WWE Superstars 8/12/10

A look at tonight’s main event, featuring a six man tag team match, courtesy of Smackdown, with Cryme Tyme and John Morrison taking on the Miz, Lance Cade, and William Regal.

The Hart Dynasty defeated MVP and Mark Henry when Smith pinned MVP after Kidd hit MVP with a kneedrop off the top rope while the referee was distracted in 10:22 The fans are cheering, as this impressive back and forth tag team match on Raw, between two of the top teams in the company occurs. Henry is trapped in the corner and double teamed by the Hart Dynasty but MVP makes a hot tag and is on fire. He takes out Smith and we have a brawl. Playmaker on Smith but we see the referee escorting Mark Henry to the apron, allowing Kidd to drop a cheap kneedrop right to the back of the head. Smith is rolled on top for the pin and the Hart Dynasty steal one. MVP pulls himself to his feet, yelling at the Hart Dynasty before he angrily storms off, as Mark Henry walks off after him. It appears that MVP was frustrated at suffering this loss and he’s not too happy with the Hart Dynasty. (B)

Chavo Guerrero pinned Primo with the Frog Splash in 8:22 Chavo scores an impressive win, as the announcers talk about how Chavo intends to turn around his fortunes as of this match. Primo got several nearfalls, but in the end, Chavo puts him away with the Frog Splash. (C-)

An extensive look at RAW this past Monday, with Orton laying out Edge with the RKO through the table. We understand that the WWE Championship will be on the line inside a steel cage between these two, which we’ve know for quite some time. The match can be won in four ways. Pinfall, Submission, Escaping the Cage Through the Door with Both Feet Touching the Floor, or Escaping the Cage Over the Top with both feet touching the floor. Also, the loser of this match will be ineligible to receive a WWE Championship match for the next six months. A high stakes match, with Orton agreeing to this stipulation, in an attempt to shut Edge out of the title picture for good but he’s risking his rematch clause should he lose the title.

Cryme Tyme and John Morrison defeated the Miz, Lance Cade, and William Regal when Morrison pinned Regal with the Starship Pain in 14:22 Two weeks ago on Superstars, Morrison beat Regal and last week, The Miz scored a victory over JTG. Regal and Cade have had their problems with Cryme Tyme in the past and the Miz and Morrison’s history is well documented. Tonight, all six men collide in an epic six man tag team match. JTG took the brunt of the beating but Morrison runs in, with the former World Heavyweight Champion cleaning house. Cryme Tyme takes Miz out and then Cade, leaving Morrison and Regal along, where Morrison hits a leg lariat out of the corner, before finishing Regal off with the Starship Pain. (C+)

Just got online and read about the passing of Lance Cade. Really sucks, another guy in the prime of his life shot down by what sadly appears to be drugs, although nothing that is really confirmed. Still 29 years old...wow, just wow. My policy given this is a real time game is to set wrestlers to deceased in the game should they die in real life. Did so with Umaga when he died and did so with Cade.

On the brighter side of things, Summerslam is coming together nicely. If this was the last card, I would have been pleased with it, but since I'm continuing, it will be a nice card to really wrap up some storylines that have been slow burning since Mania and set up the road to Survivor Series. Still while I think Mania 26 is the best card I've done in this diary, I think that Summerslam is a close second, but I'll let you judge when you see it.

Now on with the show.

WWE Smackdown 8/13/10

We open up the show with the following blurb.

The WWE Universe extends their

condolences to the friends and family of WWE Smackdown Superstar....

Lance Cade(1981-2010)

Ted DiBiase makes his way out, declaring that in forty eight hours at Summerslam he’ll be walking out with the World Heavyweight Championship just like he has previously, talking about how he has this one in the bag. Out comes Smackdown General Manager Bret Hart, who informs DiBiase, that the Fortunate Sons will leave the building. DiBiase looks a bit put off but recovers, talking about how he’s still going to keep the belt. Out comes Batista, leading to a brawl, with Batista getting the better of DiBiase, until Joe Hennig and Brett DiBiase bail him out. DiBiase won’t get that this Sunday, with the Fortunate Sons banned from ringside as he defends the World Heavyweight Championship against both John Cena and Batista in a Triple Threat Match.

Booker T pinned Dolph Ziggler with the Harlem Side Kick in a No Disqualification Match in 9:22 Recap from the meeting between these two men last week, where Ziggler used a chair to get disqualified against Booker T. Tonight, Booker and Ziggler have a back and forth match. This time when Ziggler uses the chair(perfectly legal), Booker T ducks and hits him with the Harlem Side Kick for the pin. (B)

Knox cuts a promo, promising to mangle and disembowel the Undertaker, before putting him in the casket this Sunday.

