January 2012

Jake’s Bar, Owl Hill, Belgium

RG is sitting in his office, looking through a bunch of contracts. He grabs the phone.

JD: “Jason Dempsey speaking.”

RG: “Hey, Jason. RG here. Your contract’s up for renewal. Are you extending it for the same price? Another 9 months, 150$ a show…I’ll make up the contract and mail it to you.”

JD: “I think I deserve a bit more than that. I’ve been headlining your show consistently over the last years. I think I should get 600$ a show.”

RG: “SIX??!”

JD: “Sounds fair to me.”

RG: “Let me think about that for a month, Jason. Business is pretty slow during the winter.”

JD: “You know I deserve it, RG.”

RG: “I’ll get back to you. Got to go…uhm….my dog…is…uhm….”

JD: “You don’t have a dog…

RG quickly hangs up the phone.

He kicks his table.

RG: “Stupid *******ing ***** idiot! That’s number three who wants more money, after Grimm and Leve.”

RG sighs.“Lucky I signed this Bali Daljit guy for peanuts”, he mutters to himself. “ He picks up the phone again.

AK: “Knyazev

RG: “Aleksander. RG here. Look, this is the hardest moment of my life but you know, some loan sharks threatened me the other night and he said he’d kill me if I renewed your contract. My wife and 4 kids would starve to death. So, I regret to inform you I can’t extend your contract. Sorry. I understand you need to find other employment so, as a gesture of good will, I won’t be booking you on the next show. Thanks a lot, mate. Goodbye.”

RG quickly hangs up the phone. “Okay, same story for Darius Hughes now. Even if I haven’t seen him in ages.

OMWF Blood On The Tracks

January 2012

The first show of the year sees 23 paying attendents. RG shrugs his head about this, more worried about upcoming contract negotiations.

Dark Match: Dutch Domination defeated Bali Daljit and Michael X in 7:42 when Ronny de Veuster defeated Bali Daljit by pinfall with a Drop The Dutch Dime.

Bali Daljit debuts with an underdog gimmick. He was a bit rusty but could make a nice addition to the roster. The Dutch are gradually improving and gelling as a team and pick up the pinfall victory. A nothing special match but not bad. The Dutchies hate me for their new Comical Hero gimmicks though.

Jon Michael Sharp defeated Gordon Leve in 8:09 by pinfall with a Flying Cross Body.

JM Sharp picks up the win in a poorish opening match. No real flow in this one. Sharp pulls off a minor upset here, countering an attempted suplex into a jawbreaker and quickly hitting the Flying Cross Body. "Rumours about Leve having to job for asking too much money for a contract extension are unfounded...right?", someone asked backstage.

OMWF Tag Team Title Match: Absolutely Flawless defeated German Rage © in 8:05 when Irwin Gutmann was disqualified while fighting Lance Martin.

The Flawless Ones come off strong in this rematch for the titles. After an energetic start, Gutmann took control to wear down Kelly Martin.Lance came in to break up the Dragon Sleeper that Gutmann applied and after a missed backdrop, Kelly Marin hits a hot tag to his brother. Lance Martin cleans house and looks to hit a backsuplex on Irwin Gutmann, but Ralph Grimm hits him in the back with a chair. Kelly comes in and the match ends in a DQ win and a wild brawl. Could we see a turn of the Martins into faces soon?

Wade Orson is backstage with RG. Orson begs RG for a last title shot against Bedlam. RG is hesitant, saying Orson had his chance. Bedlam comes out and says Orson will have 10 minutes to beat him, ... if he can. Orson accepts with a big smile.

Mathias Koskinen defeated Leigh Burton in 7:34 by count out.

Koskinen comes to the ring, dressed as Santa Claus, but without a fake beard and wig. A short, intense and more than decent match-up, with referee Neil Feirn taking a bump and Koskinen throwing Burton over the top rope into the guard rail. Burton is phased and can’t make the ten count while Koskinen paces around in the ring and smacks his head on a turnbuckle.

Submission Match: Nigel Svensson defeated Jason Dempsey in 10:20 by submission with a Hyper Extension Arm Lock.

