MAW: Journey to Mid Atlantic

Recommended Posts

Mid Atlantic Wrestling!

In 2010 Rip Chord needed a new head booker so he contacted the writer and Wrestling journalist know as Mr. E to fill the role.

His job was simple, first of all make a success of the 5th Annual Rip Chord Invitational and then to continue the proud tradition of MAW as North America's Primary promotion for up and coming wrestlers to come and learn their trade.

This is the story of his journey and the Mid Atlantic Wrestling Promotion.

OOC in white:Not much of a backstory as IDK what to say. I will put up a conversation with Rip upon meeting him face to face for the first time and the card for the invitational will be put up.

Feedback would be very much appreciated and anyone with tip and help as this is my first go at a public TEW diary.

Meeting Rip face to face

I don't normally get nervous, but then again I'm not normally outside Rip Chord's office 5 minutes late for a meeting.

(I knocked on the door)

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/RipChord_alt1.jpg

Rip: Hello.

Me: Good Afternoon Rip, I'm...

Rip: sorry no time for introductions boy I'm a busy man, here have a beer.

(Rip hands me an ice cold beer)

Me: Thank you Mr. Chord.

Rip: Ok right I called you here to discuss the direction of the company anything you'd like to see different around here?

Me: No, not really I feel there is a great set up here Mr. Chord and aside from maybe a couple of personnel additions I feel that we have a good set up to work with here.

Rip: That's what I like to here, boy, but as I'm sure you already know we are primarily here to give people opportunities to show their talent mostly rookies but if you see maybe a potential trainer or a guy who just needs a hand getting back into the swing of regular schedules then we'd be more than happy to help a few workers, but don't hire anyone who already has regular work because that's not what were he for, now crack open that beer and tell me your plans.

Me: Of course Rip, For the Invitational I'm thinking maybe...

The conversation could've gone on for hours but with a schedule like Rip's he told me when to stop, I like that he's up front with what he wants to say and he'll tell me which plans are, well, crap for want of a better word, as I don't think I want to annoy some one like Rip ,that could leave me out of the business before I've even begun.

But, I felt confident that I could do a good job here and can't wait to start.

To be fair it is a pretty poor clue and it's a character name so the first word isn't supposed to be their in his 'actual' name and as an extra clue he shares a surname with a drunk off The Simpsons. One of few experienced workers on the roster

Internal Monologue 1

Initial Active roster with brief analysis

Faces

Ace 'Tomahawk' Youngblood

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n250/Tylergadzinski/people/AceYoungblood.jpg

The old regime see to like him and he's got decent skills, he's even been on TV with TCW, his tag team with Max Mayhem is pretty strong too can see him being a reliable midcarder but really doesn't jump out at me.

American 'AmPat' Patriot

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/BrandonSmith_alt4.jpg

The Champ, yet to defend it after injury but I'm sure he can be one of our top stars for years to come, but undoubtedly someone bigger will come after him.

'Mr. Anarchy' Citizen X

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/CitizenX.jpg

Really like the character but don't think he'll ever be a star as such but another solid worker

Curtis 'CJ' Jenkins

http://i847.photobucket.com/albums/ab38/R-B-M/MAW/CurtisJenkins.jpg

+He's a fellow Englishmen, semi-decent Technical wrestler

- He's pretty poor at everything else, very dull

'Old School' Findlay O' Farraday

http://i847.photobucket.com/albums/ab38/R-B-M/MAW/FindlayOFarraday.jpg

Good Size, Good Look, decent brawler strangely a face but I suppose the fan support can't be helped. Good member of the roster could get pushed.

'The Sprout Faced Boy' Keith Vegas

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/KeithVegas.jpg

The Sprout faced boy what more can I say and if you though he looked bad he isn't much better in the ring, is Chord trying to show off, I suppose I'll do my best

'2 Xtreme' Max Mayhem

http://i847.photobucket.com/albums/ab38/R-B-M/MAW/RandyMaxx.jpg

He's a quite good flyer and works well with Ace Youngblood.

'Clean Cut' Riley McManus

http://i847.photobucket.com/albums/ab38/R-B-M/MAW/RileyMcManus.jpg

Promising youngster who is really helpful for CJ who needs to be carried. One to watch

Heels

'Hollywood' Brett Starr

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/BrettStarr_alt.jpg

Great look, Great future, Amazing on the microphone and even more charismatic and a great team with Jay Chord. Only a matter of time until the big leagues come calling.

