Papa Shango has been keeping out of the ring but still making his presence felt. If this turns into a 2-on-1 he could be in trouble but who knows what tricks he could pull out?

Our Dutch champions could never be described as dominant. But they are fast, committed and daring which wins them matches. Unfortunately Youth Explosion’s theft of their energising supplies of adult material has left them seeming a little lethargic.

 

Youth Explosion will be confident of winning under the circumstances but TNG in the match means there will be no easy wins here.

We all thought Marat was just a nasty giant on a rampage until he revealed his history with the unprincipled but determined Sergei. In the same matchup last month Marat was dominant but was DQed. Sergei certainly seems more confident than he should do after that but it may be to do with HIW’s latest announcement:

 

This will be a cage match.

What started as a straight-forward battle for the Velocity title has expanded into a small war with Wave of Violence (supported byt the Hooligans) finding out that not everyone will lay down for them.

 

Red Dragon and Pitbull are nothing if not determined but taking on 4 men might be too much even for those HIW stalwarts.

Sewer Croc has been on a great run of form but still sees himself as the outsider. Jeffrey had been in poor form but rebounded last week with a shock win over Double Dutch.

 

It seems Jeff has turned the corner and at his request this match will be a Loser-leaves-HIW contest.

Could go either way but Wave of Violence doesn´t really care much about rules so I see them getting a DQ loss here.

That stipulation makes this one pretty as Jeffrey as he got a big win in last show but Croc has been pushed near the top... I´m guessing that this has to be about one of these getting stolen or having insane contract demands but which one? Oh well, I go with Jeffrey staying just because that big win he got in last show.

“Sergei and Marat Khoklov face of again in a steel cage. Marat has been dominant so far but does Sergei have a secret plan?

 

“All three of our top tag contenders will be in the ring together. Double Dutch aren’t at their strongest but have proved successful as underdogs before.

 

“Red Dragon and Pitbull finally get the chance to even the score against the Wave of Violence. Can they actually enjoy a fair fight?

 

“Sewer Crocodile faces a resurgent Jeffrey McPeterson. One of these men will be leaving HIW tonight. Will it be the youngster from a respected family or the newcomer with the arrogance and difficult upbringing?

“This match is meaningless. As is all life but this especially so. I beat Pitbull Brown last week in this very ring. Jay has beaten Red Dragon before for the Velocity belt. We’re better than them.”

“You little people make me laugh. Honour and codes and patronising bull****. You sound like you’re from the 1800s not the noughties. But I don’t need any help to beat you. You have my word that tonight it will be just us. And that’s more than enough”

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Red Dragon and Pit Bull Brown defeated Wave of Violence in 14:36 when Pit Bull Brown defeated Anarchy by submission. During the match we also saw Davey Celtic run in and attack Pit Bull Brown, and Davey London also attack Red Dragon.

 

* This is a good match with all four men going hell-for-leather.

* Anarchy’s word lasts about 13 minutes before the Hooligans attack. The Wave really have no regard for honesty and rules. Unfortunately The Hooligans ineptitude continues and they manage to FAIL in their attack taking out Jay Zero by mistake and allowing Pitbull to lock Anarchy into an ankle lock.

A video plays of the history between Sergei Kalashnov and Marat Khoklov.

It starts with the Russian Bears awesome musculature and destructive streak and intersperses footage of Sergei’s past exploits. The footage is thus full of massive power moves from Marat and daredevil dives from The Fresh Prince of Belarus.

 

Over the top a recording of Marat’s heartfelt revelations of Sergei’s treachery in their past before we see Sergei’s comical but cruel attempts to trick the big man into blind alleys.

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Marat Khoklov defeated Sergei Kalashnov in 9:42 by pinfall.

 

• Sergei spent the match trying to use his speed to stay out of Marat’s direct attacking style and he fared far better than last time they fought.

• The match rules stated it could be won by pinfall or escape so Sergei tried to just climb out. Unfortunately Khoklov has a huge reach and this wasn’t so easy.

• Falling back on plan B Sergei started to attempt to immobilise the big man but the confined space of the cage meant there was never quite enough room.

• Even with far more of a plan, in the end Sergei’s tactics just came up a bit short and Marat managed to hit his patented Moscow lariat. This time Sergei was pinned fair and square.

“I don’t want people like Toilet Croc getting the limelight and the matches whilst people like me are toiling away without really getting the recognition.”

