TWL 6 Feet Under is just around the corner and is the final show before a TWL signature event, Hoedown. Here are the announced matches:

Tag Team Titles: Floyd 'F-Bomb' Bowman/'American Made' Johnny Boy Tucker v. Black Serpent Cult (Cobra/Viper) ©

Last show, Bowman convinced Tucker to trust him. Will their rocky friendship last after they face the tag team champions?

Rampage v. TimberWolf

Professor Nero has decreed that his former protege Rampage face his disobidient lackey, TimberWolf. What does the Professor have in store for this one?

Mean Mark Green v. Luis Reyes

The struggle between Texas' finest and the Reyes clan continues.

'Perfect' Pat Deacon v. Mayhem Midden

Perfect Pat takes a break from facing Nero's Disciples. But Rip Chord's bodyguard has a chip on his shoulder after losing to Mean Mark. Who will come out on top?

Rip Chord v. The Executioner

I've lost track which Executioner is which. This is one of them (and not the Krogan one)!

Plus, Prophet finally reveals who 'He' is!

Id love to guess who it is, but I dont know the 77 c-verse well enough. Dread maybe?

November, 1977

Well, Mrs. Referee Billy went to the doctor today. The pregnancy is going well, although the doctor didn't have much to tell us. I really wish there was some way he could let us know whether it is going to be a boy or girl!

My wife pores over the name guide every day. She still likes Annie and Thom (shortened from Thomas to differentiate the kid from her father - Thomas) while I'm stuck on Maggie (shortened from Margaret) and William Jr.

The neighbors are spending more time scouting for a name than we are!

OOC: I'll be posting the show either this afternoon or evening.

Tag Team Title Match: Floyd ‘F-Bomb’ Bowman/‘American Made’ Johnny Boy Tucker w/Shannon v. Black Serpent Cult (Cobra/Viper)

Billy’s Take: Bowman and Tucker came out first, F-Bomb flipping the bird at the audience while his partner walked to the ring much more confidently than in the past several weeks. Shannon, meanwhile, trailed a few steps behind Tucker, obviously upset at her boyfriend’s recent reconciliation with Bowman. The champions entered next, clearly excited to wrestle a match without facing the enigmatic Prophet and dismissively walking by a sign that read “I miss the Shaman.” The match went back and forth with the champs clearly the more experienced team but Bowman and Tucker clicking on some subconscious level to match the Cult move for move. Just when it appeared that the tide had turned in favor of the champions, the Prophet slowly wandered to the ring from the backstage area, trembling in a trance-like state. This momentary distraction was all that the team of Bowman and Tucker needed as Johnny Boy hit Viper with a Power Lariat, handing the Cult their first tag team loss here in TWL and giving Tucker and Bowman the tag team championships.

After the match, Tucker was elated, proudly hoisting his championship title (his first in TWL) in the air and celebrating enthusiastically with Bowman. Shannon merely looked on from the arena floor and softly shook her head at Johnny Boy.

Rampage v. TimberWolf w/Professor Nero

Billy’s Take: Professor Nero came out with TimberWolf, refusing to acknowledge the psychotic Rampage. For his part, Rampage seemed unconcerned about Nero, taking out his anger on Nero’s canine protégé instead. He brutalized TimberWolf, throwing him around the ring like a rag doll. He ended it with the Silent Death, the rear-naked choke forcing TimberWolf into unconsciousness.

Professor Nero jumped on the ring apron, holding his cane aloft as if to brain Rampage. But a second painted man, apparently named Machete, emerged from the back and slowly walked toward Nero. Professor Nero squealed and half-pulled/half-dragged TimberWolf backstage, keeping a wary eye on the duo of Rampage and Machete. C

Mean Mark Green v. Luis Reyes

Billy’s Take: All three Reyes’ came out to the ring and, as always, the two not in the match had to return to the back. Mean Mark came out with the Trailer Park Kid and whispered something to TPK before the latter returned backstage as well. This was a very good match, once again demonstrating the potential of Luis (Montero) Reyes. Unfortunately for young Luis, he made a few rookie mistakes and Mean Mark took advantage. As Green set up Reyes for the Outlaw Driver, Don Juan and Carlos Reyes ran back to the ring. When they both slid in, I immediately called for the disqualification, awarding the match to Mean Mark.

