ECW on Sy Fy 3/16/10

Goldust vs. William Regal

William Regal did battle with a man who he has problems with in the past, the Flamboyant Goldust, using his mat wrestling to batter Goldust, but Goldust fought down from underneath. A series of forearm smashes rattle Regal, drawing cheers, as Goldust gets a nearfall with a kneelift and bulldog combination move. Regal slides down from an attempted vertical suplex and hits a belly to back suplex on Goldust before connecting with the Knee Trembler for the pin.

Winner: William Regal(7:22, B-)

Regal cuts a promo talking about his Best Two out of Three Match with Shelton Benjamin for the ECW Championship at Wrestlemania 26. Regal vows to exert his superiority by winning two straight two falls. A bold claim by Regal but he seems determined to back it up at Wrestlemania 26.

We cut to pre-recorded comments by Edge and Christian, who promise to capture the Unified Tag Team Titles against the Hart Dynasty. They seem determined, but the Hart Dynasty are perhaps the best tag team in WWE today and have earned that Unified Tag Team Title reign that they have held.

Bryan Danielson vs. ECW Champion Shelton Benjamin(Non Title Match)

Both men shake hands to start out and exchange some holds on the canvas. Eventually Danielson catches Shelton with a kneelift and takes him down with a double underhook suplex, before dropkicking him in the face for a two count. Danielson bends down and hammers away at Shelton with a series of elbow strikes but he makes the mistake of catching a kick from Shelton, allowing a Dragon Whip to connect for a two count. Shelton beats on Danielson but T-Bone Suplex is elbowed out of. Danielson hits a Samoan Drop and to the outside, hitting a diving headbutt to Benjamin for a two count. German Suplex gets another nearfall and a second German Suplex is reversed into a cradle. Spin kick into the corner and jumping avalanche right into a fisherman suplex but Danielson rolls the shoulder up. Shelton hammers away at Danielson and leaping dropkick but William Regal is out on the ramp, to get a better look at the proceedings. Shelton is distracted, as he hits an Oklahoma Side Roll to Danielson for another nearfall. He backs off, and baseball slide dropkicks Regal as he gets closer to the ring, before walking into a small package from Danielson for the pin.

Winner: Bryan Danielson(12:55, B-)

Regal knocks Danielson to the floor and brawls with Shelton but out comes Vladimir Koslov and Ezekiel Jackson, who help Regal beat down Benjamin three on one. The Ruthless Roundtable is really doing a number on Benjamin. Danielson enters the ring and helps fight them off, but it still too much, until Matt Hardy rushes out, to help make the save, and as a result, Matt Hardy, Bryan Danielson, and Shelton Benjamin manage to fight off the Ruthless Roundtable.

**********************Commercial Break*******************

Booker T, R-Truth, and Evan Bourne vs. Ted DiBiase, Zack Ryder, and the Big Show

The fans are cheering, as Booker T, R-Truth, and Evan Bourne kick off this Money in the Bank Match by running wild and knocking their opponents for a loop. The six men in this match, along with Matt Hardy and Bryan Danielson will square off in the Money in the Bank Match for a shot at any world championship of their choosing at any time from Wrestlemania 26 to Wrestlemania 27. Evan Bourne was cut off and beaten in the ring three on one with Show, DiBiase, and Ryder taking turns beating down Bourne and he managed to fight out of the corner, before he makes the hot tag to Booker T, who is a house of fire, knocking all of his men around. R-Truth rushes into the ring and wipes out DiBiase with the Lie Detector but Ryder takes R-Truth down with the Ruff Ryder. Evan Bourne wipes out Ryder with a cross body, which sends both men to the floor. The Big Show goes for a Choke Slam on Booker T but Booker kicks out. Harlem Side Kick rocks the Big Show, dropping him to a knee and Booker T backs up, before he hits a second Harlem Side Kick and then a third one. This one is enough to drop the tree and for Booker T to score the pin.

Winner: Booker T, Evan Bourne, and R-Truth(13:02, C+)

The trio of Booker T, Bourne, and R-Truth our your winners, with Booker scoring a huge victory over the Big Show tonight, as all six men, along with Matt Hardy and Bryan Danielson prepare for the Money in the Bank Match.

