Do or Die

Week 4 January 2002

Attendance: 970

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/8106/thefearsomebunsen.jpg

The Fearsome Bunsen enters the sports hall to his familiar type of home-made pyrotechnics. This time he has a cardboard box which is seemingly filled with some kind of firecrackers that he liberally hurls handfuls of around him resulting in lots of green smoke, loud bangs and a befrazzled looking Professor Bunsen.

“Welcome to Do or Die everyone. Never a more appropriate name for a show. Tonight I’m sure you’re all aware that we’re going to see the much-touted trio of Joey Beauchamp, Sharky George and our resident masked man in the ring together. All three men desperately want to win and I’ve no idea how things will turn out.

“Before that we’ll see the Velocity belt defended, the tag belts defended and a big showdown between the rival Richmond Mafia and Youth Explosion camps.

“There are a lot of frictions in HIW right now and tonight we’ll see them out in the open. It’s not easy controlling such dangerous, lawless fighters of course but as Archimedes said “Give me a lever and I will move the Earth”. HIW is that lever.”

Sergei Kalashnov performs another nail bitingly awful rap in his thick accent before his match with Leo Price.

“You may have many cash

And you may have lots money

But I came to UK for wictory

Not just because is sunny”

Throughout Leo stares at the would be beat-poet and smirks.

Sergei has some great moves and is all action, but Leo’s polished-smooth up-close skills means he can play this match like a chess-game. Sergei still makes it a match, but another attack from Leon Harrison allows Leo to take the win after a Price-Drop

Winner: Leo Price

The masked man enters the ring in his customary black robe accompanied by a similarly garbed man in white. The dark man claim he is ready to show his superiority to HIW’s supposed leading stars in the ring and no one will doubt his right to rule. And to help achieve that aim he has brought along an ‘old friend’ to partner him tonight. The man in white removes his hood to reveal he is The Demolition Druid – ex-21CW, ROF and MOSC champion Ali Bloxsome!

Leon Harrison cuts a promo before his title match with The Red Dragon. He looks extremely wide-eyed and chews on the inside of his cheek for some reason as he extols how much he enjoys living in Brighton. Leon also puts down Sergei as a common immigrant who doesn’t belong in HIW, let alone anywhere near the Velocity belt.

http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/5655/lucasdanger.jpgvshttp://img51.imageshack.us/img51/7482/reddragonp.jpg

The Red Dragon basically takes a beating here. Dragon always wears his heart on his sleeve fighting for Welsh pride, but Leon is in great form and manages a convincing win.

Winner: Leon Harrison

Leigh Burton is backstage checking his watch. He gives a swift promo saying Ricky Storm is unlikely to be able to show up tonight for his match due to the injuries sustained last week. Suddenly The Rejects (Pitbull Brown & The Damned) attack Leigh who goes down under a hail of punches, but a surprise appearance from Ricky Storm drives them away. Ricky tells the camera he’s violating doctor’s orders to be here, but he wouldn’t miss the chance to beat Rolling Johnny Stones for the world.

Sharky George is interviewed by the Fearsome Bunsen backstage about tonight’s match. Sharky doesn’t know why the match can’t be a fair fight for the title but he doesn’t care. His partner Jon “Captain Wrestling” Harrow will be the difference maker and he will take his belt back soon enough.

http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/1802/victorrodriguez.jpghttp://img6.imageshack.us/img6/7886/hugolopes.jpg

The Gypsy Prince Victor Rodriguez (with Hugo Lopes) talk briefly about their match tonight with handpicked opponents Double Dutch who (although they are yet to win in HIW) are deserving rivals. Victor also again talks of his contempt for Rolling Johnny Stones and Danny Patterson who have stuck their noses in Victor Hugo’s business on too many times.

Double Dutch were expected (by Victor Hugo) to be easy pickings here, but the two one Dutchmen were anything but. They used a large library of aerial impact moves to keep the champs off balance, but unfortunately a low-blow from Victor ended serious chances of a win.

Winner: Victor Hugo

Joey “The Breeze” Beauchamp addresses the crowd with his partner Fred Murray. Joey promises to beat all-comers tonight and shows a slip from the bookies that shows he has bet £5,000 on that outcome. He also promises to strip the stupid mask from that nutjob, bug****, mentalist masked man so the HIW fan can see who’s been spoiling their shows.