The Reyes continued their assault on Mean Mark Green. Luis hit a jumping piledriver that shook the ring. His brothers followed that up with a devastating Double Fence Hop Legdrop. Trailer Park Kid charged back to the ring to save Mean Mark Green, Floyd ‘F-Bomb’ Bowman just a few steps behind. The Texas Outlaws cleared the ring of the Border Runners, although clearly the damage was done as Mean Mark Green lay crumpled in the middle of the ring, barely able to raise his ‘hook ‘em horns’ handsign as his partners tried to help him up. ‘Perfect’ Pat Deacon w/Major W.G. Reginald III v. Mayhem Midden

Billy’s Take: Midden came out first, cracking his knuckles and generally looking menacing. Rip Chord did not accompany him to ringside, but I suppose Rip must’ve been preparing for his upcoming title match. Perfect Pat and Major Reginald came out next, both waving white towels above their heads to rile up the crowd. Unfortunately, their entrances may have been the highlight of the match, as Deacon and Midden just didn’t click in the ring. Midden overpowered Deacon and actually controlled the early part of the match. Then Professor Nero slowly made his way to the ring. I watched him warily, assuming that he would interject himself in the match. But the nefarious Nero was apparently content with mockingly urging Deacon on, repeatedly encouraging him to embrace the darkness. Whether because of Nero or in spite of him, Deacon ended the match shortly thereafter, locking Midden in the Cobra Clutch for the win.

‘Perfect’ Pat Deacon took a microphone after his match, Major W.G. Reginald III standing with an approving look on his face. “Professor Nero, you may think you outsmarted me you snide b*stard. You may think you’ve ended my quest and got inside my head, ending my tag match against the Lords of War by hitting those big dumb punks in the head with your cane. But all you’ve done is rile me up. If you think I’m done with you Nero, you are sorely mistaken.” C-

The Executioner came out for his title match against Rip Chord, Mayhem Midden still in the ring shaking the cobwebs out after being put down by the Cobra Clutch. Rip dismissively glanced at Midden and snorted at a sign that read, “The Executioner Rips the Chord!” before taking the microphone. “Cute, real cute…Rips the Chord. Anyway, last show, Mayhem Midden misunderstood the intentions of Rip Chord. Rip Chord wants Krogan unmasked and embarrassed. Rip Chord doesn’t need to win by countout…that is not nearly embarrassing enough for the so-called Southern Legend. Tonight Rip Chord will take the Executioner’s mask, take his manhood, and take his identity. Tonight Rip Chord ends this farce.”B-

TWL Title Match: The Executioner v. Rip Chord © w/Mayhem Midden

Billy’s Take: The Executioner (a smaller, non-Krogan version) kept a step ahead of Rip at the beginning of the match, obviously frustrating the champion. But Chord’s amazing in-ring ability allowed him to turn the tide of the match. Shortly thereafter, he connected with a stiff-looking Rip Chord DDT for the win. After I counted to three, Rip stood over the defeated Executioner for a moment before reaching down and ripping the yellow and black mask from his face and kicking him hard in the nose, sending a spurt of blood shooting onto the ring mat. It obviously was not Krogan under the hood and Rip roared in anger. He picked up the false Executioner one more time and planted him with a second brutal Rip Chord DDT and then stomped backstage, Midden on his heels.

The Prophet emerged, his eyes showing only the whites, chanting softly, and carrying a pot of burning incense. As he slipped into the ring, he put down the smoking pot and took the microphone. “Blessed are ye, O children of the light! For this evening He returns! He comes to cleanse the sins of the fallen and scourge this place of the foul stench of wickedness.” He again began to chant softly, gradually getting louder and louder. As he reached a near-fever pitch, the arena lights dimmed and smoke began to fill the entrance ramp. Slowly a figure emerged from the haze.

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/ChiefTwoEagles1977_alt.jpg

It was Chief Two Eagles! Chief Two Eagles has returned to TWL! The Chief looked much more serious and focused than in the past, when he was essentially a fun babyface. “I have been to hell and back,” Chief began in a slow, deep voice. “I have seen the darkest part of man’s eternal soul. My spirit guide traveled with me. But he was not an eagle, he was a snake. A bright red snake. Tonight I return to you reborn. I am the Warrior Chief, the Eagle Prince, the Crimson Serpent.” C

Ok, I'd kill to have Dread on my roster, but he's still a few years from debuting. And yes, Pat Deacon IS the ugliest man in the C-Verse.

Oh, and 4/5.

Plan A was The Shaman. Problem is that owner goals won't allow workers over 35 (last time he was here on a talent trade and now he's unemployed).

GREAT show AJ but damn I only got one prediction right. At any rate business is about to pick up can't wait to see whats next

In fact, business *is* about to pick up. Must be my WCW upbringing (with Starrcade being *the* big one) but December's 2nd show is shaping up to be a game-changer.

