Universal Wrestling Alliance (0/0/0 Watcher)

Recommended Posts

<p>I love 0/0/0 games, and I love Watcher games, so I thought I’d do both. In this case the 0/0/0 is momentum, prestige, popularity as I'm giving the fed some significant funds to ensure they're usually in a position to run shows. </p><p> </p><p>

This will be a watcher C-Verse diary with a particular focus on the Universal Wrestling Alliance, which is a brand new fed based in the Tri-State area which opens in January 2010. </p><p> </p><p>

I’ve given the UWA $25 million, three titles, and nothing else. </p><p> </p><p>

As far as the product, they are a traditional, mainstream fed. </p><p> </p><p>

I like to take a long view of things (and will probably only do yearly updates on the greater wrestling world); for the time being I’m going to start with monthly UWA updates. These updates from time-to-time will also include major matches in other feds involving talent simultaneously contracted to the UWA. </p><p> </p><p>

If something of “significance” happens in the C-Verse I’ll report it as it happens rather than waiting for the end of the year. Major titles changes, major workers leaving or signing, feds opening or closing, new workers, workers under contract to the UWA making news elsewhere, etc., will be reported as it happens. </p><p> </p><p>

Once I get to the year end/yearly awards and there’s enough history to spin some details together into a story I’ll be happy to pause a bit and report on a particular wrestler or fed if anyone has any requests.</p><p> </p><p>

<a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showpost.php?p=968129&postcount=2" rel="external nofollow">Post #2 (UWA History)</a> is going to be updated fairly frequently, especially stats like fed momentum, so you can see the effects of major events. <a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showpost.php?p=968132&postcount=3" rel="external nofollow">Post #3</a> the Wrestling World Update portion will be updated very briefly as the months progress, with bigger updates at the in-game end of year. </p><p> </p><p>

February: In February, TCW signed a deal with America-Sports-1 to revive TCW Saturday Night Showcase next season, while WLW announced a new show to debut on All Japan TV called WLW Path of Destruction. The great Mephisto also left the wrestling business in February. Donte Dunn, Richie Riggins, Fuyuko Higa, and Omezo Shikitei all entered the wrestling world.

March: Another golden era Mexican superstar - Alfredo Menendez - left the wrestling business. Jared Johnson, Sabra Man Jr., Nighthawk, Dwayne Dark, Ricky Storm, War Machine, Joe Simpson, Leigh Burton, Mighty Mo, and Hijo Del Aguila all entered the wrestling world.

April: Canadian legend Jackson Andrews left the wrestling business. Solid Japanese worker Angel Takudome retired from active competition and announced that she would remain in the industry as a manager. Syd Collier, Mustang Blanco, and Amazing Fire Fly all entered the wrestling world.

May: Legendary Haruki Kudo retired from active competition and announced he is opening his own Dojo, called School of Kudo. Fumihiro Hoshino, Grant Taypen, Richie Fox, Toju Munkata, Bobbie Dylan, and Wade Orson all entered the wrestling world. New promotion EXODUS 2010 officially opened in Tohoku, Japan, founded by Naoya Ashikaga. Ashikaga announced Sensational Ogiwara as the promotion's Head Booker. Dan Stone Jr. inherited ownership of NOTBPW and named Larry Wood as his new Head Booker. Jeremy Stone defeated Johnny Bloodstone in a Match of the Year candidate on NOTBPW Championship Wrestling (Rated 99).

June: Haruki Kudo was enshrined into the Hall of Immortals. Helen Bach and Elijah Harris retired from active competition. Dan Stone announced that he was officially leaving the wrestling business. Matsu Kinosheeta, Mark Griffin, Kamikaze Christian Vars, and El Serpiente entered the world of wrestling. BHOTWG had an excellent month, highlighted by a series of fantastic matches between BHOTWG King of Fighters titleholder Tadiyuki Kikkawa, and challenger Black Cobra. In the three contests (rated 99, 95 & 94), Kikkawa came out on top as the two became the headliners of BHOTWG Full Force Tour.

