Strikeforce Announces Strikeforce - Fedor vs. Silva:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/FedorEmelianenko-1.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/AntonioSilva.gif

Heavyweight Grand Prix Opening Round, Fedor Emelianenko (31-2-1, 1 NC) vs. Antonio Silva (15-2) - Fedor will be looking to begin his climb back to pound for pound best in the world status and will look to bounce back from his stunning upset to Fabricio Werdum. "Bigfoot" will look to extend his win streak to 3 after his last two victories over Arlovski and Mike Kyle. The winner will go on to face the winner of Werdum vs. Alistair Overeem.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_AndreiArlovski.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_SergeiKharitonov.jpg

Heavyweight Grand Prix Opening Round, Andrei Arlovski (15-8) vs. Sergei Kharitonov (17-4) - Many are questioning whether Arlovski even deserves to be in the Grand Prix after dropping his last three fights. Kharitonov is the darkhorse in the Grand Prix and is unknown to all but the hardcore MMA fans. He boasts past victories over Alistair Overeem and Werdum on his resumé. The winner will go on to face the winner of Josh Barnett vs. Brett Rogers.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_ShaneDelRosario.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_LavarJohnson.gif

Heavyweight Grand Prix Reserve Bout, Shane del Rosario (10-0) vs. Lavar Johnson (15-3) - Shane del Rosario is being touted as an up-and-coming phenom by the Strikeforce brass, but has yet to face competition the likes of Johnson. Johnson was the feel good story of 2010 as he overcame injuries sustained by gunshots and returned to rattle off two straight victories afterwards. He is currently riding a 7 fight win streak.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_GianVillante.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_ChadGriggs.gif

Heavyweight Grand Prix Reserve Bout, Gian Villante (7-1) vs. Chad Griggs (9-1) - Villante is the newest addition to the Strikeforce heavyweight roster and is the current Ring of Combat Heavyweight Champion. Griggs stopped Bobby Lashley is his last fight and looks to extend his 4 fight win streak.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_ValentijnOvereem.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_RaySefo-1.gif

Heavyweight Grand Prix Reserve Bout, Valentijn Overeem (28-25) vs. Ray Sefo (2-0) - Overeem is likely only in Strikeforce because of his brother Alistair. His record is nothing to write home about and he hasn't had a victory over a big name fighter since 2001 (Randy Couture & Ian Freeman). Sefo is still relatively new to MMA, but will look to use his stellar kickboxing to win this fight.

Prelims:

Lightweight, Marc Stevens (12-5) vs. John Cholish (5-1)

Welterweight, Igor Gracie (2-2) vs. John Salgado (3-4-1)

Lightweight, Anthony Leone (8-2) vs. Josh LaBerge (7-4)

Lightweight, Kevin Roddy (9-11-1, 1 NC) vs. Ben Holscher (4-0)

Notable Signings

It looks like Strikeforce has become the organization of choice for the Gracies. While Roger and Igor were already under contract; the roster now includes Gregor, Ralek, and Kyra Gracie. Strikeforce has also inked exclusive deals with recent Zuffa castoffs Brandon Vera, Chris Horodecki, and Jamie Varner. Former pro wrestler Dave Bautista has also been signed and will debut for the company in the near future. Several other fighters have been signed as well, but will not be announced until they have fights.

Strikeforce Announces Strikeforce Challengers 14:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/LyleBeerbohm-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/PatHealy-1.gif

Lightweight, Lyle Beerbohm (16-0) vs. Pat Healy (25-17) - Beerbohm just keeps winning and Strikeforce will likely have no choice but to bump him up to the main cards with another victory and he will also likely be right in the title mix as well. Healy's winning streak was snapped in his last fight against former Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Josh Thomson, but he will be looking to bounce back and spoil Beerbohm's rise to the top.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_RyanCouture.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_OusmaneThomasDiagne.jpg

Lightweight, Ryan Couture (1-0) vs. Ousmane Thomas Diagne (1-2) - Couture was originally supposed to face Lee Higgins, but an injury has forced him out of this match up and he will now face Cung Le protégé Diagne. Couture looked impressive in his MMA debut, but still has a long way to go to live up to the family name. Diagne has been a disappointment thus far in his young MMA career, but he will look to get back into the win column in this one.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_DavidDouglas.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_NickGonzalez.gif

Lightweight, David Douglas (5-2) vs. Nick Gonzalez (16-8, 1 NC) - Douglas will be looking for his second straight Strikeforce victory, while Gonzalez will be returning to the promotion for the first time since 2007 when he lost to Josh Thomson.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_BryanTravers-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_CarloPrater.jpg

Lightweight, Bryan Travers (14-2) vs. Carlo Prater (25-10-1) - Travers is another bright prospect in Strikeforce. His only fight in the promotion was a defeat at the hands of headliner Pat Healy. Prater will be making his Strikeforce debut and will be looking to snap his 2 fight losing streak.

Prelims:

Welterweight, Erik Apple (10-2) vs. Bret Bergmark (6-1-1)

Women's Welterweight, Germaine de Randamie (2-1) vs. Maiju Kujala (4-3)

Light Heavyweight, Josh Schockman (4-3) vs. George Bush (5-2)

News:

Strikeforce has signed a Pay Per View deal with Direct TV to broadcast in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The rumor is the first PPV event will be the finals of the Heavyweight Grand Prix.

Fedor vs. Silva

February 12, 2011

Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey

Live on Showtime

Prelims:

Kevin Roddy (9-11-1, 1 NC) vs. Ben Holscher (4-0)

Holscher came out looking real good in the first round and secured a quick takedown. He almost sunk in an arm triangle and eventually secured a rear naked choke, but Roddy was saved by the bell. The second round was much of the same as Holscher got another takedown and again locked in a rear naked choke as time expired. In the third round, Holscher was determined to finish the fight and that is exactly what he did. He picked Roddy up for a huge slam and then locked up a guillotine for the victory.

