Latest news and Strikeforce: Diaz vs Cyborg weigh-ins

So what's going on? We're moments away from the weigh-ins for Strikeforce: Diaz vs Cyborg, and I've got a few news bits to share with you first.

Strikeforce expands roster

A lot of signings have been made since Scott Avatar took over match making duties, mainly in the lightweight division, as well as the women's division, in a recent chat I had with him, he announced he's going to look for Light Heavyweights and some heavyweights next.

Featherweight title

UFC have announced the main event of UFC 126, 9-0 Chad "Money" Mendes is taking on champion Jose Aldo in the first ever defense of the UFC Featherweight title. Aldo (18-1) is going to make his UFC debut, after going 8-0 in sister promotion WEC before the merge.

Co-headliner of the card will feature Ultimate Fighter season 12 winner Court McGee take on another TUF winner, in Britain's Michael Bisping.

Shock returns?

In more UFC news, UFC have re-signed Mark Coleman and Ian Freeman, Coleman only recently released after a loss to Randy Couture, but Ian Freeman, the British Light Heavyweight veteran hasn't been in the UFC since 2003, as well as Mostapha-Al-Turk, who recently got released after a bad string of results.

Another return of sorts is of Masakatsu Funaki, the DREAM and Pancrase veteran, is set to make only his second appearance out of Japan, and in the USA, as he has too signed for UFC, unless maybe they're planning a trip to Japan?

Weigh-in results.

Everybody came in on weight, nobody above or below the limit apart from the obvious heavyweights, Lolohea Mahe came in at 264 while Herschel Walker came in at 215lbs, don't forget to get your last minute predictions in!

TKO (Strikes) in 1:02 of Round 3

- Amanda Nunes defeated Shana Olsen

Submission (Americana) in 2:46 of round 2

- Nate Moore defeated Nathan Coy

Unanimous Decision

Main card

Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Division

- Roger Gracie (3-0) vs Trevor Prangley (23-6-1)

Round 1

The first round started off with both men exchanging some weak strikes, followed up by Prangley throwing left jabs which are easily avoided by Gracie, Gracie spends the rest of the round circling away from Prangley, to loud boos of the crowd, landing a few jabs in the meantime, finishing the round with a small advantage.

Round 2

Another round of exchanging and avoiding jabs by both men, which didn't see any real action until the last minute when Gracie wrestled Prangley up against the cage, getting another point on the scorecard.

Round 3

Gracie took the upper hand in this round, landing and throwing more jabs than his opponent, finishing with a takedown that he can't do anything with as the bell rings.

All three judges score it 30-27

Winner by unanimous decision: Roger Gracie

Strikeforce Heavyweight Division

- Herschel Walker (1-0) vs Lolohea Mahe (4-2-1)

Round 1

The NFL legend came out swinging in the first round, landing blow after blow, but the Hawaiian just refused to go down.

Round 2

5 more minutes after blow after blow, the fans were on their feet the whole time, watching this powerful athlete beat down on a man who just refused to go down.

Round 3

If you told me Herschel Walker was a boxer, I'd believe ya, he hardly missed a punch, but yet for 15 minutes, Mahe wouldn't go down.

All three judges score it 30-27

Winner by unanimous decision: Herschel Walker

Strikeforce Middleweight Championship

- Ronaldo Souza © (13-2-1) vs Robbie Lawler (18-6-1)

Round 1

The first round started brilliantly, as Lawler knocked Jacare down in the first minutes, to a huge ovation from the crowd, Souza quickly scrambled back to his feet however, the round continues with the two scrambling back and forth.

Round 2

Another round full of scrambling, a few stuffed takedowns by Lawler, but otherwise a dull round.

Round 3

Although being 2 rounds up, Lawler didn't wanna risk losing the rest of the fight, and keeps hitting the champ with jabs, before stuffing a takedown, followed by a punch to the temple, followed up by a pounding by Lawler before the referee stops him.

3:35 of round 3

Winner by TKO and new Middleweight Champion: Robbie Lawler

Strikeforce Welterweight Championship

- Nick Diaz © (23-7-1) vs Evangelista Santos (18-13)

Round 1

Diaz came out straight away, pushing the challenger against the cage, following up with some punches to the stomach and ribs, Cyborg pushes Diaz off before receiving an uppercut and going down, Nick Diaz capitalizes and grabs Cyborg's arm and gets the armbar, making Cyborg tap out.

2:37 of round 1

Winner by submission (armbar) and still Welterweight Champion: Nick Diaz

Where do they go next?

Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz

Easily disposing of his first challenger of 2011, where does Diaz go, there's 2 obvious roads, settle with Jason Miller on a catchweight, or await the challenge Paul Daley will no doubt eventually bring.

Middleweight Champion Robbie Lawler

Robbie's next challenger could be some time off, with the top middleweight after him is Jason Miller, who as mentioned before, should finally agree on a catchweight and get the fight with Nick Diaz over with, Cung Le is a name that comes to mind, but I don't think the aged veteran would have much of a chance against the newly crowned champion.

Herschel Walker

With the Heavyweight title tournament coming up, who's to say what's next for the NFL legend, maybe a match against a lower ranked Jason Riley or Devin Cole, or more of a test against Bobby Lashley.

Roger Gracie

The 29 year old Gracie is 4-0, keeping his undefeated streak, potentially time for a bigger challenge, with guys like Renato Sobral and "King Mo" Lawal on the horizon.
