was hit with a sick kick to the groin before being thrown to the outside. Crazy was uncontrollable as he laid waste to Psicosis. But he never saw the appearance of Kid Kash, who slid into the ring and nailed Crazy with a low blow of his own before planting him with a Dead Level Brainbuster directly onto the Cruiserweight Championship belt. Kash looked down at his opponent for next week. Punk slid into the ring once again, but he too was hit with the Dead Level, knocking him out. Kash held his title high in the air as the New York natives bombarded him with abuse.

Cole: Kid Kash just sent a clear message to Super Crazy before their clash for the title next week.

Kennedy: Not only that, he just exposed CM Punk for what he really is.

Cole: What is your problem with him, seriously?

*****

One half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, William Regal, is walking innocently down the corridors of The Pepsi Arena when an out of breath Paul Burchill runs towards him.

Regal: Bloody hell, son. What have you been doing?

Burchill: Never mind that, I got a present for you. Well, it’s more of a present for the both of us.

Regal:....Are you going soft on me, lad? We’ve got a title match later tonight, do you think we can concentrate on that for now?

Burchill: Seriously, you’re gonna love it, Billy. I had it specially made. Trust me, once we finish off those meatball chomping puffs The F.B.I tonight, I’ll give it to you in the middle of the ring. Seriously, you will love it.

Regal: Are you proposing to me or something, sunshine? Just get ready for our match will you. You soppy tart.

Regal walks away from his partner, who still has a grin across his face.

Cole: What the hell was that all about?

Kennedy: Never mind that, what the hell is a “Soppy Tart”? Damn limeys, why don’t they speak English for a change?

*****

Grisham: Ladies and gentlemen, I am joined at this time with the man who will be looking to regain the United States Championship here tonight, “The Legend Killer” Randy Orton. Randy, you look to win back the gold that was taken from you at Judgment Day. Are you at all concerned about getting into the ring with a man who has been extremely unpredictable these past few months in Bobby Lashley?

Orton: Grisham, I’ve told you before. Bobby Lashley does not intimidate me. Let’s be honest, there is only one...no, make that TWO reasons why I am not stood here with the United States Championship firmly around my waist, and that’s Chris Benoit and Matt Hardy. It wasn’t because Lashley is a better wrestler than me, it’s not because he’s a better athlete than me. Bobby Lashley is United States Champion because Chris Benoit and Matt Hardy SCREWED me out of my title. But that won’t be an issue tonight, because Teddy Long has made the ruling that there will be no outside interference. You see, many would think that Teddy Long is doing me a favour, but I can see right through that conniving piece of crap. He’s made that ruling because he doesn’t think I can beat Lashley on my own, he wants’ Lashley to destroy me. Teddy has had it in for me since day one. Well Teddy’s little plan is going to backfire, because I intend on walking out of Albany, New York as the NEW United States Champion. You can take that to the bank, Grisham.

Cole: Orton sounds confident here tonight, but will he feel the same when he comes face to face with the ever unpredictable Bobby Lashley?

Paul Burchill & William Regal © vs. The F.B.I

Despite being a title match, the outcome was never really in any doubt as Burchill and Regal laid waste to the fiery Italians in quick fashion. That’s not to say The F.B.I didn’t attempt to fight back, as Mamaluke looked very impressive for the Full Blooded Italians. But in the end, it all came to nothing for Nunzio and Mamaluke, with Burchill picking up the victory after hitting a sickening Curb Stomp on Nunzio for the victory.

Winners and STILL Tag Team Champions: Paul Burchill & William Regal

With the victory in the bag, Burchill grabs a microphone from ringside, as well as a big black bag that he brings into the ring, much to the confusion of Regal.

Burchill: Billy, you know these past few weeks have been amazing. Everything that happened between us in the past, it’s all been erased. I love you like a father. You are there for me whenever I need you...

Regal: Seriously, have you started batting for the other team? What the hell are you talking about? And what’s in the bag, you numpty?

Burchill: In this bag is a present for the both of us. We always said that we would make Britain proud, to prove that no country in the world can compete with us. And this present proves it.

Burchill opened the bag up and revealed his gift to the world...

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/wwebritishtagteam.jpg

Regal was handed one of the newly crafted title belts, and he seemed surprisingly impressed before hugging his protégé close to him.

Burchill: These title belts symbolize that we are the very best Tag Team in the world. They symbolize that when it comes to skill, when it comes to talent, when it comes to pure wrestling ability there is nowhere better than the United Kingdom. As long as we hold these finely crafted belts, you can refer to us as the WWE GREAT BRITISH Tag Team Champions. We are the very best of the very best. This right here is the future of Tag Team Wrestling. This is an uprising....this is The British Uprising. And I defy anyone to step into this ring and take these titles away from us. The British Uprising is here, and like it or not, we’re not going anywhere.

The two men raised their new title belts high in the air as a “USA” chant broke out. But the celebration was cut short when Paul London and Brian Kendrick ran to the ring. The brits decided to bail with their titles as Londrick slid into the ring. The champs backed their way up the ramp as London and Kendrick looked on.

Cole: How dare they disrespect the tag titles by throwing them to the wayside and putting their national flag on it.

Kennedy: You want some cheese with that WHINE, Cole? They’re proud of their heritage; they have every right to do it. The US title belt isn’t exactly one for the Europeans is it?

*****

The cameras are quickly sent to the back, where Mark Henry is on the floor in pain, surrounded by officials who are holding back a demented Kurt Angle. Angle screams at Henry before storming off. The officials continue to check on the condition of The World’s Strongest Man.

Cole: What in the world was that about?

Kennedy: It’s pretty obvious; that little chat with McMahon on Raw this Monday has fired Angle up. That right there was a direct warning to the World Heavyweight Champion, RVD.

Finlay vs. Matt Hardy

Finlay looked to make an impact on his return to Smackdown following his injury several weeks back at the hands of Bobby Lashley. But Hardy was also intent on sending a message to Randy Orton, and the result was a pretty hard hitting affair between the two. Finlay, as always, was brutal in his assault, but Hardy was determined not to fall to The Fighting Irishman and, after several minutes of back and forth brutality, Hardy finally put an end to it, delivering the Twist of Fate to pick up the win.

Winner: Matt Hardy

The fans were on their feet as Hardy was announced as the victor. But things took a turn for the worse for Hardy when Randy Orton entered the ring without him noticing and, as he turned around, he was planted into the canvas with the RKO. The fans jeers were deafening as Orton looked down at his nemesis before stretching his arms out in his patented pose, a ****y grin across his lips. The jeers soon turned to cheers however when “The Rabid Wolverine” Chris Benoit headed towards ringside. Orton begged Benoit to step through the ropes and, as he did, Orton immediately bolted from the ring, leaving Benoit seething in the ring. Orton stood on the entrance way looking into the ring. Benoit was so engrossed in his stare down with Orton, he didn’t notice Matt Hardy, who spun Benoit around and, in retaliation for what happened on Monday Night Raw, drilled Benoit with the Twist of Fate. Hardy looked at the fallen Crippler before looking up towards Orton, his face almost emotionless.

Cole: This thing has gotten seriously heated between these three men.

Kennedy: Well, Orton has bigger problems tonight when he gets in the ring with Bobby Lashley.

*****

Matthews: I’m here backstage with The Pitbulls, Jamie Noble and the New Cruiserweight Champion, Kid Kash. And guys...

Noble: Hush your mouth, boy. Do you realise who you have stood in front of you? You are standing with greatness, Josh. You know, despite what those limeys had to say earlier tonight, this right here is THE best tag team in WWE, not just today, but in the entire HISTORY of this company. Last week, my boy Kid Kash completed step one in our quest. And that quest is to become the most decorated team in the WWE. No longer will we be overlooked. No longer will we be treated like jokes. We will hold ALL the gold here on Smackdown. It started with the Cruiserweight title, and the next step is to become WWE Tag Team Champions of the world. Tell ‘em, Kid.