Ben Holscher (5-0) beat Kevin Roddy (9-12-1, 1 NC) by Submission (Guillotine) in 2:32 of round 3

Anthony Leone (8-2) vs. Josh LaBerge (7-4)

This was a back and forth stand up battle with the biggest moment coming in the second round when LaBerge rocked Leone with a straight right sending him to the canvas. LaBerge took the first two rounds on the judges' score cards and Leone took the third.

Josh LaBerge (8-4) beat Anthony Leone (8-3) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Igor Gracie (2-2) vs. John Salgado (3-4-1)

In typical Gracie fashion, he worked the whole first round trying to secure a submission after getting the takedown. In the second round he followed the same strategy and Salgado eventually tapped out to an armbar.

Igor Gracie (3-2) beat John Salgado (3-5-1) by Submission (Armbar) in 4:06 of round 2

Marc Stevens (12-5) vs. John Cholish (5-1)

Cholish looked like a beast in this one. He took down and slammed Stevens at will. Stevens had no answer and spent the majority of the fight on his back. Cholish easily won all three rounds.

John Cholish (6-1) beat Marc Stevens (12-6) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Main Card:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_ValentijnOvereem.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_RaySefo-1.gif

Valentijn Overeem (28-25) vs. Ray Sefo (2-0)

Overeem shot in early in the first round and got rocked by a right hand. Sefo rained down hammer fists and then let Overeem back up after he failed to secure the mount. Overeem again shot in and was stuffed and Sefo quickly unloaded with big rights. The ref was close to stopping the fight at one point. The first round was easily a 10-8 in favor of Sefo. Sefo picked up right where he left off in the second round by quickly flooring Overeem with a big right uppercut. Sefo ground and pounded the rest of the round. Sefo punched himself out though and the third round was slow paced and they circled for most of it until Overeem got a takedown with little time remaining. Sefo easily took all three rounds.

Ray Sefo (3-0) beat Valentijn Overeem (28-26) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_GianVillante.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_ChadGriggs.gif

Gian Villante (7-1) vs. Chad Griggs (9-1)

Villante put on a leg kick clinic and by the third round, Griggs was limping. Villante took all three rounds on the judges' scorecards.

Gian Villante (8-1) beat Chad Griggs (9-2) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_ShaneDelRosario.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_LavarJohnson.gif

Shane del Rosario (10-0) vs. Lavar Johnson (15-3)

Johnson came out on a mission and rocked del Rosario. Johnson backed him up against the cage and unloaded with punches until del Rosario's knees buckled and the ref stepped in.

Lavar Johnson (16-3) beat Shane del Rosario (10-1) by TKO in 0:26 of round 1

Heavyweight Grand Prix Opening Round:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_AndreiArlovski.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_SergeiKharitonov.jpg

Andrei Arlovski (15-8) vs. Sergei Kharitonov (17-4)

Kharitonov countered a left jab with a huge right cross and Arlovski was out cold before he hit the mat. Once again Arlovski's weak chin was exposed. Kharitonov will now either face Josh Barnett or Brett Rogers in the semi-finals of the Grand Prix.

Sergei Kharitonov (18-4) beat Andrei Arlovski (15-9) by KO in 0:21 of round 1

Heavyweight Grand Prix Opening Round:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/FedorEmelianenko-1.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/AntonioSilva.gif

Fedor Emelianenko (31-2-1, 1 NC) vs. Antonio Silva (15-2)

Fedor put on a grappling and striking clinic in the first two rounds. Silva ate several brutal elbows in the clinch which cut him open. In the third round Fedor got the takedown and the mount and was very close to getting the armbar, but Silva rolled out of it and got back to his feet. Fedor looked dominant and took all three rounds. Fedor will now either face Fabricio Werdum or Alistair Overeem in the semi-finals of the Grand Prix.

Fedor Emelianenko (32-2-1, 1 NC) beat Antonio Silva (15-3) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Strikeforce Announces Strikeforce - Feijao vs. Henderson:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/RafaelCavalcante-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/DanHenderson.jpg

Light Heavyweight Championship, Rafael Cavalcante © (10-2) vs. Dan Henderson (26-8) - Feijao will be making his first title defense after winning the strap from King Mo. He is riding a 3 fight win streak and will be facing his toughest competition yet. Henderson is fresh off a devastating knockout victory over Babalu and is looking to improve upon his .500 Strikeforce record. Don't let that fool you though; his fight history is a virtual who's who of MMA.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_MarloesCoenen-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_MieshaTate.gif

Women's Welterweight Championship, Marloes Coenen © (18-4) vs. Miesha Tate (11-2) - Coenen will also be making her first title defense after an impressive submission victory over former champion Sarah Kaufman. She will look to use those same submission skills in this one to retain her title. Tate earned the number one contender spot after winning the one night tournament back at Strikeforce Challengers 10. She defeated Maiju Kujala and Hitomi Akano, both by unanimous decision. Proving she will be ready for the championship rounds if necessary.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_TimKennedy.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_LukeRockhold-1.gif

Middleweight, Tim Kennedy (12-3) vs. Luke Rockhold (7-1) - Kennedy was originally scheduled to fight Mayhem Miller, but Miller instead opted to take a fight with DREAM. Kennedy suffered his first Strikeforce loss in his last fight as he was defeated by the current Middleweight Champion, Jacare, as they battled for the then vacant title. Rockhold is riding high on his 6 fight win streak (all for Strikeforce) and is looking ahead to a title shot. He shouldn't overlook Kennedy though, as that may come back to hurt him. Either way, the winner of this fight will definitely be right in the title mix and possibly may even get the next title shot.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_BillyEvangelista.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_JorgeMasvidal.gif

Lightweight, Billy Evangelista (11-0, 1 NC) vs. Jorge Masvidal (20-6) - Evangelista will put his perfect record on the line against possibly his stiffest competition to date. With a victory, a shot at the title may be looming in the near future. Masvidal will be returning to the promotion for the first time since 2008. He is looking to bounce back from his last fight, which was for Shark Fights, in which he was defeated by current welterweight contender Paul Daley.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_JorgeGurgel.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_DanLauzon.gif

Lightweight, Jorge Gurgel (13-7) vs. Dan Lauzon (14-4) - Gurgel is looking to snap his 2 fight losing streak. It will be interesting to see if he continues to throw caution to the wind and stick to his recent brawling or if he goes back to his jiu jitsu roots. Recent signee Lauzon will be looking to make a splash in his Strikeforce debut. He has strung together two straight victories since his UFC release.

