WWE Monday Night RAW 7/12/10

Randy Orton comes out, cutting a promo about how Kofi thinks that he pulled one over on Orton last week but Orton had nothing to gain by beating DiBiase. One day, Orton and DiBiase will have a proper match and Orton will be the better man but on Saturday Night’s Main Event in six days, Orton will show Kofi who the better man is. Kofi has been riding on that one pinfall victory over Orton back on January for the past six months. They’ve had countouts, disqualifications, and inconclusive finishes since then. This Sunday, Orton says there will be a winner, as their WWE Championship match will be no countout, no disqualification, and no time limit. Orton says there will be a decisive winner. Out comes Kofi Kingston, who says that Orton will have no excuses. Tonight, both men will compete in a tag team match, where each man can choose any partner on RAW. Orton says that there is an entire lockerroom of competitors lining up to be Orton’s partner, while he warns that anyone who dares team up with Kofi Kingston, is going to suffer one punt right to the head. Kofi says Orton will talk the talk but he’ll find a partner tonight and pin Orton’s shoulders to the mat six days before he does it again to win the WWE Championship. Orton invites Kofi into the ring but Cody Rhodes jumps Kofi from behind and beats him up. Rhodes and Orton beat on Kofi Kingston but Kofi fires back. Orton leaves the ring and Rhodes gets knocked out with the Trouble in Paradise. Rhodes took a nasty hit right to his head. Something tells me we can rule Cody Rhodes out for being the partner.

Melina, Gail Kim, and Beth Phoenix defeated Katie Lea Burchill, Jillian, and Natalya when Beth Phoenix pinned Jillian with the Glam Slam in 7:22 Diva’s action here on RAW, as the WWE Undisputed Women’s Champion Mia Mancini and Maryse take this time to talk some trash about Mickie James, who Mancini will defend against on Saturday Night’s Main Event. Gail Kim plays face in peril until she makes the hot tag to the Glamazon, who runs wild. Maryse says that Mancini has nothing to prove against Beth Phoenix, as she’s already beaten the Glamazon but yet it seems like Mancini has been ducking her. Before this can be hammered out, the Glamazon hits the Glam Slam on Jillian for the pin. ©

Sheamus cuts a promo, talking about how he destroyed the Big Show. Sheamus talks about how he wants championship gold and he’s going to cut down anyone in his path to get it. Sheamus says tonight he’s going to begin building his path to the top.

Sheamus pinned R-Truth with the Celtic Cross in 7:22 Sheamus showed an impressive amount of fire, beating a former Unified Tag Team Champion, decking him with a big boot and then hitting the Celtic Cross for the pin. (B)

Ezekiel Jackson and Rene Dupree defeated Jamie Noble and the WWE United States Champion MVP when Dupree pinned MVP after Jackson hit him with a choke slam in 6:22 Noble, MVP, and Dupree will meet in a Triple Threat Match for the United States Title as part of Saturday Night’s Main Event but tonight Noble and MVP are partners, against Dupree and Jackson. Noble was fired up but perhaps a bit too fired up, as he allowed Jackson, the illegal man, to sneak in and take out MVP, allowing Dupree to score a simple pin on MVP, gaining a bit of a psychological edge against the United States Champion leading up to their Triple Threat Match this Sunday. (B-)

Burchill cuts a promo, talking about his match with Edge this Saturday. Edge could take his beating like a man but Burchill’s patience was tuned down when Edge waffled with a crutch last Monday. Burchill says Edge shouldn’t try and get the victory but if he’s going to give Burchill a fight, then Burchill will win the fight. Burchill talks about a green caped demon from his past as well, named the Hurricane. We see footage from last November, where Burchill lost to the Hurricane and thus was sent packing from ECW. Burchill thanks the Hurricane because leaving ECW was the best thing that ever happened to him but people still snicker that Burchill could never beat a grown man who dressed himself up as a superhero. Burchill says he will be respected and tonight he’s going to prove that the Hurricane’s triumph over him was a fluke.

