ECW On Sy Fy 8/24/10

A recap of last week, where Vladimir Koslov crashed onto the scene and destroyed the ECW Champion Bryan Danielson, setting up their championship match at Night of Champions.

The Specialists defeated the Flaming Infernos when Michael Courtier pinned Flaming Inferno #2 with a Spiked Brain Buster in 6:22 The Specialists of Lawrence Davis and Michael Courtier made their debuts last week and went to work on the Flaming Infernos, two men in masks and orange and gold jumpsuits, a local tag team. The Specialists used their great tag team wrestling abilities, with Davis having one of the masked men up for a brain buster, as Courtier dives off the top rope, spiking him into the canvas, for the pin. The Specialists have their sights set on tag glory in ECW and the Unified Tag Team Titles down the line. ©

Vladimir Koslov K’oed Luke Haux in 1:44 with an elbow right to the side of the head Haux was a young man who was really up against the wall, against the Mad Russian tonight. Koslov caught him with a series of punches, kicks, before hitting a slam and then knocking him out with the elbow right to the head. Haux is judged unconscious and the match is stopped. (D)

Koslov gives the unconscious Haux a spinebuster, but out comes the ECW Champion Bryan Danielson to brawl with Koslov and give him a violent kick right to the face. Danielson now guillotines Koslov and unloads with elbows, but Koslov fights out. Security pours out, to protect the ECW Championship Match at Night of Champions. Vladimir Koslov has not gotten his shoulders pinned the mat in over six months and has beaten many men via knockout. If he knocks out Bryan Danielson at Night of Champions, he will be the new ECW Champion.

Justin Gabriel defeated Drew McIntyre via disqualification when McIntyre threw Gabriel into the referee in 2:44 The fans are cheering, as Gabriel blocks an early attack by McIntyre and fights back, but McIntyre throws Gabriel right into the referee, to get himself disqualified. (C-)

McIntyre beats on Gabriel and goes for a double underhook DDT but Gabriel fights out and hits a pair of dropkicks on McIntyre, sending him to the floor. Gabriel gets on the microphone, talking about how he already ran one pompous loudmouth off of ECW, with an overinflated sense of his own abilities and he could do the same to McIntyre.

A shadowed figure with a distorted voice talks about how they tried to change him, they tried to make him conform to their own sense. They could not stand that he was unbeatable, that their sports entertainers were not good enough to beat him, so he was buried and then forced out of the company. He will return and he will prove that evolution cannot be stopped. He will force WWE to change and prove that there is not a single person good enough to beat him. The future arrives soon and there is nothing to stop the inevitable.

Unified Tag Team Champions Evan Bourne and Rey Mysterio defeated the World’s Greatest Tag Team when Mysterio pinned Haas with a Springboard Splash in 12:33 Both teams fought hard for the Unified Tag Team Titles, with lots of double teaming moves. In the end, Bourne dove onto Benjamin on the floor and this allowed Rey to dial up the 6-1-9 and connect with the Springboard Splash on Haas to keep the Unified Tag Team Titles around their waists. Chavo Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler defeated Cryme Tyme when Chavo pinned JTG with the Frog Splash in 8:00 Chavo and Ziggler reunite tonight, although their careers are in quite different places then their previous association some time ago. Shad was beaten down in the corner, but Shad fights out. JTG runs wild in the ring but Ziggler goes low with a chop block, allowing Chavo to hit a DDT and Chavo climbs to the top rope, hitting the Frog Splash for the pin. (C+)

Goldust pinned Caylen Croft with the Powerslam in 7:12 Trent Baretta trips Goldust and is forced to the back, and Goldust beats on Croft. Croft is slammed in the corner, with Goldust hitting a kneelift right in the corner but Croft goes to the eyes and beats on Goldust, but he misses a flying clothesline. Croft staggers into the powerslam and Goldust pins him. ©

Trent Baretta attacks Goldust after the match and the Dudebusters are now beating down Goldust but the World’s Greatest Tag Team run off the Dudebusters, making the save and checking on Goldust.

Recap of the end of RAW, with Paul Burchill pinning Edge in a six man tag team match. Hype for RAW, with the King of the Ring Tournament being front and center. Also the winner of the tournament will not only get crowned King, but will also get one match of their choosing. Men from RAW, Smackdown, and ECW will compete to become the 2010 King of the Ring on the 900th episode of RAW.