WWE Superstars 3/18/10

Josh Mathews welcomes up to Superstars, talking about how there are three big exclusive matches, including the main event, featuring the number one contender for the United States Title, MVP against Carlito from RAW. Right now, let’s get down to the ring for the superstars of ECW.

Yoshi Tatsu and the Hurricane vs. Vance Archer and Tyler Reks

A pretty by the numbers tag team match, with the Hurricane being cut off and being double teamed by the heels for most of this match. The Hurricane is fighting them off and manages to dropkick Archer, before making his way to the corner and hot tag to Yoshi Tatsu. Yoshi enters the ring, and is a house of fire, knocking both men around. The Hurricane hits a high cross body to Archer and Yoshi Tatsu hammers away at him, before hitting a roundhouse kick on Reks to score the pin.

Winners: The Hurricane and Yoshi Tatsu(7:02, C)

Yoshi Tatsu and the Hurricane get the win tonight on Superstars on WGN America.

We go to a recap of ECW, featuring Bryan Danielson and Shelton Benjamin, with Danielson winning after Shelton was distracted by William Regal. Regal and his Roundtable beat up Shelton but Danielson and Matt Hardy fight them off. This sets up a six man tag team match, with William Regal, Ezekiel Jackson, and Vladimir Koslov taking on Shelton Benjamin, Bryan Danielson, and Matt Hardy. Also all of the late breaking Wrestlemania news as the road to Wrestlemania winds down.

Still to come, Carlito and MVP. Coming up next, a recap of Smackdown, plus an exclusive match from that brand.

******************Commercial Break********************

Smackdown recap, featuring the closing moments of Christian and CM Punk, with Punk winning, thanks to a bit of a distraction from the Hart Dynasty. We then cut to Monday, where Punk and the Hart Dynasty’s collision continues, as they kidnap Stephanie McMahon which causes Triple H to lose his match with Batista by countout. Josh Mathews talks about how Triple H will be at Smackdown and no doubt after Punk’s blood after Punk had his wife kidnapped. Also, John Morrison and the ECW Champion Shelton Benjamin meets William Regal and Chris Jericho. Speaking of the Hart Dynasty, all three of them are in action, against the trio of Jimmy Wang Yang, Kung Fu Naki, and Maria.

Kung Fu Naki, Jimmy Wang Yang, and Maria vs. the Hart Dynasty

Most of this match featured Natalya and Maria, with Kidd and Smith illegally helping their partner behind the back of the referee. Maria manages to fight out and hot tag to Jimmy Wang Yang, who runs wild, knocking both Kidd and Smith around. Some chaotic action and several nearfalls, but Natalya trips Yang up. Maria goes after Natalya, but Kidd hits a springboard dropkick, sending Yang into a belly to back suplex from Smith to score the pin.

Winners: The Hart Dynasty(6:40, C+)

The Hart Dynasty get the win tonight. The Unified Tag Team Champions take their belts, as they are going to defend their belts against Edge and Christian at Wrestlemania 26.

*****************Commercial Break*****************

A highlight package of the three Wrestlemania rewind matches. This Monday is the last stop on the road to Wrestlemania 26 and the Rock will be in the house, six days before he returns to the WWE ring for the first time in over six years to challenge Randy Orton for the WWE Championship. Now let’s get down to the ring for the main event on Superstars.

MVP vs. Carlito

The announcers talk about how Carlito has not been able to get any traction as of a late but a win over the number one contender for the United States Title might get him noticed. Carlito beats on MVP but MVP returns fire with some quick nearfalls. Somehow Carlito gains advantage, working over MVP with a series of moves, including a tornado DDT. Carlito appears to have a fire lit underneath him, having been left out in the cold as far as Wrestlemania 26 is concerned. Backstabber is blocked and MVP hits a leaping forearm, before connecting with the Ballin’ Elbow to cheers. MVP kicks Carlito and sets him up for the Playmaker which scores the pin.