Paul Burchill pinned the Hurricane with the Curb Stomp in 3:44 Needless to say, Burchill obliterated the Hurricane, trying to erase his past failure and Curb Stomped him for the pin after nearly four minutes of beating the Hurricane to a pulp. (B)

Burchill batters the Hurricane, until Edge is out from the back, still limping. Burchill and Edge go back and forth, as Edge pulls Burchill to the floor but Burchill fights back with a kick to the injured foot of Edge, before pounding on him. Edge is slammed into the steps and Burchill says he’s going to wait until the entire world sees Edge’s destruction on NBC and Burchill will pin Edge’s shoulders to the mat. Whatever’s left of him at Summerslam might still get the title shot but Burchill won’t be denied.

Out comes Randy Orton, who introduces his mystery partner, a fellow third generation star, David Hart Smith. Smith makes his way out and Kofi Kingston comes out, saying that pretty much everyone in the back asked him to be his partner, to get a shot at Randy Orton, but one man was gung ho with the possibility of mixing it up….”THE REDNECK MESSIAH” JAMIE “BY GAWD” NOBLE. Out comes Noble, for his second match tonight.

Kofi Kingston and Jamie Noble defeated David Hart Smith and Randy Orton when Noble made Smith submit to the Guillotine Choke in 8:55 This was an impressive tag match that mostly spiraled into a one on one contest, when Kingston and Orton brawled to the back. This allowed Noble and Smith to have a back and forth match, with Noble hitting him with a leg lariat, before locking on the Gullotine Choke for the submission. (B+)

Hype for Saturday Night’s Main Event as we fade out.

ECW On Sy Fy 7/13/10

Justin Gabriel lasted 10 minutes against Carlito Carlito seemed to think this match is a wash. He beats on Gabriel, but Gabriel fights back. Several nearfalls but Carlito fights back, yet cannot get the pin until the time limit expires. (D+)

Carlito looks disgusted but he shakes Gabriel’s hand and raises his hand, before he takes a bite out of his apple and spits it into the face of Gabriel, before giving him the Back Stabber. Carlito stomps Gabriel a few more things and leaves the ring.

Drew McIntyre cuts a promo, vowing to keep the ECW Championship against whoever wins the series.

Kaval pinned Charlie Haas with a backslide in 12:02 Lots of suplexes, strikes, and submission holds in this match, but Kaval catches Haas with a series of kicks. Haas hammers away at Kaval and German Suplex for a nearfall. Belly to back suplex but Kaval lands on his feet and backslide brings him down for the pin. (B-)

Recap of the Best of Seven Series, where both men are 2-2.

Shelton Benjamin pinned Bryan Danielson with a rolling cradle in 14:22 Shelton Benjamin pulls ahead in the series, beating Danielson in a back and forth match, with many nearfalls. Danielson tried to get on the Cattle Multiation but Benjamin fights out. Dragon Suplex is reversed into a cradle for the pin. (B)

Hype for tonight’s main event, a Triple Threat Tag Team Match from Friday Night Smackdown, with Cryme Tyme, Lance Cade and William Regal, and the Fortunate Sons battling against each other.

Bryan Danielson pinned Shelton Benjamin in Match Six of the Best of Seven Series, when Danielson pinned Benjamin with a Samoan Drop off of the middle rope rope to tie up the series in 10:02 Shelton was in the driver’s seat for this match, as he was one victory away but Danielson fought back. Lots of quick nearfalls and Benjamin is on the top rope, but Danielson elbows away at him, before hitting a Samoan Drop off the second rope, scoring the pin. (B)

Hype for match seven on Saturday Night’s Main Event, with the winner challenging Drew McIntyre for the ECW Championship at Summerslam.

Zack Ryder cuts a promo, talking about how he is the best natural athlete on RAW and he calls out Chris Masters, talking about how Masters cheap shotted him ten days ago on RAW. Out comes Masters for the match.