July: FCW's Rudy Velasquez was involved in a minor incident with police early in the month; no charges were filed. Two more Japanese women retired from active wrestling as Junko Hayakawa and Namiyo Muro both called it quits this month. PGHW's Flemmy Lemming will be out for a year with a torn rotator cuff. Devestating Don, Hypnotiq Jr., Armando Guerrero, Cameron Jones, and Spencer Spade all joined the active ranks. NOTBPW went national and stole a couple of key figures away from rivals, bringing in Philippe LaGrenier (CGC), Joey Poison (CGC), and Davis Wayne Newton (4C), in addition to the likes of Tamara McFly (BSC), Jerome Turner (ex-CGC), Eric Tyler, and Art Lawson in a modern day spending spree. TCW, WLW, and SOTBPW all staged above average shows, and PGHW's Wrathchild Tour headlined the month with two 96-rated matches between Eisaku Kunomasu and Kozue Kawashima.

August: In a story that has people wondering about his erratic behavior, Jack DeColt walked out on his position as Head Trainer of the DeColt Power House and then announced that he was letting his CGC contract expire altogether. DeColt is now unemployed. Despite all the negative publicity stirred by Jack's departure, CGC went national and turned the wrestling world on its head by announcing the signing of Sean McFly on an exclusive, written contract. They also brought in Donte Dunn, Jared Johnson, Jamie Atherton, Mimic, Grant Truman, El Diablo, Mitch Naess, Russell Eicke and Mario da Silva to bolster the roster. In response, NOTBPW announced that they had reached a deal with Canada On-Air to debut a new show called NOTBPW On TV! to debut next season. Nene Ebina retired from active wrestling, and Preston Holt announced that he was leaving the wrestling business to enjoy his golden years. Morgan Malone, Buzz Reid, Remmy Honeyman, and Mashashi Urogataya all joined the wrestling business. A backstage brawl between Suzanne Brazzle and Catherine Quine at AAA Girls Night Out 2010 (rated 75) was a You Tube sensation.

September: One half of the SWF World Tag Team Champions Jack Giedroyc announced he was taking a leave of absence from competition to film a major motion picture. TCW rose to global, and to coincide with that announcement Buddy Garner returned to the wrestling business after a hiatus and signed an exclusive deal with them. TCW also pulled Jack Griffith away from NYCW & RIPW and Acid away from WLW, PGHW, and CZCW with exclusive contracts and look poised for a few more signings. Lee Bennett, Junnosuke Fukazawa, and Nikki Power all retired from active competition, while Whipper Spencer Marks left the wrestling business at the age of 72. Frankie-Boy Fernandes, Skip Beau, Black Flash, KC Glen, and Liz Sweetheart all joined the professional wrestling ranks.

1st January 2010

At the turn of the year in 2010 when a lot of people were feeling apathetic about the pro wrestling industry, a number of semi-credible rumors began to fly in the wrestling community about a new fed about to launch in the Tri-State area of the United States that had a ton of resources available to them. The startup group was reportedly planning to go with a non-offensive, mainstream/traditional product to suck in a big audience and spark a new “old school” wrestling renaissance. No one knew what was about to transpire…

23rd January, 2010 - Ota Takes Control

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/gratefulcowboy/uwa/FumihiroOta.jpg

After weeks of online speculation, Fumihiro Ota officially announced the founding of the Universal Wrestling Alliance at a press conference at the Four Seasons Hotel on West 57th Street in Manhattan, NYC. The conference drew considerable attention from the wrestling media due to the unusually plush surroundings and the free, top-notch buffet providing all manner of fare.

In an awkward interview done while wearing his ninja costume, Ota revealed that he considers himself an American because he grew up and completed all of his schooling in California. He said that it was always his dream to open a wrestling federation, and that he wanted to try his new fed in the Tri-State area because of the considerable challenge.

But, confusingly, Ota also said that just because his headquarters would be in New York City didn’t necessarily mean that he intended to hold UWA shows in the Tri-State area. That comment raised some eyebrows, and many remain skeptical that the 35-year old will be able to do anything worthwhile while leading an entire promotion. After some grumbling, Ota clapped his hands and servants brought a fresh round of delicious sweet-potato gaufrettes with duck confit and cranberry black pepper chutney and all was forgotten.