Kash: Just like my boy said, last week was only the beginning. We have been overlooked and underappreciated for WAY too long, and the only people who can change that are us. So that’s exactly what we do. Next week, I dispose of Super Crazy once and for all. And after that, we head straight...

Kash was cut off when Kurt Angle stormed the set, attacking both members of the Pitbulls. He threw Kash into the solid wall before applying the Ankle Lock to an unsuspecting Jamie Noble. Noble screamed in pain as officials came to stop the unprovoked attack by the Number One Contender to RVD’s title. Angle finally released the hold and fled the scene, leaving officials and Road Agents to attend to The Pitbulls.

Kennedy: Angle is determined to fire a clear warning to RVD here tonight. First Mark Henry and now The Pitbulls.

Cole: Don’t forget Ken, this may very well be the last time we see Kurt Angle in the WWE. If it is, he is sure making a lasting impressi...

We return to ringside, where John Bradshaw Layfield is already stood in the ring, accompanied by Orlando Jordan and Jillian Hall.

JBL: Last week, I stood in this ring and I made a challenge to The Undertaker to face me at The Great American Bash in a Casket Match. Now, as we all know, I never EVER back down from a fight. It’s not in my nature. However, this past Monday Night on Raw, I was the victim of an unprovoked, unrelenting attack by Paul Heymans mob known as ECW. As a result, I injured my shoulder as well as my back, and I regret to inform you all that as a result of that, I will not be able to compete against The Undertaker.

The crowd let their feelings be heard, jeering Layfield loudly at his obvious lack of guts after what happened on Monday Night Raw.

JBL: Hey, don’t blame me. I would love nothing more than to face The Phenom and finally put an end to the legend of The Undertaker. But you can thank Heyman and his misfits for causing this. You know that I would never back down from a fight unless absolutely necessary. And unfortunately, this is one of those moments. But I guarantee you that when I am fit and healthy, I WILL defeat The Undertaker, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am exactly what I say I am, and I am a WRESTLING....GOD.

The fans continue to boo JBL as Jordan and Jillian pretend to look concerned for JBL. But Bradshaw was stopped when the face of General Manager Teddy Long appeared on the big screen.

Long: Not so fast, John. Last week, you made the challenge to The Undertaker. And, after discussion with the WWE Board, we all decided that we needed another big match for the Great American Bash. So we decided to make the match OFFICIAL. At The Great American Bash, John Bradshaw Layfield will face The Undertaker in a Casket Match.

JBL: YOU CAN’T DO THAT, TEDDY. I’m injured, for Christ sake. What the hell is wrong with you?

Long: Come on, playa. You’re not injured. You know it, I know it, and these people know it. But you have two options. You can be a man and face The Undertaker one on one. Or you can refuse, breach your contract and I can fire you in the centre of that ring. It’s your choice, John.

JBL:......fine, I’ll do it. But Teddy, you will rue the day you pissed me off.

JBL drops the mic as the fans buzz at the mere thought of seeing JBL stuffed inside a casket.

Cole: Take a look, Ken, because this may be one of JBL’s final moments.

Kennedy: Oh, ye have little faith, Mikey. JBL always has a backup plan, always.

Bobby Lashley © vs. Randy Orton

Orton looked more than a little worried as he stood across from Lashley. Lashley however was more than up for the challenge, and gave chase to Orton, who tried to avoid the United States Champion at every turn. But when Lashley finally got his hands on Orton, he was in for a world of hurt as Lashley threw him around like a rag doll. Orton used every dirty tactic he could to evade Lashley, but Bobby’s brute strength gave him the upper hand every time. A swift low blow however soon turned the tables on Lashley, and Orton made the most of it, working on the back and hitting his patented modified Back Breaker for a two count. Lashley managed to get himself back into the fight and, after a Release Northern Lights Suplex, Lashley looked set to finish Orton. But an RKO from out of nowhere soon put an end to that. Orton made the cover, but Lashley grabbed hold of the rope at the very last moment. Orton waited for Lashley to rise, only to be hit by The Dominator from Lashley. He made the cover, but Orton also held onto the ropes to break the count. Lashley was enraged, and began choking Orton on the ropes. The official gave Lashley to the count of five to break the hold, but Lashley seemed to be in a trance as he continued to choke The Legend Killer. The official had no choice but to call for the bell, awarding the match, but NOT the title, to Randy Orton.

Winner (Via Disqualification): Randy Orton

The match was over, but Lashley’s punishment wasn’t, as he continued to choke the life out of Orton. Randy grabbed hold of the official and pulled him into Lashley, causing Lashley to release him and allowing Orton to high tail it up the ramp and to the back. Lashley shoved the referee down to the mat before grabbing his title belt and heading up the ramp himself. The fans actually gave Lashley a mixed reaction as he headed backstage.

Cole: Orton gets the win here, but I don’t think he knows much about it, Ken.

Kennedy: Lashley dominated a former World Champion. Who’s going to stop this freight train know as Bobby Lashley?

*****

Backstage, we see former Tag Team Champions Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro talking in the locker room.

Mercury: They can’t be serious. Great British Tag Team Champions? Who are they trying to kid?

Nitro: Well, we don’t need to worry about it, because it’s only a matter of time before we get that gold back around our waists.... can we help you?

The fans soon turn as Melina walks into the dressing room, a smug look across her face.

Melina: You can’t help me, Johnny. If anything, you should be asking me to help you. Don’t think I’ve forgotten about you, boys. You WILL pay for what you did to me.

Mercury: Oh, save it. You’re all talk, that’s always been your problem. You can make all the threats you want. It makes no difference. We’re gonna get back what we lost, no, what YOU lost for us. And this time, we won’t have you riding our coat tails.

Melina: Just you wait, boys. The time will come, and when it does, I’m going to sit back and watch you fall from grace. Nobody makes a fool of me, NOBODY.

Melina storms out, leaving Mercury and Nitro to let out a slight chuckle to themselves.

The cameras are rushed to the corridors of the Pepsi Arena, where we see officials surrounding a hurt Rey Mysterio, who has clearly been attacked, although the attacker is nowhere to be seen. Teddy Long rushes to the scene to check on the former World Champion.

Long: Rey, can you hear me playa? What happened? Who did this? Please tell me it wasn’t Kurt again?

Mysterio: No, it was that son of a...

Rey was cut off when RHINO broke through the swarm of officials and began putting the boots to Mysterio. Rhino was quickly joined by the rest of the ECW contingent, who fought off the officials as Rhino continued the beat down. But Rey was saved when several WWE Superstars arrived at the scene, causing the ECW stars to flee. Benoit was the first to help Mysterio to his feet as the rest surrounded him, protecting him from any further attack.

Meanwhile, Rob Van Dam is seen heading through the arena as he makes his way towards the ring, set for his final WWE contest against The Undertaker.

Rob Van Dam vs. The Undertaker

Van Dam looked to give the performance of his life in his final WWE match, but that was going to be an EXTREMELY difficult task when facing The Phenom. Van Dam put on a tremendous display, but The Deadman, as always, had the upper hand, landing vicious strikes to the face of the World Champion. Van Dam looked to use his speed to wear out The Undertaker, but Undertaker was fairly quick on his feet too, and kept up with the quicker Van Dam before hitting a Big Boot for a close two count. Undertaker was in the driver’s seat for a good portion of the contest, until a Springboard Side Kick to the skull of Undertaker gave Van Dam the opportunity to hit Rolling Thunder for another close two count. A Split Legged Moonsault also came close to giving RVD the victory, but Taker was able to power out at two. Things started to look bleak for Van Dam when a Springboard manoeuvre was converted into a Chokeslam by The Undertaker. The Phenom made the cut throat signal, and looked to finish the World Champion. But he was distracted when Orlando Jordan hit the ring. But Jordan was the victim of a Chokeslam. But Taker never noticed the arrival of JBL, who slid into the ring and delivered a Clothesline from Hell to The Deadman. But he wasn’t the only one to feel JBL’s wrath, as he delivered another brutal Clothesline to RVD in retaliation for what happened on Raw. The official had no choice but to call for the bell.