Rolling Johnny Stones and his band The Richmond Mafia play a song that focuses on Youth Explosion (Ricky Storm and Leigh Burton with Adam Matravers & Toby Juan Kenobi) and their ridiculous teenage tantrums.

“You’ve been busting my eardrum with all your whining

Let me tell you something ‘life isn’t fair’

There’s never been a better time than

tonight to settle it. It’s in the air”

Rolling Johnny Stones vs. Ricky Storm

http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/8650/johnnystones.jpgvshttp://img27.imageshack.us/img27/1640/rickystorm.jpg

Ricky is clearly not 100% for this match and it don’t help that the other members of the band and Youth Explosion all hang around at ringside. Ricky fights well but when Danny Patterson again gets involved whilst the ref is distracted by Pitbull brown it lets Stones set Ricky up for his Brainbuster.

Winner: Rolling Johnny Stones

A video plays on the HIW OHP detailing the history of the rivalry between Joey Beauchamp, Sharky George and the masked man. All the attacks are in there as well as highlight of the matches so far and Ali Bloxsome’s exploits from his non-HIW career.

55 C-

The Hustlers (Joey Beauchamp & Fred Murray) vs. Aussie Invasion (Sharky George & Jon Harrow) vs. the masked man & Ali Bloxsome

This is a bit of an epic with 6 men battling around the sports hall in various combinations. All 6 men get in a high amount of offense, but the defining moment comes as Sharky has Joey Beauchamp prone at his feet. Out of nowhere the 9non-legal) masked man launches himself in a suicidal dive from the turnbuckle to the floor of the sports hall to hit Sharky with a flying knee.

Both men go down very heavily before Joey is the first man to recover. Joey proceeds to hit a double DDT with the aid of Fred Murray on the isolated Ali Bloxsome and seals the win.

57 C-

After the match the Joey and Fred attempt to remove the mystery man’s mask, but he runs from the sports hall before they can remove it.

Firtly...

Apologies for my miserable photoshop/GIMP skills. Thought it would be fun to try and knock up some event logos, as we have 24 named shows. I know my work sucks, but it adds character to a cappy little UK promo that uses an OHP in a university gym. Doesnt it?

Secondly...

Thanks fo the predictions.

Zergon 3/5

Bgbuff 5/5 (!)

Nightshadeex 3/5

Bgbuff gets to pick a stipulation for one of the next show's matches. Or maybe a worker to try and sign. Or maybe a title shot. Let me know what you want and we'll sort it out.

HIW presents:

Scorch Comfort

http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/6853/hiwscorchcomfort.jpg

Joey Beauchamp vs. Jon Harrow (non-title)

Joey managed a great win over his biggest rivals last week and doesnt eem ken on agreeing to any more title matches. Jon Harrow is Sharky George's closest associate and will be sure to be looking for revenge. Will Sharky make an appearance? Can Joey keep wriggling out of trouble?

Sharky George vs ???

Sharky is getting very frustratd that his superior power and brawling hasn't won his 'title' back and is getting more and more violent. Who has demanded a match against him? Can he be stopped?

Leon H vs Adam Matravers fo the velocity title

The latest challenger for the velocity belt is a member of Youth Explosion and brings the aggression and energy that is their trademark. Leon is behaving increasingly erratically and seems very different from his former club-loving, Brighton-scene days. Can he hold it together? Will Sergei get involved?

Youth Explosion vs. The Rejects

These guys just keep wanting to kill each other. Can either side score a decisive victory? Cant they all just get along? Are the Richmond Mafia stcuk in the past, or are Youth Explosion just young and stupid?

Eastern Bloc (Sergei Kalshnov & Dolf Kernen) & Geordie Jimmy Morris vs The Foundation (Leo Price, Stevie Stoat & Jay B)

A Geordie and a Ukrainian? How will they be understood in the West Midlands? The HIW crowd tend to like larger matches, and Leo is putting a lot of money into his Foundation. Can they secure a strong win over tough opposition?

BGbuff - please let me know if you would like one of these matches to be a gimmick. The world is your oyster...

PS

I know this is an even worse event pic. Trust me - I am getting better, but this is slightly older...

Joey Beauchamp vs. Jon Harrow (non-title)

Harrow is too low on the card to go over champ no-matter what happens

Sharky George vs ???

Yes I´m going againt mystery man here. Sharky is one of your main guys so unless the mystery guy is some big name he will just lose here

Leon H vs Adam Matravers fo the velocity title

Matravers isn´t high enough on ladders to get a title and he has so far felt more like a tag team guy to me.