Jack Swagger pinned Matt Hardy with the Gutwrench Power Bomb in 8:08 Christian was on commentary, as he will face Swagger for the Intercontinental Title at Summerslam. Swagger gets several nearfalls on Hardy before Hardy stages a comeback and nearly puts Swagger away, but Swagger avoids an elbow drop from the second rope and hits the Gutwrench Power Bomb for the pin. Swagger glares at Christian, indicating that he’s going to be the new champion. (B-)

Evan Bourne defeated Joe Hennig via disqualification in 9:02 when Brett DiBiase interfered, shoving Bourne off the top rope. Bourne and Hennig had an impressive back and forth match, with Bourne slowly gaining the advantage but Brett DiBiase interfered as Bourne went for the Air Bourne. Double team by the Fortunate Sons, until Rey Mysterio makes the save. Hype for their match at Summerslam for the Unified Tag Team Titles. (B-)

Mike Knox defeated Kane in a Casket Match in 14:22 A preview for this Sunday, with Knox and Kane brawling throughout this match. Kane clotheslines Knox into the casket but Knox escapes. Knox grabs a toolbox underneath the ring and waffles Kane with a wrench, the same object that he used to take out the Undertaker. DDT on the casket and Knox bicycle kicks a chair right into Kane’s face as he is laying on the canvas. Knox beats on Kane, before suplexing him off the apron into the casket and shutting the lid for the win. (B-)

Knox looks pleased, having proven that he can win a Casket Match. The Undertaker’s voice taunts Knox, promising an eternity of agony for him at Summerslam. Taker and Knox in a Casket Match at Summerslam.

Out comes CM Punk and Chris Jericho, who talk about how this Sunday, they will end DX. Out comes Triple H once again, who talks about how he was stalled from showing the footage, but before he could show the footage, out comes security, who escorts Triple H from the building, with Punk stating that since Triple H is not a Smackdown contracted wrestler, so he is trespassing. Punk talks about how he runs things now, whether Triple H likes it or not.

Rey Mysterio pinned John Cena with a springboard splash in 15:22 The first ever battle between Cena and Rey was a nice back and forth match. Things get a bit heated and Cena roughs up Rey, but Rey counters the Attitude Adjustment into a rana for a close nearfall. Rey is beaten up some more and Cena goes for the STF, but Rey turns, kicking Cena into the ropes and 6-1-9 nails Cena, before Rey hits a breath taking springboard splash for the pin! Rey has scored a huge win tonight over one of the championship contenders. (B)

WWE Summerslam 2010

A look at the events leading up to the huge steel cage main even for the WWE Championship between Edge and Randy Orton where the loser of this match cannot challenge for the WWE Championship for six months.

Unified Tag Team Title Match:

The Fortunate Sons vs. Rey Mysterio and Evan Bourne©

The Fortunate Sons attack at the bell but Rey and Bourne fight back, hitting stereo dropkicks right to the floor and then planchas onto both men. Bourne is in the ring with Brett DiBiase, throwing him into the corner and hitting a leaping kneelift right into the corner. Bourne sets up DiBiase and headlock, dropkicking off of Joe Hennig, before bringing him down with a bulldog. Tag made to Rey and Bourne holds DiBiase, so Rey can punch him. Into the ropes, reversed, but Rey counters a tilt a whirl into an armdrag and pops up with a spinning leg lariat for the count of two. Rey beats on DiBiase some more and rams him into the corner. Tag made to Bourne and Rey whips Bourne in, so Bourne can monkey flip DiBiase from the corner. Bourne is beating on DiBiase but Hennig hits him with a kneelift to the back, allowing DiBiase to clothesline him down.

Tag made to Joe Hennig and the Fortunate Sons are taking advantage of that five count, beating on Bourne. Double front suplex on the top rope, knocking the wind out of Bourne. Hennig beats on the chest of Bourne with chops and into the ropes. Drop toe hold and Hennig drops a series of elbows, before hitting a leaping kneedrop to the back of the head. Hennig picks up Bourne and hammers him with forearms to the side. Gutwrench by Hennig but Bourne slips out from underneath. Hennig with a back elbow and tag to DiBiase. Spinebuster by Hennig and DiBiase comes off the ropes with a kneedrop. Cover but only a two count. Brett DiBiase hammers away on Bourne some more and sets him up, making the tag. Combination Power Bomb/Diving Inverted Bulldog puts Bourne down! An impressive power move but Rey breaks up the cover. They continue to hammer away on Bourne in the corner and tag made to Brett DiBiase. Into the ropes and sleeperhold is applied. Two and a half arm drops, before Bourne fights out with a sitting jawbreaker! Bourne is going to go for the cover but Hennig distracts the referee. Tag made and Rey runs wild but the referee cannot allow the tag, due to him not seeing it. The Fortunate Sons beat on Bourne in the corner, hitting a double suplex on him, before Hennig chokes Bourne out with the tag rope and DiBiase pummels him.