Ezekiel Jackson and Rene Dupree defeated Yoshi Tatsu and R-Truth when Dupree pinned Truth with a spinebuster from Jackson in 11:22 Tatsu and R-Truth run wild, as the announcers put them over as former(for a short time) Unifed Tag Team Champions and they would like nothing better than to get the belts back. Tatsu is cut off and Jackson and Dupree double team him for most of the match. Tatsu fights back and hot tag to R-Truth. Truth runs wild and takes out Dupree, but the referee gets dropped on the offense. Jackson jumps Truth from behind and lays him out with a spinebuster. Tatsu is taken out and Dupree pins Truth to get the win. (B-)

WWE Smackdown 8/27/10

William Regal and Jack Swagger defeated John Morrison and the WWE Intercontinental Champion Christian when Regal pinned Morrison with the Knee Trembler in 10:22 Striker points out on commentary that William Regal beat Christian for the ECW Championship and now he wants a shot at the WWE Intercontinental Title. All four men brawl, as the announcers put over the Intercontinental Championship and how there’s some impressive competition for Christian’s opponent, his next title defense at Night of Champions. Christian is double teamed but he makes the tag to Morrison, who runs wild. Swagger and Christian brawl to the floor and Morrison misses a springboard cross body, allowing Regal to drill Morrison with a vicious Knee Trembler to score the pin. A huge victory for William Regal as earlier this year, John Morrison was the World Heavyweight Champion. The announcers also announce that all four of these men will be part of the 2010 King of the Ring Tournament, along with Kofi Kingston, CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, and Bryan Danielson. That is your field of eight this year. Regal won the tournament the last time it was held in 2008 and he would love nothing better to be King again and get that one match of his choosing as stipulated by winning the tournament. (B)

We see Maryse backstage, talking about how Beth Phoenix might recruit Mickie James as her tag team partner on Monday, against Mancini and Maryse, after Gail Kim and Eve Torres suffered unfortunate accidents. Therefore, she’s hands Michelle McCool and Layla two envelopes, full of stacks of hundred dollar bills, to take out Mickie James tonight. Maryse also says that she’ll throw in a Unified Women’s Title shot against Mia Mancini, if they do a good job and Laycool agrees to take out Mickie James, when Michelle faces Mickie tonight.

The Miz pinned Booker T with a roll up with the feet on the ropes for leverage in 7:22. The Miz is beaten down by Booker T for most of this match but he makes a comeback. Booker T then fights back after a moment of offense from the Miz, but Booker misses a Harlem Side kick, allowing the Miz to score a pin with a roll up, using the ropes for leverage. The Miz has beaten the former six time World Champion in one of the biggest wins in his career, but Booker jumps the Miz afterwards and lays him out with the Book End to a huge pop. The Miz might have won the match but Booker T walks out, while the Miz has been laid out. (B+)

A video package, hyping the history between the Undertaker and Mike Knox for their Buried Alive Match next week. We see Knox, stating that the Undertaker’s body will be feasted on by parasites once Knox breaks every bone in his body and drives him deep beneath the earth, with internal organs shutting down and then they will be consumed by maggots. Knox says there won’t be enough left of the Undertaker to fill a matchbox next week. We see the Undertaker in the Graveyard, hood over his head, still not showing his face after Knox destroyed it two months ago with a wrench, shoveling dirt in a grave, with a headstone that says KNOX on it. The Undertaker promises that Knox will get his eternal torment next week and he will Rest in Peace. The Undertaker lifts his arms and lightning strikes the grave. We see the fire burn as we have hype for that Buried Alive Match between the Undertaker and Mike Knox next week.

Mickie James defeated Michelle McCool via disqualification when Layla attack Mickie James with a knee clip in 2:33 Mickie James knocks Layla off the ring apron and goes to work on Michelle McCool dominating this match but Layla runs in for the disqualification, taking out Mickie’s knee. Afterwards, Laycool took turns beating on Mickie’s right knee, smashing it into the ring post before Layla dropkicks it into the post. Mickie has to be helped from the back, as another potential partner for the Glamazon has been taken out before the 900th RAW. (C-)

Chris Jericho pinned Kane after reversing the Choke Slam into a Code Breaker in 14:22 Jericho stalls Kane and Kane beats on Jericho for the opponent moments of this match, until Jericho uses some shady tactics to swing the match his way. Jericho beats on Kane some more during the match but Walls of Jericho is countered. Big Boot and a tilt a whirl powerslam, before Kane goes to the outside and flying clothesline connects with Jericho. Kane goes for the Choke Slam but Jericho blocks it. Kane clotheslines Jericho down and goes for a second Choke Slam but Jericho counters with the Code Breaker in mid move and pins Kane. After the match, Kane sits up and grabs Jericho, giving him a thunderous Choke Slam to a big pop. Jericho has been splattered and the fans are cheering at Kane getting the better of Chris Jericho (B-)

The Fortunate Sons are backstage, with Ted DiBiase telling his younger brother Brett that he has a chance of a life time, to beat John Cena, just like Ted is going to do a Night of Champions and keep the World Heavyweight Title. Brett says that Cena might not make it to Night of Champions and Hennig and Ted wish him luck, but as they go out, Smackdown General Manager Bret Hart leads in security, telling that the Fortunate Sons are banned from ringside for this match and Brett DiBiase just shrugs, saying that he’ll prove himself against John Cena.