Ota, a lightweight wrestler, is best known for his time with Total Championship Wrestling where he won the Cruiserweight title five times, and the tag title three times (with Kazuma Narato as The Tokyo Express). He has apparently tapped into his family’s vast fortune to launch the UWA. Ota made the whole conference about him and invited those in attendance to stay after the formalities and party with him, and although any questions about who might be the Head Booker were outright ignored, at the end of the day people thought that former DAVE superstar Eric Tyler, who was in attendance, was going to be the man.

27th January, 2010 - Kashmir Singh Named UWA Head Booker

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/gratefulcowboy/uwa/KashmirSingh_alt1.jpg

Despite rumors to the contrary, UWA owner Fumihiro Ota revealed through an e-press release to the wrestling community that his first act in control of the UWA was to hire former FCW People's Championship holder Kashmir Singh. The 32-year old lightweight Singh will be the UWA's Head Booker, and will also compete as an active wrestler under his The Sensational Singh persona.

Ota's release stated that even though Singh remains under contract with FCW in a PPA deal, he is assured that Singh will be extremely focused on building a competitive, thriving fed in his new role with the UWA.

Ota and Singh plan to have the UWA's initial roster in place by the beginning of February.

1st February, 2010 – Ota & Singh Announce Inaugural UWA Roster

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/gratefulcowboy/uwa/uwa2.jpg

This morning, Universal Wrestling Alliance owner Fumihiro Ota and Head Booker Kashmir Singh released a joint statement to reveal the initial UWA roster.

Shrewdly, the first name on the list was that of NYCW owner The Stomper. Stomper, feeling threatened by the millions upon millions of dollars available to Ota, reached out and contacted Ota and offered his services as a Road Agent and mentor on the ownership side of the business as long as Ota agreed not to run shows in the Tri-State area. Ota agreed, and the 60-year old Stomper known for his slow-paced, traditional style signed a PPA deal to be the UWA’s first Road Agent.

Next Ota tapped long-time Angel Athletic Association announcer Jim Lou Freebush, 34, to be the main UWA announcer. Freebush didn’t think there’d be any conflict with his AAA duties and happily signed on.

Singh seemed to play a major role in the hiring of Sid “Doc” Messing, 33, as the UWA’s colour commentator. Immediately upon hiring Messing strangely stated that he hates commuting, and was hoping he wouldn’t have to be making many regular trips to the east coast from his main gig with PSW.

Ota’s friend from the west coast scene and TCW, Eugene Williams, 44, signed on to be the UWA’s first referee.

And 39-year old Brains McGhee signed on as a manager, in addition to performing similar duties for WEXXV.

The rest of the roster, excluding Ota & Singh themselves, shaped up like this:

Remmy Skye, 25, lightweight – The former Coastal Zone Champion and current CZCW superstar agreed to a PPA deal with the UWA for what is rumored to be a big contract in terms of dollars and perks. He appears to have no loyalties to Ota or the UWA and he has made no bones that this is nothing more than a temporary money-making venture for him until something better comes along.

Frankie Perez, 25, lightweight – Also presently under contract to CZCW, Perez was a former Coastal Zone Tag Team Champion with Mikey James as half of The Cali Dragons. Perez figures to get a singles push in the UWA.

Bradford Peverell, 25, light heavyweight – Peverell is an acquaintance of Singh’s and works with him in FCW.

Kirk Jameson, 23, middleweight – Another borrowed worker from FCW, he’s probably best known for his work there in a tag team with Mainstream Hernandez.

Matthew Keith, 20, middleweight – The son of the legendary Sam Keith keeps being told by his handlers that doing some time in obscure feds will help his credibility factor when he eventually joins TCW – fans will think he’s not as spoiled as he really is. So here he is, fresh off dropping the PSW National title to Tank Bradley at PSW Cold Day In Hell at the end of January.

Steven Parker, 25, middleweight – Parker, also under contract to PSW, is a former two-time PSW National Champion.

Ash Campbell, 21, lightweight – Yet another former PSW National Champion, the son of John “Nemesis” Campbell looks to have a bright future in the UWA. He may reprise his PSW Next Gen tag team with Matthew Keith.

Dazzling Dave Diamond, 31, light heavyweight – As part of Fumihiro Ota’s arrangement with The Stomper, the former NYCW Tri-State Regional Champion Dave Diamond agreed to appear for both feds. Ota considers Diamond to be a reliable worker and might make Dave an early cornerstone of the UWA.

