ECW On Sy Fy 8/17/10

Drew McIntyre cuts a promo, talking about how Danielson used a low blow to cheat him out of the ECW Championship, ignoring the seven or eight rule violations that McIntyre did before. McIntyre says that Danielson’s reign will be short lived as he’s getting his return match tonight and McIntyre will become a two time ECW Champion. He promises that Danielson will be a statistic right up there with Tommy Rich, Stan Stasiak, and Ivan Koloff in flash in the pan champions.

Kaval pinned Slam Master J with the double foot stomp in 7:22 An impressive match, with Slam Master J very narrowly getting the win with a dive but Kaval kicks out. He makes the comeback, kneeing Slam Master’s head in and drilling him with a leg lariat, before just foot stomping his face for the decisive pin. ©

A promo with a pair of young man dressed in black tracksuits and headbands, who introduce themselves as Lawerence Davis and Michael Courtier, the Specialists. They talk about how tag team wrestling has been disgraced by people who think that they can just throw any two wrestlers together and make something happen. Davis talks about he and Courtier have been bread to be tag team partners and for success. They vow to become the Unified Tag Team Champions and promise to take care of all of the poser tag teams in WWE.

The Specialists defeated Goldust and Justin Gabriel when Davis pinned Gabriel with a Northern Lights Suplex in 8:55 Josh Mathews comments about how the Specialists are hungry, almost like a pair of wolves on commentary. Sure enough, Courtier and Davis, brought in on the ECW’s new talent policy, are impressive in dissecting Goldust in the corner, with lots of old school tag team tactics, many of them have been lost in time. Eventually Gabriel is tagged in and promptly cut off and double teamed, leading to a lariat to the back of the head, into a Northern Lights Suplex for the pin. A commanding performance by the Specialists tonight. A potential match with the World’s Greatest Tag Team is talked about. (C-)

A vignette is shown, featuring a figure in all shadow, with a distorted voice. He talks about how he did not play along with the system and how he was booted from WWE for not playing their game. They also feared him, because he was too good and now the fans of ECW will soon know that the future is upon them and the revolution cannot be stopped. We cut out on this ominous note.

Vladimir Koslov k’oed Jimmy Wang Yang in 0:30 Yang tried a dropkick but Koslov caught him and catapulted Yang into the buckles, before he elbowed him right in the back of the head. Another elbow from the mount and Yang is k’oed. The match is stopped, awarding the match to Koslov. (D)

ECW Champion Bryan Danielson made Drew McIntyre submit to the Cattle Mutilation in 14:44 A tremendous back and forth match, with both men giving it their all. McIntyre, having cashed in on his guaranteed return match was determined. Double Underhook DDT is reversed into a double underhook suplex and elbows to the head, before Danielson applies the Cattle Mutilation and McIntyre has no choice but to tap. (B)

Just as Danielson is up, Vladimir Koslov jumps him from behind. Koslov plants Danielson with a violent spinebuster and then elbows him in the head! That elbow just knocked Danielson out and now Koslov grabs the ECW Championship, folding it over his head, before hoisting it over his head. A sign for things to come in the future? Koslov has just k’oed the ECW Champion like he was some bum off of the street. The Russian is dangerous!

News time.

WWE management was said to be rather irate with Jamie Noble, who failed a wellness test, after being brought back with a push and a run with the United States Title. Noble was suspended for thirty days and was said to storm off, thus perhaps digging him deeper. Many in management state that this was the wrong week for Jamie Noble to fail a wellness test and while he's not been released yet, he's likely to be buried on Superstars, if he makes television at all, when his suspension runs out. WWE is really taking a hardline on drug issues, partially because of the unfortunate passing of Smackdown superstar Lance Cade this week.

The Specialists on ECW are the former American Wolves of Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards. They are going straight into a program with the World's Greatest Tag Team and many in the company are high on them to be top contenders for the Unified Tag Team Champions, and perhaps even hold the titles by 2011 due to their impressive work in FCW, where they were head and shoulders above.