Winner: MVP(8:08, B-)

The Miz is out after the match taunting MVP, as the fans boo. The Miz talks about how he’s on the biggest stage of them all and how he’s going to expose MVP as the fraud he is. The Miz says that MVP will pay for costing Miz his chance to compete in Money in the Bank, ignoring the fact that it was revenge for Miz costing MVP his match first. MVP invites the Miz into the ring but the Miz says he’s not dressed to wrestle. Carlito is back up and attacks MVP from behind, but MVP fights him off. The Miz enters the ring and attacks MVP but MVP fights him off and sends the Miz packing with a clothesline. The Miz tried to attack MVP but it backfired and MVP stands in the ring. He has his sights set on the United States Championship and he’ll get a chance at that prize at Wrestlemania 26.

WWE Smackdown 3/19/10

Hype for tonight’s feature tag team match, featuring John Morrison and the ECW Champion Shelton Benjamin squaring off against the World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho and William Regal. Right now, let’s get down to the ring for a preview match involving two of the men in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

Matt Hardy vs. Ted DiBiase

Some impressive action between these two men, with DiBiase gaining the advantage after a few minutes of counter wrestler, wiping Hardy out with a Hotshot across the top rope and a swinging neckbreaker. DiBiase continues the assault but attempted Dream Street is elbowed out of and Hardy gets the Side Effect for a two count. Matt Hardy picks up DiBiase and elbow strike after elbow strike drilled across the back, before a suplex sets up a second rope legdrop for a nearfall. Matt Hardy beats on DiBiase and a belly to back suplex. Moonsault connects to DiBiase for another nearfall and Hardy hammers away at DiBiase, before setting up him for the Twist of Fate but DiBiase hangs on and shoves Hardy off. Powerslam by DiBiase brings Hardy down and DiBiase picks up Hardy, before hitting the Dream Street for the pin!

Winner: Ted DiBiase(9:22, B)

Money in the Bank is hyped up with Matt Hardy, Bryan Danielson, Evan Bourne, R-Truth, Booker T, Zack Ryder, Ted DiBiase, and the Big Show, with a championship shot at any point in the next year hanging in the balance.

William Regal and Chris Jericho talk backstage, proclaiming their mutual respect for each other and vowing to take out Shelton Benjamin and John Morrison tonight. They have dastardly intentions tonight for their Wrestlemania 26 opponents.

***********************Commercial Break******************

Kane vs. Chris Masters

The Masterpiece tries to take Kane down but Kane is just a bulldozer of destruction, as he prepares for his WWE Intercontinental Title Match with Dolph Ziggler at Wrestlemania 26, which will be no countouts and no disqualification. Masters manages to catch Kane with a Polish Hammer but he can’t quite get on the Masterlock and Kane hits a huge big boot before hitting the Choke Slam right on Masters to score the academic pin.

Winner: Kane(4:04, C+)

Right after the match, Dolph Ziggler rushes out, leaping to the top rope, with the WWE Intercontinental Title Belt in hand and he attacks Kane from behind. The gold is driven right between the shoulder blades of Kane and Ziggler applies a rear naked choke to further punish Kane but Kane is fighting out of the hold. Ziggler is staggered back and Kane chokes Ziggler, but Ziggler wisely grabs onto the ropes to block and scurries to the outside. His attempt to injure Kane before Wrestlemania 26 backfired. Kane and Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Intercontinental Title at Wrestlemania 26 in a No Countout, No Disqualification Match. Ziggler won’t be able to save his title against the Big Red Machine this time!

********************Commercial Break****************************

Edge and Christian vs. Mike Knox and Charlie Haas

Haas and Knox are battered for the first couple of minutes, but Knox manages to get the heat on Christian with a vicious clothesline. Both Haas and Knox really batter Christian in the corner, as the fans are trying to rally behind him, getting him to make the hot tag. A vicious Bicycle Kick/German Suplex combination move nearly spells the doom for Christian. Knox beats on Christian and goes up top, but eats a dropkick. Hot tag made to Edge, who storms into the ring, beating down both Knox and Haas. Christian quickly takes Knox to the floor, allowing Edge to Spear Haas down for the pin.