'The Second Generation Superstar' Cameron Vessey

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/CameronVessey2.jpg

Another with success in his blood, good team with Casey and solid all round skills another who must be on the radar of TCW probably with Uncle Bryan in management's ear.

'Hot Prospect' Casey Valentine

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/CaseyValentine2.jpg

Member of the Succession, Peter Valentines nephew but don't let that put you off trained by Rip Chord himself another prospect with a great future

Huey Cannonball

http://i914.photobucket.com/albums/ac341/MoneyMolly/Back%20In%20My%20Day/HueyCannonball.jpg

Tag team champ with a good look and a good team with Jeff Stardust, OK across the board but not great, could get a chance if the MAW roster gets raided.

'The Future' Jay Chord

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/JayChord2.jpg

The bosses son and an class A a'hole (not that I'd tell his dad that) but as much of a jerk that he is he's got the skills to pay the rental car damge bills that he'll refuse to pay, future star of MAW if he and Rip can stay on good terms.

'The Idol' Jefferson Stardust

http://i914.photobucket.com/albums/ac341/MoneyMolly/Back%20In%20My%20Day/JeffersonStardust.jpg

Good team with Huey and managed by he Runaway Train's daughter doesn't really standout to me and the OOT look just doesn't 'excite me' but with Huey will always be a decent Tag Team division member.

'Mean' Jean Cattley

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z119/vaguelymarkish/MeanJeanCattley.jpg

Former booker, good for the youngsters to learn from with very good technical skills and a great consistency one of the best guys to have on the roster.

'Straight A' Ricky Douglas

http://i914.photobucket.com/albums/ac341/MoneyMolly/Back%20In%20My%20Day/RickyTurner.jpg

OK all-rounder helped by his manager E.F.H, good member of the roster.

Overall I like the roster and with a couple of changes here and there I feel we'll be able to put on quality shows whilst having worker with enough ability to teach the youngsters.

MAW Presents: The Rip Chord Invitational V

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/MAWPCI-1.jpg

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/MAW.jpghttp://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/MAW_Rip.jpg

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/MarvEarnest_alt1.jpghttp://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/DukeHazzard.jpg

Duke: Hello and Welcome to the Rip Chord Invitational. 'I'm The Martial' Duke Hazard along side Marvellous Marv Ernest, we are Live From Stanley Hall and coming to you on MAW DVD.

Marv: And as you touched on there Duke tonight is the 5th annual Rip Chord Invitational in which MAW's best are pitted against each other in an 8 man tournament to determine who MAW's top star truly is.

Duke: And speaking of top stars tonight is the return of the American Patriot a man we haven't seen in Mid Atlantic Wrestling since his title win in July of last year and he has promised us if he is in the final he will also be putting his title on the line.

Marv: He is just that confident Duke but will ring rust see him crash out or even lose his title during our first show of 2010. And opening up is Our champ against Rip Chords only son Jay.

Jay Chord v The American Patriot

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/JayChord2.jpg vs http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/BrandonSmith_alt4.jpg

At the beginning of the match The Patriot seem to be slowed by rust of missing nearly 6 months of action and after a Spike DDT Jay Chord even managed a close 2 count. As he grew in confidence, the ****iness of Jay came to the forefront and as he had The Patriot up he began to taunt, as he spun The American Patriot around he had enough in him to reverse Jay's DDT attempt into a thunderous Spinebuster and both men lay flat until 7 when The Patriot got up and stalked Jay and has he fell perfectly into his hands dropping him on his neck with a Back Drop Driver which he cradled over to eliminate Jay Chord after 11:39.

Jay looked furious as he headed back kicking the guardrails and looking angry at the loss as The American Patriot celebrated.

The American Patriot Progresses

Marv: And a win for the champ but will he have the stamina to wrestle 2 more match tonight we will see tonight.

Duke: But you have to say a good performance by Jay ruined by a single silly error, and you could see the anger radiating from Chord Junior there.

Marv: And if we know Jay he won't take a loss too lightly.