Prelims:

Welterweight, Roger Bowling (8-1) vs. Jesse Finney (6-1)

Heavyweight, Jason Riley (9-5) vs. John Devine (6-4)

Women's Welterweight, Jennifer Tate (6-1) vs. Shana Olsen (4-1)

Light Heavyweight, Scott Lighty (6-1) vs. Seth Baczynski (12-6)

Challengers 14

February 18, 2011

Cedar Park Center in Cedar Park, Texas

Live on Showtime

Prelims:

Josh Schockman (4-3) vs. George Bush (5-2)

The first round saw a back and forth stand up battle with Bush getting the slight edge due to his superior grappling skills and his takedown defense. In the second round, Schockman scored with a huge slam and took Bush's back just as time expired. The third round was much slower paced and the whole round was spent in the stand up. It was too close to call.

George Bush (6-2) beat Josh Schockman (4-4) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Germaine de Randamie (2-1) vs. Maiju Kujala (4-3)

The first round was back and forth, but de Randamie got the best of the stand up. In the second round, Kujala floored de Randamie with a head kick and ground and pounded her the remainder of the round. The third round saw another head kick by Kujala score, but de Randamie was able to weather the storm, get back to her feet, and drop Kujala and work some ground and pound the rest of the round.

Germaine de Randamie (3-1) beat Maiju Kujala (4-4) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Erik Apple (10-2) vs. Bret Bergmark (6-1-1)

The first round saw Apple stuffing takedown after takedown, but Bergmark was definitely the busier fighter. In the second round, Bergmark finally got the takedown and was able to take Apple's back, but he was unable to lock in the rear naked choke. The third round saw Apple bounce back and control the stand up, but it was too little too late.

Bret Bergmark (7-1-1) beat Erik Apple (10-3) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Main Card:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_BryanTravers-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_CarloPrater.jpg

Bryan Travers (14-2) vs. Carlo Prater (25-10-1)

This one left the crowd very unsatisfied and booing the majority of the fight. Travers pretty much just took Prater down and laid on him almost the whole fight.

Bryan Travers (15-2) beat Carlo Prater (25-11-1) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_DavidDouglas.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_NickGonzalez.gif

David Douglas (5-2) vs. Nick Gonzalez (16-8, 1 NC)

After the last fight, these fighters really needed to deliver for the unruly crowd and that is exactly what they did. They stood toe to toe and exchanged strikes for the entire first round. At one point, Douglas flattened Gonzalez with a straight right. The second round saw much of the same action. Douglas got his timing down and floored Gonzalez once again with a straight right and pounced on him and rained down hammer fists until the ref jumped in and stopped the fight.

David Douglas (6-2) beat Nick Gonzalez (16-9, 1 NC) by TKO in 3:33 of round 2

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_RyanCouture.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_OusmaneThomasDiagne.jpg

Ryan Couture (1-0) vs. Ousmane Thomas Diagne (1-2)

Couture whiffed on a jab and ate a head kick that knocked him out cold.

Ousmane Thomas Diagne (2-2) beat Ryan Couture (1-1) by KO in 0:29 of round 1

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/LyleBeerbohm-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/PatHealy-1.gif

Lyle Beerbohm (16-0) vs. Pat Healy (25-17)

Healy came out looking real good in the first round. He dominated on the ground and was very close to getting the finish via arm triangle. There wasn't much action in the second round, but Healy scored big with another takedown. Healy again took Beerbohm down in the third and controlled the fight on the ground. Healy spoiled any chance of Beerbohm getting a title shot in the near future.

Pat Healy (26-17) beat Lyle Beerbohm (16-1) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Strikeforce Announces Strikeforce Challengers 15 - International Welterweight Tournament:

Strikeforce will be holding a one night welterweight tournament in which the winner will receive a guaranteed title shot down the line. Strikeforce went out and acquired talent from all around the globe to go with some regular Strikeforce competitors. Showtime has also agreed to extend its broadcast so the fans can see the tournament in its entirety.

The matchups are as follows:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_MariusZaromskis.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_WaachiimSpiritwolf.gif

Lithuania, Marius Žaromskis (14-5, 1 NC) vs. U.S./Native American (Navajo/Yaqui) Waachiim Spiritwolf (8-7-1, 1 NC) - These two have unfinished business after their failed matchup only lasted 6 seconds and was declared a no contest after an accidental eye poke to Spiritwolf. Žaromskis has been dubbed the favorite for this tournament and is looking to get a second crack at current Welterweight Champion, Nick Diaz.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_BenSaunders.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_TommyMaguire.jpg

U.S., Ben Saunders (9-3-2) vs. England, Tommy Maguire (9-4) - After a 4-3 stint with the UFC, Saunders was released after two straight losses. He bounced back with a victory in his last fight on the regional circuit, and is looking to make a splash in his Strikeforce debut. He has been very vocal in the media that he should not be overlooked and he has declared himself the favorite to win the tourney. Very little is known about the Brit, Maguire, but he isn't letting any of the Saunders hype get to him, and is looking to play spoiler.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_DelsonHeleno-1.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_TarecSaffiedine.jpg

Brazil, Delson Heleno (20-5) vs. Belgium, Tarec Saffiedine (10-3) - Heleno is probably best known to the American fans for his time in the now defunct IFL. He will be looking to use his jiu jitsu skills in the matchup and throughout the tournament if he is able to advance. He is riding a 7 fight win streak and his last victory was against fellow tournament participant, Spiritwolf. Saffiedine was defeated his last time out by top contender Tyron Woodley, but he looked pretty good in defeat. "The Sponge" will need to be on his A game as he has been given a tough first round test.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_XavierLucas.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_NormanParaisy.gif

Australia, Xavier Lucas (8-1-1) vs. France, Norman Paraisy (7-1, 1 NC) - This matchup is intriguing because little is known about either competitor. The Aussie, Lucas, has spent all of his time fighting in Australia and Japan, and will be making his U.S. debut. Paraisy attempted to make it into The Ultimate Fighter house for TUF: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz, but he was defeated by James Hammortree.