Rhino Umaga, 31, heavyweight – Speaking of bad commutes, Umaga is also on a PPA deal with GCG.

Hollywood Bret Starr, 19, middleweight – The regular tag partner of Jay Chord in MAW, Starr looks like a long-term project with good potential. Will likely form some sort of group with Campbell and Keith.

2nd February, 2010 – UWA Kings of Spandex Announced

Fumihiro Ota sent more shockwaves through the wrestling community by posting the lineup for the first ever Universal Wrestling Alliance card, UWA Kings of Spandex, on the UWA’s official website. Due to Ota’s agreement with The Stomper, the card is scheduled to be held at Hunter’s Town Hall in the Mid West region on the 21st of February.

Despite the good momentum gained by the announcement of the initial UWA roster, the fact that the Garden State Championship, a title presumably based on the Garden State of New Jersey, will be fought for in the Mid West is garnering some fairly harsh criticism on blogs, podcasts, and wrestling sites. Ota also came under serious fire for apparently not booking himself on the show. Here’s the lineup:

UWA Kings of Spandex Results

21st February, 2010

Hunter’s Town Hall, Mid West

Attendance: 28

Overall Score: 52

Kirk Jameson vs. Bradford Peverell

-Bradford Peverell made history by winning the first ever match in UWA history. It was a pretty close bout for much of the contest but in the end Peverell had enough to outlast Jameson. 42

Dazzling Dave Diamond vs. Hollywood Bret Starr

-In a surprising result, Dazzling Dave Diamond dominated Hollywood Bret Starr before pinning him in a quick squash match. 36

The Sensational Singh vs. Ash Campbell

UWA Garden State Championship

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/gratefulcowboy/uwa/UWAGardenState.jpg

-Prior to the match, referee Eugene Williams and Road Agent The Stomper came out and held a brief ceremony to honor the great state of New Jersey, and raised the state flag in the center of the ring to some decent heat from the Midwestern crowd. When the match started, though, there weren’t many surprises as Head Booker The Sensational Singh became the inaugural UWA Garden State Champion with a well-fought victory over Ash Campbell. Singh and Campbell shook hands after the match as a sign of mutual respect. 42

Steven Parker vs. Frankie Perez

-Frankie Perez came down to ringside and paused several times to have exchanges with the crowd along the way, shouting to the booing audience that since he, Perez, was wrestling this was the Co-Main Event (even though the match wasn’t officially being billed as such). Parker, already in the ring, tried to stay focused on the matters at hand but he clearly looked like he was getting more and more uncomfortable the longer he had to wait. Parker was never able to get into a rhythm in the ring thanks to showboating from Perez. Perez went on to an easy victory and Parker looked bewildered afterwards. 51

Matthew Keith vs. Remmy Skye

UWA World Heavyweight Championship

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/gratefulcowboy/uwa/UWAWorldHeavy.jpg

-Matthew Keith seemed to be overwhelmed by the moment and was completely incapable of mounting a sustained attack against Remmy Skye. Skye put on a nice display of flashy moves in smooth combination and was deemed a worthy winner. His victory to become the first ever UWA World Heavyweight Champion went down as the best match of the night, largely to Skye's efforts. 54

1st March, 2010 - UWA Forever Announced

UWA owner Fumihiro Ota said in an online interview that in order to capitalize on the success of UWA Kings of Spandex, the next UWA event would take place during the first week of March, back at Hunter's Town Hall in the Mid West. Ota went on to say that he figures a quick double-fire in the region will be the best way to make a big splash by creating more word-of-mouth buzz. When asked if he would be making his UWA in-ring debut he informed the interviewer that he was grinning under his ninja mask. Ota said that he would not be wrestling, and probably wouldn't even be there as he had to work something out with the Governor of New Jersey.