TWL Hoedown, an event composed entirely of 3-on-3 matches, is right around the corner. Here are the advertised matches!

Chief Two Eagles/Prophet/Red Falcon v. Black Serpent Cult/TimberWolf

The Black Serpent Cult just lost the tag team titles and are looking for retribution. But Chief Two Eagles is born anew. Who will previal?

The Lone Star Stampeder/The Executioners v. Lords of War/Rampage

Nero's ex(??)stable members Warlord Agony, Warlord Pain, and Rampage face off against the masked tandem of the Executioners and TWL owner Lone Star Stampeder.

Texas Outlaws (Floyd Bowman/Mean Mark Green/Trailer Park Kid) v. Border Runners (Carlos/Don Juan/Luis Reyes)

There is a good feud brewing between the Texas Outlaws and Border Runners. But Bowman has been distracted of late with his tag team partner Johnny Boy Tucker while the Reyes' have been on a roll. Who will emerge victorious?

The Executioner/Johnny Boy Tucker/Pat Deacon v. Rip Chord/Mayhem Midden/Professor Nero

Rip Chord has promised to unmask the Executioner. Will his drive upset the team's chances of winning the matches? Or will Deacon's singular focus on Nero distract Perfect Pat and cost his team the win?

2 Birds has to win on his debut. He should be a good guy to watch

The Lone Star Stampeder/The Executioners v. Lords of War/Rampage

I like Rampage more and more. And Machete looks cool. Nice render. He'll be involved

Texas Outlaws (Floyd Bowman/Mean Mark Green/Trailer Park Kid) v. Border Runners (Carlos/Don Juan/Luis Reyes)

F-Bomb and Green have too much about them to lose this

The Executioner/Johnny Boy Tucker/Pat Deacon v. Rip Chord/Mayhem Midden/Professor Nero

TWL Hoedown

Irvine Hall (Mid-South)

November 1977

Attendance: 3,099

The newly returned Chief Two Eagles, came down to the ring. Gone was his inane hand-slapping, smiling persona, replaced by a world-weary and focused Warrior. His partners for the match, the gyrating Prophet and small, energetic Red Falcon, followed a few steps behind. The Black Serpent Cult and their partner and his manager, TimberWolf with Professor Nero, came out next. The Cult approached slowly, their burlap sack writhing and wriggling energetically. B-

Chief Two Eagles/Prophet/Red Falcon v. Black Serpent Cult (Cobra/Viper)/TimberWolf w/Professor Nero

Billy’s Take: Prophet and TimberWolf started off and went back and forth. But when TimberWolf went to tag in Cobra, the Black Serpent Cult member refused, insisting that Red Falcon be tagged in. Once Falcon entered, Cobra gladly slid into the ring. When Prophet or Chief Two Eagles came in, the Black Serpent Cult instantly tagged out, wanting nothing to do with either Prophet or Chief. This made for a slightly disjointed match. In the end, TimberWolf fell prey to a Tomahawk Chop from the second rope from Chief Two Eagles to give the face team the victory.

After the match, Chief Two Eagles stared hard at TimberWolf, causing him and Professor Nero to hastily flee the ring. Chief then turned his gaze to the Black Serpent Cult, who stood statue-still. Chief Two Eagles walked slowly past the former tag team champions and picked up their burlap sack. He reached in and pulled out the writhing mass. But instead of a black serpent, it was a deep red in color. Chief Two Eagles raised it above his head and took a microphone. “The Black Serpent Cult is dead. It goes into the spirit world to rest. In its place, just as I was, the Cult is reborn. Welcome my children. Welcome Crimson Serpent Cult!” Cobra and Viper dropped to their knees, prone in front of the radiant Chief Two Eagles. Chief brushed his hand lightly on each of their heads, imploring them to stand. The four men, Chief Two Eagles, Prophet, and the Crimson Serpent Cult (Cobra and Viper) stood and left to the back together. C+

The Lone Star Stampeder/The Executioners v. Lords of War/Rampage

Billy’s Take: Stampy and the Executioners came out first. When the Lords of War and Rampage, sans their former manager Professor Nero, came out, they attacked their opponents with remarkable brutality. Once I had a chance to start the match and limit this to two men in the ring, the match seesawed back and forth. In the end, the appearance of Machete, Rampage’s new associate, sealed the deal for the heels as he distracted one of the Executioners just long enough to allow the Lords of War to hit the War Machine for the win.

