My stories

Hello all!

Recently, I have started to get serious about my creative writing. I've always loved writing, and I've practiced my craft many, many hours, but only now have I decided I'm comfortable with the idea of sharing my work.

So, in the interest of building a fan base, may I direct you my latest short story: http://www.scribd.com/doc/33177285/The-Flood

I just finished it this morning and it may undergo a revision, but that's likely the final product. You'll also find some other stories and excerpts. I write regularly and I will be posting new work when I have work that's worth posting. I tend to stick more with the "thriller" genre, but I've been known to write real, literary fiction as well.

I think I'm starting to hit my stride as a writer, and I would love for some of you folks to check out my stuff. Everything is posted under my real name, Stu Moody. You can also follow me on Facebook to see updates and so forth. Thanks for your interest, I hope to hear from you soon, and please enjoy!

The smile on my face will have to be removed via surgery.

Someone used the word "fantastic" in reference to me. Seriously, that just made my week.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/32832783/The-Maw Another short story, more horror.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/32915727/Noelle The beginning of an as-yet unfinished story.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/32836697/Pain-Biff-and-Brendan An excerpt from the only book I've written.

I would hope that if you searched my name on Scribd.com you'd find me, but in case you can't, check out those links. "The Maw" and "The Flood" are quite recent. The other stuff is from when I was about 19. So...they're a little rough.

Thanks again!

Stu

As a bit of a creative writer, and a fan of creative writing myself, I was very entertained by The Flood. As said earlier, a great pacing, a great variety in terms of sentences and descriptions, generally a good read. I look forward to seeing more.

Thanks so much for the comments, both on here and in private. I'm glad people seem to like "The Flood," I feel its my best story to date. It's certainly not the greatest thing ever written, but I thought it was a pretty solid piece of business.

I have a book that I wrote when I was barely out of high school. That was only seven years ago, but I know I've improved tenfold since then. Anyway, if ever you folks are looking to invest a little more time in a story, you need only ask and I'd be happy to send it to you. The story is called "Pain," and it's not much like my recent stories (The Flood and The Maw). The few people who've taken a serious look at it have told me that it's well-paced and coherent, but it's also very puffy and clumsy in spots. I have to agree.

Yours for the asking!

That first one was AWESOME. A bit gross, but great.

The second one says Something went wrong. OUCH! lol

The excerpt from Pain was wow. I don't know how else to put it.

The Flood was quite amazing, and really easy to read. Have you considered hosting this on your own website? I could help you with it, at least this way you could see how many people are viewing, let readers leave comments and maybe even have a forum to hype upcoming stories and let them discuss your stories?

Tell me to shut up if I am babbling on about something your not interested in.

Thanks for the kind responses folks, it means a lot that people are enjoying my work.

No definite promises, but I'm hoping to either post brand new written material next week, or possibly the complete (and final) version of my book. At this point, I would be on my billionth re-write I think. I wrote it when I was young, and not quite so skilled, so this last edit is really to tighten everything up as best I can. moon_lit has asked for a copy of it, so she'll get it regardless of what I post next week.

Stay tuned!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I posted some new material today, it's the final version of my first book. Find me on Facebook for a link (and to be my friend), or you can check out Scribd.com. Just search for my name, Stu Moody, and you should be able to find my complete works. For direct access to the story, click on this link: http://www.scribd.com/doc/33502730/Pain

It's about 57,000 words, I wrote the bulk of it about eight years ago. Let me know what you think, and continue to spread the word, I got such a great response for my last story. Thanks for your support!

Just read The Flood and I enjoyed it. I thought it was going one way and it went in a way that I did not expect, which was great!

Did your inspiration for it come from the floods that plagued our fine state (or not so fine depending on how you feel about it) a couple of months back?

Yes, I was inspired by the floods...although no monsters actually came for me.