The feud between these two continues in another intense match. Dempsey getting the better in the hardcore match, this time it’s Svensson’s turn. Dempsey has his share of the offensive but the lack of a real submission finisher cost him. Svensson hit a sweet rally in the end, slapped on the Hyper Extension Arm Lock and Dempsey had no choice but to give up. A decent match, though Dempsey looked out of sorts in this kind of match.

10 Minute Time Limit match for the OMWF King of the Hill Title: Bedlam © drew with Wade Orson in 10:00 when the time limit expired.

A short and intense match-up, at the request of Wade Orson. Orson started out from the word “go” and hit Bedlam with lariats and suplexes from the start. Bedlam was shaken, but gained momentum in the middle of the match. Bedlam went for the win but Orson countered the Mind Strangler with a slingshot into the turnbuckle. Orson tried to hit the Bounce Back but failed. The end comes with Orson on the offensive but the bell rings, with Orson shouting “NO! NO!” at the referee in disappointment.

RG is tending the bar when the phone rings.

RG: “Jake’s Bar, RG here.”

GL: “Sir, it’s Gordon here.”

RG: “Chief Commisionner Gordon of Gotham City?

GL: “No, …..”

RG: “Flash Gordon?

GL: "No..."

RG: "Gordon Lightfoot?"

GL: “No, Gordon Leve.

RG: “Right…I knew that. What’s on your mind?”

GL: “Sir, I’m just calling to let you know I won’t be extending my contract. I think there are other places to go and make money. No offense, I had a good time here.

RG: “Hmmm…what are you trying to say?

GL: “I’m leaving your fed.”

RG: “What? Why?”

GL: “Look, I just told you.”

RG: “Did you find some diamonds? Going to fight in Israel? Or what?

GL: “But….”

RG: “I get it. I get it. See you later Gorman!”

GL: “I want to thank…..”

RG hangs up the phone. Jimmy, present as ever, stares at him.

Jimmy: “Who was that?”

RG: “Gordon Leve. He quit the fed.”

Jimmy: “Ouch. You upset?”

RG (mumbling): “Greedy, backstabbing Jew.”

Jimmy: “Guess you are….”

RG: “Hmmm….one look at my bank account without the wage of Leve on it will make me happier;”

Jimmy: “He that expensive?”

RG: “Let’s see that Dempsey and Grimm could be persuaded to work for less. Leve couldn’t.”

Jimmy: “I see….”

Did you know that....

Gordon Leve wrestled 25 matches for OMWF? He was on the roster from the start, won 17, drew 1 and lost 7 matches. He didn't hold any titles. He continues to be a member of the Ultimate European Wrestling roster in 2012.

OMWF owner RG said: "Well, Leve's not the greatest wrestler but he's reliable. And you can rely on him to ask for plenty of money after a couple of years, the ...." (interview cut short en censored).

Dark Match: Antosha Golob defeated Bali Daljit in 7:44 by pinfall with a Reverse Russian Legsweep.

A poor dark match. Golob seems talented but can’t hold his nerves once he’s in the ring and once again looked poor. Daljit seems better but still needs to wear off the ring rust. Golob wins, but did he deserve it?

Dark Match: Jon Michael Sharp defeated Simon Ice in 8:10 by pinfall with a Cat's Cradle.

Not a particular good match, even if Simon Ice didn’t make any botches this time. Sharp is the clear winner here in a outing that’s meant to keep both in shape.

Jason Dempsey defeated Michael X in 7:46 by pinfall while using the ropes for leverage. During the match we also had Nigel Svensson run in and attack Dempsey.

An interesting match-up here. Dempsey came out, looking very confident but Michael X gave him a good run for his money. X started off confidently and took the brawling right to Dempsey till Dempsey countered with a facebuster and some submission moves. Dempsey looked set to finish off Michael X but Nigel Svensson ran out and threatened to enter the ring. Dempsey immediately shifted his attention to Svensson, allowing Michael X to hit him with a small package but Dempsey, cleverly, reversed it into a pin with his foot on the ropes for leverage. Dempsey stared at Svensson after the match.