DiBiase has Bourne set up and gutbuster, before he tags Hennig, who delivers a double axe handle down across the back. Hennig picks up Bourne and delivers that vicious standing axe handle, called the Axe, shades after his grandfather, the legendary Larry “The Ax” Hennig. The third generation star makes the cover but only gets a two count. Joe Hennig beats on Bourne and tag made to DiBiase. DiBiase leaps off the second rope but double axe handle accidentally hits Hennig and Bourne now hits a huge dropkick to DiBiase, before making the hot tag to Rey. Rey springboards into the ring, taking both men out with a double clothesline. He pounds away at Hennig, taking him to the outside. DiBiase is bulldogged down and now Rey steps to the outside. Shoulder and neck snap, before Rey leaps in and springboard legdrop to the back of the head. Rey covers but only a two count. Forearms to the back of the head of DiBiase and Irish whip but DiBiase makes the blind tag off of the ropes. Rey drop toe holds DiBiase in position for the 6-1-9 and connects but Hennig is the legal man and he knees Rey, before connecting with the Perfect Plex. Two and nine tenths when Bourne makes the save!

We see Bourne escorted to the corner, as Hennig beats on Rey. DiBiase joins and double suplex but Rey drops down and dropkicks both men from behind. Hennig falls on the middle rope, as DiBiase goes to the outside. 6-1-9 on Hennig and Bourne just dives right through the ropes, with an insane tope suicida onto DiBiase! Rey is to the outside and springboard splash connects, pinning Hennig and keeping the Unified Tag Team Titles.

Winners: Rey Mysterio and Evan Bourne(14:42, B+)

Bourne and Mysterio keep the Unified Tag Team Titles but for a tag team that has been on Smackdown only for a couple of months, the Fortunate Sons gave them a run for their moment.

United States Title Bunkhouse Match:

Sheamus vs. Jamie Noble©

Sheamus attacks Noble at the bell and clotheslines him over the top rope to the floor. He beats on Noble and attempts to Irish whip him into the ring steps, but Noble reverses and Sheamus hits the steps hard. Noble dropkicks Sheamus into the steps and beats on him, before removing his belt and whipping Sheamus with it, to cheers from the crowd. Noble applies a standing bodyscissors guillotine choke on Sheamus, while pounding on him but Sheamus counters with a sick belly to belly suplex into the ringpost! Noble’s spine just cracks against the ringpost and now Sheamus beats on Noble, before draping Noble over his shoulders and dropping him chest first onto the barricade. Sheamus beats on Noble and grabs a steel chair. No disqualification and Sheamus just smashes the chair right over the previously broken back of Noble. Sheamus rolls Noble into the ring and huge clothesline. Cover but Noble kicks out. Sheamus beats on Noble and big boots him down. Sheamus yells for Noble not to kick out but Noble refuses to give up, kicking out again. Sheamus picks up Noble and gives him a violent power bomb into the corner and another cover but once again, Noble just manages to kick out.

Sheamus beats on Noble, before going to the outside and pulling a table from underneath the ring. Sheamus beats on Noble and applies a facelock, before talking about how Noble can give up now and save himself a paralyzing injury but Noble counters with a low blow and he removes his cowboy boot, before he wallops Sheamus in the head with it! The fans cheer as Sheamus staggers, with Noble taking Sheamus down by the arm and applying a cross-face submission hold! Noble is trying to tap Sheamus out but Sheamus fights out. Noble dropkicks Sheamus in the knee and pulls him over. Figure Four Leglock right around the ringpost! Sheamus is struggling but he manages to reach into his tights for something and he pounds away at the ankle of Noble with it. Noble breaks the hold and now Sheamus drops down, booting Noble right into the ringpost! Sheamus pulls back the ring mats, exposing the concrete. This is how this started in the first place but Noble is down, clutching his mouth from where he got kicked and Sheamus has Noble set him. Power bomb attempt but Noble spits green mist right into the eyes of Sheamus! The fans pop as Sheamus is blinded and Noble grabs the same foreign object that Sheamus used on his knee and beats Sheamus with it. Noble had a trick or two up his sleeve and now he sets up the table right by the ring apron. Noble is in the ring and Slingshot Sunset Flip into a power bomb plants Sheamus right through the table! The broken, battered, and lifeless form of Sheamus is rolled into the ring and Noble scores a pin to keep the United States Title.

