Board Effort Towards a Fictional Universe...

Recommended Posts

Sorry I vanished, end of the semester rush to get caught up on homework and that sort of thing. Back now.

In regards to the first post on the previous page which I'm too lazy to quote a 4:30am, Breakdown Wrestling is owned by a media group and I guestimated their popularity based on being on tv, but gave it a small bump in their home region. Some more experienced modder might have a decent reason to adjust that and would be welcome to, however.

I think that it will be easier to balance the data once we get the major promotions in.

Question for everyone.

Hellshock suggested this in a PM that I forgot to respond to, but it's a really interesting point/question so it bears mentioning here to:

Our database really doesn't have a talent base comparable to the CVerse or other mods. Part of this is that Mexico - which will have many of the worlds most prestigious/big promotions - isn't complete yet. The other reason for this is that we've just been scaling our workers down, on average, in the states.

Hellshock proposed that the U.S should have a similar talent base to that of the CVerse, but that the Tommy Cornell's/Angry Gilmore's/Sean McFly's of the world should be spread across different promotions.

Another line of thinking is that the best workers in the world wouldn't really stay in the states wants US-A fell after bloody Tuesday. Following that logic, the best talent workers would be spread across the rest of the globe in places like Canada, the UK and Mexico where better opportunities existed.

Finally, another line of thought goes into how big the US scene was at its Apex. Assuming that US-A was only a National size promotion (I forget the lore) and that there weren't any other National size promotions, then it would be fair to say that their simply was not enough talent in the states to support two massive powerhouses ala SWF/TCW and WWE/WCW. In that case, we may simply have a lower skill level across the globe.

Everyone please post your thoughts. :)

Well as I said in the 08 thread, I made my characters with lower stats. I did this because I am not really great with stats, and I just figured that when you balanced the stats people would get bumped up stats wise and popularity wise.

A lot of the big US-A workers ended up in the EWO. I thought the way we were doing it was that the US-A had a monopoly on the North American industry and therefore that was the company with the biggest stars. The EWO and TWA were the two promotions that benefitted directly from the US-A fall from grace as they got most of US-A's stars.

Bhk said that (I think it was FWF) the FWF was supposed to be designed similar to the NWA with territories and one World Champion over all of them. But, as we all know, an NWA style umbrella federation still isn't possible.

So I would guess the two remaining feds (Florida and Hawaii) where part of at least a National level group and may still have a couple of top level wrestlers on board. Some of the US-A guys might still be high caliber talent. Some might have even started their own feds to try and fill the vacuum left by the misfortunes of the US-A promotion. I know I have placed a handful in the RCW fed in Europe and a few more in the Japanese fed I've designed.

The MPWA in Mexico based on Stennick's design uses an American Sports Entertainment style, so a number of former American talent have found a home in the top Mexican fed.

I figure you "might" be able to find at least one former mid-card to main event level worker in each American fed even if he's semi-active or retired since then. The two lowest level feds "might" be the only exception but all the other feds in the U.S. are either regional (9 feds) or cult (2 feds) which would support my theory that they are on the verge of a nationwide promotion war. Even the smallest 2 are "small" feds that might become regional within a year or two if they don't lose talent to companies outside the U.S.

I was thinking that the Federal Wrestling Council (Florida and Hawaii and the rest of their promotions), lost their power by the late 1980's because they tried to challenge the US-A dominance and failed. So any of the wrestlers that were there at the time would be retired.

At the same time there are still the descendants of past stars who may be loaded with potential. (example: Randy Orton to Cowboy Bob Orton, Jr. to Bob Orton)

But nowhere major to go and no connections to get them overseas or North and South of the border.

And there are very few American feds with the exposure (yet) to get them noticed. The nation could be loaded with "hidden gems."

I have no problem with doing something like that, in fact I was going to make a bunch of future workers who are related to past stars.

To me the FWC was an NWA type umbrella like group of promotions. However, it would actually me more like the AWA in real life, in that it tried to challenge the WWF and failed due to raids and thus the promotion died out.

NACPW is a fed loaded with talented wrestlers who either have very low popularity or some flaw.

Ya Hatari is very talented but he's something like 6'5 and 160 lbs and easy to injure. :p

I was telling Hellshock, that I have an idea for a touring fed located in Australia. The upper card would be filled with former US-A wrestlers and the lower portion would be filled with locals. However, I have made 4000 promotions in this mod and I do not want to step on anyone elses toes.:D

At the same time whose toes are you stepping on? There isn't exactly too many people knocking down the door wanting to work on the data other then me. LOL

C-bot has the data but has been slowed down by moving back home now that the semester is over. The other actives Kobe and Fusionfreak have been churning out renders till finals week began and they obviously could use a break after that. LOL

Maybe after everyone in college rests up a little, the activity will pick back up to at least pre-finals levels. But until that happens I guess it's my toes. :D

I'm still around, although yeah I have been taking a bit of a break. :p

I know you're still here. :p

There are a handful of us here. Just seeing who answers the call. :D Especially the ones like rayelak who keep up with the progress even though they don't post much in here anymore.

I'm still around, but I got really into an SWF game in '08 and haven't really been working on this much at all. But I'm still checking in around here at least 3 times/week. Really, after filling up SHH and UK Lucha, I'm just gonna be coming up with the occasional Free Agent since I don't have tons of ideas.

Which reminds me; Scotland Hardcore, in most test runs so far, hits rock bottom pretty quick. Could be because of the presence of SAW and UK Lucha in the area.

Due to personal problems that I'd rather not discuss, I am pulling out of this project for the time being. I apologise.

I hope everything is all right WC and if you decide to come back we will be glad to have you back.

I'm still around as well, but mostly reading the post to stay up to speed. I havent purchased 2010 yet so I havent done any updates since before we converted the data.

Fullhouse glad to see that you are still around. If you still want to work on the mod in 08 by all means do so. Just send me your data when you are done and I will convert it. I took the World Wrestling Association out of the main data for the time being because it was empty and they were signing up everyone in American.:D

If you want to update the WWA in 08 with the wrestlers in the company and their contracts, just send me the data and I will convert it.

Sorry to hear this WC, I hope everything is ok.

This means Japan is wide open for new data. I already have one fed in place.

For those of you that don't know the layout of the Japanese areas.

And the Kokka No fed I created is located in Hokkaido.