Feijao vs. Henderson

March 5, 2011

Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio

Live on CBS

Prelims:

Scott Lighty (6-1) vs. Seth Baczynski (12-6)

Lighty started out controlling the stand up, but was taken down and mounted late in the first round as time expired. The second round saw Lighty dominate in the stand up and rock Baczynski on several occasions. The third round was pretty even and was spent in the stand up. Lighty controlled the striking, but Baczynski got the best of the clinch. The third round was too close too call.

Scott Lighty (7-1) beat Seth Baczynski (12-7) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Jennifer Tate (6-1) vs. Shana Olsen (4-1)

Tate got any easy takedown early in the first round and dominated with ground and pound. She almost finished the fight at one point with a deep armbar. In the second round, Tate muscled Olsen up against the cage and used a trip takedown to get her to the mat. She then transitioned into a guillotine and Olsen quickly tapped out. Tate looked solid and may have a date down the road with the winner of tonight's co-main event.

Jennifer Tate (7-1) beat Shana Olsen (4-2) by Submission (Guillotine) in 1:22 of round 2

Jason Riley (9-5) vs. John Devine (6-4)

Devine worked hard in the early part of round one for the takedown and eventually got it. He didn't do much after, as he spent the rest of the round scrambling for position and just went back and forth from half guard to side control. The second round slowed way down as both fighters looked tired. Devine could not get the takedown this time and Riley controlled the stand up. The third round saw Devine get a quick takedown and control the entire round on the ground.

John Devine (7-4) beat Jason Riley (9-6) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Roger Bowling (8-1) vs. Jesse Finney (6-1)

The first round was incredibly close and was contested on the feet. Bowling probably had the slight edge as he controlled Finney up against the cage for a good portion of the round. The second round started out similar to the first, but then Finney stuffed a takedown attempt from Bowling and pulled him down in a loose front facelock to his knees. Finney then unloaded with punches until Bowling could not take anymore and was forced to tap. The ref definitely should have jumped in sooner.

Jesse Finney (7-1) beat Roger Bowling (8-2) by Submission (Strikes) in 3:58 of round 2

Jorge Gurgel (13-7) vs. Dan Lauzon (14-4)

In typical Gurgel fashion, he chose to stand and bang with Lauzon and was dominated for the entire first round. The second round saw Lauzon score in the stand up some more until he eventually got the takedown. Gurgel attempted several submissions from guard, but couldn't lock anything in. The third round was pretty much a mirror image of the second. Lauzon looked great in his Strikeforce debut.

Dan Lauzon (15-4) beat Jorge Gurgel (13-8) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Billy Evangelista (11-0, 1 NC) vs. Jorge Masvidal (20-6)

There was not much action at all in the first round as both fighters just battled for control up against the cage. Masvidal came out strong in the second and rocked Evangelista with some big strikes. Evangelista was on wobbly legs at one point, but recovered and avoided being finished. The pace in the third round slowed, and was back and forth in the stand up. The third round was too close to call.

Jorge Masvidal (21-6) beat Billy Evangelista (11-1, 1 NC) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Tim Kennedy (12-3) vs. Luke Rockhold (7-1)

The first round was controlled by Kennedy on the feet. Rockhold could not secure the takedown. In the second, Rockhold was finally able to get the fight to the ground and he ground and pounded his way to winning the round. The third round began with fireworks when both fighters started unloading on each other. A right hook by Rockhold knocked Kennedy out cold and sent the fans into a frenzy. After the fight, Rockhold called out current Middleweight Champion, Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, who was sitting cageside.

Luke Rockhold (8-1) beat Tim Kennedy (12-4) by Knock Out in 0:56 of round 3

Women's Welterweight Championship:

Marloes Coenen © (18-4) vs. Miesha Tate (11-2)

Coenen definitely looked like a champion in this one. She quickly got the fight to the ground and eventually transitioned into an armbar, leaving Tate no choice but to tap. A very impressive first title defense by Coenen.

Marloes Coenen © (19-4) beat Miesha Tate (11-3) by Submission (Armbar) in 2:10 of round 1 to retain her Women's Welterweight Championship

Light Heavyweight Championship:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/RafaelCavalcante-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/DanHenderson.jpg

Rafael Cavalcante © (10-2) vs. Dan Henderson (26-8)

Henderson tried to use his wrestling in round one to get the fight to the ground, but was unsuccessful. There was not much action and the crowd let the competitors know it. The second round did not please the fans either. Henderson did get a takedown after catching a leg kick, but failed to do anything with it. The fans really let them hear it after round three as Henderson again got the takedown and then just pretty much rode Feijao for the whole round. In the fourth, Henderson again got the takedown and failed to do anything with it. Feijao attempted a couple submissions from guard unsuccessfully. Feijao knew he needed to go for broke in the fifth round and he came out and rocked Henderson scoring the knockdown. Hendo quickly shook off the cobwebs though and survived the final round. Too little too late from the champ.

