I really need to see Hateful Eight.

Other modern westerns I really enjoyed:

The Lone Ranger

Django Unchained

Slow West

True Grit

Hostiles

3:10 To Yuma

I forgot about Django and 3:10 To Yuma. I do not remember if I saw the Lone Ranger, I think I have but I honestly do not recall.

I have never heard of the other two. I will have to check them out.

Not sure if they're still there, but Hostiles was on Netflix for awhile and Slow West was on Amazon Prime.

Hostiles has Christian Bale and Slow West has Michael Fassbender and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Slow West was the better of the two, but I liked both quite a bit.

I forgot to say anything about this, but I was shocked a couple of months ago when I saw a preview of a new Jigsaw movie which stars Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson. Shocked because I never even heard anything about this. Chris Rock is one of my favorite comedians of all-time (Though I do like George Carlin and Eddie Murphy slightly better) and Samuel L. Jackson is well Samuel L. Jackson. SLJ can make any movie he is in great just by him being in it.

To see them in it and it is a SAW movie, man I don't care if it sucks I want to see it.

Forgot to post about this the other day, but watched a random Mel Gibson movie called Blood Father and it was very good. Mel may not be the star be used to be, but his acting chops are still top notch. Also has Erin Moriarty from The Boys and Jessica Jones as Mel's estranged daughter.

It's on Netflix and I strongly recommend it.

I usually only buy blu Ray's, but picked up a bunch of DVDs for cheap today. Got Iron Giant, Hook, Indian in the Cupboard, Hercules(with the Rock), Pain & Gain, GI JOE Retaliation, Demolition Man, Passenger 57, Murder at 1600, Boiling Point, and US Marshalls.

If it wasn't obvious I'm a fan of the Rock and Wesley Snipes :o

I prefer blurries myself, (should probably change my name to Blu Ray Warrior at this point), but I'll still pick up the occasional DVD when I find it, if it's hard to come by or not available on the Blu. Got Ace Ventura: Pet Detective that way a couple weeks ago. Surprised I didn't have that one in the collection already, much as I love the 90s.

Pretty good set of pick ups there, Hook was definitely a favorite of mine when I was a kid.

My buddy and I have been on a kaiju movie kick lately. We watched the three Gamera movies from the 90s and the three Daimajin movies from the 60s and all six were great. They did a TV show based on Daimajin and we're trying to track that down now because of how good the movies were.

Are there any other non Godzilla/Gamera Kaiju movies we should be on the lookout for?

Still on the kaiju kick.

Watched Raiga: God of the Monsters. It was a z list movie, but the Raiga suit itself had a cool look. Weird ending that just comes out if nowhere. Can't really recommend it, but I've wasted $10 on worse entertainment.

Also watched Colossal with Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudekis. Very unique, well acted, but the explanation behind the twist is very lacking. I think they should have explained it better. Still though I found myself interested for the duration.

Hoping to make time to watch The Host and the movie Pulgasari. Pulgasari was a kaiju movie Kim Jong Il forced a South Korean director to make. I've heard excellent things about The Host and Pulgasari is said to be fairly solid as far as non-Godzilla Kaiju flicks go.

The 90s Gamera trilogy is the gold standard of all kaiju films and nobody can convince me otherwise.

As for other kaiju films, Rodan is an underrated classic, the Rebirth of Mothra trilogy is so bad it's good (and friggin' Atsushi Onita stars in the third one) and Q the Winged Serpent is a fun American take on the genre.

Watched House of 1,000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects last night and forgot how much I loved them. Watched 3 From Hell and it was pretty disappointing. Baby Firefly was beyond annoying. I just wanted to see her bite the bullet. Otis and Winslow were fun though.