‘American Made’ Johnny Boy Tucker came out to the ring with the Texas Outlaws, holding Shannon by the arm. He motioned for her to follow the rest of the Outlaws to the ring and that he was headed to the backstage area to get ready for his match. Shannon looked apprehensive, but Tucker insisted. Shannon resignedly followed Floyd Bowman, Mean Mark Green, and the Trailer Park Kid down to the ring. C+

Texas Outlaws (Floyd ‘F-Bomb’ Bowman/Mean Mark Green/Trailer Park Kid) w/Shannon v. Border Runners (Carlos Reyes/Don Juan Reyes/Luis Reyes)

Billy’s Take: The Outlaws dominated this match when either Carlos or Don Juan faced off against the veteran duo of Green and Bowman. The weak link for the Outlaws was clearly the Trailer Park Kid while Luis Reyes held his own against any of the Outlaws. Much of the story of this match, however, took place just outside the ring where Don Juan Reyes seemed far more interested in wooing Shannon than in fighting. His flirting was way over the top as he tried to kiss her hand and rub her shoulders. As usual, Shannon simply smiled shyly, even as Floyd Bowman and the Trailer Park Kid had to constantly jump down from the ring apron to keep Don Juan at bay. In the end, the frustrated Border Runners all slid into the ring to attack Mean Mark Green. I tried to convince them to leave the ring, but they ignored my please. I had to call for the bell and the disqualification, awarding the match to the Texas Outlaws.

Professor Nero came out to the ring with a microphone. “Perfect Pat Deacon,” he purred into the microphone while absent-mindedly running his thumb over the makeshift bag of treasures (Deacon’s blood-stained towel, Trailer Park Kid’s cigarettes, and Lone Star Stampeder’s tin star) slung over his shoulder. “I have witnessed a transformation these past weeks. I have seen you accept your anger and face your fears. You may not understand, but Perfect Pat you are getting closer to being…me! So tonight, Perfect Pat, finish what you started. For I will not face you in single combat until you can embrace the madness!” Suddenly Nero’s facial expression changed and a childlike grin spread across his face. “Embrace the madness, drive away the sadness,” he began in a sing-songy voice. “Red hat, blue hat, my hat, dead cat,” he finished as his partners, Rip Chord and Mayhem Midden, made their way to the ring. The Executioner/‘American Made’ Johnny Boy Tucker/‘Perfect’ Pat Deacon w/Major W.G. Reginald III v. Rip Chord/Mayhem Midden/Professor Nero

Billy’s Take: The overarching story of this match was that the heels couldn’t work together. Rip seemed angry at Midden. And neither of them wanted anything to do with the psychotic, giggling Nero who spent the match taunting Deacon but refusing to step into the ring against him. As a result, the heels tagged in and out only sporadically and refused to help one another with double teams or other typically heelish moves. The babyfaces demonstrated much more teamwork, fluidly tagging in and out, allowing them to isolate particular opponents and control the match. In the end, it was the Krogan-esque Executioner connecting with the Power Lariat on Mayhem Midden to give his team the victory as neither of Midden’s partners even tried to break up the pinfall.

Rip Chord took a microphone, staring at the fallen form of Mayhem Midden. “That seals it then,” Rip growled, “all the proof Rip needs is right there in a miserable heap. Pathetic.” Rip went to throw down the microphone when a figure very familiar to the TWL faithful, The Night Rider, walked down to the ring, staring intently at Chord every step of the way. He slid into the ring next to the still-prone body of Mayhem Midden. The Night Rider pulled Mayhem to his feet, helping him shake off the cobwebs. Midden looked relieved that the Night Rider was there and held his hand up for a high five. The Night Rider took the proffered hand and grabbed it tightly. Then he kicked Midden hard in the stomach, forcing Mayhem to double over in pain. The Night Rider set up Midden in position for a piledriver, but Rip Chord pushed him aside. Rip and the Night Rider stared down one another for a long moment before Chord hooked Midden in a front facelock and sent him crashing to the mat with a devastating Rip Chord DDT.