“HIW may be a stinking pile of dullness but it’s still a stepping stone to greater things. I’ll leave but on my own terms. I’ll be heading to SWF whilst you’re hanging around with your dad in MOSC.”

* Jeff certainly does have the name but unfortunately the Croc gave him a bit of a lesson big-time wrestling here.

* A combination of brawling and imaginative reversals meant Jeffrey was never really in the match.

* Sewer Crocodile even found time to gloat and made several gestures to Jeff and the HIW fans that he is a cut above them.

Youth Explosion (Leigh Burton & Ricky Storm) of course enter the ring next. Their manageress Bethany is carrying a stack of the precious mags which Ruud and Frank stare longingly at…

* The Dutch are definitely distracted but the fact it’s a 3-way match makes it hard for anyone to capitalise.

* These 3 teams are really evenly matched no one can really get an advantage over the others.

* The finish comes as Adam tries to force Leigh to submit – and almost succeeds before Ruud manages to roll Adam and sneak the win.

“The time for hiding in the shadows and performing elaborate tricks has passed Papa Shango. You’ve been dodging me all year and pretending you’re some kind voodoo shaman but in my ring you’ll have nothing to hide behind.

“I know Joey feels the same. Whatever you’ve put in his drink it wont matter tonight. Joey has some issues but he comes alive in the squared circle.”

 

Papa Shango comes out to his slow ska and candlelit routine and speaks in his super-deep but musical voice. It’s like someone is talking through a subwoofer.

“Joey will be here tonight but he may be a little late. Let us begin without him.”

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Papa Shango defeated Joey Beauchamp and UK Dragon in 20:11 when UK Dragon and Joey Beauchamp were counted out. Papa Shango makes defence number 1 of his High Impact UK Championship title.

 

* Dragon and Shango spend the early match going all out at each other all out. Dragon uses his junior style whilst Shango is much more of a physical brawler with his big frame.

* Dragon is actually starting to make headway in the match and Shango actually looks rocked when Joey enters the match.

* Joey looks a little more himself than on the last HIW TV but is still jerky-looking with a faraway look in his eye. He solely attacks UK Dragon and the heroic ex-champ finds himself fighting two fronts.

* Noone can do that against opponents like this and the Dragon is slowly beaten down allowing Papa Shango to heave him out of the ring. Joey seemingly voluntarily steps out himself and the ref is forced to award the match to Shango.

A Closer match than it could have been here. Blake looked pretty good but Jay Zero got involved and blatant cheating sealed the win for the masked man.

Sergei Kalashnov cuts a promo where he drops his smiling, jokiness and flat out rounds on Marat Khoklov.

 

Sergei claims he may have tricked him years ago but the Russian Bear deserves it. All Russia has ever done is trick Belarus in return.

 

Sergei is well on the way to convincing himself and the crowd that he has behaved ok when Red Dragon appears and as usual comes down hard on the side of right, honour and rules.

 

Dragon proposes a match and is accepted.

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Sergei Kalashnov defeated Red Dragon in 15:13 by pinfall with an Eastern Block after a distraction from Anarchy. During the match we also had Marat Khoklov distract Sergei.

 

Another pretty good match with two classic HIW masked athletes in it. Unfortunately both me were assaulted by their current rivals which allowed arch-opportunist Sergei to sneak the win.

In a match that had some good action and average heat, UK Dragon defeated Ricky Storm in 10:21 by pinfall with a Dragon Drop.

 

Both men are fast, brave and fit but strangely just didn’t seem to click meaning the match was disjointed and awkward. Ricky was accompanied by Bethany Hurst and the stack of adult magazines liberated from Double Dutch. Unfortunately playing up by parading them was a distraction and UK Dragon capitalised on the showboating to hit his Dragon Drop.

OOPS! Sorted now. I brought SS in on loan and then messed up the show. Apologiers for slopppiness.

 

The Heeby Jeebys are only green so they dont look too much like lackeys for Papa Shango. Nightmare is really young and a bit of a lump so I dont know how much of a future they hhave. Ill see of they get over. They're supposed to be camp, creepy and odd like the hitmen in Diamonds are Forever.

The Fearsome Bunsen introduces the show from the ring as normal.

Firstly he brings in the new announcing team of comedienne Mel Florence and Steve Smith. They’ll be covering all the matches and commentary from now on in HIW.

 

Bunsen also explains that tonight will see a raft of matches pitting big names against each other. Firstly UK Dragon will be taking on a new HIW signing with real pedigree:

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, UK Dragon defeated Grey Angel in 9:05 by pinfall with a Dragon Drop.