6th March, 2010 - UWA Forever Results

UWA Forever Results

6th March, 2010

Hunter's Town Hall, Mid West

Attendance: 40

Overall Score: 53

Ash Campbell vs. UWA Garden State Champion - The Sensational Singh

*Non Title*

-It was almost an exact replay of their encounter at UWA Kings of Spandex, aside from the fact that Ash Campbell ended up getting the pinfall after botched interference by The Sensational Singh’s new manager Brains McGhee. No mutual showing of respect after this match. 42

Steven Parker vs. Hollywood Bret Starr

-Steven Parker made short work of Hollywood Bret Starr, and shocked everyone at ringside by cussing at what had been a supportive crowd afterward. He said that those in attendance had just witnessed his last ever live UWA performance because UWA fans didn't deserve a talent like him. 41

Kirk Jameson vs. Rhino Umaga

-After what they had just seen, the crowd really rallied behind Kirk Jameson who was coming off a loss last month to Bradford Peverell at UWA Kings of Spandex. This was a different story, however many in attendance seemed to think Jameson's wear-down victory over Rhino Umaga went on a bit too long by the end. 40

Flatscreen monitors at Hunter’s Town Hall showed the locker room area where Steven Parker’s image garnered some instant heat from the crowd. Parker was shown warning Remmy Skye that after UWA Forever some major news will break which will have a disastrous effect on the UWA. Parker then appeared to make Skye some sort of offer, but Skye wasn't interested and instead shrugged his shoulders and put his iPod earphones back in. An exasperated Parker left the UWA World Heavyweight Champion, muttering “he’s not worth it” under his breath as he exited. 49

Dazzling Dave Diamond vs. Bradford Peverell

-Bradford Peverell made it two wins in two career UWA matches with a calculating, drawn-out victory over Dazzling Dave Diamond. Peverell had numerous chances to finish off the match but instead decided to go the humiliation route, going so far as to pull Diamond’s shoulders up off the canvas twice so that he could administer more punishment. 42

Matthew Keith vs. Remmy Skye ©

UWA World Heavyweight Championship

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/gratefulcowboy/uwa/UWAWorldHeavy.jpg

-In a rematch of last month’s main event, Remmy Skye and Matthew Keith put on another good match worthy of top billing on the card. Keith seemed much more settled this time around but Skye once again was the wrestler of the night. Remmy Skye makes his first successful defense of the UWA World Heavyweight Championship. He received some decent cheers from the Midwestern crowd in attendance even though he’s technically a heel. This is the best match the UWA has put on to date, a nice way to end its second ever show. 57

Out the Door: Great show for the little fed. Fans are worried though that the "major news" is that Parker and others have been raided by SWF.

1st April, 2010 – All Fools Day Roster Raid

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/gratefulcowboy/uwa/UWA.jpg

On All Fools Day the UWA would experience their first major media meltdown. After praising the success of UWA Forever in interviews and directly on the UWA website, Fumihiro Ota announced UWA Super Nova for the second week of April.

Later that night, however, Super Nova was instantly in doubt as Steven Parker announced on his Facebook page that he was leaving the UWA for an exclusive deal with TCW. Parker also said that Frankie Perez and Matthew Keith were following him out the door, in addition to referee Eugene Williams.

Early on the 2nd, April, Ota confirmed in a series of emails that indeed Parker, Perez, Keith, and Williams were all leaving for TCW. He also announced that Hollywood Bret Starr had signed an exclusive deal with SWF. He went on to explain that he had lost a third of the 12 active wrestlers on the roster, in addition to the only referee, and he had no choice but to cancel UWA Super Nova. News of the cancellation and all of the departures took a massive chunk out of the fed’s popularity and momentum, and seemed to confirm the early cynics’ view that the fed was a nothing more than a joke.

While Ota didn’t explicitly say it, he seemed disappointed that Kashmir Singh was unable to come up with a backup plan that didn’t have to include cancelling UWA Super Nova. No word yet on any replacement workers.

1st May, 2010 – Singh Announces Replenishment Signings

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/gratefulcowboy/uwa/UWAbanner.jpg

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/gratefulcowboy/uwa/KashmirSingh_alt1.jpg

(The Sensational Singh, always smiling like that)

Uncharacteristically, Kashmir Singh was the one to make an announcement about roster moves for the UWA instead of owner Fumihiro Ota. It was speculated online almost immediately that through his absence Ota was symbolically distancing himself from the disaster that was the Universal Wrestling Alliance in April. For a fed who only had 17 total workers (including backstage staff) to begin with, losing four of them to TCW and another to SWF really took a toll on the UWA name in the minds of discerning wrestling fans in the Mid West and Tri-State areas.