Winner and Still United States Champion: Jamie Noble(8:57, B-)

Jamie Noble keeps the United States Title, scoring a decisive win over the man who put him on the shelf.

We are backstage, with Josh Mathews getting a quick word with Ted DiBiase about the Fortunate Sons falling short in winning the Unified Tag Team Titles. DiBiase states that its not something that he really is bothered by, because Joe Hennig and Brett DiBiase gave Bourne and Mysterio the closest defense of their life and the next time they are in the ring, the Fortunate Sons will be the Unified Tag Team Champions. Mathews then talks about how Ted DiBiase will be all alone as he defends the World Heavyweight Title in a Triple Threat Match. DiBiase says once again, he’s being written off but he will keep the title tonight just like he did time and time again. He has a plan.

WWE Intercontinental Title Match:

Jack Swagger vs. Christian©

Swagger has not been on Pay Per View for quite some time and he’s looking to make the most of this opportunity against Christian, taking him down and rolling him up for a two count right at the bell. Swagger beats on Christian with knees but he ducks the head, allowing Christian to gain the advantage with a kneelift and a twisting European Uppercut. Christian beats on Swagger and snap mares him, before dropping a pair of knees across the chest. Christian springboards into the ring but Swagger cuts him off with a kneelift. Swagger beats on Christian and double leg takedown, right into an attempted ankle lock but Christian pops up with an enzugiri, and Oklahoma Side Roll for a two count. Christian beats on Swagger and into the corner. Leaping clothesline and Christian hits a springboard clothesline for a two count. Christian picks up Swagger and goes for the Killswitch but Swagger twists out and rolls the arena floor. Christian slides outside and beats on Swagger but Swagger reverses a whip into the barricade and German Suplex right on the floor. That staggers Christian and Swagger is in the ring, breaking the count, before going back out, to get Christian. Swagger wrestles Christian to the mat, pounding him with elbows to the back of the head, before pulling him. Waistlock takedown, right into a rear naked choke. Christian elbows out but Swagger is up and kneelift, right into a Northern Lights Suplex gets a nearfall!

Swagger picks Christian up and kneelift, right into a fireman’s carry and Swagger pounds Christian with knees to the side of the head. To the second rope and pump splash gets a two count on Christian. Swagger continues to hammer away at Christian and into the ropes and tilt a whirl suplex gets another nearfall. Swagger beats on Christian and off the ropes. Clothesline is ducked and Christian leaps to the second rope, and back elbow smash right to the face of Swagger for a two count. Christian beats on Swagger, before setting him up. Swinging bulldog out of the corner gets a nearfall. Swagger is beaten on some more and Christian with ten count punches from the corner, before he hits a forearm smash to Swagger. Kneelift sets up the Killswitch no Swagger fights out. Christian to the second rope and Asai Moonsault but Swagger catches Christian and delivers a swinging powerslam into a spinebuster, spiking Christian down to the canvas. This could be the momentum changer but Swagger only gets a nearfall. Swagger beats on Christian and Gutwrench Power Bomb but Christian reverses and applies the Killswitch to score the pin and keep the WWE Intercontinental Title.

Winner: Christian(10:01, B)

Christian scores an impressive win tonight to keep the WWE Intercontinental Title firmly in his camp. You’ve got to hang it to Christian, he really kept the title tonight but our hats do go off to Swagger, who took the champion to the limit.

We cut to the druids walking out the Casket for the next match, between the Undertaker and Mike Knox at Summerslam. Back at Fatal Four Way, Knox caved in the Undertaker’s face and the Undertaker has not been seen in public since. Knox comes out, bullying the druids and the lights go out, and when they come back on, the Undertaker is standing in the ring, hood over his face and he beats Knox up. Knox is taken down with a huge choke slam and Knox rolls to the outside, to try and recover, as the Undertaker, still with the hood of his robe up, continues to pummel away at Knox. The casket is opened but Knox goes low on the Undertaker and hits a Bicycle Kick, to send him right into the Casket! Knox closes the casket in triumph and the bell rings…to start the match. The Undertaker is let out of the casket and the bell rings.

Casket Match:

Mike Knox vs. the Undertaker

Punches are traded, with Knox getting the advantage, until he grabs a steel chair but the Undertaker kicks it right in his face and applies the Hell’s Gate, with the hood still on! Knox is being punished in the Hell’s Gate and he passes out, allowing the Undertaker to scoop up Knox and roll him into the casket for the victory.