Result: No Contest

The fans were furious that JBL had interrupted what was shaping up to be a great contest, but Bradshaw was unfazed by the crowds jeers, dragging The Undertaker to the outside where he and Orlando Jordan began to beat down The Deadman. But RVD was about to run into a little trouble of his own when Kurt Angle stormed to the ring. Stepping through the ropes, he looked down at the wounded Champion before taking the straps down and locking in the Ankle Lock. RVD was screaming out in pain, reaching for the ropes, but Angle synched it in. Van Dam was about to be seriously injured before his bout at One Night Stand. But a commotion in the crowd soon had the fans on their feet as The Sandman, Sabu, Rhino, Shelton Benjamin and the rest of the ECW contingent headed through the Albany crowd. Angle was soon joined in the ring by several WWE Superstars. ECW jumped the rail and into the ring, and immediately the fight was on. The crowd were eating it up as the two companies’s waged war in the centre of the ring.

Cole: There is absolute carnage in The Pepsi Arena tonight. Is this a prelude to what we can expect this weekend?

The show closes with both sides going to town on each other, looking to get the upper hand before there showdown at WWE vs. ECW: Head to Head.

KURT ANGLE HIDING INJURY

Kurt Angle was apparently injured at a House Show in Atlanta several weeks ago, but failed to inform any Road Agents or other members of staff until last weekend. It's for this reason that Angle did not compete on Raw or Smackdown this week, as management do not want to risk him aggravating the injury so close to his big title match against Rob Van Dam. It's believed that certain people in high management were extremely unhappy that Angle failed to let them know about his injury so close to One Night Stand

WWE IN TALKS WITH TERRY FUNK

World Wrestling Entertainment are apparently in talks with former ECW World Champion Terry Funk to bring him on a Pay Per Appearance deal for ECW. Obviously because of his age, it is believed he would only be used sparingly on special occasions, but Vince McMahon has apparently given the all clear to sign him. Many have been surprised with just how much power McMahon has given Paul Heyman and his Head Booker to bring in talent and to make ECW as authentic as they can.

BOBBY LASHLEY: THE GOLDEN CHILD OF THE WWE?

Vince McMahon has apparently URGED WWE bookers to push Bobby Lashley HARD within the next six months, as McMahon sees him as a Main Event Player for the next few years. While the bookers are more than impressed with his look and in ring skill, they believe his promos are very weak and they don't believe he could connect with a crowd. But they are looking to address this problem in the near future, with the possibility of bringing in a manager for Lashley. Either way, it looks like Lashley will be a big time player in the not too distant future.

Non-Title Match:

Rey Mysterio vs. Rob Van Dam

-I don't see you ending two shows in a row with a no contest, so I think RVD has to win this one. He needs to be booked strong heading into his headline bout with Angle. I could see Rhino costing Mysterio the match, though if he does, I'd like to see RVD look unhappy about it & possibly confront him. That would make RVD come across as more of a babyface, and also set up a possible feud once ECW is established as its own identity.

Non-Title Match:

John Cena vs. Sabu

-Not 100% on this one. Expect Edge to show up, one way or the other.

Chris Benoit vs. Shelton Benjamin

-I think you're looking at Shelton as a major player in ECW, and this seems like a great opportunity for him to step up to the plate. Plus, Benoit could save some face if Orton and/or Hardy play a role in the finish.

Chavo Guerreo vs. Rhino

-Tough one to call. Rhino is likely to be very important to ECW, but I think Chavo needs this win if he's going to continue to hang around the upper mid-card/main event picture on Raw.

Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The Impact Players

-I like Storm, but am indifferent towards Credible.

Gregory Helms vs. Super Crazy

Non-Title Match:

Rey Mysterio vs. Rob Van Dam[/b

The Champ stays strong walking into "his" PPV.

Non-Title Match:

John Cena vs. Sabu

No matter how you cut...Cena is the face of the WWE and will never ever ever job to some idiot from a bingo hall

Chris Benoit vs. Shelton Benjamin

Shelton debuts the blond dye and thus MAKES EVERYTHING DIFFERENT :p

Chavo Guerrero vs. Rhino

Yeah, I agree with FC, a win here would reinforce Chavo's new credibilty in WWE

Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The Impact Players

I could see the Players taking this in an upset, but I'm going to with L&K for now

Gregory Helms vs. Super Crazy

Hmmm, it almost seems like each man is on the wrong side of the WWE/ECW divide...anyways, Helms to go over, with a Psychosis spotting highly probable

Non-Title Match:

Rey Mysterio vs. Rob Van Dam

No Way RVD is losing right before ONS

Non-Title Match:

John Cena vs. Sabu

Cena losing would make ECW look like a huge threat, I expect ECW funny business in this match.

Chris Benoit vs. Shelton Benjamin

Chavo vs. Rhino

Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The Impact Players

Gregory Helms vs. Super Crazy

Basically ECW has to dominate right before ONS or there isn't really a threat for WWE going into it and WWE can gain any credibility back at ONS.

*****

The show opens up in the WWE locker room, where Teddy Long, Eric Bischoff and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon are stood in front of a room of WWE Superstars. Friend and foe alike sit and listen as McMahon addresses them.

McMahon: Gentlemen, the next 48 hours are possibly the most important 48 hours in the history of this company. Tomorrow night on Pay Per View, Paul Heyman and ECW will attempt to take away not only one of our very best Superstars in Kurt Angle, they will also attempt to defecate on this company by taking OUR World Heavyweight Championship and making it their own. ECW have tried again and again to destroy what we have ALL worked so hard to create. Now, I know there are some people in this room that don’t get along with each other, who don’t get along with ME for that matter. But in the next 48 hours, we need to put those differences aside for the good of this company. This is a very testing time for all of us. We need to stand up and fight against a common enemy. Paul Heyman, Tommy Dreamer, Mick Foley and every other ECW “Star” have tried to tear this company down. Tonight, we prove that their attempts were futile; we prove that we are the most dominant brand in Sports Entertainment. WE PROVE THAT WE WILL NOT BE KILLED.

The majority of WWE Superstars cheer their support at McMahon’s speech, although there are still a number of individuals who seemed unwilling to fight beside their enemies.

Meanwhile, Paul Heyman, Tommy Dreamer and Mick Foley are stood in front of THEIR men, who are all stood together, united as one, as a family.

Heyman: In all my wildest dreams, I never thought I would get this opportunity again. In 2001, ECW was dead, buried. I resigned myself to the fact that my dream, my LIFE had been taken away from me by Eric Bischoff and Vince McMahon. And yet here we are, five years later. And I cannot express just how much it means to me that ECW is once again in OUR hands. Tomorrow night, all the hard work and sacrifice that each and every one of us has put into this venture will pay off when we finally stick the knife into the back of World Wrestling Entertainment. We take their World Title, we take their biggest star in Kurt Angle, and we take our spot as the Number One Wrestling Promotion in the world. Boys, tomorrow night a lot of you guys will be competing against each other. And I know you will tear the damn roof off The Hammerstein Ballroom. But that’s tomorrow night. Tonight, unlike Vince McMahon and the WWE, we stand united, as a family, just like we always have. Any personal grievances are put aside to fight a common enemy. Tonight is our moment, our night in the spotlight. So tell me right now, who’s dominant?