Youth Explosion vs. The Rejects

I know you like Storm and Burton se I expect them to do rather well:)

Eastern Bloc (Sergei Kalshnov & Dolf Kernen) & Geordie Jimmy Morris vs The Foundation (Leo Price, Stevie Stoat & Jay B)

I just like Foundation guys more

I find it difficult to bet against Adam.

Youth Explosion vs. The Rejects

I call draw here.

Scorch comfort

http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/6853/hiwscorchcomfort.jpg

Wk 2 January 2002

Attendance: 1,000 (!)

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/8106/thefearsomebunsen.jpg

The Fearsome Bunsen comes to the ring in what appears to be a serious mood. It’s a little unnerving to see him with no hint of green smoke or any loud noises.

“Ladies and gentlemen – welcome to Scorch Comfort. Tonight I’m afraid that we’re in sombre mood at HIW. We have a serious issue to investigate. Following last week’s show I received a note from the West Birmingham constabulary pertaining to one of our employees. Apparently there have been criminal charges raised against our ex-champion Sharky George. It pains me to say it but he is being accused of assault, assault with a deadly weapon, attempted bodily harm and affray. I also have a warrant for the masked man, but we cannot serve him until we locate him. And we certainly haven’t seen him since Do or Die.

“Sharky is in serious trouble, but as his concerned employer I have negotiated a one-time offer with the police. Based on my knowledge of the law (what can I say? I’m an academic!) I have invoked an old by-law that says Sharky can undergo trial by combat. The police have sent their representative and tonight Sharky and he will fight it out in this ring for justice.

61 C

At that point a police bike drives right into the arena with a policeman in helmet and shades on board. The policeman dismounts and makes his way into the ring before removing his paraphernalia to reveal... Keith Adams!

http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/5856/keithadams.jpg

40 D-

http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/6013/sharkygeorge.jpg

Sharky comes out to the ring to join Keith looking miffed. He grabs a mic and let forth a filthy rant against the police, Keith, Bunsen, HIW and England in general. He uses a great deal of Australian ‘agricultural’ language. He also takes the opportunity to promise to kill the masked man and again take Joey’s HIW belt.

Sharky George vs. Keith Adams in a Police Cell match

http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/6013/sharkygeorge.jpgvshttp://img84.imageshack.us/img84/5856/keithadams.jpg

This match is a bad-tempered brawl littered with Keith’s paraphernalia. In particular his truncheon and CS gas canister are effective and both men bleed from nasty wounds. The match ends when Sharky manages to handcuff Keith to a turnbuckle and lock in a sleeper. The match is stopped whilst Sharky continues to scream anti-police filth.

Winner: Sharky George

Adam Matravers (with Leigh Burton and Ricky Storm) cuts a promo claiming that his aerial style is tailor-made for defeating Leon and he will become the second member of Youth Explosion to hold the Velocity belt.

50 D+

Leon Harrison vs. Adam Matravers for the HIW Velocity title

http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/5655/lucasdanger.jpgvshttp://img806.imageshack.us/img806/9586/adammatravers.jpg

This is a spot-fest as both men are willing to sacrifice their bodies for victory. Unfortunately for Adam Leon’s greater experience shows and whilst Adam is distracted by a pretty girl in the audience for a second, he manages a quick roll-up for the win.

Winner: Leon Harrison

Eastern Bloc (Sergei Kalashnov & Dolf Kernen) and Geordie Jimmy Morris conduct an interview with the Fearsome Bunsen. All 3 men talk passionately about something but quite frankly no one has any idea what they’re going on about...

46 D

Eastern Bloc & Geordie Jimmy Morris vs. The Foundation

http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/6474/sergeikalashnovalt4.jpghttp://img97.imageshack.us/img97/1475/dolfkernen.jpghttp://img714.imageshack.us/img714/4456/geordiejimmymorris.jpgvshttp://img4.imageshack.us/img4/8251/leoprice.jpghttp://img820.imageshack.us/img820/8900/steviestoat.jpghttp://img692.imageshack.us/img692/4156/jaybr.jpg

The Foundation are clearly well drilled as they have spent so much time and money on their performance, but Eastern Bloc and Jimmy are a strangely effective outfit too. All 6 men get their chance but the end comes when Leo price, the most skilled individual on show manages to hit his Price Drop on Dolf Kernen.

Winners: Leo Price and the Foundation

A video plays on the OHP showing the past rivalry between Youth Explosion and the Richmond Mafia. There is a surprising amount of quality action to see.