Winner: The Undertaker(1:52, D+)

The Undertaker celebrates his victory, but the casket is opened, with Knox getting out and he shoves the referees to the side and attacks the Undertaker. The Undertaker fights back and Knox drills the Undertaker right in the face with the Bicycle Kick to knock him out and Knox leaves the Undertaker laying in the ring but the Undertaker sits up. Knox goes to return to the ring but when the lights come back on the Undertaker is gone and he begins to talk about how tonight was not Knox’s final resting place, but rather the beginning of the end. The lighting bolt strikes the casket, as the announcers talk about this strange encounter.

WWE Undisputed Women’s Title Match:

Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix vs. Mia Mancini©

Maryse is on commentary, as Mancini hangs back, with Mickie James and Beth Phoenix brawling but they stop and turn around and paste Mancini, wiping her out with a double clothesline and then a double vertical suplex. Mickie quickly rolls up Phoenix for a two count and a series of jabs, before Mickie leapfrogs over the Glamazon. Turn around and Beth Phoenix plants a boot right into the ribs of Mickie James, before taking her down with a short arm clothesline. Beth Phoenix picks up Mickie James and muscles her up, before hitting a Gorilla Press Slam. Beth Phoenix is up and swift double underhook suplex for a two count. Mancini is out and Beth Phoenix attacks her, before hitting a tilt a whirl powerslam for the count of two. Headbutt right by the Glamazon and now Phoenix throws Mancini into the corner. Boot into the chin and Mancini to the second rope but Beth Phoenix catches her attempted dropkick and catapult over the top rope. Mancini lands with a thud on the floor and Mickie James is back up but not for long, as Beth Phoenix attacks her, before bringing her down with a violent shoulderbreaker. Cover and only a two count and Beth Phoenix applies a cross-armbreaker to Mickie James but she’s in the ropes.

Beth Phoenix pounds on Mickie James and into the ropes. Tilt a whirl is countered into an armdrag and now Mickie James with rapid fire kicks to the ribs, before she hits a running dropkick. The fans cheer as Mickie James pulls out a huge leaping elbow drop and covers Beth Phoenix for a two count. A lot of fire and determination as Mickie James dropkicks the Glamazon into the corner and ten count elbow strikes in the corner. Mickie James drops down and running kick into the corner, before she climbs to the outside. High cross body no caught and fallway slam brings Mickie James down. Beth Phoenix has Mickie set up and power bomb, no countered with a spiked DDT. Two count and now Mickie James to the outside. Beth Phoenix is taken down with a missile dropkick and another nearfall. Mickie James beats on Beth Phoenix and Mick Kick, no ducked and Beth Phoenix applies a double chickenwing submission hold on Mickie James and drives her down with the Glam Slam. Maryse is on the apron and Beth Phoenix goes after her, but this allows Mancini to roll up Beth Phoenix, using the ropes for leverage from behind and score the pin!

Winner and Still Unified Women’s Champion: Mia Mancini(8:02, C-)

Beth Phoenix goes after the champion and beats her down, before laying her out with the Glam Slam. Maryse eats the Glam Slam as well. If it was not for Maryse, Beth Phoenix might have walked out of Summerslam with the Unified Women’s Title.

A look at Bryan Danielson’s rise to the top of ECW, leading to his ECW Championship shot tonight against Drew McIntyre.

We see Vladimir Koslov sitting at ringside, dressed in a suit with a stoic expression on his face, arms crossed, as he awaits this match, like we all are.

ECW Championship Match:

Bryan Danielson vs. Drew McIntyre©

Danielson enters the ring, with an arm band with the initials, “L.C” on it. McIntyre was the man who was groomed for greatness, while Danielson has clawed his way to the top and achieved greatness. This win will cement him as the top star on ECW and both men lock up, with Danielson rolling up McIntyre in a small package for a two and nine tenths count at the bell. Danielson appears to have terrified the champion, given the fact that Danielson can pull out those lighting quick pins at a drop of a hat. Danielson and McIntyre exchange chops with Danielson getting the better of the exchange. Leap frog and drop toe hold to McIntyre, before Danielson floats over and elbows away at the back of the head of McIntyre. McIntyre is in the ropes and he’s got to watch those elbow strikes. Danielson beats on McIntyre with some punches and forearms to the chest, before he throws him into the ropes. Leaping kneelift brings down McIntyre and Danielson beats on McIntyre, before pulling him up. Into the ropes but the head is ducked. McIntyre waffles Daniels right in the face with the toe of his boot and McIntyre takes down Danielson down with a huge lariat. Cover on Danielson but he kicks out. McIntyre beats on Danielson and throws him to the ringside area.