Dan Henderson © (27-8) beat Rafael Cavalcante (10-3) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 5 to win the Light Heavyweight Championship

Strikeforce Announces Strikeforce - Overeem vs. Werdum II:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/AlistairOvereem.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/FabricioWerdum.jpg

Heavyweight Grand Prix Opening Round, Alistair Overeem (34-11, 1 NC) vs. Fabricio Werdum (14-4-1) - Overeem is riding high after winning DREAM and K-1 gold recently. He has a 9 fight winning streak (excluding a no contest in 2008 with Cro Cop) and is on a mission to take the #1 ranking in the world in the heavyweight division. Unfortunately, this fight will not be for his Strikeforce Heavyweight Championship. Werdum is coming off the biggest win of his career after submitting Fedor in what many have called the biggest upset ever. Werdum has publicly stated that this fight will have a similar result to his 2006 PRIDE meeting with Overeem when he submitted him in the second round. The winner of this one will face Fedor Emelianenko in the semi-finals of the Grand Prix.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_GilbertMelendez.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_TatsuyaKawajiri.gif

Lightweight Championship, Gilbert Melendez © (18-2) vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri (27-6-2) - After the hype died down over the Melendez vs. Eddie Alvarez talk, this is the fight that was signed. Melendez is easily in the top 5 lightweights in the world, and he will be looking to further prove that here. He will be looking to duplicate his 2006 victory over Kawajiri in PRIDE. Kawajiri has won 5 of his last 6, including victories over "JZ" Cavalcante and Josh Thomson. He will be looking to make some noise in his Strikeforce and U.S. debut.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_JoshBarnett.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_BrettRogers-1.gif

Heavyweight Grand Prix Opening Round, Josh Barnett (29-5) vs. Brett Rogers (11-2) - It has been awhile since Barnett has faced top level competition, but the former UFC Heavyweight Champion is no stranger to the spotlight. He will look to expand upon his 6 fight winning streak and will try to win impressively and leave all of the talk about suspensions and steroids in the past. Rogers looked primed to be the next big thing as he tore through the competition scoring knockout after knockout. He was then thrown to the wolves and lost back to back fights against Overeem and Fedor. He bounced back recently at a Warrior-1 show in a less than impressive victory over journeyman Ruben Villareal. The winner will move on to face Sergei Kharitonov in the semi-finals of the Grand Prix.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_GegardMousasi.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_MikeKyle.gif

Light Heavyweight, Gegard Mousasi (30-3-1) vs. Mike Kyle (18-8-1, 1 NC) - The former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion and current DREAM Light Heavyweight Champion, Mousasi, is looking to get back into title contention. After dropping his Strikeforce title to King Mo, he bounced back and won two straight on his way to become the DREAM champion. Kyle also currently holds gold, as he is the King of the Cage Light Heavyweight Champion. He was defeated his last time out by Antonio Silva, but Kyle took the fight on short notice and moved up in weight. Kyle looked great in defeat and almost pulled off the victory. The winner of this fight will be the first challenger to Dan Henderson's newly won title.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_DaveBatista-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_BrandonCash.gif

Heavyweight, Dave Bautista (0-0) vs. Brandon Cash (5-3) - The former WWE champion, Bautista, will be coming into the matchup with a lot of hype behind him. He has continuously called out Bobby Lashley, but Strikeforce wanted him to have a "tune up" fight first. Bautista has been training hard with the Cesar Gracie camp and is said to be ready for his MMA debut. Cash is loving the role of the underdog and is glad Bautista is looking past him. He has no intentions of being a stepping stone and will be looking to dethrone Bautista before his reign ever begins.

Prelims:

Middleweight, Yancy Medeiros (9-0) vs. Raul Castillo (6-1)

Lightweight, Hacran Dias (16-1-1) vs. Vitor Ribeiro (20-5)

Women's Welterweight, Colleen Schneider (0-2) vs. Jan Finney (8-9)

Middleweight, Cale Yarbrough (8-2) vs. Kevin Casey (3-2)

Live on Showtime

1st Round of Tournament:

Xavier Lucas (8-1-1) vs. Norman Paraisy (7-1, 1 NC)

The tournament started out with a bang and immediately got the crowd going as Lucas came out strong and landed brutal strike after brutal strike. He scored the knockdown late in the first round, but he was unable to finish. The momentum shifted in round two as Paraisy scored with a takedown and controlled Lucas on the ground. Lucas controlled the third round on his feet until the final minute when Paraisy got the takedown. It appeared as though Lucas had done enough to win, but the judges gave the fight to Paraisy. The fans voiced their opinion as they booed loudly as they too felt Lucas won the fight.

Norman Paraisy (8-1, 1 NC) beat Xavier Lucas (8-2-1) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Delson Heleno (20-5) vs. Tarec Saffiedine (10-3)

Saffiedine came out and landed with a head kick out of nowhere knocking Heleno to the canvas. "The Sponge" followed his opponent to the ground and rained down punches until the ref jumped in to save Heleno. Saffiedine will be very fresh for his semi-final meeting with Paraisy.

Tarec Saffiedine (11-3) beat Delson Heleno (20-6) by TKO in 0:58 of round 1

Ben Saunders (9-3-2) vs. Tommy Maguire (9-4)

Saunders got the takedown with ease very quickly and worked into position before he finally slapped on an arm triangle and got the submission victory. Saunders show boated to the crowd afterwards and made a motion of a title belt around his waist. Saunders will be very fresh for his second round matchup.

Ben Saunders (10-3-2) beat Tommy Maguire (9-5) by Submission (Arm Triangle) in 1:47 of round 1

Marius Žaromskis (14-5, 1 NC) vs. Waachiim Spiritwolf (8-7-1, 1 NC)

Žaromskis used his superior striking in the first round to dominate with an easy 10-8 round. He knocked Spiritwolf down with a flying knee and had him mounted as the round came to a close. The action continued in the second round as Spiritwolf caught a leg kick and got the takedwon. He eventually moved into mount and pounded on Žaromskis for almost the whole round. Luckily for Žaromskis, he stayed just busy enough to avoid being finished. Both fighters were gassed in the third and Spiritwolf pulled guard to get the fight to the ground. He tried to finish the fight with several submission attempts, but Žaromskis was too slick and was able to ride out the round on top.

