TOOL
Ultimate Fighting Championship November 12th 1993 - Live on Pay-Per-View Bill Wallace and Jim Brown welcome us to the show. They run down the rules of UFC and explain that tonight 8 men will fight for $50,000 in a 1-night Tournament. Quarter-finals of the 8-man Tournament Royce Gracie, 0-0, Brazil, 190lbs vs Art Jimmerson, 0-0, USA, 225lbs Royce Gracie dominated the majority of the fight. Gracie forces Jimmerson to Tap-Out with a Cross-Armbar. Winner and Advancing into the Semi-Finals: Royce Gracie (3:12, Submission) GREAT Quarter-finals of the 8-man Tournament Teila Tuli, 0-0, Hawaii, 460lbs vs Murilo Bustamante, 0-0, Brazil, 225lbs Teila Tuli is a massive brawler while Murilo Bustamante is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu artist. Tuli uses his size to keep himself on his feet and eventually knocking on Murilo with a Hook. Winner and Advancing into the Semi-Finals: Teila Tuli (6:23, Knock Out) VERY POOR Quarter-finals of the 8-man Tournament "The Russian Bear" Oleg Taktarov, 0-0, Russia, 240lbs vs Trent Jenkins, 0-0, USA, 195lbs The match seemed to be fairly even untill "The Russian Bear" took Trent Jenkins down to the mat. Oleg destroyed Trent on the ground with stiff hammer-like blows untill the referee stopped it. Winner and Advancing into the Semi-Finals: Oleg Taktarov (4:08, TKO) DECENT Quarter-finals of the 8-man Tournament Ken Shamrock, 0-0, USA, 245lbs vs Kazuo Takahasi, 0-0, Japan, 250lbs Both men land some huge bombs while they're standing. Shamrock takes Takahasi down and submits him with a Rear Naked Choke. Winner and Advancing into the Semi-Finals: Ken Shamrock (5:24, Submission) GREAT Semi-Finals of the 8-man Tournament Royce Gracie, 1-0, Brazil, 190lbs vs Teila Tuli, 1-0, Hawaii, 460lbs Very long and boring fight. Royce Gracie kept on trying to take the Hawaiian down but he's just wayy too big. Just when the 460lb Hawaiian looked gassed out, Teila knocked Royce out with a Right-Hook. HUGE UPSET! Who's going to stop this Monster?! Winner and Advancing into the Finals: Teila Tuli (35:00, Knock Out) VERY POOR Semi-Finals of the 8-man Tournament Ken Shamrock, 1-0, USA, 245lbs vs "The Russian Bear" Oleg Taktarov, 1-0, Russia, 240lbs Both men kept the fight very snug, trying to go for takedown instead of knockout strikes. Shamrock takes Taktarov down with a Belly-to-Belly Suplex, he gets ontop and starts throwing punches. Oleg catches one of the punches and forces Shamrock to tap from a Armbar. Another HUGE UPSET! Winner and Advancing into the Finals: Oleg Taktarov (17:38, Submission) VERY POOR Ultimate Fighting Championship announces it's return to Pay-Per-View, March 11th 1994 with another Tournament, this time it's for $60,000. Already announced in the Tournament, Renzo Gracie. Renzo is interviewed in the crowd, he has a Brazilian/English translator. When asked about being in UFC 2, he says that he will leave as the winner of the tournament, without a doubt. Finals of the 8-Man Tournament for $50,000 "The Russian Bear" Oleg Taktarov, 2-0, Russia, 240lbs vs Teila Tuli, 2-0, Hawaii, 460lbs Another long and drawn out fight. Teila Tuli looked extremely tired and gassed out. Oleg manages to drop Teila down with a punch and gets ontop of him, after a couple of punches, Teila Tuli taps out. Winner of the 8-Man Tournament: Oleg Taktarov (31:04, Submission) AVERAGE Oleg Taktarov is handed a large cheque for $50,000. When asked for comments about his win he said, in broken English, that UFC has some of the toughest fighters but he knows that he can beat them all. Oleg Taktarov promises to be back for UFC 2 and win that tournament as well. Show Rating: GREAT

Winner and Advancing in the Tournament: Ken Shamrock (1:43, TKO) GREAT Quarter-Finals of the 8-Man Tournament "El Guapo" Bas Rutten, 0-0, Netherlands, 205lbs vs Murilo Bustamante, 0-1, Brazil, 225lbs Fight starts off hot. Both men exchange some quick jabs which land...hard. Bas Rutten dominates, pushing him up against the cage, hitting some knee strikes to Bustamante's ribcage. Winner and Advancing in the Tournament: Murilo Bustamante (17:09, Submission) GREAT Semi-Finals of the 8-Man Tournament Royce Gracie, 2-1-2, Brazil, 190lbs vs Masakatsu Funaki, 3-1, Japan, 185lbs Long and drawn out fight. Both men spend most of the fight in either of clinch or on the ground. Masakatsu Funaki makes the mistake of giving up his back allowing Royce Gracie to apply a Rear Naked Choke. Winner and Advancing in the Tournament: Royce Gracie (34:36, Submission) POOR Semi-Finals of the 8-Man Tournament Murilo Bustamante, 1-1, Brazil, 225lbs vs Ken Shamrock, 2-1-2, USA, 245lbs Long and technical fight. Murilo Bustamante looked very good in the fight, keeping up with the "World's Dangerous Man". Ken Shamrock ends the fight with a Rear Naked Choke. Teila Tuli controls the fight by using his massive size to keep the fight standing. The fight becomes very drawn out, both men look extremely tried and gassed out. Teila Tuli lands an upper cut and knocks Renzo Gracie down! The Hawaiian Monster pounds on the 2-time UFC Tournament winner untill the referee stops the fight. ANOTHER UPSET!! A very similar fight to their other two, slow and technical. Eventually, Royce Gracie manages to apply an Armbar, forcing Ken Shamrock to Tap-Out!! Winner of the 8-Man Tournament: Royce Gracie (50:11, Submission) AVERAGE Royce Gracie gets presented with a $80,000 cheque. Royce Gracie says that he's proud to win the Tournament but he's insulted that Teila Tuli would refer himself as the "Gracie Killer". Royce says that his brother should have never tried to fight his battles and that he could take care of himself. Royce Gracie challenges Teila Tuli at the next UFC pay-per-view and says that he'll even put up his cheque for $80,000. SHOW RATING: GOOD