All: ECW!

Heyman: Who’s superior?

All: ECW!

Heyman: Tell me WHO WE ARE.

All: ECW! ECW! ECW! ECW!

Heyman had his trademark evil grin spread across his face as Foley and Dreamer lead the troops in a chant of “ECW” before the opening video began to roll.

Ross: The venue of last Fridays Smackdown event, The Pepsi Arena in Albany, New York is sold out as it becomes the scene of tonight’s monumental event. Welcome to WWE versus ECW: Head to Head. I’m Jim Ross and alongside me is Jerry “The King” Lawler”. And King, what a night we have in store tonight.

Lawler: You’re damn right. 10,000 people have sold out this arena, so make the most of it ECW, because this is the biggest crowd you’re ever gonna get at one of your shows. I just want to say it’s a travesty that tonight, every match is competed under ECW Rules, which is a complete crock if you ask me. And Tazz, you think you’re so tough jumping me on Monday Night, maybe you can find the guts to do it face to face like a real man rather than the punk you are.

Tazz: Hey Lawler, how about you shut your mouth before I stick my boot up your ass?

Lawler: Well, why don’t you jump down from your booster seat and take a shot.

Tazz threw his head set off and immediately headed towards Lawler, who was already up and waiting. Lawler took Tazz down and the two began throwing fists at each other as security split the two apart, the fans eating up every second of it. Tazz and Lawler finally headed back to their seats.

Styles: You think maybe we can just call the show, would that be possible?

Tazz: Sure, just tell that jackass to watch his mouth.

Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The Impact Players

With a mix of WWE and ECW fans in the crowd, both teams had a good deal of support from the crowd, but London and Kendrick were the favourites, and the two worked well to take it to the former ECW Tag Team Champions. Despite being out of the ring for over a year, Lance Storm still looked very impressive as he kept up with the two younger, faster opponents. Justin Credible almost stole a victory for The Impact Players when he struck London over the head with a Singapore Cane and, as the matches are contested under ECW Rules, it was perfectly legal. But Kendrick made the save, and after several more minutes of intense back and forth action, Kendrick picked up the win, hitting Credible with the Sliced Bread #2 for the win.

Winners: Paul London & Brian Kendrick

Lawler: HAHA. WWE get the win. How do you like that, Tazz?

Tazz: How do you like the feel of my knuckles down your neck?

Ross: For crying out loud, can we just settle down please? An exceptional performance by both teams, but London and Kendrick manage to pull one out the bag for WWE.

The cameras get a shot of the WWE locker room, where Vince and company are cheering loudly in support of London and Kendrick, giving WWE the bragging rights thus far.

*****

Grisham: I am here backstage at The Pepsi Arena. And I am joined at this time by Chris Benoit. Now Chris, you have had your problems of late with Randy Orton, as well as Matt Hardy. But tonight you fight another enemy in ECW, and their new acquisition, Shelton Benjamin.

Benoit: Credit where credit is due, Todd. Shelton Benjamin is one of the best young prospects in the wrestling business today. But what he did, when he practically spat in the face of a company that built him into a Superstar, that was a disgrace to this company. Tonight, we set out to prove our dominance. We have already proved our superiority moments ago when London and Kendrick defeated The Impact Players, and later tonight, I do exactly the same. ECW will crumble...

Benoit never did finish his sentence, as he was the recipient of a BRUTAL chair shot by “The Legend Killer” Randy Orton, the steel connecting with his skull. Orton continued to lay waste to Benoit, the chair connecting with his leg, his spine and any other body part that was exposed. Orton finally threw the chair down onto the prone body of Chris Benoit before casually walking away, the damage done.

Ross: What a vicious attack by Randy Orton, and you have to wonder just what condition Benoit will be in for his match against Shelton Benjamin later tonight.

Tazz: So good to see the WWE guys on the same page, Ross. McMahon's speech really got through to them.

*****

Paul Heyman is stood backstage with “The Man Beast” Rhino”, psyching him up for his match-up with Chavo Guerrero.

Heyman: We have this in the bag. You just saw what happened with Benoit and Orton, Vince can’t control his men. All we have to do is keep a level head and we will walk it. We’re a match down, so go out there and do what you do best. You’re an animal, a war machine, a one man wrecking crew. Go out there and prove why you were the last ever ECW Television Champion. Prove why you were the last ever ECW World Champion. Go out there and show the world exactly what you’re all about. Go get ‘em.

Rhino was psyched up, slamming his fist against the wall before storming through the corridors, more than prepared for his match with “The Latino Warrior”.

Chavo Guerrero vs. Rhino

Despite slowly climbing his way up the ladder on Raw, Guerrero was unprepared for the pure strength and violence that Rhino bought to the contest, and Chavo was on the back foot for a lot of the match, trying his best to protect himself from The Man Beast. But a failed attempt at a Gore by Rhino sent him into the turnbuckle, and gave Guerrero the chance to turn the tide. He did just that, hitting a Standing Hurricanrana, followed by a beautiful Drop Kick to the face, sending Rhino to the outside. Chavo soon followed with a Slingshot Cross Body to the outside, delighting the crowd. The two returned to the ring, where Chavo continued to keep Rhino subdued. Chavo attempted a Three Amigos Suplex, but on the third attempt, Rhino blocked it and hit a sick Snap Suplex of his own for the two count. The two continued to exchange momentum in this very physical match, until Chavo’s attempt at a Missile Drop Kick from the top was thwarted by Rhino, who side stepped the move. Chavo groggily got to his feet, and was immediately sent crashing to the mat when Rhino charged and connected with The Gore. Rhino made the cover, but Chavo got his foot on the rope at the very last second. Frustrated, Rhino prepared for another Gore, but he was unprepared for the arrival of Rey Mysterio, who hit a Springboard Drop Kick to the back of Rhino, sending him to the ropes. Mysterio followed up with the 619 before heading to the outside. Guerrero finally got to his feet and, seeing Rhino out on the mat, took advantage by heading up top and landing hard with the Frog Splash. Chavo hooked the leg and got the pinfall, earning another victory for the WWE.

Winner: Chavo Guerrero

Lawler: Oh, this is priceless. WWE get another one. Who’s dominant now?

Tazz: Seriously Lawler, just keep your mouth closed.

Lawler: Who said that? Oh, sorry Tazz. I couldn’t see you over there.

Tazz: Seriously Joey, somebody’s going home in a body bag.

Styles: As long as it isn’t me. Anyway, despite being a WWE guy, I have to give credit where it’s due, “The Latino Warrior” was impressive in picking up the win against Rhino.

Rey and Chavo head to the back together, Mysterio patting his good friend on the back for a job well done. The cameras get a shot of the WWE locker room, once again celebrating the win as we go to commercial.

*****

The familiar opening chords of “Metalingus” by Alter Bridge hit, and through the smoke steps “The Rated R Superstar” Edge, accompanied by the lovely Lita. The fans gave him a less than warm reception as he stepped through the ropes, microphone in hand. As the “you suck” chants began to die down, Edge began.