McIntyre beats on Danielson and slams him into the ringpost, getting a stern warning from the referee. McIntyre continues the beating, choking Danielson, not caring, because disqualification means he keeps the title. McIntyre throws Danielson into the ring and belly to back suplex brings Danielson down to the canvas. Two count. McIntyre beats on Danielson and applies a Boston Crab to Danielson. Danielson is in the ropes and McIntyre refuses to break the hold. Five count and the referee has to pull off McIntyre. McIntyre gets in the referee’s face and Danielson has a waistlock roll up on McIntyre for a nearfall! The fans are really cheering and Danielson beats on McIntyre with elbows to the side of the head, before going for a rolling elbow smash but McIntyre ducks it and clotheslines Danielson across the back of the head, before setting him up. Stun Gun brings Danielson down neck first across the top rope and now McIntyre with a gut shot, before he puts Danielson on the top rope! McIntyre is up but Danielson hangs onto the top rope, blocking the attempted superplex! Danielson shoves McIntyre off the top rope and leaps off, with a spinning elbow right to the head! McIntyre goes down and Danielson covers but McIntyre manages to get the foot over the rope.

Perhaps instinct, as McIntyre could have very well been rendered unconscious and now Danielson with more lightning fast elbow strikes but McIntyre with a low blow. Another warning but the referee is ignored, with McIntyre pulling out a brain buster! Danielson’s brains might have been scrambled and now McIntyre with the cover but only a two and nine tenths count. Powerslam by McIntyre but Danielson gets the shoulder up once again. McIntyre hits a Jackhammer on Danielson but once again, Danielson narrowly escapes a pin! McIntyre, running out of ideas, just stomps Danielson and another cover. Two and nine tenths count! McIntyre storms to the outside and grabs the ECW Championship Belt and is going to paste Danielson with it, but the referee takes the belt away. McIntyre grabs the referee and shoves him down. The referee goes down and Danielson low blows McIntyre and waffles him with a violent rolling elbow smash! McIntyre was cracked right in the head and Danielson covers, as the referee makes the count and scores the pin to a loud pop from the fans!

Winner and New ECW Champion: Bryan Danielson(14:39, B)

Danielson gets the win and is the new ECW Champion. McIntyre has been knocked completely cold by that rolling elbow smash and you can’t really get more decisive than that. We see Koslov and Danielson make eye contact and Koslov eyeballs the ECW Championship belt. Koslov has been known to utilize violent elbow smashes in the past, so it will be a battle of the elbow strikes.

Winner and Still World Heavyweight Champion: Ted DiBiase(18:44, A)

Cena is confused, that show of strength took a lot out of him but once he dumped both DiBiase and Batista, DiBiase landed right onto Batista in a pinning predicament. DiBiase is still the World Heavyweight Champion by hook or crook and many would obviously point to crook being the more likely of the two. DiBiase is unconscious from getting that Attitude Adjustment. Cena has frustration on his face, that Double Attitude Adjustment on two men is what won him the World Heavyweight Title at Wrestlemania 25 against the Big Show and Edge but tonight, it worked against him, given the intensity of this match. We see the Fortunate Sons carry the World Heavyweight Champion to the back, unconscious, like he is a conquering hero.

An impressive show of agility on the part of Michaels. Michaels is crawling to the corner but we see Punk reenter the ring and knock Triple H off the apron. Triple H goes right after Punk and that causes him to be out of position for the tag for Michaels, as Jericho hits a stepover enzuigiri right to the back of the head. Michaels is down and Jericho covers Michaels for another close nearfall. Michaels is yanked to a vertical base and Jericho drills him with forearms, before throwing him into the ropes. The fans are going nuts, as Michaels tries to fight back but he collapses to the canvas, as Jericho is really sitting back on the spine of Michaels! The fans are going absolutely insane as the arm drops two and a half times, before Triple H makes the save! Triple H is once again brought to the corner, and this allows Punk and Jericho to double team Michaels behind the referee’s back! The fans are going absolutely. The referee turns around and Jericho has Michaels set up and brings him down with the Code Breaker! The fans boo and Jericho makes another cover on the completely lifeless body of Michaels. Two and nine tenths count, before Triple H breaks up the pin once again!

Triple H is forced back into the corner, as Michaels continues to get pummeled some more. Michaels is making a comeback on both men and Jericho is backed off. Michaels hits Jericho with the Superkick! The fans explode into loud pops but Michaels has nothing left in the gas tank to cover! Jericho might have been out for a thirty count but Michaels can’t over. Triple H bangs on the turnbuckle padding, leading on a chant for HBK and Michaels is out of it. Jericho is starting to stir, but he looks dazed. Punk steps into the ring slightly, which causes Triple H to run into the ring and dive for him. The referee has to escort Triple H into the corner and Punk enters the ring, pulling Jericho to the corner where he is almost there. The referee turns around as Punk slaps the half conscious hand of Jericho. Punk sets up Michaels onto the shoulders and GTS connects! Michaels has been deflated! Punk nails Triple H with a forearm right across the bridge of the nose before he makes the cover on Michaels to score the pin!