In a conference call with several major wrestling writers, Singh first announced the signing of Jez McArthuer, 39, as the UWA's new referee. Singh next tried to bury the biggest news by glossing over it quickly, and that was the addition of MAW's Head Booker Mean Jean Cattley. There seems to be no doubt on anyone's mind that this was Ota's move, and that the UWA's owner brought 32-year old Cattley in to look over Singh's shoulder and may even be lining up Singh's replacement as UWA Head Booker.

Singh also went on to announce Sgt. Bubba Lee West (31, previously unemployed), Handsome Stranger (34, also under contract to FCW), and Greg Gauge (20, also under contract to GCG) as reinforcements to bolster the active wrestler ranks. Cattley would be wrestling under a mask as The Mean Machine.

Singh also said that the next UWA event, UWA Exile, was to go on as scheduled and would be held in three weeks time back in the Mid West.

UWA Exile

21st May, 2010

Hunter’s Town Hall, Mid West

UWA World Tag Team Championship

Kirk Jameson & Rhino Umaga vs. The Crew Cutters (The Sensational Singh & Greg Gauge)

-Jameson beat Umaga back in March at UWA Forever. Now they’ll have to try and work together against UWA Garden State Champion The Sensational Singh and UWA newcomer Greg Gauge in a match to crown the first ever UWA World Tag Team Champions.

The Mean Machine vs. Sgt. Bubba Lee West

-Two more UWA debuts as Mean Machine and West square off against each other in an important match for each man’s UWA career.

Dazzling Dave Diamond vs. Ash Campbell

-Campbell and Diamond have been up and down in their UWA careers thus far, even though Campbell has a non-title win over Singh in his back pocket.

Handsome Stranger vs. Bradford Peverell

-Peverell looks to make it three wins in a row to start his UWA career, this time up against newcomer Handsome Stranger.

UWA World Heavyweight Championship

Fumihiro Ota vs. Remmy Skye ©

-After the infamous All Fools Day Roster Raid, Fumihiro Ota felt obligated to finally make his own UWA debut. He’s thrust himself right into the main event scene, but will he be sharp enough to unseat popular heel champion Remmy Skye?

21st May, 2010 - UWA Exile Results

UWA Exile Results

21st May, 2010

Hunter’s Town Hall, Mid West

Attendance: 29

Overall Score: 57

Kirk Jameson & Rhino Umaga vs. The Crew Cutters (The Sensational Singh & Greg Gauge)

UWA World Tag Team Championship

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/gratefulcowboy/uwa/UWAWorldTag-1.jpg

-The Crew Cutters became the inaugural UWA World Tag Team Champions with a thorough beatdown of Kirk Jameson and Rhino Umaga. The Sensational Singh made the victory about him and deferred to his partner only once during the match. After the match Singh and Gauge gave Kirk Jameson a crew cut haircut while Brains McGhee chased Rhino Umaga around ringside with a miniature crowbar. 43

The Mean Machine vs. Sgt. Bubba Lee West

-The Mean Machine got big cheers and a big win over a rusty Sgt. Bubba Lee West. 46

Dazzling Dave Diamond vs. Ash Campbell

-In a lackluster encounter that brought the crowd’s mood down a bit, Ash Campbell picked up a nonetheless important win over Dazzling Dave Diamond. 41

Handsome Stranger vs. Bradford Peverell

-Handsome Stranger looked good in the opening minutes, but Bradford Peverell took over and made it three straight victories in the UWA. After the match Peverell barked to the crowd that he deserved a UWA World Heavyweight title shot. 46

Fumihiro Ota vs. Remmy Skye ©

UWA World Heavyweight Championship

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/gratefulcowboy/uwa/UWAWorldHeavy.jpg

-Remmy Skye got a nice ovation for staying in the UWA despite the talent raid, and put on a great show in successfully defending the title against Fumihiro Ota. The match was the best match that the UWA has put on to date, an encouraging sign as the company looks to rebound from the disastrous month of April. 62

Out the Door: The fans thought this was a nice bounceback show and it went a long way towards repairing the damage caused by the TCW roster raid. Overall, in fact, it was the best show the organization had put on to date. It was just going to take a while for people to get over the cancellation of UWA Super Nova to take the organization seriously again.

