For Terrence Grayson, that show and specifically that fight was the catalyst that started IFC. The 30 year old Canadian from Quinte West, Ontario had been in California working as a voice over artist for Macrosofts latest RPG epic and was invited to see the show by some of his colleagues. They all sat after the show discussing it and as the beers flowed, Terrence decided he could do a better job. Times had been good to Grayson and he had a fair bit of cash stashed away and over the next few weeks he sent out some feelers to up and coming fighters to join his new company and soon had 31 fighters. These fighters ranged from 18-24 years of age and each fighter had racked up a win in their first and only fight.

Upon deciding the name Intense Fighting Championship, Terrence began laying down the rules governing it:

Their would only be one belt. The IFC Openweight belt. Only the most skilled could claim it.

Matches are to be held within the confines of a cage.

If no decision has been achieved by the end of the fight, then the judges make their decision based upon the fight as a whole.

Non-Title matches are 3 x 5 minutes long

Championship matches are 5 x 5 minutes long

Strikes to a downed opponent are legal

The referee can separate fighters if they are inactive

Closing guard on the ground is legal

Knee strikes to the head of an opponent who is on the ground are legal

Fighters are not given a ten count to respond

Elbow strikes to the head of a standing opponent are legal

Elbow strikes to the head of a downed opponent are legal

Stomps to a downed opponent are legal

Foot stomps are legal

Soccer kicks to the head are legal

Soccer kicks to the body are legal

Monday Week 1 January 1998

IFC Power Play

Scott Avatar, a relative unknown in the World of Mixed Martial Arts, was last night shockingly installed as the new CEO of Canada MMA company IFC, writes Stuart Teacher. He is said to have been given almost total control over the direction of the promotion, with everything from match-making to merchandise being his responsibility. A desperate move by a desperate company, or a masterstroke that will help take them to the next level? Time will tell, and Blurcat.com will keep you posted.

The Beginning...!!

My previous attempt at a dynasty in KOTO fell flat on its arse as i struggled to gain even the slightest amount of popularity and killed any enjoyment i had. Hopefully this time will be better.

Thanks for all the predictions.. Show should hopefully be up tonight.. Just gotta get some free time from work.. seriously.. Who's bright idea was it to space two long shifts 11 hours apart. It takes me 1.5 hours to get home. Hour to eat once i get home. Hour in the morning to get dressed and another 1.5 hours to get back. It leaves me 6 hours to sleep if i drop off straight away