“Now Rip’s sure all of you pathetic creatures are wondering why Rip just DDT’ed Mayhem Midden. Not that you deserve an answer, but Rip’s feeling giving tonight. Mayhem Midden is a mole. A turncoat. A traitor. He’s headed back…north….very soon and apparently has been in their pocket since the get-go. It all makes sense now, don’t it? Rip had to help Midden beat Mean Mark and Midden kept ****ing up every time he had a chance to unmask that damned Executioner. How’s it feel Mayhem Midden? How’s it feel you ****ing traitor?” Rip laid into Midden, brutally attacking his former bodyguard while the Night Rider stood impassively to one side. “With this little problem taken care of, Rip’s just got one more little problem. That damned yellow and black masked ***hole is still runnin’ around my company! Rip Chord don’t make New Year’s resolutions, but does like to start the New Year off fresh. At the Year’s End Spectacular, Rip wants the ban on Mark Krogan lifted. No more games, Krogan. No more mask to hide behind. At the Spectacular, you and Rip’ll find out once and for all who the better man truly is.” B- (attack) B- (explanation)

Chief Two Eagles/Prophet/Red Falcon v. Black Serpent Cult/TimberWolf

The Lone Star Stampeder/The Executioners v. Lords of War/Rampage

Texas Outlaws (Floyd Bowman/Mean Mark Green/Trailer Park Kid) v. Border Runners (Carlos/Don Juan/Luis Reyes)

The Executioner/Johnny Boy Tucker/Pat Deacon v. Rip Chord/Mayhem Midden/Professor Nero

3/4 correct. As you can see, the main event went as it did for somewhat external reasons (Midden is a prick).

Chief Two Eagles/Prophet/Red Falcon v. Black Serpent Cult/TimberWolf

The Lone Star Stampeder/The Executioners v. Lords of War/Rampage

Texas Outlaws (Floyd Bowman/Mean Mark Green/Trailer Park Kid) v. Border Runners (Carlos/Don Juan/Luis Reyes)

The Executioner/Johnny Boy Tucker/Pat Deacon v. Rip Chord/Mayhem Midden/Professor Nero

3/4. Same as Bolt on reasoning. There was a lot of star power on the heel side in the main event, but they had to lose to get rid of Midden.

Chief Two Eagles/Prophet/Red Falcon v. Black Serpent Cult/TimberWolf

The Lone Star Stampeder/The Executioners v. Lords of War/Rampage

Texas Outlaws (Floyd Bowman/Mean Mark Green/Trailer Park Kid)v.

The Executioner/Johnny Boy Tucker/Pat Deacon v. Rip Chord/Mayhem Midden/Professor Nero

2/3? Couldn't tell who you liked in the Outlaws/Border Runners match.

From the Notebook of Referee Billy

Only two more shows remain in 1977 for the Texas Wrestling League. Before the big finale at Year End Showdown, the TWL will hold TWL Dangerous Ground. The following matches have been advertised:

'American Made' Johnny Boy Tucker w/Shannon v. Luis Reyes

The Border Runners, particularly Luis' brother Don Juan Reyes, have been thorns in the side of Johnny Boy Tucker and his lady friend, Shannon. How will Tucker react being in the ring with the youngest Reyes one-on-one?

No Holds Barred: The Executioners v. Painted Paranoia (Machete/Rampage)

The new team of Machete and Rampage are admittedly psychotic. Do the Executioners have enough tricks up their sleeves, urm, masks, to fend off the crazed painted men?

Crimson Serpent Cult (Cobra/Viper) v. Border Runners (Carlos Reyes/Don Juan Reyes)

The recently turned Crimson Serpent Cult looks to get back on the winning track against a strong Border Runners team that has to be considered top contenders for the TWL tag team titles.

Chief Two Eagles v. TimberWolf w/Professor Nero

Chief looks like the obvious choice, but Professor Nero is always a wildcard when he's at ringside.

'Perfect' Pat Deacon/Mark Krogan v. Rip Chord/Professor Nero

Bad blood all around in this match. Can Chord and Nero work together? Will Deacon stay focused on winning the match when all he wants to do is wring Nero's neck? And how rusty is Mark Krogan? Can he overcome a few months out of the ring against the potentially powerful team of Rip and Nero?

I have to say I'm glad Midden is gone. I just don't like the guy and wasn't buying him as a main eventer. Another very good show man as you push down the stretch here. I'm excited to see where things head now that the "fat" has been trimmed.

Like you, I wasn't terribly upset to see him go. He was intended as a gatekeeper jobber-to-the-stars, but evolved into a somewhat one-dimensional bodyguard. I'm still working on what to do with the Night Rider. I don't want him to be seen as Mayhem Midden II, but am still trying to figure out how to differentiate him despite the obvious similarities.

Maybe have Night-Rider as a mercenary type character. Works for anybody, as long as they pay.

Yeah sadly thats what I saw him as instantly was MMII so its going to be tough to break him out of that mold since as you said their SO similar. Either way I'm excited for the next show don't make me wait AJ!!!