John Cena made Brett DiBiase tap out the STF in 11:01 Cena knocked DiBiase around, as the announcers talk about Cena is on a mission, to regain the World Heavyweight Title. Cena beats on DiBiase and ten count punches, but DiBiase hits an inverted atomic drop and a reverse neckbreaker to get the heat. Brett beats on Cena for several minutes, gaining a couple of nearfalls but he misses a charge in the corner and Cena makes a comeback. Cena goes for the Attitude Adjustment but DiBiase slides out the back door. He runs into a spinebuster and Cena goes to the second rope. Second rope legdrop to a hunched over Brett DiBiase misses and DiBiase goes for a spinning toe hold, but Cena counters that into the STF for the tap out! (B)

Afterwards, Joe Hennig runs out, as does Ted DiBiase. Cena leaves the ring, to save himself, and gets on them microphone, talking about how he’s going to run through the Fortunate Sons. He beat Brett DiBiase this week. Next week he’s going to beat Joe Hennig and then at Night of Champions, where the entire world is watching, he’s going to beat Ted DiBiase for the World Heavyweight Title and the champ will be here. Hype for next week with Joe Hennig against John Cena and the Buried Alive Match between Mike Knox and the Undertaker.

Well, my computer just died. Died beyond all repair.

The good news is that I've gotten everything backed up elsewhere. So this diary will continue.

The bad news is that I won't be able to be on here that much until I get a new computer. Hopefully it will come by Wednesday or Thursday. I have limited Internet availability and obviously TEW is low on the priority list right now. So RAW and ECW will be way late.

WWF Monday Night RAW 8/30/10:

A look at several highlights from the past 900 episodes of Monday Night RAW, from the first episode of 1993, featuring the Undertaker against Damien Demento, to the stars today.

A look at the brackets of the King of the Ring Tournament for tonight.

United States Champion CM Punk defeated Intercontinental Champion Christian to advance to the semifinals of the tournament with a GTS off of the second rope in 11:22 Lots of back and forth action, as we kick off with the King of the Ring Tournament with this huge meeting. Christian and Punk traded moves, getting several nearfalls. GTS is blocked at the first time and Christian hits a tornado DDT for a two count. Ten count punches in the corner but Punk hangs up Christian on the top rope, before climbing to the second rope and hitting the GTS for the pin. Punk gets on the microphone and hypes up the fact that he’ll be the first ever straight edge KOTR winner. (B-)

Moment in RAW history: We see the man known as the Kid score a major upset in 1993 over Razor Ramon. The Kid would go onto to be one of the top stars of the Attitude era, X-Pac, a cornerstone of DeGeneration X. As for where he is today, well we heard a rumor that he’s spent a lot of time in China.

John Morrison pinned Drew McIntyre with a backspring cross body block out of the corner in 10:09 McIntyre gains an early advantage, beating up Morrison but Morrison stages a comeback, hitting a springboard forearm smash out of the corner. Pele Kick but McIntyre power bombs him out of the corner for a two count. McIntyre beats on him but Morrison blocks a power bomb and counters with a sunset flip for a two count. Morrison is thrown into the corner but he elbows McIntyre and leaps to the second rope, hitting a backspring into a cross body for the pin. (B-)

We see Randy Orton, who shows footage from the Last Man Standing Match at Backlash, where he banished John Cena from RAW. He also talks about how he kicked Cena’s father in the head a few years ago and we see footage from that. Orton talks about how he’s the present and the future of RAW and one day, he will become WWE Champion. Right now, he and Cody Rhodes is going for the Unified Tag Team Titles.

Moment in RAW History: Shawn Michaels collapses in the ring during a 1995 match against Owen Hart, in one of the most terrifying moments in wrestling, just one month after getting beaten up by a dozen thugs in Syracuse, New York. Shawn Michaels would return to the ring to put together a Hall of Fame level career.