The Richmond Mafia come on masse to ringside to support Pitbull and The Damned in the big showdown, and play a short song to the crowd.

65 C

Youth Explosion (Leigh Burton & Ricky Storm) vs. The Rejects (Pitbull Brown & The Damned)

The Mafia try to make this a farce, but apparently Keith wasn’t the only policeman in Aston tonight and his fellow Plods descend to keep the peace dragging the other members away. Danny Paterson in particular takes about 6 men to restrain him.

In the ring it’s a clash of four men that truly hate each other and this is vicious, no-holds-barred stuff. Eventually Ricky manages a half moment of clarity and he hits his awesome Storm bringer finisher from the turnbuckle on The Damned.

Winners: Leigh Burton & Ricky Storm

Joey “The Breeze” Beauchamp and his partner Fred Murray come to the ring to talk about their rivalry with Sharky George, Jon Harrow and the masked man. They reveal that the Fearsome Bunsen has granted a request to end this all next week and Joey will defend his title in a 3-way match between himself, Sharky and the masked man. If the others agree to the match then neither will get another title shot for 6 months, and if he loses the masked man will be forced to reveal his identity.

They do mention that it all hinges on Joey winning tonight, but he is 100% certain that he can defeat Jon Harrow as he’s just another uneducated Aussie hooligan.

Sharky come to ringside no doubt to interfere, but the local police also make sure they keep an eye on him and Sharky doesn’t get the opportunity. In the ring Joey perform a tour de force and appears to be in the form of his life as he uses a wide range of moves on Jon before pinning him cleanly in the centre of the ring.

Phew! Well that logo was damn sight better than the first version wasnt it? Told you I'm getting better.

PS if anyone can tell me where the event names come from (without Googling) I'll be very impressed...

Joey Beauchamp vs. Sharky George vs. masked man for the HIW UK title

The 2 losers wont get another chance at the title for at least 6 months and the masked man's identity will be revealed if he loses. Can Joey stand against two very determined men?

Leon Harrison vs. Sergei Kalashnov for the HIW Velocity title

Sergei has been desperate for this match and Leon is getting ever nastier. Will Dolf Kernen get involved? Will Sergei finally win the belt?

Victor Hugo vs. Rolling Johnny Stones & Danny Patteron for the HIW Tag titles

Tag champs vs dominant singles wrestlers. These two have smouldered at each other with a couple of attacks but this is the first time they have fought in the ring

The Rejects vs. ???

Fresh off losing to their great rivals, who will the Rejects have lined up?

Youth Explosion vs. Triple Dutch & Geodie Jimmy Morris

All 4 members of Youth Explosion take on Geordie Jimmy and his ongoing effort to team with ununderstandable accents. This could be a disaster...

Joey Beauchamp vs. Sharky George vs. masked man for the HIW UK title

I just don't see the Breeze picking up the loss here.

Leon Harrison vs. Sergei Kalashnov for the HIW Velocity title

I do see a belt switch here.

Victor Hugo vs. Rolling Johnny Stones & Danny Patteron for the HIW Tag titles

As much as I like good ole' Frank Burton, I think you like Victor Hugo... well, not as much as Ricky and Leigh, but enough.

The Rejects vs. ???

No idea.

Youth Explosion vs. Triple Dutch & Geodie Jimmy Morris

I won't be able to take Jimmy Morris seriously as long as he has that horrible picture.

I like both Van Anger and De Pain but I still go with Yout Explosion

Bolt, I just want you to know that I don't understand half the words you use. I guess I don't understand British English. And I'm a professor here in the States! Hahahahha.

Thanks chaps

Apologies about the colloquialisms Nighshade - my little corner of Surrey does sound fairly specific. Ill stick up a glossary

Nightshadeex 11</p><p>

bgbuff 5</p><p> </p><p>

Noone guessed the tag titles would go to Rolling Johnny Stones and Danny Patterson.</p><p> </p><p>

The again, I wish they hadn't as Danny promptly broke his ankle. Way to carry the tag titles boys.</p>