Fat Ford Gumble w/Dr.E v Findlay O' Farraday

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/FordGumble_alt2.jpg vs http://i847.photobucket.com/albums/ab38/R-B-M/MAW/FindlayOFarraday.jpg

This match saw the debut of Ford Gumble who was announced by a man called Dr. E as Fat Ford Gumble and he was quite well received as people know him from TCW, however his famous face didn't faze Findlay who look intent on winning the Invitational but Gumble used his experience to drop toe hold a rushing O' Farraday who had beaten Gumble for large spouts in the match, Ford then tried to lock in a STF but Findlay was too big and strong for him to get it in and Ford rolled out of the ring as Dr. E gave him some advice and he rolled back in only to spit the water he had just 'drank' in the face of the big man which stunned him enough for Ford to hit the Savate kick to lay Findlay down for the count after 12:30

Fat Ford Gumble progresses

Cameron Vessey vs Rod Remus w/ Remmy

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/CameronVessey2.jpg vs http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/RoderickRemus_alt1.jpg

In a straight forward where both men struggled to brake the deadlock Vessey found a break when he grabbed Rod's leg in a legitimate style lunge and locked in an ankle lock on Remus who grabbed the ropes but was put in a face down full nelson, despite making it to his feet and releasing from the hold only to bounce into the ropes and be lifted into position for a Vessey Driver, Cam gave his trademark snarl and hit Rod in the canvas with the family finisher to end the match by pinfall in 10:59

Cameron Vessey progresses

Mean Gene Cattley vs Citizen X

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z119/vaguelymarkish/MeanJeanCattley.jpg vs http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/CitizenX.jpg

In an easy match for Jean Cattley he managed to keep X under control for large spells of the match and limiting him to few high risk moves by taking out his right leg, and after 11:54 he hit the Mood Swing and got the pin.

Mean Jean Cattley progresses

Marv: And there we have it there's 4 left to battle it out for the Trophy and the draw has taken place, and The Duke has the results.

(Cut's to back)

Duke: Thanks Marv and the next match you will see is The American Patriot taking on MAW newcomer Fat Ford Gumble. Back to you Marvin.

Marv: And there it is up next the Champion of MAW v the vastly experienced Ford Gumble.

Fat Ford Gumble w/ Dr.E vs American Patriot

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/FordGumble_alt2.jpg vs http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/BrandonSmith_alt4.jpg

Pre match Gumble took some intense advise from his trainer Dr. E and he looks pumped and this shows in the early stages of the match as he worked on the big man and got him onto the mat and kept working on the knee trying to eliminate Patriots power moves and when Fumble had a single-legged crab locked in, The American Patriot looked in trouble until he powered out of it and led to Gumble crashing to the out side and unbalancing the Trainer Dr.E who then shouted at the downed Gumble and rolled him into the ring and Patriot took control after the trainers error but he still couldn't hit the power moves because of the leg injury and when Gumble thought he caught a break with a bulldog AmPat pushed him into the ropes knocking the over active Dr. E off the apron, and The American Patriot hit a backdrop driver to win in 12:45 to advance to the final.

American Patriot progresses to the Final

Post match American Patriot is in the ring celebrating his progression when Jay Chord runs down to the ring through the crowd.

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/JayChord2.jpg

He attacks The American Patriot, beating him into the ground and then he got a chair from ringside and smashed it against the injury prone leg of his victim and proceed to beat him down until security dragged away the bitter eliminated Succession member.

Mean Jean Cattley v Cameron Vessey

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z119/vaguelymarkish/MeanJeanCattley.jpg vs http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/CameronVessey2.jpg

Cameron Vessey started well and shocked the Experienced Mean Jean with some quick offence and the a number of big moves rocked him however after a few minutes the bout evened out and they shared the offensive and the patient Cattley caught a break and hit a strong Mood Swing that Cameron Vessey shocked the crowd by kicking out at the last opportunity and when the mentally exausted Cattley picked him back up he was caught off guard with a small package for the win.

Cameron Vessey progresses to the final

Duke: And there we have it the finalists of the fifth Rip Chord invitational, and the final is the Second Generation Superstar Cameron Vessey taking on The MAW Champion American Patriot.

Marv: And this match interestingly pits The winner of the 3rd and 4th Rip Chord Invitational against each other to join Mid Atlantic Alumni Mainstream Hernandez on two wins in this prestigous tournament and Rip Chord is in the ring awaiting the two finalists.

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/RipChord_alt1.jpg

“ Tonight is the fifth annual Rip Chord Invitational and you have seen the best MAW has to offer and now we are down to two very worthy finalists, the 2008 winner and our current champion who has been out since he won that gold will be defending his title tonight as well taking on the son and nephew of two of the world greatest wrestlers in the World, he is the Second Generation Superstar Cameron Vessey. And as you see to my left is the trophy these 2 men will be battling for so without any further delay I welcome Cameron Vessey”

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/CameronVessey2.jpg

Vessey comes to the ring and rejects a hand shake from Chord.

“ And now welcome The American Patriot!”