Chris Masters made Zack Ryder submit to the Masterlock in 0:20 Ryder turned to pose and Masters quickly locked him in the Masterlock for the submission. Masters shook Ryder like a ragdoll and he submitted easily, to a few cheers from the crowd. (D-)

Hype for Smackdown this week, with several big matches leading into Saturday Night’s Main Event. CM Punk goes for the bounty that Ted DiBiase put on the head of Batista, when he goes one on one with the Animal. Also DiBiase will square off with Matt Hardy, Evan Bourne meets Chris Jericho, and Rey Mysterio goes against Mike Knox.

Yoshi Tatsu pinned Tyson Kidd with a Victory Roll out of the corner in 8:01 Back and forth action in the ring, as the Tatsu and Truth against Hart Dynasty feud continues. Yoshi beats on Kidd in the corner and then rolls him up with a Victor Roll for the pin. (B-)

The Fortunate Sons defeated Cryme Tyme and William Regal and Lance Cade when Hennig pinned JTG with the Perfect Plex in 12:02 Three of Smackdown’s top teams battled each other for a chance to get in the tag title hunt. As it turned out the Fortunate Sons were the victors, pulling out the win, when Joe Hennig put JTG away with the Perfect Plex. (B-)

Hype for tomorrow night’s huge night of matches on Smackdown, leading into Saturday Night’s Main Event.

WWE Smackdown 7/16/10

Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler defeated John Morrison and the WWE Intercontinental Champion Christian when Swagger pinned Christian with the Gutwrench Power Bomb in 9:44, after the Fortunate Sons got involved. An impressive tag team encounter to kick things off on Smackdown. The Fortunate Sons, who will be meeting Morrison and Christian tomorrow night on Saturday Night’s Main Event, get involved and this allows Swagger to jump Christian and put him down with the Gutwrench Power Bomb. Swagger has just pinned the WWE Intercontinental Champion and that has to put him in line for a title shot. (B)

Chris Jericho and CM Punk cut a state of the Straight Edge address. Punk talks about how the next seventy two hours are going to be the crowning achievement for Punk and Jericho. Tonight, Punk’s going to collect the one million dollars on Batista by facing him tonight in the main event. Tomorrow night, it will the Unified Tag Team Titles around the waists of Punk and Jericho. Next Monday, Punk will have the control of the company in his grasp and the fates of the entire WWE Universe in the palm of his hand. We take you back to last week where Vince McMahon had fallen off the wagon and in the last week, the paperwork has been filed and there isn’t a McMahon who can challenge Punk now, given Vince had alienated his entire family with his wicked ways. Now Punk gives the microphone to Jericho, who promises to beat Bourne.

Evan Bourne defeated Chris Jericho via disqualification when Punk shoved Bourne off the top rope in 8:22 Bourne and Jericho had another back and forth contest, but it looked as if Bourne was going to score a win but Punk shoved him off for the disqualification. This lead to double teaming on Bourne, until Rey made the save. Mysterio and Bourne defend the Unified Tag Team Titles against CM Punk and Chris Jericho in a Best Two Out of Three Falls Match as part of Saturday Night’s Main Event. (B+)

Mickie James, Maria, and Kelly Kelly defeated Layla, Michelle McCool, and the WWE Undisputed Women’s Champion Mia Mancini(w/Maryse) Maryse joined us on commentary, mocking Mickie James, but Mickie managed to score the pin on Michelle with a vicious DDT to win this match. Mancini attempted to take Mickie out but Mickie managed to deck her with the Mick Kick which Maryse yells was an illegal cheapshot and says Mickie had a loaded boot. Regardless, Mickie James will challenge Mia Mancini for the Undisputed Women’s Title tomorrow night. (D)

Ted DiBiase cuts a promo, telling Batista to break a leg in his match with Punk tonight and calls out Matt Hardy for their match, calling Hardy his light work.

