OMWF No Country For Old Men

June 2012

Jake's Bar, Owl Hill, Belgium

--

RG is backstage and bumps into Simon Ice.

RG: “Ice, just the man I wanted to see. Look, I’m changing your gimmick, effective immediately. You’re becoming a blue collar worker…everybody loves those.

SI : “Uhm….”

RG: “And I’m offering you a contract extension. You’re going to be hot stuff, man!

SI: “Well, it’s not like I have a lot of other stuff going on so….

RG: “So you’re staying.”

SI: “Looks like you got a deal.

RG: “Hey, you should be grateful! I mean, you can stay…I know someone who’s contract isn’t being extended.

SI: “Euhm….

RG: “Yep, that Russian guy…Antosha Golob….he’s on the outs.

SI: “What does that have to do with me?

RG: “It just shows you, Simon, you are one lucky guy.

RG pats a bewildered and confused Simon Ice on the back and leaves.

--

Alright, another few visitors here: 45 in fact, including a strange guy in a seemingly expensive suit.

I’m keeping Leigh Burton off the screen as I’m going to change his gimmick from the old Armed Forces to the sure-to-win Blue Chipper! In the meanwhile, Wade Orson as a heel should be entertaining, I hope. Also, no dark matches tonight because of our tight budget.

Jason Dempsey defeated Ronny de Veuster in 5:47 by pinfall with a Running Bulldog.

Nothing special as Dempsey dominated and squashed Ronny De Veuster. De Veuster hates him gimmick and has difficulty hiding it. Basic squash here. Next.

My time to come out. Jason Dempsey is on the stick with me and says his one and only ambition is to win the OMWF King of the Hill title and that he doesn’t care if he has to go through Svensson, Orson or Bedlam to get it.

Jon Michael Sharp defeated Bali Daljit in 8:05 by pinfall while using the ropes for leverage.

A nice little match in this feud. Daljit looks to have shaken off his ring rust and looks a solid but unspectacular performer. The finish comes with Daljit looking for his finisher while Sharp drops down and hits a cradle with his foot on the ropes. That doesn’t amuse Daljit though.

Wade Orson hits the ring, looking pretty smug.

RG: “Well, Wade, this is certainly a new attitude we’re seeing.

WO: “I’ve sick of waiting for the title. I want it now. And I’ll do anything to get it.

RG: “Well, Nigel Svensson certainly knows that now!

RG and WO share a handshake and some laughs. This makes Nigel Svensson come out.

NS: “Wade, I just want you to know. This. Is. Not. Over.”

And with that, Svensson walks to the back again while Orson looks pretty angry.

Non Title Match : Absolutely Flawless defeated German Rage © in 8:13 when Kelly Martin defeated Ralph Grimm by pinfall with a handful of tights.

Well, the Martins edge closer to the OMWF Tag Team Titles again as they defeat German Rage, be it narrowly. The Martins looked in control for most of the time but Gutschmitt hit Kelly with a chain, without the ref seeing it. Ref Feirn ordered Gutschmitt out of the ring but Lance Martin shifted the momentum and Kelly grabbed the tights as they got a close three count, to the surprise of the German champs.

Jake's Bar Special Match for the OMWF King of the Hill Title: Bedlam © defeated Mathias Koskinen in 8:28 by pinfall with a Bedlam Bomb. Bedlam makes defence number 11 of his OMWF King of the Hill Title title.

Crazy Koskinen, dressed like a medieval knight, gets a title shot here but it’s all Bedlam from the start. Bedlam tries overpowering the bigger Koskinen but switches to stiff kicks, punches and take-downs early on. Koskinen tries fighting back, hitting a powerslam but Bedlam immediately counters an Irish whip and attempted backdrop with a kick and slaps on the Mind Strangler, followed by the Bedlam Bomb for the pin.

Nigel Svensson defeated Wade Orson in 7:33 when Wade Orson was disqualified when Jason Dempsey ran in and attacked Nigel Svensson.

Svensson and Orson come out intense, Orson mouthing off Svensson. The match is a good and even one, both men hitting nice counters and power moves. Orson tries setting up the Bounce Back but Svensson gleefully slips out and slaps on the Hyper Extension Arm Lock. Orson cries and shouts, a signal for nemesis Jason Dempsey to run in and clock Svensson in the back. Ref Feirn calls for the DQ as Dempsey and Orson beat down Svensson.

No idea here

An E match from Bali was actually quite good on his standards and Sharp isn´t exactly great himself so good match there. Oh this one...well Dempsey is far more important so he wins.

I don´t see Flawless getting the belts back even though the tag division is quite shallow right now.

July 5th, 2012

Jake’s Bar, Owl Hill, Belgium

--

Jimmy enters the pub and runs up to owner RG.

Jimmy: “RG, here, take a look at this.”

Jimmy throws a copy of the European Wrestling Monthly magazine on the counter.

RG: “Okay, let’s see. Hugh De Aske is in there…so what.”

Jimmy: “Page 28

RG: “Okay….a big Pepsi add. Nice!

Jimmy: “No, below that one.”