The Undertaker/Mike Knox match at Summerslam was cut short, due to the Undertaker suffering a minor injury that allowed him to work the match but limited what he could do. The match will be redone on Smackdown in a couple of weeks.

The line up for Night of Champions appears to Edge defending the WWE Championship against Paul Burchill, Ted DiBiase defending the World Heavyweight Title against [sMACKDOWN SPOILER ERASED], Bryan Danielson putting the ECW Championship on the line against Vladimir Koslov, Evan Bourne and Rey Mysterio defending the Unified Tag Team Titles against Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton, and CM Punk defending the United States Title against the Big Show. Mia Mancini's Unified Women's Title defense and Christian's WWE Intercontinental Title defense has yet to be announced.

The plan for Bragging Rights this year is going to be a best of seven series of matches, simliiar to the WCW versus NJPW series at Starrcade 1995. The WWE Champion will meet the World Heavyweight Champion in the main event.

John Morrison worked a post show RAW dark match, teaming with Kofi Kingston and Edge to defeat Chris Jericho, CM Punk, and Paul Burcill. Morrison is moving to RAW shortly, but until the end of the month, he's on Smackdown.

Shawn Michaels is said to want to work a program with former trainee Bryan Danielson before he retires to pass the torch. It appears that Michaels might be hanging it up by Wrestlemania 27, working a reduced schedule with some Pay Per Views and scattered RAWs.

The Pay Per View poster for Hell in a Cell in October features Batista and Triple H on it. Make of that what you will.

WWE Superstars 8/19/10

Hype for tonight’s main event on WGN America, featuring the Dudebusters taking on the World’s Greatest Tag Team, courtesy of ECW, in a return match from nine days ago on ECW.

Dolph Ziggler pinned Unified Tag Team Champion Evan Bourne with the Zig Zag in 8:22 An impressive back and forth match, with Bourne getting the early offense, but Ziggler making the comeback. Ziggler takes down Bourne and works him over, but Bourne comes back, getting several nearfalls. Bourne hits a springboard clothesline for a nearfall and he beats on Ziggler, but Ziggler counters his charge with a Stun Gun and he snaps the neck of Bourne off the top rope, before setting him up and hitting the Zig Zag to score a huge win over the Unified Tag Team Champion. (B)

R-Truth pinned Rene Dupree with the Lie Detector in 7:22 Dupree and Truth had an impressive back and forth match as well, with Dupree using his devious tactics. Ezekiel Jackson, Dupree’s bodyguard, was ejected and this allowed R-Truth to stage an impressive comeback, hitting the Lie Detector for the pin. (C+)

Recap of RAW, with CM Punk’s rampage, before the investigation of the contract that Vince McMahon signed back before Extreme Rules and whether he broke it, is announced. We also will finally have a new RAW General Manager in the next few weeks.

The World’s Greatest Tag Team defeated the Dudebusters when Shelton Benjamin pinned Caylen Croft with a missile dropkick into an Exploder Suplex in 13:22 Both teams are looking forward to challenging the Unified Tag Team Champions Evan Bourne and Rey Mysterio down the road. The Dudebusters isolate Haas in the ring, beating him down but the hot tag is made, allowing Shelton Benjamin to run wild. Haas catches Croft with a missile dropkick, knocking him right into the T-Bone Suplex of Benjamin and then Baretta is taken out as well. Benjamin scores the pin. (B-)

Smackdown 8/20/10

Hype for tonight’s fatal four way number one contenders match featuring John Cena, Rey Mysterio, Batista, and Chris Jericho. The winner will challenge Ted DiBiase for the World Heavyweight Title at Night of Champions.