Marius Žaromskis (15-5, 1 NC) beat Waachiim Spiritwolf (8-8-1, 1 NC) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Semi-Finals:

Tarec Saffiedine (11-3) vs. Norman Paraisy (8-1, 1 NC)

The first round didn't feature much action, but Paraisy stuffed every takedown attempt and may have had the slight edge. The second round had even less action if that was possible and the crowd let the fighters know it. The third round was another snoozer, but Paraisy got the best of the exchanges. It will be interesting to see what's left in Paraisy's gas tank after going six rounds thus far tonight.

Norman Paraisy (9-1, 1 NC) beat Tarec Saffiedine (11-4) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Marius Žaromskis (15-5, 1 NC) vs. Ben Saunders (10-3-2)

Saunders was able to get a trip takedown in the final minute of round one, but Žaromskis won the first four minutes with vicious kicks to the body and legs. Again, Saunders went for takedown after takedown in the second, but Žaromskis stuffed them all and hit solid counter shots each time. The third round was much of the same, and Saunders was unable to score on any of his takedown attempts. Žaromskis will also be going into the final now after six rounds tonight.

Marius Žaromskis (16-5, 1 NC) beat Ben Saunders (10-4-2) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Marius Žaromskis (16-5, 1 NC) vs. Norman Paraisy (9-1, 1 NC)

The first round was very close. Žaromskis won the stand up, but Paraisy scored a takedown and had some good ground control. Paraisy caught a kick and got the takedown early in round two. He took his time working from guard, to side control, to mount. He eventually locked on an armbar and forced Žaromskis to tap. It looked like Žaromskis arm was really hurt. Paraisy proved he is a force in the welterweight division and is now guaranteed a title shot sometime later this year.

Norman Paraisy (10-1, 1 NC) beat Marius Žaromskis (16-6, 1 NC) by Submission (Armbar) in 3:59 of round 2

Strikeforce Announces Strikeforce - Chicago

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/MuhammedLawal.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/BrandonVera.gif

Light Heavyweight, Muhammed Lawal (7-1) vs. Brandon Vera (11-6) - "King Mo" got his first taste of defeat in his last fight against Feijao when he dropped the Light Heavyweight Championship. He is looking to get back into the win column and back into title contention. Vera on the other hand is in the worst drought of his career after dropping 3 straight and getting release by the UFC. He really needs a win in this one to turn his career around.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_GesiasCalvancante.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_ChrisHorodecki.gif

Lightweight, Gesias Cavalcante (15-4-1, 1 NC) vs. Chris Horodecki (16-3) - "JZ" lost his Strikeforce debut his last time out to former Lightweight Champion, Josh Thomson. He is looking to bounce back and move back up the lightweight ladder. Horodecki surprisingly was not brought over from the WEC to the UFC after the merger. His last time out he lost a tough one to Donald Cerrone. Horodecki may be a veteran in the sport, but at 23, he still has a long career ahead of him.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_MartinDesilets-1.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_EliotMarshall.gif

Light Heavyweight, Martin Desilets (11-2, 1 NC) vs. Eliot Marshall (10-2) - Both of these competitors will be looking to make a splash in their Strikeforce debuts. Desilets has really made a name for himself on the Canadian MMA scene and is riding a 4 fight win streak. Marshall, on the other hand, is know by the U.S. fans for his time in the UFC. He went 3-1 in the UFC and was then surprisingly given his release. Since then, he has rattled off 3 straight victories.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_RalekGracie.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_WaynePhillips.gif

Middleweight, Ralek Gracie (3-0) vs. Wayne Phillips (5-3) - Gracie has looked impressive so far in his short MMA career and will try and keep his perfect record intact and also back up the the longstanding Gracie history. It appears as though Phillips is being thrown to the wolves in this one, but never say never in MMA. He is undefeated in Strikeforce with his current 2 fight win streak.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_HerschelWalker.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_DevinCole.jpg

Heavyweight, Herschel Walker (2-0) vs. Devin Cole (18-9-1) - As previously announced, this will be Walker's retirement fight. He would like to go out on a high note with a 3-0 record, but Devin Cole will not be rolling over for him. Cole will have a huge experience edge and will look to utilize that to secure the victory.

Prelims:

Light Heavyweight, Rhadi Ferguson (3-0) vs. Ion Cherdivara (1-0)

Heavyweight, Wes Shivers (8-1) vs. Soa Palelei (10-3)

Welterweight, Shamar Bailey (10-3) vs. Jason Pierce (9-0)

Strikeforce - Overeem vs. Werdum II

April 2, 2011

HP Pavilion in San Jose, California

Live on Showtime

Prelims:

Cale Yarbrough (8-2) vs. Kevin Casey (3-2)

The two fighters came out slow and felt each other out early. Yarbrough then pressed Casey up against the cage and Casey slapped on a standing guillotine choke and was able to secure the submission victory.

Kevin Casey (4-2) beat Cale Yarbrough (8-3) by Submission (Guillotine) in 2:41 of round 1

Colleen Schneider (0-2) vs. Jan Finney (8-9)

The first round was contested in the stand up and was controlled by Finney. Rounds 2 and 3, however, saw Schneider bully Finney and score with several big takedowns.

Colleen Schneider (1-2) beat Jan Finney (8-10) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Hacran Dias (16-1-1) vs. Vitor Ribeiro (20-5)

Dias did not live up to the hype and was a disappointment in his Strikeforce debut. He had no answer for the takedown of Ribeiro as he was taken down at will. Ribeiro did a nice job of keeping busy moving in and out of the guard and going for submissions. He almost finished the fight in the third round with a kneebar, but Dias was too slick at that point.