Edge: You know, for the past couple of weeks, I’ve been asked..no, I’ve been TOLD that I need to put this feud between myself and John Cena on the back burner whilst we all fight against a common threat. I’m supposed to forget the fact that at The Royal Rumble, he took MY WWE Championship away from me. I’m supposed to forget that he holds the one thing I want more than anything in the world. You know, I have no problem standing up and fighting for this company. It’s where I make a living, it’s what puts food on my table. But I’m just expected to team with a low life scumbag like John Cena, a man who isn’t even in the same league as me. Well I’ll do my part tomorrow night at One Night Stand, I’ll fight for my company. But I can’t be held responsible for what happens to John Cena. He’s gonna have to watch his own back, because he sure as hell won’t have me watching his back. Which brings me to Tommy Dreamer and Mick Foley. Let’s take a little trip down memory lane, shall we, all the way back to Monday Night Raw the night after the Royal Rumble when I beat Foley to a pulp and sent him to the emergency room. Remember that, Mick? Remember how week after week I beat you down like an animal? Hell, you even brought Tommy Dreamer in for one shot to try to take me out. And guess what? I beat him down too. And then at Wrestlemania, I had MY defining Wrestlemania moment when I pushed you off of that ladder and sent you crashing down onto a flaming table. What a moment that was, to watch you writhe around in pain, to know that I did that to you. I’ve had dreams about that moment every night since it happened. You got in my way, you blocked my road to the top of the mountain, and I eradicated you. And at One Night Stand, I do EXACTLY the same...

The Rated R Superstar was cut off when the screech of tires echoed through the arena, and out stepped Mick Foley, who got a standing ovation from the fans inside The Pepsi Arena. The reaction became even louder as Foley held a barbed wire covered 2x4 in his hand.

Foley: Edge, I remember exactly what you did. I lost a lot of brain cells that night, but I remember. I remember the pain, the anguish, the sheer agony that raced through my body as I hit the flames. But do you know what else I remember? I remember the screams of my wife as she stood by me in the backstage area, watching me being wheeled into an ambulance. I remember my daughter burying her face into the chest of Dean Malenko, our road agent, as she saw her father in agony. I remember seeing my boy Dewey shaking at the sight of Daddy-o being treated by the doctors. I REMEMBER MY FAMILY FALLING APART, because of something that YOU did to me. So when the opportunity came to get you in the ring one last time, I jumped all over it. But things will be just a little bit different tomorrow night, because my family won’t be in attendance in The Hammerstein Ballroom. My family will be one of the few that won’t be watching on Pay Per View. I won’t allow them to. Not because I don’t want them to see me in pain, but because I don’t want them to bear witness to just how sick and twisted I can be. There will be blood inside The Hammerstein Ballroom at One Night Stand. But it won’t be mine Edge, it won’t be mine...IT WILL BE YOURS. So let me give you just a little taste of what you can expect to feel tomorrow night. Bang Bang.

With that, Foley charged down the ramp and slid into the ring, where Edge was waiting, and met him with boots to the head. But Foley fought back, the crowd cheering every blow he delivered. Foley picked up the 2x4 and looked to swing, but Lita was there to take the weapon away from him, giving Edge the opportunity to hit a low blow. Edge never got a chance to follow up on the assault, as “The Innovator of Violence” Tommy Dreamer sprinted to the ring, steel chair in hand. Edge and Lita decided to bail from the ring, leaving Dreamer to check on Foley.

Ross: Edge barely escapes a beating from Tommy Dreamer, but you have to ask the question; where was John Cena?

Styles: Well after everything Edge had to say about him, it doesn’t surprise me in the least that he didn’t come to the aid of Edge.

Prior to the next match, “God’s Gift to Wrestling” Gregory Helms had a microphone in hand as he slowly made his way down the ramp.

Helms: For the past few months, I have stood by this new “family” of mine, fighting a war against the men who tried to screw over TRUE talent like myself. I’ve stood by them and waged war for the good of the company, and I’ve been happy to do so. But tomorrow night, at One Night Stand, that all ends. From tomorrow night, it’s all about me. I was held back by the likes of Teddy Long, and everybody else in management for that matter. I won’t be held back any longer. I REFUSE to be held back. I will show the world exactly why I am the very best professional wrestler in the world today. It starts with Super Crazy tonight, and tomorrow, I destroy ECW’s “Hardcore Icon” The Sandman. After that, the only way is up for “God’s Gift to Wrestling”, Gregory Helms.

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/GregoryHelms-1.jpghttp://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/versus2.jpghttp://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/SuperCrazy.jpg

Gregory Helms vs. Super Crazy

These two men were very familiar with each other from their past wars over the Cruiserweight Championship, but this match was simply for bragging rights. Crazy got a warm reception from both the WWE and ECW fans in attendance, which was no surprise considering he has links with BOTH companies. Both men were fairly evenly matched for much of the match, neither man giving an inch to their opponent. After several minutes of superb high flying action from both men, Helms decided to end things with the Shining Wizard, but Crazy avoided the move before leaping to his feat and hitting a BRUTAL Drop Kick to the face, almost knocking Helms out. Super Crazy followed up by going for the Trifecta Moonsault. After hitting two out of the three Moonsaults, Crazy headed up top for the final move to end the contest. That’s when Crazy got a glimpse of Psicosis standing at the top of the ramp, simply glaring at his former partner. Crazy screamed at Psicosis, apparently inviting him to step into the ring with him. But the distraction cost him, as Helms hit a Reverse Superplex from nowhere, sending Crazy crashing to the mat. This gave Helms an opportunity to lock in his new submission manoeuvre, The Gift from God (Cross Face Chicken Wing with a Body Scissors), causing Crazy to scream out in pain and, finally, to tap out, giving Helms the win, and giving ECW their first victory of the evening.

Winner: Gregory Helms

The fans were less than thrilled as Helms was announced the victor. Backstage, Heyman and company are showing their support for Helms, with “ECW” chants running through the locker room.

Styles: If there is one thing you should know, it’s to never EVER count ECW out.

Lawler: Wow, one victory, and you couldn’t even do that without a distraction from Psicosis. You’re all pathetic.

Tazz: You know something, it’s a minor miracle that you’re still breathing, Lawler. Typical WWE ass kisser, never giving ECW the credit it deserves. Big props to Gregory Helms there, picking up the win for ECW.

We get a shot of Randy Orton heading through the corridors of The Pepsi Arena when he is stopped by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, who is looking far from pleased.

McMahon: Do you want to explain to me what the hell you’re thinking?

Orton: What do you mean?

McMahon: What do I mean? WHAT DO I MEAN? You beat the crap out of Chris Benoit, he’s with the trainers now having a check up, that’s what I mean. What did I specifically tell everyone when we got here tonight? I said we need to stick together, work as a team, and put all these petty differences aside for...

Orton: With all due respect sir, he cost me the United States Championship. He cost me to lose something dear to me. He has been a thorn in my side for months. So for you to say that you want us to work together, well I’m sorry but that just isn’t going to happen. And if Matt Hardy wants to try his luck with me, he will get EXACTLY the same treatment.

McMahon: Maybe you didn’t hear me, so let me put it into terms you can understand.

With that, McMahon reared back and slapped Orton HARD across the face, eliciting a large groan from the crowd. Orton got right up in McMahon’s face, his eyes bulging out of his head.

McMahon: If Benoit loses his match tonight because of you, Hardy and Benoit will be the least of your troubles. That’s MY promise to you.

McMahon stormed away, leaving Orton rubbing his face where McMahons hand print was clearly visible, Orton seething at his bosses’ actions.

“Man in the Box” by Alice in Chains hit the P.A, and for the second time in the evening, out stepped Co-Owner of ECW “The Innovator of Violence” Tommy Dreamer, who got a surprisingly loud reception from the fans in attendance. Tommy had a smile on his face as he headed to the ring and stepped through the ropes, microphone in hand. Dreamer looked a little choked up as a loud “Tommy” chant went around the majority of the arena.