 

Grey Angel was very impressive but just not in the same class as his brother Dark Angel. UK Dragon showed his steel in this tough encounter.

Bloxsome proceeds to the ring and announces that he’s heard from UK Dragon that there is a man utilising evil spirits to dominate others. As a religious man Bloxsome is here to stop that.

 

Geordie Jimmy Morris also comes out. He knows Bloxsome from back in the day and states that welcoming the Druid to the HIW way will be his last singles match as he’s slowing down. His new partner will be young Scottish rising stretcher Don Henderson.

The two veterans went all out here in and old-fashioned brawl. A match like that can never go on too long and Bloxsome took advantage of Morris’ lack of conditioning to seize a debut win.

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Wave of Violence defeated Victor Hugo, Heeby Jeebys and The Beach Warriors in 9:31 when Anarchy defeated Mr. Nightmare by pinfall by using underhanded tactics.

 

Chaos. People are all over the place here with tons of individual battles.

The action spills outside the ring early on allowing everyone to have their chance to shine. Victor looks especially good but Hugo is a real drag for him.

Of course Wave of Violence cheat all the way through and it’s a sneaky kidney punch that allows Anarchy to pit the big Mr Nightmare down.

UK Dragon and Ali Bloxsome come in carrying flaming torches and brandish them at Papa Shango causing the big champion to recoil.

They manage to drive Shango off leaving Joey to face Sewer Croc alone.

In a bout that had great heat and great wrestling action, Joey Beauchamp drew with Sewer Crocodile in 10:18 when the referee lost control and stopped the match.

 

Joey being on his own didn’t last that long as Shango came back out and started doing some freaky Voodoo eyes at Joey which seemed to help him. UK Dragon also came out and with everyone brawling the ref had to throw this one out.

Papa Shango returns alone and takes the opportunity to talk after the match.

 

With lots of his trademark deep, booming laughter he assures Bloxsome and UK Dragon that they can’t defeat his powers with old-fashioned Druid magic. Nothing can stop him leeching away at the souls of HIW workers for his own, personal glory.

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Papa Shango drew with Sergei Kalashnov in 12:32 when the match descended into chaos after Marat Khoklov got involved. During the match we also had Ali Bloxsome distract Shango.

 

Papa Shango was struggling against a very impressive Sergei here when he showed his powers are intact. Marat Khoklov was clearly under the influence when he got involved and indeed, Shango even openly paraded the doll of the big Russian. Sergei didn’t go down easy though and managed to clasp a modified ankle-lock onto Marat that slowed things down long enough for Bloxsome and UK Dragon to AGAIN come out and go after Papa Shango.

 

Needless to say the ref again had to throw this match out as it dissolved into chaos (and not the good kind).

Hmmmmmmmmm. Not really happy with that show at all. I thought the two draws were a massive letdown and I hadnt realised theyd be on the same night until too late (my future planning in this game is average at best).

 

Still - the Croc/Joey match was brilliant even if Sergei/Shango was surprisingly underwhelming.

 

Its only w2 in the month so we really just want things taking shape for Scorch Comfort.

Because they were so disappointing I gave everyone a point for the draws which meant a 4-way tie with 4/5 each!

 

I was surprised noone went for the WoV in the 4way tag match. Theyre right in the think of a storyline (or two depending on how you see it).

 

The Heeby-Jeebys appear to be popular even if they arent amazing in-game so they might get some more airtime.

As far as the show went, the two debutants were certainly useful talents - I'm intrigued to see if Grey Angel can become involved in the upper mid-card scene straight away considering his heritage. As far as Ali Bloxsome's return, I'm wondering whether following a returning win he can continue with further victories or whether he will become the veteran gatekeeper.

 

Finally, given the confrontation this week, I'd love to see a big three-man tag match built up between Ali Bloxsome, UK Dragon, Sewer Crocodile, Joey Beauchamp, Papa Shango and a new voodoo recruit? Actually, the Heeby Jeebys would probably make good stable members if Shango goes that far!!

Grey Angel wont be that high soon - hes got very little pop as hes never really worked at all in the UK.

 

Hes the perfect kind of guy to fight for the Velocity belt but obviously Red Dragon is still desperate to get that off Jay Zero at the moment.

 

Here's Blake's custom board available from HIW shops now. I cant imagine we'll sell many but there's a decent margin on them and HIW TV is broadcast in HTV and Westcountry.