The save beating of Shawn Michaels tonight at Summerslam ends with the GTS by Punk to score the pin and now Jericho is back in, with Punk and they continue to get in some shots on Michaels, before Punk knocks Triple H off the ring apron once again! It should be noted that Triple H did make the tag earlier in this match but thanks the tactics of Jericho and Punk, the referee did not see it. Triple H gets prevented from entering the ring a two more times, before he grabs the sledgehammer, which is the great equalizer, from underneath the ring and Jericho and Punk bolt. In the record books, CM Punk and Chris Jericho beat DeGeneration X tonight at Summerslam and Shawn Michaels suffered a horrific beating for almost fifteen minutes to get to that point.

WWE Monday Night RAW 8/16/10

Stills are shown from Summerslam, spotlighted by Edge winning the WWE Championship from Randy Orton and shutting Orton out of the title picture for a period of six months on RAW.

We see footage from one month ago on Smackdown, grainy but still visible of Vince McMahon backstage, when Chris Jericho attacks him from behind, beating on him, before throwing him right into the room. Jericho walks over and pulls several empty alcohol containers out of the bag, before placing them around Vince McMahon and then giving him a kick to the face, before opening a full container, pouring some of the contents in his mouth, and placing it in his hand.

We cut the ringside area, where Triple H is standing at the announcer’s desk. He mentions that Shawn Michaels will be out for the next few weeks due to injuries he suffered but as we could see, Punk had Jericho set Vince McMahon up. Out comes an irate Punk, who talks about how Triple H never should have even shown that footage, he warned Triple H that there will be consequences and he brings out the Hart Dynasty. Tonight, Triple H will have to take on the Hart Dynasty in a Handicap I Quit Match and also if Triple H uses the sledgehammer, there will be consequences.

Triple H defeated the Hart Dynasty in a Handicap I Quit Match when Triple H threatened to hit Natalya with the sledgehammer and Tyson Kidd submitted on behalf of his team in 10:22 The Hart Dynasty batter Triple H, with Natalya interfering. Triple H fights back and applies a cross-face submission hold to David Hart Smith but Natalya breaks it up. Triple H takes out Natalya with the spinebuster and throws her to the floor. Triple H pulls out the sledgehammer to huge cheers from the fans and he throws Natalya into the ring, standing on her hands, with the sledgehammer raised up above her neck. Tyson Kidd yells that he quits. (B)

Triple H lets Natalya go and takes out Kidd with the sledgehammer. A sledgehammer shot to Smith and security comes out, to mace Triple H and disarm him of the sledgehammer. Punk is out, the leader of the WWE Universe warning Triple H of what would happen and now as a result, Triple H is suspended indefinitely. The fans explode into boos at that and Triple H yells at Punk, as he gets escorted from the building.

Randy Orton pinned Santino Marella with the RKO in 0:15 Santino went for Orton but Orton ducked and planted him with the RKO for the pin. Now Orton is down back at the bottom of the ladder and has six months before he can get a WWE Championship Match. He scored his first win tonight against Santino. (C+)

Beth Phoenix comes out, calling out Mia Mancini for a match, after the events of Summerslam and CM Punk comes out, to make the match official, but also adds Maryse, Jillian, and Alicia Fox to the match to make a four on one handicap match and if Beth Phoenix wants a Undisputed Women’s Title Shot anytime soon, she has to defeat all four of her opponents tonight.

Maryse, Alicia Fox, Jillian, and the WWE Undisputed Women’s Champion Mia Mancini defeated Beth Phoenix when Mancini pinned Beth Phoenix after an Alicia Fox axe kick in 3:44 Beth Phoenix fought against all four of her opponents but this was a mismatch, as even a woman like the Glamazon would have trouble taking down four opponents. In the end, Alicia Fox hits an axe kick on Phoenix, which allows Mancini to score a handy pin. (C-)

Out comes CM Punk for another time tonight and he has another problem that he wants to fix for the RAW roster. The United States Title holder is Jamie Noble, a man who proudly talks about how he “eats biscuits, drinks beer, and watches NASCAR.” While Punk has no problems with two of those things, he has a serious problem with the drinking beer thing. Punk says last night, Noble beat Sheamus and now Punk is going to name a new number one contender for the United States Title and who better to be a role model to the youth of American, than the choice of a new generation, CM Punk. Out comes Jamie Noble, who says that he beat Sheamus and has no problem laying a whooping on Punk tonight. Punk says that Noble should have a tune up match tonight and it’s against Zack Ryder.