Vitor Ribeiro (21-5) beat Hacran Dias (16-2-1) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Yancy Medeiros (9-0) vs. Raul Castillo (6-1)

Castillo came out in the first round and controlled the fight on the feet. However, Medeiros looked like a different fighter in the second and scored with an amazing spinning roundhouse kick that put Castillo down. Medeiros then capitalized on the opportunity and pounded away on Castillo until the ref jumped in for the save.

Yancy Medeiros (10-0) beat Raul Castillo (6-2) by TKO in 1:17 of round 2

Main Card:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_DaveBatista-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_BrandonCash.gif

Dave Bautista (0-0) vs. Brandon Cash (5-3)

Bautista was hyped up huge for this match and looked great in the first round using his superior strength to throw Cash around like a ragdoll. However, carrying around all that muscle seemed to get to Bautista in the second because he looked very sluggish. Cash trapped him up against the cage and unloaded with lefts and rights. Bautista's legs eventually gave out and he went down and covered up until the ref called the fight.

Brandon Cash (6-3) beat Dave Bautista (0-1) by TKO in 3:50 of round 2

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_GegardMousasi.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_MikeKyle.gif

Gegard Mousasi (30-3-1) vs. Mike Kyle (18-8-1, 1 NC)

With a title shot against Dan Henderson on the line, both of these fighters came out motivated. The first round was back and forth stand up, but Mousasi had the slight edge. In the second, Mousasi softened Kyle up with leg kicks before finally landing the knockout right cross. Kyle was out on his feet. Afterwards, the champion, Dan Henderson, came into the cage and had a face off with Mousasi.

Gegard Mousasi (31-3-1) beat Mike Kyle (18-9-1, 1 NC) by KO in 0:41 of round 2

Heavyweight Grand Prix Opening Round:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_JoshBarnett.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_BrettRogers-1.gif

Josh Barnett (29-5) vs. Brett Rogers (11-2)

Barnett got the quick takedown in the first round and maintained control for the remainder of the round, doing just enough to avoid being stood up by the ref. Barnett got another early takedown in round 2. He worked his way into side control and slapped on a tight arm triangle. Rogers looked in deep trouble, but was able to pop out. Barnett went to the well once more and this time he was able to get Rogers to tap out to the arm triangle. Barnett now moves on to face Sergei Kharitonov in the semi-finals of the Grand Prix.

Josh Barnett (30-5) beat Brett Rogers (11-3) by Submission (Arm Triangle) in 4:16 of round 2

Lightweight Championship:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_GilbertMelendez.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_TatsuyaKawajiri.gif

Gilbert Melendez © (18-2) vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri (27-6-2)

Kawajiri caught a leg kick early in the first round and took Melendez down. "El Niño" was too skilled and was able to scramble and end up on top. He eventually took Kawajiri's back and would have likely got the submission if there was only a few more seconds in the round. In the second round, both fighters were very aggressive and probably too aggressive as the two fighters collided heads causing a huge gash to open up on the champion. The ref paused the fight and the doctor took one look at the cut and called the fight. The fans booed, but the doctor clearly made the right decision and blood was pouring into "El Niño's" eye. Afterwards, Scott Coker announced that these two will have a rematch in the near future.

Bout ruled a No Contest, Gilbert Melendez © (18-2, 1 NC) retains his Lightweight Championship, Tatsuya Kawajiri (27-6-2, 1 NC)

Heavyweight Grand Prix Opening Round:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/AlistairOvereem.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/FabricioWerdum.jpg

Alistair Overeem (34-11, 1 NC) vs. Fabricio Werdum (14-4-1)

If you blinked, you missed this fight. Overeem came out with a flying knee strike and knocked Werdum out cold. This fight may not have been for Overeem's belt, but he looked every bit the champion in this one. He will now move on to face Fedor Emelianenko in the semi-finals of the Grand Prix.

Alistair Overeem (35-11, 1 NC) beat Fabricio Werdum (14-5-1) by KO in 0:29 of round 1

The attendance was 6,004 for a gate of $720,480

Fight of the Night: Casey vs. Yarbrough

Strikeforce Announces Strikeforce - Diaz vs. Daley:

Strikeforce will make it's first attempt at Pay Per View and will do so from The Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show will be headlined by MMA's bad boy and Strikeforce Welterweight Champion, Nick Diaz, as he puts his title on the line against knockout artist, Paul Daley.

Other fighters rumored for the card are Cung Le, Bobby Lashley, and the return of Gina Carano.

The full card will be announced in the coming weeks.

Full Card for Strikeforce - Diaz vs. Daley announced:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/NickDiaz.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/PaulDaley.gif

Welterweight Championship, Nick Diaz © (24-7, 1 NC) vs. Paul Daley (26-9-2) - Diaz is coming off an impressive title defense against Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos. He is looking for his third straight title defense since winning the vacant title against Marius Žaromskis. He is riding a stellar 9 fight win streak and will be looking to add another one in the win column. Daley is coming off a devastating knockout victory over Scott Smith and is looking to extend his 3 fight win streak since being released from the UFC. Semtex will have his work cut out for him though, as the champion is very tough and unorthodox. The winner of this matchup will have a date with the winner of the welterweight tournament, Norman Paraisy.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_CungLe.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_RobbieLawler-1.gif

Middleweight, Cung Le (7-1) vs. Robbie Lawler (18-7, 1 NC) - Le bounced back in his last fight to avenge his only loss as he defeated Scott Smith. If he can get past the heavy handed Lawler, he may find himself back into title contention. Lawler was unsuccessful in his attempt at middleweight gold in his last fight as he was submitted by the champion, "Jacare" Souza. He has guaranteed this fight will not make it out of the first round and that either Le is getting knocked out, or he will get knocked out trying.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_OvinceStPreux.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_RenatoSobral.jpg