Dreamer: You know, after being out of the spotlight for so long and getting that kind of reception from you guys, you really have no idea how much I appreciate it. Thank you. I don’t want to take up too much of your time, but I just wanted to come out and express just how much all of this means to me. I never thought in a million years that I would ever be stood in this ring, wearing my ECW t-shirt, as co-owner of a company that I gave my life for. ECW means so much to me. It’s where I got my big break in professional wrestling, it’s where I made my living, it’s where I met my beautiful wife. Everything good and pure that has come into my life has been linked some way or another with ECW. I thought last year’s One Night Stand was ECW’s swan song, the final curtain. So to know that isn’t the case, that we will be tearing the roof off each and every week, I can’t describe how happy I am about that. But you know, I keep hearing people tonight talk about bragging rights. Tazz and Lawler have been arguing all night about bragging rights. Heyman and McMahon have done it. But you see, tonight isn’t about bragging rights to me; it isn’t about saying “We’re better than you”. Tonight isn’t about that. Tonight is about everybody at home, and everybody in this arena, it’s about putting on the very best show we can to entertain the people who support us, for the people who support professional wrestling. Not just WWE, not just ECW, but professional wrestling as a whole. There are a lot of people trying to split the audience, “well you’re either a WWE fan or an ECW fan”. There’s nothing wrong with being a fan of both. It makes you a fan of wrestling; it doesn’t make you a sell out. Heyman may not see it that way, McMahon may not see it that way, but I do. I...

Dreamer is cut off when he feels a huge boot connect with the back of his head. He looks up from the canvas and sees the imposing figure of The Big Show, who begins laying his enormous boots into the body of Dreamer. Show had clearly taken his usual pay off to decimate “The Innovator of Violence”, and drilled him with a Chokeslam. Dreamer was out on the mat, but Big Show headed outside and grabbed two steel chairs from ringside. Big Show set the chairs up side by side in the ring and lifted Dreamer up to his feet. He then wrapped his hand around the throat of Dreamer and, as several ECW competitors sprinted towards the ring to make the save, he nailed a Chokeslam through the chairs before bailing from the ring. Foley, Sabu, Sandman and Balls Mahoney were by the side of Dreamer, trying to help him to his feet as Big Show backed his way up the ramp and to the back. Dreamer was dazed as he finally got to his feet, his close friends standing by his side, united as one.

Styles: Well, Big Show was clearly paid off by McMahon and company for his services tonight, but it’s going to take a HELL of a lot more than that to keep down “The Innovator of Violence”.

We get a split screen shot of Chris Benoit and Shelton Benjamin heading through the corridors, ready for their match up which will take place next. Benoit is limping, clearly still hurt after the attack by “The Legend Killer”. Shelton has a big grin on his face, which becomes even bigger when he bumps into ECW Original Francine, who gives him a sultry wink and a slap on the back side. Shelton returned the wink before heading out for his contest with “The Rabid Wolverine”.

Chris Benoit vs. Shelton Benjamin

Despite Benoit clearly not being 100%, he and Shelton put on quite possibly one of the best matches of the year. Benoit obviously spent most of the contest trying to prevent Benjamin from causing any more damage to him. Even in his worn state, it was still incredible to see Benjamin matching Benoit hold for hold, and at one point even outsmarting Benoit and almost making The Crippler tap to a Dragon Sleeper, but the former World Champion was able to get to the ropes. Benoit managed to get to his feet eventually with HARD chops to the chest before hitting two German Suplex’s. As he went for the third, Benjamin landed on his feet and, as Benoit got to his feet, he ran straight into a Super Kick, which miraculously only got a two count. Benjamin continued to punish Benoit and headed to the apron, waiting for Benoit to rise. As he did so Shelton leapt up top for a Springboard manoeuvre, but as he came down towards Benoit, Chris grabbed his arm and brought him to the mat, locking him in the Crippler Crossface as the fans went wild. Benjamin was in obvious pain, but Benoit, who was still clearly in some pain himself, couldn’t quite lock it in as tightly as he usually would, and Shelton got himself to the ropes to break the hold. Both men were in pain, but Shelton was the first to his feet. Shelton made the most of it, hitting an STO Back Breaker before immediately hitting the Exploder Suplex, hooking the leg and getting the pinfall victory, earning Shelton another big win to add to his résumé.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin

Tazz: Take a good look at what you let get away, McMahon. You’re looking at a future ECW Champion, no doubt.

Ross: I’ll give him credit, Benjamin was incredible here tonight. But you have to wonder if the result would have been the same had Benoit been at 100%.

Grisham: I’m here with the Number One Contender for...

Angle: Shut up. Just shut your mouth and give me the mic. Heyman, you think you have it all figured out, don’t you. You’ve had this elaborate plan from day one, to take me AGAINST MY WILL and make me work for you and your pissant company. Do you want to know why I didn’t join ECW all those years ago? Because I thought it SUCKED. A bunch of drunken misfits who couldn’t cut it in the big time, so they went and performed in a bingo hall in front of a bunch of alcohol fuelled, internet geeks who wouldn’t know real wrestling if it smacked them in the face. I was WAY too talented for the likes of Heyman and ECW. But now you think you have my number. You think that this little fairytale is going to have a happy ending. Well, I’m throwing a spanner in the works. Van Dam, I hope you’re ready, because I don’t care how much those moronic ECW fans love you. I don’t care what they think of me. They can throw all the abuse, all the fancy little chants they want at me, it won’t make a difference. This fairytale will end with me winning back MY World Heavyweight Championship and taking it home to Friday Nights, where it belongs. I will not lose. I CANNOT lose. Tomorrow night, Kurt Angle becomes World Heavyweight Champion, and in doing so, I smash the dreams of every ECW fan and competitor. That’s true. That’s DAMN true.

We get a shot of WWE Champion John Cena preparing for his match against ECW’s Sabu when Jonathan Coachman walks in, looking to get a few words.

Coachman: Cena, sorry for interrupting. But I just wanted to get a few words on your upcoming match against ECW Original Sabu, as well as teaming up with your Great American Bash opponent tomorrow night at One Night Stand.

Cena: The Hammerstein Ballroom, sold out, jam packed with some of the most passionate, ruthless, blood thirsty fans you’re ever likely to meet. And they are going to be baying for blood, MY blood. I’m not going to be walking in there with rose tinted glasses, I realise that those fans are going to try to verbally rip me a new back passage. I’m fully aware of that. But I fought against worse adversity before, so I don’t have a problem with that. And, if I’m perfectly honest, I kind of have a little respect for Tommy Dreamer and Mick Foley. They are passionate about ECW, about making it a success. This is why I have no problem tearing them apart at One Night Stand. Because I’m just as passionate about WWE, about protecting this company, the company I represent as WWE Champion. Then you throw Edge into the ointment. Edge has made it crystal clear that I can’t rely on him to watch my back tomorrow night, he’s made it clear that I’m basically on my own out there. So my advice to Edge would be to stay as far away from me as possible at One Night Stand, because when I get my hands on a chair, or a trash can, or even a barbed wire baseball bat, there’s just no guessing who I’m gonna swing for. So tonight, I want Edge, Dreamer and Foley to watch, because as crazy and sadistic as Sabu is, I’m gonna show just how crazy and sadistic I can be. I’ve always said that I’ll never back down and I’ll never quit, and tonight, there will be no exception.

