UFC news

  • Mark Munoz returned to Light Heavyweight, and is set to face Pat Barry, who will make his Light Heavyweight debut, at UFC 120.
  • Due to the lack of depth in heavyweights, Tom Blackledge, a 205'er will be making his UFC debut at UFC 121 in the heavyweight division, as he takes on Todd Brown, another Light Heavyweight bulking up for a heavyweight fight.
  • Furthermore in the heavyweight division, Tim Hague has been given another shot in the UFC, as he has signed a new contract, with the current rumors saying he'll be taking on TUF 10 competitor James McSweeney at UFC 120 in London, England.
  • In other weight changes, after consecutive losses to Evan Dunham and Takanori Gomi, Tyson Griffin has moved up to welterweight, where he feels he'll be more comfortable, he'll more than likely take on Rick "The Horror" Story.
  • Other signings made by the UFC include Canadian welterweight Ryan Ford, heavyweights Eddie Sanchez, Aleksander Emelianenko and Jae Young Kim, undefeated Strikeforce lightweight Christian Uflacker
  • UFC 120 has been announced to take place in London, England and looks to be headlined by Michael Bisping Vs Chris Leben and a British welterweight clash between Dan Hardy and the undefeated John Hathaway.
  • In another bid to bolster the heavyweight division, UFC has been reported to be in negotiations with Dutch Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem.
  • Another rumored signing is legendary former UFC Welterweight champion and owner of Miletich Fighting Systems Pat Miletich.
  • Georges St. Pierre is rumored to be defending his Welterweight championship at either UFC 121 or 122, more than likely against Josh Koscheck.

  • 4 weeks later...

http://img574.imageshack.us/img574/7555/ufc121.png

November 6th live from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California

Main Event - UFC Heavyweight Championship

Brock Lesnar (5-1, 4-1 UFC) vs Cain Velasquez (8-0, 6-0 UFC)

The champ Brock Lesnar takes on undefeated Cain Velasquez, who is looking to become the first Mexican American heavyweight champion in any contact sport, who will be the winner? My money's on the fans.

Co-Main Event - Light Heavyweight Division

Lyoto Machida (16-1, 8-1 UFC) vs Quinton Jackson (30-8, 5-2 UFC)

Two top light heavyweights, coming off recent big time losses, looking to pave the way for another shot at the title.

Lightweight Division

Gray Maynard (10-0, 8-0 UFC) vs Sean Sherk (32-4-1, 7-4 UFC)

Undefeated Maynard takes on veteran Sean Sherk, with a win almost guaranteeing him a title shot.

Middleweight Division

Yushin Okami (25-5, 9-2 UFC) vs Alessio Sakara (15-7, 6-4 UFC)

Nearly 5 years since Yushin Okami defeated Anderson Silva, who has since gone on to get a 13 fight winning streak, this Japanese fighter looks to get in contention for a rematch, and a shot at the title.

Heavyweight Division

Junior Dos Santos (12-1, 6-0 UFC) vs Alistair Overeem (33-11, 0-0 UFC)

It was confirmed at the UFC 120 post-match press conference, Alistair Overeem has signed with the UFC, and is set to take on JDS, who so far is undefeated in the UFC, the winner probably facing a title shot, or a match with "Minotauro" Nogueira to determine a number one contender.

Preliminary fights

Welterweight Division: Amilcar Alves (11-2, 0-1 UFC) vs Ryan Ford (11-2, 0-0 UFC)

Middleweight Division: Ed Herman (15-8, 4-5 UFC) vs Mike Massenzio (11-4, 1-2 UFC)

Heavyweight Division: Mark Hunt (5-6, 0-0 UFC) vs Ben Rothwell (31-7, 1-1 UFC)

Welterweight Division: Kris McCray (5-1, 0-1 UFC) vs Ricardo Funch (7-2, 0-2 UFC)

Lightweight Division: Charles Oliveira (13-0, 1-0 UFC) vs Thiago Tavares (14-3-1, 4-3-1 UFC)

Light Heavyweight Division: Alexander Gustafsson (9-1, 1-1 UFC) vs Kyle Kingsbury (8-2, 1-1 UFC)

  • UFC 123 looks to head back to Nevada, although the main event as of now is still unknown, expected fights however are either the Light Heavyweight championship fight between Mauricio Rua and Rashad Evans, or a middleweight bout between Anderson Silva and either Nate Marquardt or Vitor Belfort.
  • More Australians are on the payroll, as Rawdon Lee, a 30 year old Light Heavyweight with a 1-0 pro record has signed with the UFC.
  • After recently losing the WEC title, many people are expecting Jose Aldo to debut in the UFC soon, as he has no real reason to stay in the WEC now.
  • Former TUF contestant Cameron Dollar has reportedly signed a new contract with the UFC.
  • For the first time since 2000, and the first time in ZUFFA's history, UFC is heading to Japan as UFC 124 goes to Tokyo!
  • A similar face from that last Japanese card (UFC 29) is looking to be on the card in Chuck Liddell.

Results around the world

Main events from the top 10 organizations, as well as title matches.

  • America: For those who thought Werdum might've gotten lucky (let's face it, not a lot of you did), it really looks to be Fedor's downfall, as he got TKO'd in the 3rd round by Antonio Silva; in UFC's sister organization WEC, Wagnney Fabiano was the man to succesfully submit champion Jose Aldo and win the WEC Featherweight championship. On their CBS special, Gilbert Melendez succesfully defended his lightweight title against KJ Noons; and on WEC Wrekcage Benson Henderson submitted Anthony Pettis within 2 minute to retain his Lightweight championship.
  • Japan: Alexandre Ribeiro remained undefeated after defeating Ryo Kawamura for the WVR Light Heavyweight title; on the same card, Satoshi Ishii defeated Henry Miller to become Heavyweight champion; Katsunori Kikuno took By Kyung Jung to a unanimous decision, for a succesful defense of his DEEP Lightweight title; on a televised DREAM card, Bibiano Fernandes retained his Featherweight title against Hiroyuki Takaya, and Tae Hyun Lee defeated Ikuhisa Minowa to win the Heavyweight title.
  • Canada: Ryan Jimmo and Dean Lister were both succesful in winning their matches, and the Light Heavyweight and Middleweight titles, respectively.
  • South America: Jamil Silveira defeated Mauro Chimento Jr. by Unanimous Decision to win the JF Welterweight title.
  • United Kingdom: In his promotional debut, Jeremy Bailey defeated Tim Radcliffe to become the new UC UK Lightweight champion.