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/BrandonSmith_alt4.jpg

The Patriot's Patriotic music blares over the sound system and the crowd cheer the hero and he arrives and a big flag falls from the roof behind him as he carries his own flag to the ring shaking fans hand. He goes to the crowd hands his flag to a young fan and fires up the crowd, he steps in the ring and eagerly shakes hands with Rip Chord then poses for the crowd and generally tries to pump the fans up.

MAW Championship Match

The Rip Chord Invitational Final: The American Patriot vs Cameron Vessey

The fans were behind Patriot and so against the SGS that Patriot thrived on this and seemed to forget about his injured leg and was hitting his power moves in quick succession and with one last one he knocked Vessey over the top rope with a hip toss and The Patriot took to the outside and hit a flurry of punches to Vessey's face, followed by him throwing into the steel steps and as he smashes his head into them the fans join in until 6 when distracted by the referee telling him to get in the ring Vessey tripped him into them and rolled Patriot into the ring, Vessey went to the top rope and went for a risky leg-drop on Patriot but he just slipped out of the way of Cameron's leg and waited stalking Vessey and as he got up for an inverted piledriver but his leg gave way and he fell whilst dropping Vessey on his head and both were down and the ref began to count both out... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8,.. but as he was just about to call 9 Patriot draped a hand over the downed SGS for 1,2,3.

The game says he 'put on a noticeable amount of body fat.' So i thought I'd run his gimmick of him trying to get back into shape and he is only called 'Fat' Ford Gumble by his trainer 'Dr. E.' and in the game he's still Middleweight.

Also to clear anything up Rolled up chewing gum was Gum-ball-> Gumble, so sorry for the poor clue

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/MAW.jpg

The first show went fairly well and Rip seemed pleased, but Gumble was not happy with the loss but its not too bad so we'll see how he goes, 3 debuts at the Inviational:

Fat Ford Gumble

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/FordGumble_alt2.jpg

He is a top star and can teach the youngsters some good skills and we are helping him so in all it's a good deal all round.

Rod Remus

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/RoderickRemus_alt1.jpg

and Remmy as his manager and somehow they just didn't click, but I've got an idea to solve that so atleast I still have use for Remmy which is good and Rod is a great worker and doesn't mind putting people over so all in all two good signing and a good show to build on, I can't wait for Wrestling Classic

Wrestling Classic

MAW Presents: Wrestling Classic

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/MAWWC.jpg

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/MAW.jpg

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/MarvEarnest_alt1.jpghttp://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/DukeHazzard.jpg

Marv: Hello and Welcome to the Wrestling Classic LIVE from Stanley Hall in front of 108 fans eager for some MAW action.

Duke: And I can't blame 'em after the amazing events of last month, you can see why, not only did you see The American Patriot win The Rip Chord Invitational we also saw Ford Gumble debut along with the Remus twins.

Marv: But perhaps more shockingly we saw blatant dispespect towards Mr. Chord by Cameron Vessey and perhaps even more concerning was the attack on Rip by his son Jay.

A video is shown of Ford Gumble on a screen that the fans could barely see and he is on a vigorous training session with Dr. E, he is seen to be working hard, he is then shown working on a cut out of Ace Youngblood throwing kicks at it and receiving tips from Dr. E.

Ace Youngblood v Ford Gumble

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n250/Tylergadzinski/people/AceYoungblood.jpg vs http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/FordGumble_alt2.jpg

It was all too simple for Ford Gumble ('whose trainer' Dr. E announces as 'Fat' Ford again) and he made easy pickings of Ace but after last months embarrassment by AmPat he decided to make Ace pay, using the ropes to try and choke him and when the referee tried to stop him he pushed the ref and the fans who were cheering him began to boo and after hitting a neckbreaker Gumble pulled up the vest he was wearing and went to the top rope and hit a big splash on him which Youngblood sold as if he'd crushed him and Gumble got the win after 12:15.

Winner: Ford Gumble

American Patriot comes down to the ring, which has been set up for a celebration with the Rip Chored Invitational in the centre of the ring he celebrates his victory with the fans.

MAW Tag Team Titles Match

The Awesomeness v The Atlantic Connection

http://i914.photobucket.com/albums/ac341/MoneyMolly/Back%20In%20My%20Day/HueyCannonball.jpg & http://i914.photobucket.com/albums/ac341/MoneyMolly/Back%20In%20My%20Day/JeffersonStardust.jpg vs http://i847.photobucket.com/albums/ab38/R-B-M/MAW/RileyMcManus.jpg & http://i847.photobucket.com/albums/ab38/R-B-M/MAW/CurtisJenkins.jpg

In a fairly boring and basic match until Riley McManus got tagged in he took Stardust off of the apron but ran straight into a kick from Huey Cannonball and then hit with a Cannonball Run (rolling neckbreaker) on McManus for the pinfall in 11:27 to retain.