Jamie Noble pinned Zack Ryder with a roll up in a non title tune up match in 5:55 We see Ryder get into an argument with a member of the ring crew, pushing him around and just showing all sorts of disrespect to him After all, if it wasn’t for the ring crew, there would not be WWE, due to the fact that no one could set up the ring. Ryder and Noble have a back and forth match, with Ryder gaining the advantage for most of this match. Ryder taunted the member of the ring crew that he did earlier and as a result, he gets rolled up for the pin. (B+)

After the match, CM Punk waffles Noble from behind and takes him out with a huge lariat. Punk beats on Noble with elbows and says that his United States Title Match will happen right now.

CM Punk pinned Jamie Noble with the GTS in 0:22 to win the WWE United States Title Noble is pulled into the GTS and pinned rather handily and Punk wins his first United States Title. (C-)

Punk exits the ring before getting on the microphone and adds that since Noble wants to promote the drinking of alcohol, he’ll have to pay the price. Noble is suspended for the next thirty days. The fans boo, as Punk leaves. The announcers state that Punk might not have ever drank a drop of alcohol in his life, but he’s certainly drunk with power tonight.

A limo pulls up at the backstage area and two men dressed in suits with briefcases exit. As the announcers wonder what this is about, we fade out.

We are back, and the two men are in the arena. They introduce themselves as representatives of the WWE Board of Directors, who received the same tape that Triple H showed earlier and wish to call CM Punk out. Punk comes out, with the WWE United States Championship belt draped over his shoulder and a smug expression on his face. One of them does the talking, stating that the contract made by Vince McMahon and CM Punk is being heavily investigated over the next few weeks and whether or not Vince McMahon broke it. Therefore, CM Punk’s control over WWE will be suspended until a verdict is reached. Punk just steps back, before saying that any court in the land will conclude that he is a better person to run this company than Vince McMahon. Punk also adds that he filed the necessary paperwork for tonight, so any decisions stand and Triple H will not be reinstated, due to the fact that Punk is the only one that can lift his suspension and since Punk does not have any power, he can’t lift it, even if he wanted to. The representative adds that Punk will put that United States Title on the line at Night of the Champions against the winner of a number one contenders match between Mark Henry and the Big Show later tonight. They also talk about how there will finally be a RAW General Manager after all of these months coming soon. The Board of Directors is looking into several candidates. The Board wants someone with the intensity to stand up to the RAW roster, the intelligence not to be tricked by them, and the integrity that a RAW General Manager should have. With that big news, we walk off but the fans are livid that Triple H appears to be benched for the foreseeable future.

Cody Rhodes defeated Unified Tag Team Champion Rey Mysterio, when Randy Orton slammed Rey into the ringpost in 11:22 Last week, Cody Rhodes beat one half of the Unified Tag Team Champions in Evan Bourne and he beat the other half in Rey Mysterio tonight. Rhodes and Mysterio had an impressive match, with Rey winning, until Randy Orton interjected himself, helping Rhodes win the match, by bouncing Rey’s head off of the ringpost. Rey is rolled underneath the bottom rope and Rhodes makes the cover to score the pin. (B)

Afterwards, Rhodes and Orton beat on Rey, but Evan Bourne runs out. Bourne is taken out and beaten down as well, given the RKO from Orton. Legacy stands tall in the ring over the Unified Tag Team Champions.

The Big Show pinned Mark Henry with the Knockout Punch to become the number one contender for the United States Title in 8:44 Henry and Big Show had an intense power match, with lots of back and forth moves. Henry manages to bodyslam the Big Show and splash him but the Big Show powers out. To the top rope but the Big Show punches Henry in the chest, before nailing him with a second punch, knocking his lights out for the pin. The Big Show will face CM Punk for the United States Title at Night of Champions. (C+)

We are back, with Edge out to the ring, the first we’ve seen of the new WWE Champion all night. Edge talks about its been a long road back to the title, but he’s got it and he’s not letting it go. He says that his first big title defense is against Paul Burchill at Night of Champions and it should be a big one. Out comes Paul Burchill from the back, who congratulates Edge on his win and as promised, he kept out of Edge’s business at Summerslam and as a result, he gets a WWE Championship Match. Burchill says he’s looking forward to having an impressive, back and forth match between two great athletes and Edge nods, a bit confused about the humble attitude of Paul Burchill. Edge turns to play to the crowd and Burchill pulls a metal object from out of his coat, before he waffles Edge with it. Burchill continues to beat on Edge, and drills him with a vicious brain buster and then a violent neckbreaker. Burchill yells at Edge, saying that he’s going to be the champion and be pounds away at Edge, before spitting on his prone form and walking out. The WWE Champion has been laid out tonight on RAW.