RG: “Euhm….’Owl Mountain Wrestling Federation: a new federation on the horizon’. Wow! That’s about us! I mean…MY federation.

Jimmy: “Yep, you made …. Well, not the headlines but at least they’re mentioning you.

RG: “Let’s see what they have to say….”

RG glances through the article, his look becoming increasingly troublesome. Jimmy’s excitement makes way for worry…after reading it, RG slams the magazine on the counter.

RG: “They can’t write that about me! I’m going to sue them for everything they got! Calling our workers “mediocre by any standards”, our setting “pure amateurism” and our product “little better and probably worse than backyard”.

Jimmy: “Yeah, it’s not so good…”

RG: “Dirty m…”

Jimmy: “Relax, they’re comparing you to other feds that have more money, fans and prestige. But at least you get a mention! You’re on the rise man. That’s regional acknowledgement you’re getting!”

RG: “Hmmm….but that article is going to cost me popularity!”

Jimmy: “Just look at it as publicity. Any publicity is good publicity.”

RG: “That’s a **** saying, Jimmy!”

The door opens and a tall man, wearing a seemingly expensive suit, comes up to the bar. He puts his briefcase on one of the barstools.

Man: “Excuse me, can I speak to the owner of this place?”

RG: “Yeah, that’s me, sir. Can I help you with something? Things are a bit quiet tonight but we have our annual hobo night. All of the good folk that are normally here stay away then.

RG casts a look at Jimmy and shrugs his shoulders.

Man: “Euhm…I’m Jonathan Briggs, sales representative of InBev, the brewery concern. Are you the owner of that wrestling federation?

RG: “Indeed I am. Owner, creator and everything else.”

JB: “I was here last show, and it has come to our attention that you have quite an international personnel list and a few visitors. My company would like to offer you a sponsorship deal. This will mean you get a monthly fee, in exchange for hyping our products, placing adds and selling exclusively InBev beer during the shows.”

RG: “Now we’re a pub so I sell all kinds of beer….”

JB: “I’ve made it up in a contract right here…..”

RG takes a look at the contract.

RG: “ARE YOU SERIOUS? YOU’RE OFFERING ME….(cough cough)…I mean, that amount seems to be pretty okay, sir. I’ll gladly accept your deal.

JB: “Good. Sign right here. You can except someone next week to set up our stuff and install our equipment.

RG & JB share a handshake and JB quickly leaves the bar. As soon as the door closes, RG starts running around the bar, laughing evilly.

RG: “SUCKERS!!!”

Jimmy: “Who’s that?”

RG: “Someone who’s got money to spend!

RG can’t stop laughing…

OMWF Time of the Season

July 2012

Well, so we are officially a small fed now and we all need that a fed needs managers. I’ve signed the English Percy Usher-Soames as a heel manager and the French valet Marianne as a Valley Girl face manager. See if they can add some value to the federation. Bedlam, Sifu and Michael X have signed contract extension (Bedlam being a bargain at 200$ PPA).

40 people attending...but with all kinds of beer adds in place, this month looks to be a winner. Lucky me, as my money was almost gone. On with the show!

Mathias Koskinen defeated Giulio Costa in 7:49 by pinfall with a Crucifix Powerbomb

The show opens with a match between two of the bigger wrestlers in OMWF. Crazy Koskinen, coming out with a barb-wire folding chair (which is quickly confiscated by ref Neil Feirn). Koskinen dominates Costa with clubbing blows and kicks which Costa sells perfectly. Koskinen finishes it off easily with his trademark finisher.

Jason Dempsey defeated Bali Daljit in 7:45 by pinfall with a Running Bulldog. During the match we also had Jon Michael Sharp distract Daljit.

Well, Dempsey comes out looking strong in this match, easily beating Bali Daljit who only was on offense early on in the match but got distracted when Jon Michael Sharp came out and called him a few very naughty words from around ringside. That was enough for Dempsey to take control and keep control. The Running Bulldog finished things off for Daljit.

OMWF Tag Team Title Match: Absolutely Flawless drew with German Rage © in 7:44 following a double disqualification

Manager Marianne came out with the Martins but the pairing wasn’t a success. These two teams have an intense match for the title, with the Martins being in control and looking to take it to the Germans. Gutmann looked to counter but his trademark Sleeper was countered by a vicious jawbreaker by Lance Martin. Grimm sensed the danger and hit the ring, as did Kelly and a pier 6 brawl erupted. Ref Feirn rang for the bell and called it a double DQ.

Top Contender Match: Wade Orson defeated Sifu in 7:43 by pinfall with a Bounce Back following botched interference by Nigel Svensson

An interesting match here. Sifu and Orson looked pretty even but Orson’s new found attitude and determination saw this one home for him. A see-saw match saw Orson in control at the end but Nigel Svensson ran out and tried to distract Orson. Svensson went on the apron but Orson sensed something and whipped Sifu face first into Svensson. He quickly hit the Bounce Back to get the pin and win the match. Svensson and Orson stare eachother down after the match.