Worker of the Night: Fumihiro Ota - Ota gets Worker of the Night even though Remmy Skye was very good again, mostly due to the fact that Ota was finally making his UWA debut.

1st June, 2010 - Turner Signs/UWA Resistance Announced

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/gratefulcowboy/uwa/ErnieTurner.jpg

Prior to announcing the card for UWA Resistance, Head Booker Kashmir Singh announced the signing of Ernie Turner to the UWA roster.

UWA Resistance

21st June, 2010

Hunter’s Town Hall, Mid West

Dazzling Dave Diamond vs. Ash Campbell

-Campbell defeated Diamond last month at UWA Exile and has now won two in a row. Diamond gets a rematch though to show that Campbell’s victory was just a fluke (and turn around his own two match losing streak in the process).

Greg Gauge vs. Rhino Umaga

-Gauge, one half of the UWA World Tag Team Champions, defeated Umaga and Kirk Jameson last month for the belts at UWA Exile. Gauge only had a brief stint in the ring as The Sensational Singh basically made the entire match about him. This time Gauge has nowhere to hide against Umaga, who is still seeking his first win in the UWA.

The Mean Machine vs. Ernie Turner

-The Mean Machine got his UWA career off on the right foot with a victory over Sgt. Bubba Lee West last month. This time he’ll be taking on a man making his UWA debut, “The Slick Pimp Daddy” Ernie Turner.

Fumihiro Ota & Bradford Peverell vs. Handsome Stranger & Sgt. Bubba Lee West

-A strange, random pairing that will have virtually no heat, Ota tries to hitch his wagon to the Peverell Express as Bradford Peverell remains unbeaten in the UWA.

UWA World Heavyweight Championship

The Sensational Singh vs. Remmy Skye ©

-Remmy Skye looks to make his third UWA World Heavyweight title defense, matching up for the first time against UWA Garden State Champion and one half of the UWA World Tag Team Champions, The Sensational Singh.

21st June, 2010 - UWA Resistance Results

UWA Resistance Results

21st June, 2010

Hunter’s Town Hall, Mid West

Attendance: 39

Overall Score: 53

Dazzling Dave Diamond vs. Ash Campbell

-Ash Campbell made it two straight wins over Dave Diamond, and three victories overall in this short, emphatic opening match. 41

UWA World Heavyweight Champion Remmy Skye was shown walking into UWA owner Fumihiro Ota’s office. In the hallway, Handsome Stranger stood in his wrestling gear eating a Sonic Burger and drinking cherry limeaide. Skye stopped for a second, shook his head, and continued into Ota’s office. 46

Greg Gauge vs. Rhino Umaga

-This was another quick match but it would be Rhino Umaga winning his first ever match in the UWA over one half of the UWA World Tag Team Champions, Greg Gauge.

Bradford Peverell was backstage getting ready for his match later in the night when The Stomper was then shown entering the locker room area and sitting down to give Peverell some advice. The in-house crowd took a large dump on the proceedings as soon as The Stomper appeared on the monitors. 39

The Mean Machine vs. Ernie Turner

-Another establishing win for The Mean Machine as he makes it two wins in two months of UWA action. Despite an elaborate entrance from Ernie Turner, the crowd was so dead from the proceeding angle that there really wasn’t anything he (or anyone) could do. 41

Fumihiro Ota & Bradford Peverell vs. Handsome Stranger & Sgt. Bubba Lee West

-Fumihiro Ota and Bradford Peverell worked surprisingly well together, and Ota in particular seemed to take out a lot of frustration on Sgt. Bubba Lee West during the match. Even though you could tell it was going to be a clear-cut win for Ota & Peverell from the very beginning it was the match of the night thanks to Ota. 57

The Sensational Singh vs. Remmy Skye ©

UWA World Heavyweight Championship

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/gratefulcowboy/uwa/UWAWorldHeavy.jpg

-This was the lowest rated Main Event in the UWA's short history, being completely outshone by the proceeding match as well. In what was supposed to be an epic clash of champions with UWA World Heavyweight Champion Remmy Skye up against Garden State and Tag Champion The Sensational Singh, it was anything but in a sloppy, sleepy match. 53

Out the Door: Fans thought the disastrous Peverell and Stomper angle was the worst thing in the UWA history since the Dazzling Dave Diamond win over Hollywood Bret Star back at UWA Kings of Spandex in February.