World Heavyweight Champion Ted DiBiase pinned Matt Hardy with the Dream Street in a non title match in 9:55 Hardy actually got a few nearfalls and really took the World Heavyweight Champion off balance. DiBiase made a comeback and finished off Hardy with the Dream Street. As of right now, DiBiase will defend his belt against Batista tomorrow night but you better believe he’s hoping for Punk injuring him. (B+)

Rey Mysterio defeated Mike Knox via countout in 8:02 Clips of Knox beating Rey two weeks ago are show prior to this match and Knox seemed to keep Rey off balance with his brutality like he did their previous match but the lights got out and the music of the Undertaker drives Knox from the apron. There is a dark figure at the ramp and Knox goes to yell at it, which causes him to get counted out.(B)

We see Knox choking the figure, which turns out to be another druid and Knox begins beating on him, before giving him the Bicycle Kick right on the ramp. The Undertaker’s voice is over the loud speaker, talking about Knox tried to destroy his face but did not bury him and now Knox is going to regret not burying the Undertaker. More druids wheel out a Casket, with flowers and Knox’s name on it and Knox flips out, trashing the casket angrily, as the Undertaker says that Knox will rest in peace.

Batista pinned CM Punk with the Batista Bomb in 10:44 Punk attacked Batista right at the bell, beating on him, working over his arm. Punk gave Batista a brutal single arm DDT right on the ring steps, before he continues to stop the arm but Batista fought back. Batista hit a spear but is unable to cover Punk. Punk locks on a cross-face, trying to make Batista submit but Batista powers out, causing the referee to be bumped! Out comes Chris Jericho but Batista takes him out with a lariat. Punk has a handful of powder, but he turns around, to get it kicked right on his face. Batista gives Punk a spine buster, before muscling him up for the Batista Bomb for the pin. (B+)

Batista cradles his arm, with a grimace, but he has survived his match with Punk and out comes Ted DiBiase to attack Batista but Batista fights him off. The Fortunate Sons run out and Batista grabs a chair, to fight his way to the back, as Saturday Night’s Main Event is hyped.

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 7/17/10

Recap of past Saturday Night’s Main Event are shown at the top of this two hour with limited commercial breaks programs(one ten minute commercial break at the top of the second hour).

John Morrison and the WWE Intercontinental Champion Christian defeated the Fortunate Sons when Christian pinned Brett DiBiase with the Killswitch in 8:09 An impressive opening match to kick things off. All four men brawled at the start of this match, with Morrison and Christian diving onto their opponents. Morrison got cut off and the Fortunate Sons went straight to work, showing an impressive arsenal of double team moves but Morrison landed on his feet and knocked out Hennig with the Pele Kick, making the tag to Christian who runs wild. Christian misses a Frog Splash and DiBiase nearly pins him with a La Magistral. Hennig is cut off by Morrison as Christian kicks DiBiase in the face, before twisting him into the Killswitch for the pin. As a result, the Fortunate Sons have to leave the building, leaving Batista’s title shot against Ted DiBiase one on one. (B)

WWE Undisputed Women’s Champion Mia Mancini defeated Mickie James via disqualification in 5:03 when Beth Phoenix interfered Mickie’s hot impact offense really caught Mancini off guard for this match but Maryse interfered, allowing Mancini to hit a suplex and go to work on Mickie, with a variety of deadly submission holds. Maryse interfered, which brought out Beth Phoenix. Mickie made a comeback and looked to have Mancini on the ropes, but Maryse leads the Glamazon into the ring, allowing Beth Phoenix to double clothesline Maryse and Mancini, for the disqualification. (C-)

Mickie is none too happy as this is the second month in a row where it appeared she had the Women’s Title won but she didn’t. Mickie attacks Beth Phoenix with ruthless aggression, pummeling her, before Beth Phoenix fights back. We cut to the ramp, where a smug looking Maryse is watching, having cheated the system again.