John Cena vs. Sabu

John Cena got a taste of what he can expect at One Night Stand the second he stepped through the ropes, as Sabu threw a steel chair full force at the WWE Champion, sending him crashing to the mat. Sabu was pretty much in control from then on, with both men getting a mixed response from the split WWE and ECW fans. Cena felt the full force of Sabu after suffering the effects of Air Sabu, with the help of a steel chair, but Sabu only managed a two. Sabu continued to effectively use the chair as a weapon, but a Spine Buster from seemingly nowhere put an end to that, and Cena covered for a two count. Cena decided to try to play Sabu at his own game, bringing a table into the ring and setting it up. But Sabu once again threw a steel chair at Cena, knocking him onto the table. Sabu pointed to the heavens before heading up top with the chair, looking to hit an Arabian Face Crusher on the champ. But Cena managed to get himself out of the way at the very last second, sending Sabu crashing through the wood. Cena made the cover, but still only managed a two count. Cena lifted Sabu up and looked to hit the F-U, but Sabu managed to get free of the move before throwing another chair at Cena, but the chair was avoided by Cena, and he once again lifted him up and hit the F-U. Cena decided he wanted to nail the point home, and locked Sabu in the STFU. Nobody really believed that Sabu would tap, but they didn’t have to worry about that as Edge sprinted to the ring. Cena got up and was immediately hit with the Spear from Edge. Edge looked down at his nemesis, and as Sabu got to his feet, he too was the recipient of a Spear. The official tried to get Edge out of the ring, but The Rated R Superstar pushed him to the ground. Wanting no more part of it, the official called for the bell, declaring the match a no contest before quickly heading to the relative safety of the backstage area.

Result: No Contest

Edge looked to do serious damage to Sabu, grabbing a steel chair and slamming it down across the spine of The Human Highlight Reel. But Sabu was saved when Foley and Dreamer headed to the ring, Dreamer visibly limping after his assault by The Big Show, causing Edge to exit through the crowd. Dreamer checked up on the fallen Sabu, but Foley was looking directly at the WWE Champion John Cena, who was slowly starting to rise. Foley grabbed a chair and was looking to nail Cena with it, but upon spotting it, Dreamer stood in front of him, urging him not to do it. Foley was confused, but he would soon become dazed as Cena pushed Dreamer into Foley, sending Mick to the outside and allowing Cena to hit the already injured Dreamer with an F-U before grabbing his title belt and heading to the back, the fans very mixed for the champ.

Ross: John Cena just sent a very clear warning shot to ECW there. Will he be the last man standing tall tomorrow night at One Night Stand?

Tazz: You must be kidding. Cena is going to get crucified in the Hammerstein Ballroom, I guarantee it.

We get another split screen as we see the two men scheduled to meet in the main event heading through the corridors. Rey Mysterio is looking very focused as he heads to the ring. World Heavyweight Champion Rob Van Dam is looking as laid back as ever, with Heyman going wild as he walks beside him, psyching him up in preparation for his showdown with Mysterio.

Rey Mysterio vs. Rob Van Dam

This would be the final showdown between these two men, with a troubled history between them after RVD cashed in his Money in the Bank Contract on Mysterio. The two went all out in this match, looking to gain the momentum for their respective companies as they head into One Night Stand. Both men had their fair share of supporters in the audience, with duelling “619” and “RVD” chants. This was a fast paced contest between the two, which was what to be expected. Mysterio almost got an early win when he set RVD up for the 619, but Van Dam headed to the outside to avoid the move. Rey quickly followed up with a Springboard Senton, landing hard on the World Heavyweight Champion. The two brawled around the ring, with Rey smashing Van Dam’s head repeatedly into the announce table. But Van Dam gained control with an Irish Whip into the steel steps. After several more minutes brawling on the outside, Van Dam rolled Mysterio into the ring. As Rey got to his feet, he caught a chair that was thrown at him, and Van Dam looked for the Van Daminator. But Mysterio ducked under it before throwing the chair at Van Dam and hitting a Drop Kick, sending the chair crashing into the skull of Van Dam for a VERY close two count. The fast paced, extreme action continued, and Mysterio went to hit a Springboard Hurricanrana, but Van Dam caught him and hit a Powerbomb into the turnbuckle before throwing the chair at Rey and finally connecting with the Van Daminator. RVD made the cover, but Rey kicked out at two. The two continued to brawl, until they both hit a Double Clothesline on each other, sending them both to the mat. Both men slowly rose to their feet, but Mysterio was immediately sent back down...when RHINO entered the ring and nailed a bone crunching Gore, retaliation for Rey’s interference earlier in the night. Van Dam looked annoyed with The Man Beast, asking him to leave the ring. But Van Dam wasn’t going to let the opportunity escape him and, heading to the top rope, he came down hard with the Five Star Frog Splash, hooking the leg and getting the final pinfall victory over Rey Mysterio.

Winner: Rob Van Dam

The crowd were ecstatic as Van Dam was declared the victor. But Rob looked less than amused, asking Rhino why he interfered. Rhino ignored him, putting the boots to Rey. Van Dam spun Rhino around and shoved him, asking just what he is thinking. The two never came to blows though, as Rhino was hit with a steel chair by Kurt Angle, sending him down to the canvas. Kurt then struck Van Dam with the steel, sending him down. Angle then wasted no time in locking in the Ankle Lock, Van Dam screaming out in agony. Van Dam would soon be saved when the locker room emptied out, and the ECW contingent headed to the ring. But the crowd exploded, as following closely behind were the WWE’s Superstars, and before they knew it, a huge brawl broke out, the fans going crazy. Whether it was Justin Credible or Super Crazy, John Cena or Shelton Benjamin, they were all laying waste to each other, the fans whipped into an absolute frenzy. Even Jerry Lawler and Tazz got in on the action, going at it with each other, Jim Ross and Joey Styles heading to safety. The show closed with both companies beating the holy hell out of each other, giving the fans a glimpse at the kind of carnage they can expect in just 24 hours at One Night Stand.

MCMAHON PRAISES BENJAMIN

Although he wouldn't admit to it in public, Vince McMahon was apparently pleasantly surprised with just how good the Shelton Benjamin/Chris Benoit match turned out at Head to Head. Apparently some of Vince's closest employees had convinced McMahon that it was Shawn Michaels who had given the image that Benjamin was a stand out performer. However, after his showing with Benoit, it was painfully obvious that Benjamin has stepped up his game, and it is believed that McMahon may finally be ready to pull the trigger on Benjamin's Main Event push.

MAJOR CHANGE TO ONE NIGHT STAND CARD

Justin Credible has been pulled out of his match against Jerry Lynn at One Night Stand. Credible apparently suffered a concussion during the final brawl that closed the show at Head to Head. He was apparently dazed when Kurt Angle threw him into the ring post, with his skull crashing against the post. He is said to be doing much better, but management don't want to risk anything catastrophic happening, and so a mystery replacement will fill the spot.

BRIAN KENDRICK: SINGLES SUPERSTAR?

Although nothing has been planned as of yet, there are rumours circulating that WWE plan to push Brian Kendrick as a singles star within the next few years. Management are apparently very impressed with his attitude backstage as well as his in ring work. Add to that the fact that Paul London is apparently in hot water with McMahon after a high school prank he pulled several months ago. It will be interesting to see if this actually comes to fruition considering McMahon's fixation with body builder types.

I was wondering if a interview with Lita could be possible. Discussing her future, Current spot in the Woman's Division. And how she feels about her decline in popularity(from her prime in 2001).:D

First of all thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoy my work. And it's funny you should mention the interview idea, as I have had an idea floating around in my head about posting interviews, mostly with the newer guys who have been bought in such as Aaron Stevens, CM Punk etc so the fans get a better understanding of these guys. But I guess a few interviews with some of the veterans of the ring wouldn't hurt either. I want to get ECW One Night Stand done and dusted first before I start doing anything like that, but I will try to get an Interview like that up as soon as possible. Thanks for your support and hopefully you continue to read and enjoy.

This is awesome!

Thanks. I've been having a read through some of my shows and, while I'm happy with a majority of it, it can sometimes seem a little too serious, it needs a little light relief injected somewhere. I thought the new website could be used to throw some of it in there.

On another note, the One Night Stand card should be posted today (tomorrow at the latest).