Worker of the Night: Fumihiro Ota - Ota takes it for the second straight month, this time though due to his performance and not just the novelty of his appearance.

28th June, 2010 - Kirk Jameson Horror Injury

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/gratefulcowboy/uwa/KirkJameson.jpg

Fumihiro Ota and Kashmir Singh weren't too thrilled when informed by UWA original roster member Kirk Jameson the day after UWA Resistance that he had signed a third PPA contract - this time with NYCW - in addition to his deals with the UWA and FCW. But they were shocked to learn that Jameson will be out of action for about a year after suffering a horrific broken neck during his NYCW debut at Deadly Game. Jameson was wrestling in a tag match with Whistler against The Old School Principals when something went wrong in-ring on a brainbuster attempted on Jameson by Rick Sanders. Sanders took a quick pinfall victory and then immediately started shouting for medical staff to come check on Jameson. The results weren't good and Jameson was rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Ota released a brief statement:

"On behalf of everyone at the UWA, we send best wishes for a speedy recovery to Kirk and his family. Wrestling is a cruel mistress - one second you can be in the prime condition of your career, and the next you are facing a long, hard road of rehabilitation. We have full faith that Kirk will be able to overcome this latest challenge that life has thrown at him, and he is welcome back in a UWA ring whenever he sees fit."

<p>2nd July, 2010 – Ota Announces UWA Proving Grounds</p><p> </p><p>

After a somber few days around the UWA offices, <strong>Fumihiro Ota</strong> announced that the UWA’s July event – Proving Grounds – would go on as scheduled. Heading into the second half of 2010, the fed has been able to reclaim most of the ground lost since the disastrous cancellation of UWA Super Nova back in April and now looks to prove itself in the minds of its critics. A good show here would go a long way to that end. </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">UWA Proving Grounds</span></strong></span></p><p>

21st July, 2010</p><p>

Hunter’s Town Hall, Mid West</p><p> </p><p>

The Mean Machine vs. Dazzling Dave Diamond </p><p>

-It is a match involving two wrestlers at opposite ends of the spectrum: The Mean Machine has won his first two matches in the UWA, while Dave Diamond hasn’t won since February. The perfect match for Proving Grounds, each man comes in with a lot still to prove. </p><p> </p><p>

Greg Gauge vs. Sgt. Bubba Lee West</p><p>

-Gauge has come under fire for being carried to the UWA World Tag Team Championship by The Sensational Singh, and didn’t do much to refute that sentiment when he lost to Rhino Umaga last month in a one-sided singles match at UWA Resistance. He comes up against a man in Sgt. Bubba Lee West who hasn’t won a match yet in his UWA career. A lot on the line again for each man in this interesting early-card encounter. </p><p> </p><p>

Ernie Turner vs. Rhino Umaga </p><p>

-The Slick Pimp Daddy Ernie Turner had an extremely tough time with The Mean Machine last month in his UWA debut loss, and things don’t get much easier for him with Rhino Umaga standing in his way next. Umaga is coming off a win and looking to establish himself as a threat to one of the singles titles. </p><p> </p><p>

Fumihiro Ota vs. Ash Campbell</p><p>

-Campbell comes into the match having won three in a row (including a non-title win over UWA Garden State Champion The Sensational Singh) and a win here would certainly prove he’s deserving of a title shot. Ota still seems to be fighting off the effects of ring rust and needs a big win to kickstart his own legacy in the fed he owns. </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>UWA World Heavyweight Championship</strong></span></p><p>

The Sensational Singh vs. Remmy Skye ©</p><p>

-These two have a lot to prove in this rematch after a sloppy, sleepy Main Event last month. Singh has been getting some heat lately from the fans for having not defended either the Garden State or the World Tag Team titles yet since winning them. But Singh can quiet all the critics with a win, which would make him the first triple-champion in UWA history.</p>