The Undisputed Women’s Champion Mia Mancini made Mickie James submit to a rear naked choke in 10:02 We open things up with a match between the top woman on Smackdown Mickie James, as she tries to win the Undisputed Women’s Championship from Mia Mancini. Mancini used some diabolical tactics from ringside, as Maryse cheered on her charge from ringside. Beth Phoenix runs out and goes after Maryse, chasing her around the ring, but Mickie James goes for the DDT. That is blocked and Mancini hits a German Suplex, flipping Mickie onto her face, before applying a rear naked choke for the submission. (C+)

Mike Knox is in the ring, with a shovel, talking about how he stared into the face of darkness and did not back down. He saw the fear in the Undertaker’s eyes, a paralyzing mortality that cripples even the most hardened of men. He says that the Undertaker hides behind his mind games due to a deep rooted fear that he will be exposed as just another man. Knox promises to rip the Undertaker’s skin from his flesh and make a coat out of it and then bury the Undertaker deep within the earth, where maggots will feast upon his bones. Knox says he wants one more match with the Undertaker, but not just any match. He wants a Buried Alive Match with the Undertaker. It is one thing to trap someone in a casket, but it is another to take them out enough to bury them alive. Knox says that when he submerges the Undertaker under tons of dirt, the oxygen will slowly fade from the Undertaker, as his internal organs shut down one by one and the Undertaker will be sent to his eternal torment, where ghouls and goblins will feast upon his tattered soul. Knox drops the microphone, as Matt Hardy comes out for our next match.

Matt Hardy defeated Mike Knox via disqualification in 7:22 when Knox drilled Matt Hardy right with the shovel. Matt Hardy got several nearfalls but Knox used his brutality to beat down Matt Hardy. Knox beats down Hardy but Hardy makes the comeback until Knox gets the shovel and waffles Hardy with it for the disqualification. (B-)

Knox drills the shovel into the stomach of Hardy but the lights go out and the Undertaker’s voice appears, talking about how Knox could have left it all to rest at Summerslam but he decided to test his luck with the forces of darkness. The Undertaker says that he’ll give Knox two weeks to get his last will and testament in order, because they will face off in a Buried Alive Match. The announcers talk about how its been some time since we’ve seen a Buried Alive Match and no doubt that it will be a memorable experience in two weeks on Smackdown.

Kane pinned Jack Swagger with the Choke Slam in 11:44 Swagger worked over the knee of Kane, limiting his mobility throughout this match but Kane fought back. Swagger applies a leg scissors but Kane fights to the ropes and beats on Swagger. Swagger goes low and leaps to the second rope but Kane catches him and Choke Slams him for the pin. Kane favors the knee but he’s scored an impressive win over Jack Swagger tonight, who really put the former WWE Champion through the paces. (B)

Ted DiBiase cuts a promo, talking about how it doesn’t matter which of the four men win the number one contendership for Night of Champions, he’s going to be the champion still. Everyone wrote him off at Summerslam and again, he kept the belt. He calls out the man who he beat for the title, John Morrison, because everyone is still complaining about how DiBiase took advantage of a cheapshot and he beat Morrison. DiBiase will prove that he can defeat Morrison when he’s fresh and he says he’s given the Fortunate Sons the night off, so there will be no doubt in everyone’s mind who the World Heavyweight Champion is.

World Heavyweight Champion Ted DiBiase pinned John Morrison with the Dream Street, after Christian and William Regal distracted Morrison at ringside by brawling with each other in 14:55 Both men had a back and forth match but William Regal makes his way out, to get a closer look at this match. Morrison hit a Pele Kick on DiBiase and Regal started to heckle him, calling Morrison a trapeze artist and spot monkey but out comes Christian, to get into it with Regal. DiBiase jumps Morrison from behind and hits the Dream Street for the pin, as Christian and Regal exchange punches. (B)

DiBiase leaves with the victory as Morrison dives right onto both Christian and Regal. Morrison pops up as Christian slowly pulls himself to his feet and shoves Morrison. Morrison tries to protest that he hit Christian in the crossfire but Christian is not too happy, with Regal back up and he grabs the WWE Intercontinental Championship Christian dropped and gives both men a shot with the belt, before looking at it and dropping it down. Regal appears to have his sights set on the WWE Intercontinental Title and both Morrison and Christian have been taken out, with Regal making a statement.