PREVIEW

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/rvd-anglecopy.jpg

This is quite possibly one of THE most important matches in the history of our great sport. Two men, two ICONS of their respective company's, will square off for the World Heavyweight Championship currently held by "The Whole F'n Show" Rob Van Dam. But there is much more than just gold on the line. Kurt Angle will be fighting for his WWE career, as a loss to RVD would mean that Angle, as well as the World Title, becomes sole property of ECW. Both men have so much to fight for, and will no doubt put everything on the line. Can RVD retain the gold and obtain the biggest acquisition in ECW history, or will Kurt Angle crush the dreams of the ECW faithful in The Hammerstein Ballroom?

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/edgecena-dreamerfoleycopy.jpg

Two of the three co-owners of ECW step foot in the ring to represent their company, looking to prove a point. But in their way stand possibly the two most recognisable faces on WWE's Raw brand, "The Rated R Superstar" Edge and WWE Champions John Cena. Edge and Cena are far from allies, as has been proved in the past few weeks, and it seems unlikely that the two will form a cohesive unit at One Night Stand. Add to that the rabid ECW fans that will jam pack the Hammerstein Ballroom, ready to tear the "competition" apart, and it makes for what is sure to be a monumental match. Who will walk away victorious? Only time will tell.

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/rey-rhinocopy.jpg

WWE invades One Night Stand once again as former World Heavyweight Champion and ECW original in his own right, Rey Mysterio, goes one on one with ECW's last ever Television AND World Champion, "The Man Beast" Rhino. Mysterio blames Rhino for costing him his World Championship, and with good reason. But Rhino has been unapologetic, attacking Rey at every opportunity. The two will finally settle the score this Sunday at One Night Stand, but who will prevail?

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/sabu-benjamincopy.jpg

It's "Old School versus New Breed" in this one as Shelton Benjamin looks to make an impact in his new home as he takes on "The Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal, Death Defying" Sabu. Both have worked side by side in the past few weeks as they looked to take the fight to Vince McMahon and WWE, but at One Night Stand, Benjamin will be looking to become the new face of ECW, whilst Sabu will certainly be looking to put his name firmly back on the map.

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/helms-sandmancopy.jpg

It's Old versus New once again when Gregory Helms tries to prove that "God's Gift To Wrestling" isn't just a cute moniker. But in order to do that, he has to get past a true Hardcore Icon, a former FIVE TIME ECW World Champion, The Sandman. Helms is c0cky, arrogant, self centered, but he certainly doesn't lack the confidence OR skill to make it in the Land of Extreme. But Helms has never stepped into the squared circle with a man quite like The Sandman. With a beer in one hand and a cane in the other, Helms better be prepared for a fight this Sunday in New York.

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/lynn-mysterycopy.jpg

Due to Justin Credible getting injured at WWE vs. ECW Head to Head, Jerry Lynn will now have to face a mystery opponent this Sunday. Lynn is certainly a favourite among the ECW faithful, and they will certainly be solidly behind the former World Champion. But it will be tough to prepare for this match, not knowing what he will be coming up against. But if there is one thing you can be certain of with Jerry Lynn, it's that he certainly will NOT back down.

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/bashams-whipwrecktajiri-originalsco.jpg

The match that put ECW on the map returns at One Night Stand: The Three Way Dance. And this Sunday, three teams will compete for bragging rights; Stevie Richards and Nova, former bWo members and two men certainly looking to work their way up the tag team ranks in ECW. Mikey Whipwreck and Yoshihiro Tajiri, former ECW World Tag Team Title holders, and a team also looking to build their reputation once again. And Doug and Danny, The Basham Brothers, two men who, after being held back by Teddy Long, are hungry to make an impact. A match sure to deliver the goods, but who will walk away with their hands raised?

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/balls-tanakacopy.jpg

Strap yourselves in, because this is almost guaranteed to be one of the most hard hitting contests in quite some time, as "The Chair Swinging Freak" Balls Mahoney goes head to head with former ECW World Champion Masato Tanaka. These two know each other well, once even holding the ECW Tag Titles together. But these two men will throw all friendships aside as they do battle at One Night Stand.

With all this action and a few surprises in store as well, you would be a fool to miss out on ECW One Night Stand, Live this Sunday, only on Pay Per View.

Oh man JW, sweet graphics, also this prediction contest is going to be F'N hard.

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/rvd-anglecopy.jpg

World Heavyweight Championship:

Rob Van Dam © vs. Kurt Angle

(If Angle Loses, both he AND the World Heavyweight Championship become the property of ECW)

It's the main event of the rebirth of the ECW brand...ECW's boy HAS to win. My feeling is that RVD wins and traps Kurt in his own personal hell of the land of extreme. Just him saying he doesn't want to be in ECW will be a source of major heat. I think somewhere down the line an WWE invader will come to reclaim the WHC from RVD, probably with help from Rhino. Then RVD and Rhino will feud going into a tournament to crown the ECW Champion, who will use the resurrected ECW title...Rhino will probably take that in order to restore the lineage of the title.

As for Angle, I see him trapped in ECW until the next ONS, where he'll win a match that gives him his freedom and leaves ECW, but at that point ECW should be strong enough to go without him.

http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac355/jwforever316a/edgecena-dreamerfoleycopy.jpg

Edge & John Cena vs. Mick Foley & Tommy Dreamer

This match is superbly tough to call, but at the end of the day I just don't see Edge or Cena losing in a match that has Tommy Dreamer. I think it'll be an amazing match, in which Foley may turn on Dreamer leading to feud.

Rey Mysterio vs. Rhino

I think the weight up here is either damaging the Smackdown brand or giving Rhino a big win...and I think we're going to have to go with Rey on this, because Rhino losing could be made a good thing, sending in massive anger and jealousy of RVD and his win, which will serve the story well.

On a separate note; Rey is going to get friggen boo'd in this match. Completely. I think the fans will also be suspicious of Rhino, but as a guy who wants to be in ECW against a guy who doesn't, they're going to boo Rey. Yes, ECW fans respect good wrestlers...but Rey will/would be boo'd here. Not full blast heat, but still, solid enough. So instead of sending Rey out there with ECW printed on the back of the mask, have him play to it sightly, because this is going to be the only time in his entire career where he could be an effective heel.

Sabu vs. Shelton Benjamin

Shelton to take this I think. Sabu's credibility can't really be dented, his career has been too good for that now. SB winning his match will say "SB is going to a top player in ECW" and that should be a major goal of ECW's.

Gregory Helms vs. The Sandman

The reason I'm going with Sandman there is this; he's not like Sabu. Since ECW went out of business Sabu was able to maintain his amazing career in TNA and such. Sandman, although in TNA, never really took off there. So if comes back to his home, ECW and loses to Helms I think there's going to be questions over his credibility. Helms is on the up for sure, but frankly Sandman needs this more right now.

Jerry Lynn vs. ???

??? could be anybody, it really could. Could be indy, could be WWE, could even be Terry Funk, although I doubt it. Whoever it is, I'm think it could be interesting. I doubt it's going to be someone who could beat Lynn since that person would be someone who'd look for a push, and if someone like that was going be brought in at this stage we'd know about them already.

The Bashams vs. Whipwreck & Tajiri vs. Stevie & Nova

I think the Bashams might be favourites here to win but I think if they do then ECW's tag division doesn't really have anywhere to go storywise since the Bashams will have already proved themselves on the grand stage. I mean, ONS is pretty much Wrestle-mania for the ECW brand. I think if you're going to reform the Unholy Alliance might as well give them the win (although in real life Mikey was retired by this stage and would likey not be interested in wrestling full time. Also Tajiri is longing for home and his wife...)

Balls Mahoney vs. Masato Tanaka

I'm not sure if Tanaka is back for good or not, but if he is then he's getting the win. If he's not, Balls is.