Winners: Edge and Christian(7:33, B-)

Edge and Christian get the win but not before the Hart Dynasty enter the ring and jump them. David Hart Smith, Tyson Kidd, and Natalya are in the ring. The fans go silent, when Smith hits Edge right in the Achilles Tendon, the same one that put on the shelf for several months and Edge is promptly pitched to the floor, allowing the Hart Dynasty to wipe out Christian with the Springboard Hart Attack. Kidd gets on the microphone and mockingly states that those with the benefit of flash photography, here’s a five second pose, the destruction of Edge and Christian by the Hart Dynasty. The Hart Dynasty stands over a downed Christian, as Edge is on the floor, favoring his foot. He might have reinjured it thanks to that brutal shot by David Hart Smith. That could put a damper on the Unified Tag Team Title Match at Mania.

*********************Commercial Break**********************

Kung Fu Wang are in the ring for a match with Eric Escobar and Chavo Guerrero but Triple H storms from the back. Chavo quickly gets kicked and driven down with the Pedigree. Kung Fu Wang get wiped out with a double clothesline and Escobar gets hit with a spine buster before Triple H exits the ring and grabs a sledgehammer, which causes Escobar to wisely bail, before he suffers any more punishment. Triple H says that he would have thought Punk learned from the actions of Randy Orton last year, who decided to make it personal by getting Stephanie involved. Triple H says that if Punk wants to make a name for himself, he has no problem with that but when you bring a man’s wife into the situation, then Punk has taken this from professional into the level of being personal. Triple H says that he wants Punk out here right now and he wants Punk to return Stephanie safely.

Bret Hart comes out to interrupt Triple H with security. The Hitman says that he’s not the biggest supporter of Triple H but the Smackdown General Manager says that he agrees that Punk took things a step too far. Bret Hart says he has a show to run and tells Triple H to leave the ring. When Triple H refuses, the Hitman adds that he’ll make the match between Triple H and CM Punk at Wrestlemania 26 a No Disqualification Match. Triple H says that it doesn’t matter to him, all it matters is that the bell won’t ring when Triple H tries to remove Punk’s head from his shoulders by any means necessary once the match starts. Security enters the ring and Triple H grudgingly leaves, vowing that if he catches sight of Punk backstage, there will be no match at Wrestlemania 26. Triple H is escorted backstage by security, as CM Punk and Triple H will now be a no disqualification match in nine days at Wrestlemania 26.

*******************Commercial Break*********************

R-Truth, Mark Henry, and Finlay vs. Jack Swagger, Zack Ryder, and Sheamus

Mark Henry beats down Swagger and Ryder, before brawling with Sheamus. The tag is made to R-Truth, who enters the ring, hammering away at Sheamus with chops and punches, but Sheamus takes R-Truth out and a three on one beatdown in the corner. Ryder leaps off the top rope into the extended boot of Truth and Truth makes the tag to Finlay, who enters the ring, taking Ryder and Swagger out, before he is one on one with Sheamus. Finlay beats Sheamus in the ring and kneelift right into the chest. A series of vicious chops in the chest, reddening the white chest of Sheamus, before Finlay backs up but Sheamus boots in. Finlay is hammered away and Sheamus quickly grabs Finlay’s shillelagh from the ring apron, before he waffles Finlay with it for the disqualification.

Winner By Disqualification: R-Truth, Mark Henry, and Finlay(8:01, B)

R-Truth attempts to interfere but Sheamus waffles him with the weapon. A shot to Mark Henry as well and Sheamus goes underneath the ring, before he pulls a table out. Sheamus grabs Finlay and beats on him, setting him up for a power bomb off of the ring apron through the table but Finlay counters with a low blow before he hits a high back body drop, sending Sheamus right through the table! The fans are cheering, as Sheamus lands hard, clutching his back and Finlay drops down, before he begins beating Sheamus like a dog with his shillelagh. Security drags a crazed Finlay off, as Sheamus is down, with welts all over his skin where Finlay attacked him.

We cut backstage, where Vince McMahon and Drew McIntyre is standing by backstage, talking about the Undertaker. Mr. McMahon talks about how he is going to give a eulogy for the Undertaker’s streak this Monday on RAW, before it ends in nine days at Wrestlemania 26. McMahon says that he has anointed Drew McIntyre as a future World Champion and he’ll start living up to that promise, by starting his own Wrestlemania winning streak by ending the Undertaker’s. Vince says that he doesn’t care if Bret Hart is in the Undertaker’s corner, because if Bret gets in Vince’s way, Vince will punch Bret out. McIntyre concludes the promo, saying that the party will be over for the Undertaker’s fans.