<p>Next time on HIW:</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Hustlers (Joey Beauchamp & Fred Murray) vs. Youth Explosion (Leigh Burton & Ricky Storm) vs. The Foundation (Leo Price & Stevie Stoat)</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Joey will rest from singles competition but plenty of teams are itching for a shot at his big name. Can Leo establish himself with a big win? Can Youth Experience actually manage back-to-back wins?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sharky George vs. ???</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Sharky has been hyping himself as a hardcore warrior so Bunsen has lined up a big name brawler for him to face in a gimmick match</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Leon Harrison vs. Dolf Kernen for the HIW Velocity title</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Sergei's partner Dolf is angry at Leon's underhand victory at Northern Lights. Can he get revenge? How will Sergei feel about that?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rolling Johnny Stones & ??? vs. Victor Hugo vs. Youth Explosion: TNG for the HIW tag titles</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Rolling Johnny Stones is the new tag champ but his partner Danny Patterson has injured himself. Will another member of his band step in? Can Victor claim the belts straight back?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sergei Kalashnov vs. Darren White</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Sergei gets a chance to redeem himself but The Fearsome Bunsen is insisting he will have to prove his worth again before a return match.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

In other news, we're now involved with a regional battle in the South (ie London) with MOSC and 21CW. This is exacerbated by being at war with 21CW (for fun). Will roster raiding become commonplace? Who have we already stolen from 21CW?</p><p> </p><p>

Answers on a postcard...</p>

I got YE on this one.

Sharky George vs. ???

Unless Sharky is on his way out, I see him picking up the win.

Leon Harrison vs. Dolf Kernen for the HIW Velocity title

No win for Dolf tonight.

Rolling Johnny Stones & ??? vs. Victor Hugo vs. Youth Explosion: TNG for the HIW tag titles

Nah, you got the Freebird Rule, no reason to hotshot the straps back.

Sergei Kalashnov vs. Darren White

The Hustlers (Joey Beauchamp & Fred Murray) vs. Youth Explosion (Leigh Burton & Ricky Storm) vs. The Foundation (Leo Price & Stevie Stoat)

Champ is kept strong here

Sharky George vs. ???

This one is hard since Sharky cannot challenge Joe and thus would be prime cantite to job future challenger but I´m not sure if this mystery guy is one shot deal (like Bloxsome) or if his big enough name to challenge Joe....oh well I guess I go with Sharky

Leon Harrison vs. Dolf Kernen for the HIW Velocity title

Nope Dolf isn´t getting the title either

Rolling Johnny Stones & ??? vs. Victor Hugo vs. Youth Explosion: TNG for the HIW tag titles

Even thogh Patterson is injured I don´t see title´s changing hands here

Sergei Kalashnov vs. Darren White

I have no idea who White even is

<p>yay! Best match ever, best angle ever (1st segment in the 70s for Joeys closing angle) and best show ever.</p><p> </p><p>

Hopefully that will put me top of the regional battle.</p><p> </p><p>

Steamroller needed a good start and picked up a strong win. I didnt really fancy him that much, but he was 21CW and poaching him hit them where it hurts. Hes a hardcore/brawler type with a lot of pop so he has an obvious opponent at HIW...</p>

Next time on HIW:

BLEED FOREVER

Joey Beauchamp vs. Victor Rodriguez for the HIW UK title

Victor is an accomplished singles fighter but does tend to have a big head. How will he stand up to the champ?

Sharky George vs. Fred Murray

Sharky vs Joey's partner. Will Sharky's bitternes and frustration end in disaster? Will Joey get involved? Is this just revenge?

Rolling Johnny Stones vs. Hugo Lopes

Tag champs Stones and Patterson have a beef with Victor Hugo but Danny is injured in hospital. Can Stones beat one of them in a singles match?

Leon Harrison, Jon Harrow & the Red Dragon vs. Sergei Kalashnov, Dolf Kernen & Geordie Jim Morris

Another Leon v Sergei showdown. Can Hardcore Geordie Jim even things out?

The Rejects & Double Dutch vs. Youth Explosion, Adam Matravers & ???

We've seen the Rejects lose to Youth Explosion before, but they've always bounced back. With Toby Juan Kenobi gone can the younger group find a replacement?

Joey Beauchamp vs. Victor Rodriguez for the HIW UK title

No contest here.

Sharky George vs. Fred Murray

Sharky will get another shot after six months are up.

Rolling Johnny Stones vs. Hugo Lopes

I think VH will get one win today.

Leon Harrison, Jon Harrow & the Red Dragon vs. Sergei Kalashnov, Dolf Kernen & Geordie Jim Morris

Could go either way, I'm betting against Jimmy Morris.

The Rejects & Double Dutch vs. Youth Explosion, Adam Matravers & ???

Sure, they'll find someone good.