Jake’s Bar Special Match for the OMWF King of the Hill Title: Bedlam © defeated Nigel Svensson in 12:24 by pinfall with a Bedlam Bomb following interference from Wade Orson. Bedlam makes defence number 12 of his OMWF King of the Hill Title title

Svensson gave it his all as usual in this match and Bedlam, for the first time, looked in danger of losing his title. Bedlam started strongly, whipping Svensson around the place but Svensson countered with an armbar takedown, right on a chair that caused Bedlam to be shaking him arm in pain for the rest of the match. Svensson hit a couple of shots to the arm, looking to slap on the Hyper Externsion Arm Lock. As he set up for it, Orson blindsided him out of nowhere and broke a bottle on his head. Bedlam recovered and hit the Bedlam Bomb to retain his title as the Svensson vs. Orson feud continues to simmer.

Early September, 2012

Jake’s Bar, Owl Hill, Belgium

--

Jimmy enters the bar which is a bit busier than usual. RG is tending, as usual, but has a smile on his face.

RG: “Hey Jimmy, old friend. Here, have one on the house!”

Jimmy: “On the house?”

RG: “Yep. Free of charge.

Jimmy: “Did you win the lottery or anything?”

RG: “Not a lottery. It’s called a sponsorship. Hey, these InBev guys are paying me a good amount just for the advertisements in these wrestling events.”

Jimmy: “So you can suddenly afford to give away free drinks?”

RG: “Well, there’s a small matter of repaying a loan….or two….with the bank but things look to be going well.”

Jimmy throws the edition of the European Wrestling Monthly on the bar.

Jimmy: “Well, these guys still think your fed stinks.”

RG: “That’ll change Jimmy. Listen up, I got big changes lined up for the next show.

Jimmy: “You have?”

RG: “Okay, small changes. Did you see those managers? It wasn’t great…yet! But, I’m going to put Marianne to manage Dutch Domination and get that Englishman paired with Koskinen.

Jimmy: “A madman paired with an English gentleman?”

RG: “Pretty terrific, hey. And I’ve got another new name coming in: Martin Heath. He’s got some tag experience with Sharp so they might spice things up in the tag division.”

Jimmy: “That seems a good idea.”

RG: “I know. And there’s another newcomer coming in: Maxwell Bleak. See if he can do something. And I’m also giving Nigel Svensson a new gimmick: he’s the working man, working hard for his land, the fans, the TITLE!”

Jimmy: “RG, slow down. You’re going to give yourself a heart attack.”

RG: “Oh yeah!”

Jimmy shakes his head and drink his beer.

Well, the crowd doesn’t like the Dutch and they don’t like Bleak either it seems. Actually, Bleak gets one of the worst reactions in a long time. Marianne and the Dutch, Ronny De Veuster in particular, make a nice pairing though. The Dutch win against the openers in a poor match.

During the match we also had Bali Daljit run in and attack Sharp. German Rage make defence number 6 of their OMWF Tag Team Titles titles

Well, Sharp & Heath make their debut as a tag team but they didn’t last long. Daljit ran in from the back and brawled with Sharp on the aisle way. Martin Heath, looking a bit rusty, then fell for the Flawless Driver, turning this into another match-up between the Rage and the Martins. Nigel Svensson introduced his new gimmick, though the crowd hardly noticed. A solid match, as most of Svensson’s matches are, with Sifu also looking good. A see-saw match and the only difference was the outside interference, pretty sneaky, on Svensson which saw Svensson get hit in the back and Sifu slapping on the Choke Sleeper in the middle of the ring. Manager Usher-Soames added little to this one....

Wade Orson walks to the back, looking pretty smug but he gets jumped and attacked by a recovered Svensson. Svensson hits him in the back with a pool cue and throws him around the locker room, Orson grabs a steel bar and goes after Svensson. Other workers come out and separate the two.

Fun stuff!

Top Contender Match: Leigh Burton defeated Jason Dempsey in 7:45 by pinfall with a Belly To Belly Suplex.

Well, Leigh Burton has thrown away his armed forces outfit and now goes for the Blue Chipper gimmick, just as Dempsey’s character seems to have grown stale. Jason Dempsey, coming off a good winning streak, seems intent on winning this but overplays his hand and lets Burton into the match. Dempsey in the end looks to put away Burton but Burton counters with the Belly-to-Belly and picks up an important win!

OMWF Cage Match for the OMWF King of the Hill Title: Bedlam © defeated Wade Orson in a Cage Classic match in 9:57 by pinfall with a Bedlam Bomb after a distraction from Nigel Svensson. Bedlam makes defence number 13 of his OMWF King of the Hill Title title

Orson comes out with a bruised eye and still looks to be fuming. Bedlam seems all cold and focused here. Bedlam gets the early advantage, throwing Orson in the steel cage and drawing some blood. Orson counters though with a big jawbreaker and starts taking things to Bedlam. Nigel Svensson comes out during the middle of the match and starts jawing at Orson. Orson tries to grab Svensson through the cage bars but misses. Bedlam recovers, hits a mean piledriver and finishes off a distracted Orson with the Bedlam Bomb for another win! Who can stop him?