OMWF Tag Team Title Match: German Rage © defeated Dutch Domination in 8:29 when Irwin Gutmann defeated Ronny de Veuster by submission with a Tiger Sleeper. German Rage make defence number 1 of their OMWF Tag Team Titles titles.

A very solid and brutal outing for the tag team champions who took the confident Dutch duo for a very painful ride. A brutal beating for both Hardwicke and De Veuster throughout the match, Grimm hitting the Grimm Reaper on De Veuster before breaking up the pinfall and tagging Gutmann to mercilessly slap on the Tiger Sleeper. An easy win….but it didn’t end there……

As German Rage take their belts, they turn to their opponents and continue to administer a vicious beating. Until…Lance and Kelly Martin run in and counter the attack of Grimm and Gutmann. The Martins are able to throw German Rage out of the ring and stand proudly in the ring…

That’s a pretty solid face turn to "fan favourites" for the Martins, even if it is out of the blue….

Mathias Koskinen comes out, dressed in the same Santa suit as last time. Burton seems focussed and ready to go and takes the fight to Koskinen throughout the match. Koskinen tries some power moves but Burton counters them all. Until Koskinen just grabs Burton by the throat and keeps choking him……and choking him…..till Neil Feirn calls the DQ. Wade Orson defeated Sifu in 8:04 by pinfall with a Bounce Back.

A very solid match between these two. Good flow and good timing and the crowd even got into this. Orson, being a bit of the underdog after losing some title matches against Bedlam, really rallied himself against the methodical and stiff-hitting Sifu. But he was the clear winner in the end, hitting the Bounce Back for a clean pinfall win which he celebrated exuberantly

Submission Match for the OMWF King of the Hill Title: Bedlam © defeated Nigel Svensson in 10:08 by submission with a Mind Strangler after interference from Jason Dempsey. Bedlam makes defence number 7 of his OMWF King of the Hill Title title.

Svensson has a shot at regaining the title he lost to Bedlam here and starts off strong but Bedlam remains cool and collected. Dempsey comes out and takes a seat into the crowd, signalling ref Feirn he isn’t going to do anything. The distraction allows Bedlam to take control of the match. Bedlam wears Svensson down, but Svensson sees a chance to counter with a big suplex. An Irish whip sees ref Feirn taking a bump into Bedlam, both going out. Dempsey then blindsides Svensson and nails him with a chair. Bedlam, still prone but like a hurt animal, slaps on the Mind Strangles…Feirn lifts Svensson’s arm but he’s out cold. Dempsey goes to the back, smirking…

A good match, but Bedlam struggles a bit technically....

OMWF There Will Be Blood

March 2012

Jake's Bar, Owl Hill, Belgium

RG is tending the bar when a big noise occurs backstage, followed by a lot of shouting and cursing. RG rushes backstage and bumps into road agent Cephalus Nikopolidis.

RG: “Where is he?

CN: “Who?”

RG: “Snowman! Snowman’s back? What’s this noise….and this smell?

CN: “I think it’s Gutmann.”

RG: “Man, that smells like diapers, cooked in green onions

CN: “I think he farted.”

RG: “Jezus! Gutmann, have Du ein Fart done?

Irwin Gutmann just keeps on laughing.

RG: “Try not to eat beans next time! Aargh….

IG: “Ach Mann….”

RG: “Man, I’m out of here. Open the windows, Cephi! By the way, who’s this guy with the greasy hair and the big nose on that drawing?

CN: “I think that’s you?

RG: “Who did that?

CN: “Jon Michael Sharp. The guy has some drawing talent.”

RG: “More than wrestling, I think”…

Svensson and Dempsey tear into eachother right away, hardly laying a hand on Orson. Orson looks set and determined and stays out of the action for the most time. Another solid title defence by Bedlam. Burton goes into things, guns blazing but after a short initial bout of hard punches and kicks, Bedlam seizes the initiative and lays a brutal beating on Burton, throwing Burton around the bar like a rag doll. LB: “Yeah, you got a deal.”