William Regal defeated Kofi Kingston to advance in the 2010 KOTR Tournament with the Knee Trembler in 9:22, with some help from Sheamus Regal, the 2008 KOTR winner, wants to win his second King of the Ring, but the high octane, Kofi Kingston battled him, hitting a lot of high octane offense. Sheamus drags Kofi right to the floor as Regal distracts the referee and gives him a boot on the floor, before throwing him into the ring. Regal hits a Knee Trembler for the pin to advance. (B)

Moment in RAW History: Stone Cold Steve Austin hits the Stone Cold Stunner on Vince McMahon for the first time in many times, kicking off the feud that would make World Wrestling Entertainment into a billion dollar corporation and the worldwide leader in Sports Entertainment.

Bryan Danielson made Jack Swagger submit to the Cattle Mutilation in 8:55 Swagger and Danielson trade some submission moves at the bell, with Danielson nailing him with a knee strike. Another pair of knee strikes catches Swagger, before hitting a springboard dropkick for a two count. Danielson hammers away at Swagger but Swagger takes him down with a spinebuster and a pump splash but Danielson gets the knees up and then elbows away at the back of the head of Swagger. Danielson locks on the Cattle Mutilation for the submission victory. (B-)

We cut backstage, where Beth Phoenix is talking to Melina. They have had their problems in the past but Beth Phoenix wants to team up with Melina to take on Maryse and Mancini. Melina agrees and the Glamazon appears to have a partner finally tonight.

Moment in RAW History: Rocky Maivia beats Hunter Hearst Helmsley in an upset to win the WWE Intercontinental Title. Years later, both of these men became two of the biggest stars in the history of Monday Night RAW, the Rock and Triple H respectively.

We cut to a room, where the Rock is sitting, getting huge cheers from the fans. The Rock cuts an inspired promo, talking about how its great for him to finally come back to RAW. He talks about how there have been nine hundred episodes of RAW and The Rock has been part of a great deal of them. The Rock says that RAW will have nine hundred more great episodes, or perhaps even more. The Rock sits back and raises an eyebrow, as the fans cheer.

Unified Tag Team Champions Rey Mysterio and Evan Bourne defeated the Hart Dynasty, the Fortunate Sons, and Chavo Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler when Bourne pinned Chavo with the Air Bourne to retain the Unified Tag Team Titles in 5:22 A wild brawl between four teams, as the announcers talk about the great tag team action that has been a staple of RAW for the past nine hundred episodes. The Fortunate Sons and the Hart Dynasty brawl on the outside, with Rey taking out Ziggler with the 6-1-9 and Bourne taking down Chavo and hitting the Air Bourne for the pin. (B)

Moment in RAW History: DX invades WCW Monday Nitro back in 1998.

We cut to the backstage area, where Melina is down backstage, with her ankle injured, and we see Mia Mancini running by her. Maryse says it appears that Beth Phoenix lost another partner and she might have to go it alone. A few more stomps and Melina is left in the hallway.

Another moment in RAW history: Vince McMahon announces his purchase of WCW but Shane McMahon swoops in and announces that he is fact purchasing WCW.

CM Punk is out and he talks about how he’s going to be the first ever Straight Edge King of the Ring winner and he calls out his opponent for the semifinals, John Morrison.

United States Champion CM Punk pinned John Morrison with the GTS in 10:22 Morrison and Punk exchange offense, going back and forth throughout this match, with Morrison missing a dive off the top rope. Punk drills him right in the face with a vicious roundhouse kick and then hoists him up, before hitting the GTS to score the pin. (B)

Moment in RAW History: Stone Cold Steve Austin douses Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon, and the Rock in the infamous beer bath in 1999.

ECW Champion Bryan Danielson pinned William Regal with the small package to advance into the semifinals of the KOTR Tournament in 8:20 Regal and Danielson did battle tonight, in a back and forth encounter, with Danielson gaining an advantage, blistering Regal with a series of high impact strikes. Regal made the comeback, taking Danielson down with a belly to back suplex and hitting a kneedrop to the stomach. Regal continues to pound away on Danielson, until Regal ducks the head and Danielson kicks him right in the face, before hitting a double underhook suplex. Danielson goes for the Cattle Mutilation but Regal fights out with a half nelson suplex and then goes for the Knee Trembler, but Danielson avoids that and rolls up Regal in a small package for the pin. It is now Bryan Danielson against CM Punk in the King of the Ring Finals. (B)

Moment in RAW History: The Millenium Countdown expires and Chris Jericho makes his debut on RAW to have a war of words with the Rock.