Jamie Noble defeated Rene Dupree and MVP to win the WWE United States Title when Noble made Dupree submit to a Guillotine Choke in 6:19 A high impact and spirited Triple Threat encounter, with Noble really being the underdog against his two larger opponents but he fought very hard. Ezekiel Jackson was kicked out of this match but Dupree appeared to take out Noble, before hitting MVP with the Bastille Driver but it was broken up by Noble, who pounds away on Dupree and gives him a vicious DDT, before locking on the guillotine choke. Noble rocks back on the neck, trying to force the submission and Dupree has no choice but to tap out, with MVP unable to break the hold in time. Jamie Noble has a huge grin on his face, as he’s struck singles gold in WWE and has become the United States Champion. (B)

Recap of the Best of Seven Series. Afterwards, Drew McIntyre comes out to offer some insight, as he sees who will challenge him for the ECW Championship at Summerslam.

Bryan Danielson made Shelton Benjamin tap out with the Cattle Mutilation in 12:22 A lots of back and forth action, with both men countering their holds, having learned the styles of each other pretty well, over the course of this match. Shelton forearms Danielson right in the face, before hitting a springboard clothesline and beats on him, before hitting a T-Bone Suplex for a nearfall. Stinger Splash is blocked with a kick to the face and rolling elbow smash is countered into a German Suplex for a nearfall. Benjamin puts Danielson on the top rope and goes for a superplex, but Danielson drills a series of elbows, before countering with a super power bomb, for a nearfall. Danielson goes to the outside but he misses a diving headbutt. Shelton drills him with a knee and blocks it, before hitting a Dragon Whip right to the chest and Danielson is sent into the corner. Stinger Splash is avoided to and Danielson grabs Benjamin, before hitting a dragon suplex, before turning, before flipping over into a Cattle Mutilation. Danielson is cranking on the neck of Benjamin, before Benjamin collapses and has no choice but to submit. Bryan Danielson wins the Best of Seven Series and will face Drew McIntyre for the ECW Championship at Summerslam. (B)

A look at the Unified Tag team Title Best Two Out of Three Falls Match is shown.

Evan Bourne and Rey Mysterio retained the Unified Tag Team Titles Two Falls To One when Bourne pinned Jericho with the Air Bourne, after Rey hit a Super Frankensteiner on Jericho on the other end in 15:55 Insane back and forth action to start out, but Rey hit a backslide on Punk in less than two minutes for a flash pin, winning the first fall. Punk attacks Rey from behind, with a series of elbows and Punk and Jericho really spend the next ten minutes picking apart Rey. Rey is struggling and even a false hot tag, but the referee did not see it. Jericho pins Rey with the Code Breaker to win the second fall but Rey kicks out barely out of a second cover. Punk and Jericho are beating Rey in the corner but Rey fights out with a headscissors on Punk and race to the corner. Hot tag to Evan Bourne, where the crowd goes nuclear! Bourne enters the ring, a house of fire. The fans are cheering, with Bourne hitting a tornado faceplant out of the corner for a nearfall with Punk breaking the cover. Rey enters the ring and dropkicks Punk. 6-1-9 brings Punk down, sending him down to the outside and Jericho beats on Bourne, going for the Walls of Jericho, but Bourne counters with a bodyscissors cradle for a nearfall. Bourne kicks Jericho in the face and hits a facebuster, before going to the outside, but Jericho runs to the top rope, hitting an overhead belly to belly suplex off of the top rope for a nearfall but Rey makes the save. Backbreaker and Lionsault no Bourne moves but Jericho lands on his feet and hits over a stepover enzuigiri for a nearfall. Back and forth, with Bourne hitting a spinning forearm smash, knocking Jericho back. Bourne goes for a rana but Jericho counters into a Liontamer version of the Walls of Jericho! He hasn’t used that move in years! Rey breaks it up with a seated senton right to the chest but Punk enters the ring and beats on Rey with elbows. GTS is countered with a spinning headscissors and Jericho is on the top rope, but Rey leaps off and takes Jericho off with a Super Frankensteiner with both men standing on the top rope. Rey dives onto Punk on the floor and Bourne climbs to the top rope, before hitting the Air Bourne for the pin! The fans are cheering as Bourne scores the pin. (B+)

Bourne and Mysterio keep the titles tonight on Saturday Night’s Main Event, in this epic match Two Out of Three Falls Match.