Winners: The Awesomeness

Brett Starr vs Dermot O'Logical

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/BrettStarr_alt.jpg vs http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/DermotOLogical.jpg

The debutante started well and really put pressure on Brett to turn it around but he struggled to take advantage of the shaky Starr. He then used his Deep Cleanse (Swinning reverse STO) finisher and got a 2 count but this saw the end of Dermot's attack and Hollywood took the attack to him he put Dermot in the corner, and then monkey flipped him followed by him going to the top rope and hitting a flying knee drop on his opponent and then picked him up and hit a Hollywood Hammer (reverse overdrive) to get the victory.

Winner: Brett Starr

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/JayChord2.jpg

Jay Chord comes to the ring and takes a microphone he says:

“I am out here to make a request to you Rip and if you do as I say then I'll make your life a lot easier for you.”

With that Rip Chord comes out with a microphone

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/RipChord_alt1.jpg

Rip: “You think you can imtimidate me Jay?”

Jay “ I already have, old man all you need to do is realise sooner or later the power is coming to The Succession and there nothing you can do about that, and that's what intimidates you Rip.”

Rip: “ You really believe that don't you. That's funny boy, but seriously what did you want to request?”

Jay: “ Did I say request or is that your hearing, either way what I meant was I DEMAND a title shot right now!”

Rip: “ You do Jay, you see in all your life you have and never will tell me what to do Jay and I'm afraid someone who has earnt a match with The Patriot has already took it so I'm afraid your out of luck but you can face Rod Remus, and we'll see how you do, kid?”

Jay: “ Bring that kid down for ass whopping then Rip.”

Jay Chord v Rod Remmus

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/JayChord2.jpg vs http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/RoderickRemus_alt1.jpg

Rod came down and Remmy Remus took to the announce booth to call his brothers match, this didn't do Rod any good as Jay Chord took him apart with many cheating tactics, and the fair playing Rod could do nothing to stop a lowblow which lead to a leg drop bulldog and then he picked up Rod and dropped him square on his head with a cradle piledriver for a pinfall win for Jay Chord.

Winner: Jay Chord

Marv: And Jay putting himself in prime contention for a title shot with an impressive win there.

Duke: And his dad Rip is in the ring as we speak.

Rip has a microphone and is in the ring with the American Patriot.

“ Since there has been lets say a bit of trouble in MAW I am official becoming American Patriot's manager starting with tonight's match and he is the official in ring representative of MAW, we will confidently work together and show you all that in these time of disrespect and disgusting behaviour from some of our top workers, there is still time for change and a chance of a future for MAW”

The 2 then pose to the crowd.

MAW: World Heavyweight Championship

American Patriot v Mean Jean Cattley

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/BrandonSmith_alt4.jpg vs http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z119/vaguelymarkish/MeanJeanCattley.jpg

These two men where pumped for a huge main event for MAW and there was a tentative first few minutes before action picked up as Mean Jean lunged at American patriot with a big boot but the leg was caught and he smashed him into the canvas with a capture suplex and began to knee Cattley's ribcage and he continued as Jean battled to his feet only to be knocked down with a quick, violent snap suplex but only for a 1 count, the Patriot then applied a sleeper but Cattley wouldn't allow him to lock in the scissors and got to his feet and push the big man in to the ropes and gave him a tilt-a-whirl slam as both men fell back to the ground. Mean Jean was the first to react by locking in an Inverted Indian Deathlock and AmPat looked close to tapping until he reached the ropes, and Jean started to stomp on the Champions (favoured) left arm and then locked that arm in a crossface but again was too close to the ropes, American Patriot was now looking shaky and as he pulled himself up Cattley chopped his leg (although it was VERY high on the leg) and knocked him down but after a few more stomps, The American Patriot began to rejuvenate in a variation of the old Sam Strong power up. He got up to his feet and no-selled two punches from the challenger then struck him to the ground, when he got up he knocked him down again, he then irish whip Cattley into the ropes and back body dropped him and signified the end as Mean Jean stumble into his hand for him to execute the Inverted Piledriver to get the 3 count.

Winner: The American Patriot

Just one debut and he was solid in defeat against Brett Starr, he may be put in a tag team as I feel he can help another worker. We are losing money so I'll have to speak with Rip at the bi-monthly meeting, I think I may have to tell him that the drug testing isn't a good idea, I'm not sure how he'll take it but I feel its vital to staying afloat.