Out comes Ted DiBiase, stating that he’s going to beat Edge tonight, just like he’s going to beat John Cena at Night of Champions and keep his WWE Championship. DiBiase promises victory tonight and out comes Edge.

WWE Champion Edge defeated World Heavyweight Champion Ted DiBiase via disqualification in 14:22 when Paul Burchill ran in. Edge and DiBiase had an intense, back and forth contest, with DiBiase hitting a swinging neckbreaker on Edge’s previously injured neck, to get some offense. DiBiase beats on Edge in the center of the ring and drives him down, but Edge fights back, slamming DiBiase off of the top rope. Edge steps back and rushes into DiBiase, hitting the Spear for a two and nine tenths count but DiBiase was in the ropes. Out rushes Paul Burchill from the back and jumps Edge from behind, beating him down for the disqualification. (A)

Burchill and DiBiase unleash a huge double team assault on Edge but Christian runs out and makes the save, chasing off Burchill and DiBiase with a steel chair. Burchill and DiBiase leave the ring, as Christian helps Edge to his feet and both celebrate, striking a five second pose to cheers. Edge and Christian have held multiple tag team titles over the years on RAW. Hype made for the Paul Burchill against Edge match for the WWE Championship at Night of the Champions.

Moments in RAW History: Lita beat Stephanie McMahon in the first WWE Women’s Title Match in the entire history of RAW.

We see Mia Mancini and Maryse making their way down to the ring for the match tonight. Beth Phoenix comes out and she stands on the rampway. Maryse says the deal for the match was to have a tag team partner and since Beth Phoenix has no tag team partner, she has to forfeit. The Glamzon talks about how Mancini and Maryse have taken out pretty much every diva on the roster, but the rule never stated that her partner had to be a diva. Cue the music and Santino Marella walks out, with Glamarella reunited on RAW. Santino and Beth Phoenix enter the ring, ready for action on RAW.

Beth Phoenix and Santino Marella defeated Maryse and Mia Mancini when Beth Phoenix pinned Mancini with the Glam Slam in 2:22 Beth Phoenix attacks Macnini as Santino grabs Maryse and gives her a huge kiss, to cheers from the crowd and much disgust from Maryse, who bolts from the ring, looking about ready to vomit. The Glamazon finishes off Mancini handily with a vicious Glam Slam, as Santino puts the thumbs up. As a result, Mancini and Phoenix will collide for the Undisputed Women’s Title as part of Night of Champions. (D+)

Moment in RAW History: In 2008, William Regal beat CM Punk to win the last King of the Ring Tournament.

United States Champion CM Punk defeated ECW Champion Bryan Danielson to become the 2010 King of the Ring in 14:22 when Punk made Danielson pass out in the Anaconda Vice Two years ago Punk failed to win the King of the Ring Tournament, losing out to William Regal in the finals. This time, Punk was the winner but once again, Bryan Danielson did not go down without a fight. Danielson went for a swandive headbutt but Punk rolled out of the way. Punk beat on Danielson with a multitude of elbow strikes to the back of the head. Punk went for the GTS twice but Danielson countered twice, nearly putting Punk away. Danielson rolled through with a sunset flip and hit a multitude of elbows to the side of the head, but Punk escaped the Cattle Mutilation, before he hung up Danielson on the ropes and then hit a roundhouse kick, before applying the Anaconda Vice for a swift pass out victory to win the King of the Ring. (B)

Punk gets on the microphone, to celebrate his victory, a joyous expression on his face, as he declares himself the first ever Straight Edge King of the Ring winner and vows to use his guaranteed match to go on and capture the WWE Championship, the only championship belt that he has yet to hold in WWE.

Moment in RAW History: Randy Orton punts the Rock in the head earlier this year, leading to the Rock returning for one more match at Wrestlemania 26 against Orton for the WWE Championship.

John Cena, the Big Show, and the Undertaker defeated Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, and Batista when Cena made Orton tap out the STF in 14:22 An insane six man tag team encounter tonight, with all six men battling for a chance to prove that they belong in WWE. The Big Show as double teamed and triple teamed but he fought out of the corner and makes the tag to Cena, who runs wild on all of his opponents. The Undertaker dumps Batista and the Big Show takes care of Jericho, leaving Orton and Cena to do battle one more time, one on one. Orton takes out Cena and goes for the punt, but Cena avoids it and trips him up, before locking the STF on for the submission. (A)

Cena celebrates the win, having gotten a measure of revenge on Orton after all those months. We thank the fans for tuning into RAW and we’re hoping for nine hundred more great episodes of this show. Good night everyone!