***********************Commercial Break********************

Shad vs. Batista

Shad hammers away at Batista with a series of punches and beats on Batista, but Batista gets a quick advantage with a spear. He brutalizes Shad, hammering him into the corner. Lariat to the back of the head and a spinebuster connects, before Batista hoists up Shad and hits a Batista Bomb on Shad for the pin.

Winner: Batista(3:32, B)

Batista gets the win with a commanding performance on Shad, leading up to his match against John Cena at Wrestlemania 26.

We cut to a precorded promo cut by CM Punk, who assures Triple H that Stephanie is safe and Punk says that he hopes to save her from the negative corruptive influence that is Triple H. Punk does this, not because he wants to, but because he has to. Punk says that he has no great joy and he says at Wrestlemania 26, he will have no great joy in beating Triple H. Punk says that Triple H will accept that straight edge is the only thing that matters in this world and he will accept it. It might take a severe beating by Punk to make it work but Punk once again states that he does it out of necessity. Punk says that Triple H will thank him for enriching both his life and the life of his wife as well. Punk has a sadistic smirk, as he says that he might have to take Triple H apart so he can be put together the right way. He concludes the promo saying that straight edge is better than everyone and he will prove that at Wrestlemania 26.

************************Commercial Break********************

John Morrison and the ECW Champion Shelton Benjamin vs. William Regal and the World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho

The fans pop big for Morrison and Benjamin as they shrug off an attack at the bell before sending Regal and Jericho to the floor and jumping on their respective Wrestlemania opponents with dives. Eventually, Morrison pounds away at Regal in the ring, taking him down with a headscissors and a running dropkick to the face, before he beats on him, hitting a snap suplex and making the tag to Shelton Benjamin who hits a springboard elbow drop on Regal for a two count. Benjamin hammers away at Regal with chops and into the corner. Jumping avalanche in the corner sets up a Northern Lights Suplex for a two count. Benjamin beats on Regal but Jericho grabs his foot from behind. Baseball slide to Benjamin but Regal attacks Benjamin from behind and hooks him. Half Nelson suplex gets the heat on Benjamin who is beaten down in the center of the ring. Regal with a series of forearms and vicious European Uppercuts, before hitting a backbreaker to Benjamin. Tag is made to Chris Jericho, who delivers a springboard legdrop with Benjamin’s back folded over the knee of Regal for a two count. Jericho hammers away at Benjamin some more, before running him into the corner. Faceplant sets up a lionsault for another nearfall.

Regal and Jericho make some quick tags, trying to wear down the ECW Champion. Benjamin manages to catch Jericho with the Dragon Whip and hot tag made to Morrison but Regal was distracting the referee, which forces the referee to put Morrison back into the corner, due to him not seeing the tag. Morrison argues, allowing Regal and Jericho a couple of moments to viciously double team Benjamin in the corner. Benjamin manages to fight out and make the hot tag to Morrison, who runs wild. Springboard into a leg lariat wipes out Regal and Jericho attacks Morrison, but Morrison ducks a charge and Pele Kick brings Jericho down. Standing shooting star press but Jericho kicks out. Morrison grabs Jericho in a front facelock and flips onto his back with a somersault neckbreaker. Broken up at two by Regal. Shelton Benjamin springboards off of the back of Morrison, dropkicking Regal to the floor, before he leaps over the top rope with a somersault plancha. Both men are down on the floor and the referee has his back to them for a minute, as Morrison charges Jericho but Jericho grabs him and drops him facefirst right onto the top of the ringpost, before dropping down and flipping over with a jack-knife cradle. The referee did not see Jericho illegally use the ring post and this allows Jericho to score a pin over Morrison!

Winners: Chris Jericho and William Regal(13:44, B)

Jericho has pinned his challenger for Wrestlemania 26 by illegal means. This is the second time in a row that Jericho has beaten Morrison. Can Morrison rebound with the title on the line? Or will Jericho add another feather in his cap, retaining the belt in the Wrestlemania 26 main event against John Morrison.
