Youth Explosion (Leigh Burton & Ricky Storm) © vs. Street Gang (Danny Appleseed & Russell Nixon) for the HIW tag titles Joey Beauchamp challenged Leigh to a one on one match at Do or Die with any stipulation. Leigh will be responding to the challenge tonight and will want to make sure they retain momentum against two up-and-coming fighters. Sharky George © vs Pitbull Brown vs. De Oranje Dieren for the HIW Death-Proof title Sharky is of course the new Death-Proof champ but hasn’t defended the title since he electrocuted Bedlam last month. And now Darren of the ever-cheating Shortcuts has promised a run at the belt. Pitbull is of course a prime contender in a match where toughness is key and no one has any idea what the Orange Animal is doing or thinking. Dark Falcon © vs. Dolf Kernen for the HIW Velocity title Dark Falcon has been defending this title against low-level workers but Dolf (as Sergei’s partner) has some serious backing. Will Falcon be able to cling to his principles here? If allies get involved can Super Falcon still be relied upon? Double Dutch (Ruud van Anger & Frank de Pain) vs. The Melbourne Blondes (Rick Stantz & Blake Belushi) Two teams with a spotty record get a chance to position themselves well. Youth Explosion are battling The Hustlers for the tag titles but the other teams know chances abound and their time will come. Double Dutch vs. The Melbourne Blondes Ok I´m playing favorites here but this one is quite close on my opinion though I admit that Blondes probably have slight edge. The Foundation vs. Red&Jed I really like Red&Jed but so far they haven´t really got wins over anyone but jobbers and until they do I have to predict against them on these big matches. He’s had 140 matches and won 81 of them. He held the HIW Championship from 01 to 02 when he lost to Sharky George. He also held the Tag titles for 14 matches with Fred Murray in 03/04. Joey is a lightweight with a cruiserweight-style. The two men seem to have some ideological issues and English and Scots teams are always prickly. Having investigated a little it appears to me that when Sharky George threw Bedlam into that generator he was changed. Obviously it was damaging and the poor man has been really hurt but it also connected something. With the champ distracted Pitbull goes after Dieren but Sharky notices in time to make the save. After that Sharky appears a little reinvigorated and manages to hit his feared Shark Attack on Dieren which is good enough for the win. Before that match with Sharky I was a terrible monster. Now I'm still a terrible monster. ZAP! But worse. "I'm electric, I'm magnetic and I'm fully charged. ZAP!" We’ve seen the new Bedlam and how he was changed and we’re not impressed. However Dolf is a slippery chap after all that time with Sergei Kalashnov and uses some dirty tactics to turn things his way. Unfortunately for both men Super Falcon then reappears. Pursued at high speed by the electrified Bedlam. The blue-clad crimefighter enters the ring and its clear that they are planning to try and get Dolf involved with the scuffle. However with that sort of chaos the ref is forced to ring the bell for an abandonment. Not that anyone really notices as the Falcons hit a lovely slingshot on Bedlam before legging it. Especially as I’m sure he’ll be tricksy but Victor is at least an honourable man and I wanted to give you all a match to remember. If only the Irish fans really knew them well then this would be a classic but as it is the more discerning fans see a titanic struggle as both men go near to securing wins by pinfall as well as submission (Victor being an exponent). Unfortunately the event is a little marred by the gust commentator – Sergei Kalashnov – who spends the whole match denigrating the Dragon unfairly. As the fans know though it takes more than words to get under their hero’s skin and Dragon manfully responds with a deliberate focus on Victor’s knee that leads to a beautiful modified figure-four lock and Victor tapping. Winner: UK Dragon by pinfall C After the match the two men shake hands and the fans are vocal in their support of the Dragon… Until he is slammed hard in the back of the head by a chair. Sergei has entered the ring and assaulted the champ. Dragon of course is tough and leaps back up but Sergei is immediately joined by British Samurai and Dolf Kernen and the brave Dragon is drowned by flailing fists and that chair. With odds like that a match is never going to go well especially against such experienced and canny heads as The Foundation. Pretty soon poor Pitbull is bludgeoned down, bloody but unbroken as his attackers laugh amongst themselves but try as they might they can’t quite pin him as he summons strength to break pinfalls. As technical men Price and Stoat switch to submission attempts but Pitbull lives up to his own legend by taking the pain and not giving in. In the end Kathleen instructs her team and Leo pins Stevie before all three Foundation members celebrate over the battered but proud body of Pitbull. The more desperate and rough Falcon swings in and absolutely clobbers Bedlam with the weight sending the big fella to the floor seemingly seriously hurt. Barnes is still an impressive guy and he does fight back well but once Samurai attaches his Secret Samurai Stretch Petey is forced to tap out. Unfortunately the Death-proof champ can’t do it alone and the Shortcuts frequent tags mean that an exhausted Sharky is barely able to escape a 2count. Once Rick Stantz comes in again he’s overawed though and Jay B manages to sneak a surprise pin with some interference from his mates. But as soon as the bell rings both men ignore it and go straight after each other. The match moves around fast but both men get enough wind to go for the ladder before Joey hits Leigh with it full in the face and manages to retrieve the phone. As predicted though he isn’t that quick with sending SMS messages and Leigh has enough time to recover and stop the message. Joey gets another chance after a Leigh head-butt takes him out and this time manages to press send. But no sign from Fred of the message. Joey must have messed it up. That deflates Beauchamp a bit and Leigh manages to get back in the match hitting a picture perfect suplex on to the folded ladder that allows him enough time to key in the message (noticeably faster than Joey) and send it. This time there’s no mistake and Ricky holds up his own phone to signal success. The Dragon is stalwart and seems confident but Sergei has his own fans and doesn’t seem out of place at all here. The match rages all round and outside the ring well past 20 minutes as both men try to wear each other down and find room for the killer move but the real tipping point doesn’t come from either man. It comes from Sergei’s ally British Samurai when UK Dragon is setting up for a huge leap from the top rope. Samurai hauls on Dragon’s leg causing him to crash down onto the turnbuckle awkwardly but the champ being the champ he springs up gamely and confronts his erstwhile friend Samurai. Which is when Sergei strikes. The Belarusian is subtle, sneaky and an opportunist and takes the moment to hit his Eastern Block on UK Dragon for the upset win. This show was a slightly strange one. Bedlam is getting more entangled with the Falcons. The SHortcuts bizarrely might be credible challengers to Sharky. Poor Joey doesnt know why he lost the Mobile Match, we have a brand new champ and TNG have helped UK Dragon out for some reason... Grades were average but saved somewhat by the main event. We're holding steady in the Midlands but rising fast everywhere else and making cash. Heavy Metal vs. The Nadir Not much is known about the Nadir but their opponents certainly sound intimidating. Heavy Metal are not an existing team, theyre both young and English and both big men. Emerald Angel vs. Danny Appleseed vs. Phil Cooper Angel has a great range of t-shirts but hasnt won many matches. Danny is tealented but raw. Phil Cooper is wrestling for cash for the fitst time ever.