John Cena defeated Rey Mysterio, Batista, and Chris Jericho to become the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Title when Cena made Jericho tap out the STF in 18:55 All four men battled for the right to challenge Ted DiBiase for the World Heavyweight Title at Night of Champions. It was an insane, back and forth battle, with several nearfalls. At the end, Jericho went for the Code Breaker but Cena blocks it and applies the STF as Batista reverses a rana into a Batista Bomb, pinning Rey but the referee does not see it as Jericho taps out. (B)

Batista raises his hands but Cena is the winner. Batista goes for Cena but Cena catches him and gives him an Attitude Adjustment. Cena talks about how everyone around the WWE Universe has been waiting to say it for months but they will finally say it again at Night of Champions when he beats Ted DiBiase. They will say….”THE CHAMP IS HERE!” Children cheer joyously, with John Cena and Ted DiBiase for the World Heavyweight Title hyped up for Night of Champions. That is your main event.

WWE Monday Night RAW 8/23/10

We are live on RAW and we see a disturbance in the crowd, as Triple H is standing there, arguing with security at ringside. Triple H shows a ticket that he bought for the show tonight and security have no choice but to let him sit there, but warn Triple H that should he get involved at the show, he will be treated as any other fan who gets involved. Triple H shrugs them off, as Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler inform us that the Board of Directors will be watching RAW closely over the next few weeks, as they investigate what has gone on involving Vince McMahon and CM Punk, along with the future appointment of a RAW General Manager. Also, next week will be the 900th RAW, hype for that and a huge six man tag team main event that will serve as a preview for Night of Champions, with the Unified Tag Team Champions Evan Bourne and Rey Mysterio joining forces with the WWE Champion Edge to take on Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Paul Burchill. Plus Kofi Kingston returns from his time on the shelf against Sheamus and much more tonight on RAW.

The Hart Dynasty defeated Chris Masters and the Hurricane when Smith pinned Masters with the Springboard Hart Attack in 8:02 The Hart Dynasty took on the new tag team of Chris Masters and the Hurricane, who are looking to make an impact on RAW, as the future of the show is up in the air. The Hurricane plays face in peril but fights back. Masters is tagged in and Masters beats on both members of the Hart Dynasty, until Natalya interjects herself, allowing the Hart Dynasty to finish off Masters with the Springboard Hart Attack. (B)

Gail Kim and Beth Phoenix defeated the WWE Undisputed Women’s Champion Mia Mancini(w/Maryse) and Natalya when Beth Phoenix pinned Natalya with the Glam Slam in 6:22 Gail Kim was battered for most of this match but the Glamazon is tagged in. Mancini bolts from the ring, leaving Beth Phoenix to destroy Natalya and pin her with the Glam Slam. (C+)

Beth Phoenix gets on the microphone and demands a Undisputed Women’s Championship Match at Night of Champions but Maryse refuses, saying that her client has nothing to prove against the Glamazon. The fans are booing, as Beth Phoenix says she’d rip Maryse’s bleach blond hair out by the roots and stuff it down her throat, if she doesn’t get a title shot. She said that she had Mancini’s number of times. Maryse offers Beth Phoenix a deal. If Phoenix and a partner of her choosing can beat Maryse and Mancini next week on RAW, then Beth Phoenix can get her Undisputed Women’s Championship shot at Night of Champions. If Beth Phoenix and her partner loses, then she has to be Maryse’s personal lapdog, to push around and do whatever she tells her. Phoenix accepts, saying she will have no problem finding a partner and Gail Kim agrees to be the Glamazon’s partner once again, but Maryse has a calculating smirk on her face.

Out comes Zack Ryder, who pushes around the members of the ring crew and throws a young member of the ring crew in the ring. Ryder says he’s sick of being disrespected and the ring crew are laughing at him. Ryder tells us that he is the future of WWE and he slaps the ring crew member a few times, but out comes Mark Henry from the back to stand up for the right of the WWE ring crew.