RG: “Great. Great. By the way, I signed up a new Italian worker as well, called Guilio Costa.

LB: “Never heard of him. His name sounds Spanish I think.”

RG: “He’s Italian. He’s from Barcelona.

LB: “Barcelona is Spanish.”

RG: “No, it isn’t. See you later, Leigh.

RG hangs up the phone. “Stupid Burton….Barcolona in Spain. What’s next? What is it with these kids these days?

Showtime...47 people attending and a really relaxed and positive atmosphere from this tiny bitsy amount of wrestling fans. Only one sign though: "I want to go to Bed-lam". I don't get it.

Dark Match: Absolutely Flawless defeated Michael X and Giulio Costa in 7:40 when Lance Martin defeated Giulio Costa by pinfall with a Flawless Driver

A more than decent dark match between the Martins and Michael X, teaming with the debuting Giulio Costa, who has an “Italian” face gimmick. Costa & X bump around for the Martins who pick up a flawless victory. Costa seems to be delighted to have wrestled a match here.

A poor match here. JM Sharp needs a change of gimmick and Golob once again looked sloppy and disorganised. Sharp wins it. Next.

Bali Daljit defeated Mathias Koskinen in 8:16 by disqualification.

Crazy Koskinen comes out, dressed in a knight’s suit. Daljit just starts laughing at him, causing Koskinen to go berserk. Koskinen dominates with a bunch of power moves till Daljit counters with a backdrop to the outside. Koskinen is down for a moment, then re-enters the ring with his steeel shield and whallops Daljit in the kisser, drawing the dq.

OMWF Tag Team Title Match: German Rage © defeated Dutch Domination in 8:24 when Ralph Grimm defeated Armand Hardwicke by pinfall with a No Way Out. German Rage make defence number 3 of their OMWF Tag Team Titles titles

The Dutch, after some wins in dark matches, get another shot but are quickly shot down by the efficient Germans. After a brief rally at the start, it’s all Gutmann and Grimm and the pin is academic. The crowd still doesn't dig the Dutch, despite their face gimmicks (which they both hate me for).

Leigh Burton defeated Sifu in 7:19 by pinfall with a Back Suplex.

A solid outing for Leigh Burton who is getting a better push in the future. Burton dominates Sifu who got very little offence in and finishes things with his trademark finisher. I might need to change his gimmick: that armed forces costume looks ready to fall apart.

Last Man Standing Match: Jason Dempsey defeated Nigel Svensson in 10:04 when Nigel Svensson could not beat a ten count following a Running Bulldog after interference from Wade Orson.

Nigel Svensson and Jason Dempsey start a brutal fight, going all out. Both end up busted open fairly soon. Dempsey hits a big big powerslam on Svensson and keeps kicking him afterwards. Svensson rallies and slaps on the Hyper Extension Arm Lock. Dempsey starts waving his arms, signalling someone to come out. Wade Orson runs in from backstage and clocks Svensson with a steel pipe. Svensson is down and out for the count as Dempsey pats Orson on the back and gives him the thumbs up. Orson goes to the back and Dempsey spits on the prone Svensson. That was good.

Ladder Match for the OMWF King of the Hill Title: Bedlam © defeated Wade Orson in a Ladder match in 8:05 when Bedlam retrieved the item. During the match we also had Nigel Svensson distract W. Orson. Bedlam makes defence number 9 of his OMWF King of the Hill Title title

Bedlam starts out strong, hitting Orson with a big haymaker and a couple of suplexes. Bedlam makes the mistake of taking too long to set the ladder up and Orson hits him from behind with a couple of suplexes as well. Bedlam regains control with a vicious low blow and starts climbing the ladder. Orson recovers and tilts over the ladder, Bedlam taking a bump to the outside. As Orson sets up the chair, Svensson comes out from the back, asking what his interference was about last time. Orson holds up his shoulders and mutters a few things to Svensson. Bedlam sneaks up from behind and slaps on the Mind Stangler. Orson passes out and Bedlam retrieves his title belt! Excellent match to end the show, the best match so far!