A look at Paul Burchill and Edge in a video package.

Paul Burchill pinned Edge with a high angle vertical suplex into a folding power bomb in 12:55 The fans are cheering, as both men begin to chop each other, with Edge getting the advantage with a series of forearm smashes, to rock his opponent. Edge beats on Burchill but Burchill makes a comeback and tries to go to work on the ankle of Edge but Edge fights that move, and hits a leaping forearm smash. Edge beats on Burchill some more and goes for a Spear but Burchill has that move well counted and German Suplex on Edge gets a nearfall. Curb Stomp is avoided and Burchill beats on Edge, before going for a belly to back suplex but Edge lands on his feet and hits the Edge O Matic for a nearfall. Edge now beats on Burchill but is rammed into the corner, before Burchill clips the ankle out from underneath Edge and goes to work on it finally, applying an ankle lock, but Edge fights out, with an enzuigiri and an Oklahoma Side Roll getting a nearfall. Burchill knees Edge and goes for a power bomb but Edge manages to land on his feet but then walks right into a lariat, due to him doing damage to his ankle. Burchill beats on Edge and to the top rope. Burchill leaps off but Edge spears him. Edge is slow to cover and he only gets a two count. Edge beats on Burchill some more and goes for another spear, but Burchill blocks it with a knee lift, before hoisting up Edge as if he was going to give him a vertical suplex, before bringing him down with a violent power bomb to score the pin. (A)

Burchill gets the win, looking pleased and as promised, he leaves Edge alone.

John Cena makes his way out, for commentary for the World Heavyweight Title Match.

Batista defeated World Heavyweight Champion Ted DiBiase via disqualification when DiBiase shoved and then punched the referee at in 0:35 The match barely started, when DiBiase shoved the referee. The referee warned him not to touch him and DiBiase responded with a huge punch for the disqualification. (B)

Batista explodes into DiBiase with a huge spear. DiBiase might have saved his title but Batista is going to get his pound of flesh. A huge spinebuster rattles DiBiase and with no Fortunate Sons to make the save, Batista manages to brutalize DiBiase with a thunderous Batista Bomb. A second Batista Bomb afterwards, and then a Third Batista Bomb. Batista grabs the World Heavyweight Title Belt and walks off with it. The champion is down in the ring from that thunderous beating, but Batista takes the belt regardless and few people are going to argue with him, even though he’s not the champion.

WWE Champion Randy Orton pinned Kofi Kingston with the Punt in 11:08 Lots of quick moves, as tonight’s main event on Saturday Night’s Main Event happens. Kofi dropkicks Orton to the floor and dives onto him with a slingshot cross body block, before throwing him into the ring. Boom Drop on Orton. Orton fights back, beating on Kofi with punches, kicks, a belly to back suplex, and a leaping kneedrop, before applying a chinlock, before Kofi fights out with a series of elbows. Sleeperhold applied but Kofi runs up the buckles and kicks off, with a bridge for a nearfall. Orton beats on Kofi, going for the RKO but Kofi counters with a backslide for a nearfall. To the second rope and backspring cross body gets a nearfall. Orton is beaten on some more and chops before Kofi backs up and Trouble in Paradise connects but Orton goes to the floor. Bad break and now Kofi rolls to the floor, pulling Orton’s dead weight into the ring, before making a cover for a nearfall. Kofi is on the top rope but Orton pulls down the top rope, causing Kofi to crotch himself and fall into the ring, before Orton wasted Kofi with the punt and scored the pin to retain his WWE Championship. (B)

Orton is still the champion and will go onto defend against Edge for the WWE Championship as part of Summerslam but right now we are out of time. See you on RAW this Monday, as the road to Summerslam kicks of.