Mark Henry pinned Zack Ryder with the World’s Strongest Slam in 4:22 Ryder manages to take out Henry’s leg after getting thrown around and work on it, but Henry uses his power to fight back. Ryder is on top and cross body block but Ryder spends too much time on the top rope and gets caught with the World’s Strongest Slam for the pin. (C-)

Out comes CM Punk, who talks about how he has video tape evidence that Vince McMahon is not fit to be the leader of the WWE Universe. Punk has a video tape full of Vince McMahon’s career “highlights”, beating his son Shane with various weapons, choking his daughter Stephanie with a pipe, yelling at his wife and saying that he wants a divorce. Also, we see some moments of various wrestlers being forced to pucker up and kiss the ass of the Chairman and finally Vince McMahon’s relationships with the divas, many of them less than half of his age. Punk asks if that’s the man that they want to see in the company, at the head. Punk also tells Triple H that he better sit down and shut up, that he’s suspended and if he wants to sit in front of the intoxicated and drug addled fans, that’s his business, but Punk is going to compete in the ring, something Triple H can no longer due until this investigation by the Board of Directors is over.

CM Punk pinned Ryan Boz with the GTS in 2:44 Punk pretty much destroyed this local talent with a series of kicks, elbows, and the GTS for the pin. (C-)

We see CM Punk standing in the ring and he beats on his opponent for several more minutes, but out comes the Big Show. Punk bails, but the Big Show traps his path, so he goes into the crowd, where Triple H is up, blocking his path. Triple H stumbles, “inadvertently” hitting Punk and Punk staggers right into the path of the Big Show’s huge knockout punch! The United States Champion has been put out with his opponent at Night of Champions and Triple H is being escorted by security, perhaps to spend a night in jail, but he’s gotten what he wanted.

We are in the back and Gail Kim is down, clutching her shoulder and collar bone in pain, as Katie Lea Burchill and Jillian continue to beat on her. We see Eve Torres moving in to attempt to make the save, but Alicia Fox jumps her from behind and slams her facefirst into a wall, before giving her an Axe Kick. We see Maryse standing in the background, with a smug expression on her face, as two divas have been wiped out! Beth Phoenix might have to go it alone, as her partner for next week has been wiped out.

Kofi Kingston pinned Sheamus with a roll up in 8:22 Sheamus welcomed the returning Kofi Kingston back to RAW with a brutal beating. Kofi fought back, trying to reclaim some of his lost momentum after spending six weeks on the shelf with a concussion, but he missed the Trouble in Paradise. Sheamus went for the Celtic Cross but Kofi slid down and rolled him up for the pin. Afterwards, Sheamus jumped Kingston from behind and delivered a violent big boot, sending him into the ring steps. Kofi might have won this match but he could have suffered another concussion at the hands or rather the feet of Sheamus. (B-)

We have hype for the huge three hour RAW next week, the 900th show. We’re going to see the return of the King of the Ring Tournament, where eight superstars from RAW, Smackdown, and ECW collide to determine the 2010 King of the Ring. Plus Champion Versus Champion when the WWE Champion Edge meets the World Heavyweight Champion Ted DiBiase and a huge blockbuster six man tag team match, with Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, and Batista taking on The Undertaker, the Big Show, and with his ban from RAW being lifted for one night only, John Cena. Six former World Champions in a colossal six man tag. Plus a special message from the most Electrifying Man in the history of Sports Entertainment, the Rock, and perhaps many more surprises on this three hour 900th episode of RAW.

Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Paul Burchill defeated the Unified Tag Team Champions Evan Bourne and Rey Mysterio When Burchill pinned Edge with a throwing vertical suplex into a folding power bomb in 12:02 A back and forth match between six of the top competitors in WWE today. Evan Bourne was grounded for a short time, but he fought out of the corner. Rey is tagged in and ran wild, but got more of the same. Tag made to Edge and he runs wild. The Unified Tag Team Champions and Rhodes and Orton leave the ring, leaving Edge and Burchill, the two men who will face off with the WWE Championship on the line at Night of the Champions. Edge goes for the Spear but Burchill blocks it with a kneelift and has Edge. He hoists him up for a vertical suplex, throws him into the air and brings him down with a folding power bomb to score the pin. Burchill has pinned Edge for the second time, with that same move. Third time could be the charm at Night of Champions and Burchill could be the first ever British WWE Champion! We fade out with hype for that. (B)