Light Heavyweight, Ovince St. Preux (10-4) vs. Renato Sobral (36-9) - OSP has been quietly climbing the ladder in the light heavyweight division, but this fight will prove if he can hang with the big boys or not. He will look to expand upon his impressive 7 fight win streak. "Babalu" was brutally knocked out in his last fight by Dan Henderson and feels as though Strikeforce is trying to use him as a stepping stone for OSP in this fight. Sobral has vowed that he will be more prepared than ever and will be no one's stepping stone.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_BobbyLashley-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_DanielCormier-1.jpg

Heavyweight, Bobby Lashley (5-1) vs. Daniel Cormier (7-0) - Lashley suffered the first defeat of his career in his last fight and may have bitten off more than he can chew in this one as he goes up against stud prospect Daniel Cormier. Cormier will look to use his superior wrestling skills and will attempt to keep his unblemished record intact. He has stated he has his sights set high in Strikeforce and would like to be in title contention by this time next year.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_GinaCarano.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_ErinToughill.jpg

Women's Middleweight, Gina Carano (7-1) vs. Erin Toughill (10-2-1) - Carano is making her long awaited return to MMA since tasting her first defeat at the hands of current champion "Cyborg" Santos. Strikeforce isn't doing her any favors though and definitely is not throwing her a softball. Toughill is a very tough competitor and is at the top of the division. She is riding a 4 fight win streak. The winner here could jump right to the front of the line for a title shot.

Prelims:

Lightweight, Conor Heun (8-4) vs. Bobby Stack (8-2)

Middleweight, Spencer Herns (1-0) vs. Louis Taylor (6-2)

Welterweight, Luke Stewart (6-3) vs. James Terry (9-2)

Women's Middleweight, Cat Zingano (5-0) vs. Julia Budd (1-1)

Chicago

April 29, 2011

Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois

Live on Showtime

Prelims:

Carina Damm (15-5) vs. Liz Carmouche (5-0)

Carmouche won the early part of round one with her striking and then scored with the takedown and grinded out the remainder of the round. The second round was much more even as the fighters went back and forth in the stand up. Carmouche got an early takedown in round three and controlled the entire round on the mat.

Liz Carmouche (6-0) beat Carina Damm (15-6) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Shamar Bailey (10-3) vs. Jason Pierce (9-0)

Both fighters scored with takedowns in the first round, but couldn't keep their opponent down long. They stood to-to-toe in the stand up and the first round was too close to call. The second was also close with the fighters going back and forth with strikes, but the difference was a takedown by Bailey, which likely gave him the round. Both fighters looked gassed in the third, but Bailey again managed the takedown and controlled most of the round.

Shamar Bailey (11-3) beat Jason Pierce (9-1) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Wes Shivers (8-1) vs. Soa Palelei (10-3)

The first round was a stand up war with Shivers dominating landing several big hooks to the body. Palelei looked like a different fighter in the second and hit jab after jab after jab. At one point, it was quite obvious the jaw of Shivers was injured. The third round started slow, but good head movement allowed Shivers to roll past an attempted knockout punch and counter with a massive uppercut, knocking Palelei out cold.

Wes Shivers (9-1) beat Soa Palelei (10-4) by KO in 2:56 of round 3

Rhadi Ferguson (3-0) vs. Ion Cherdivara (1-0)

Almost the entire first round was a back and forth grappling match and the fans voiced their unhappiness. The lone bright spot saw Ferguson get the trip takedown with about 30 seconds left in the round. The second round was more grappling. Ferguson did land a couple nice shots, but the fans continued to boo loudly. The fighters did not seem to let the boos get to them as the third round was another grapple-fest.

Rhadi Ferguson (4-0) beat Ion Cherdivara (1-1) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Main Card:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_HerschelWalker.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_DevinCole.jpg

Herschel Walker (2-0) vs. Devin Cole (18-9-1)

Cole controlled the first round on the feet and scored with a takedown. Cole got an early takedown and was on top for much of the second round, but Walker eventually scrambled and ended up on top. The second round could have gone either way. Walker landed some early strikes in round three, but Cole eventually got another takedown. Cole was content to just lay on Walker. Walker locked on a kimura at one point, but couldn't get the submission. This isn't the way Walker wanted to go out in his retirement match, but the 49 year old has nothing to be ashamed of.

Devin Cole (19-9-1) beat Herschel Walker (2-1) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_RalekGracie.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_WaynePhillips.gif

Ralek Gracie (3-0) vs. Wayne Phillips (5-3)

Gracie missed weight yesterday, so he will be forfeiting a percentage of his purse to Phillips. Gracie attempted the takedown early in round one, but was stuffed and Phillips ended up on top. Gracie almost looked on a triangle and then secured a guillotine and rolled over and ended up in Phillips' guard. Gracie was unable to do anything else with the position though. Too close too call. The second started the same as the first with Gracie having his takedown stuffed and him ending up on bottom. At one point, Phillips locked on a tight arm triangle and Gracie looked like he was going out, but he broke free at the last second. Phillips dominated the second round. Gracie attempted takedown after takedown in the third until he finally scored with a huge slam, but it was too little too late. An extremely disappointing debut for Gracie.

Wayne Phillips (6-3) beat Ralek Gracie (3-1) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_MartinDesilets-1.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_EliotMarshall.gif

Martin Desilets (11-2, 1 NC) vs. Eliot Marshall (10-2)

Marshall controlled Desilets up against the cage for the majority of the first round, but every takedown attempt was stuffed. Desilets sprinted across the cage to start round two and backed Marshall against the cage. He landed a barrage of big right hands and there was nowhere for Marshall to go. Marshall collapsed, visibly hurt, and Desilets continued unleashing strikes on his fallen opponent. The referee had no choice but to jump in and make the save.

Martin Desilets (12-2, 1 NC) beat Eliot Marshall (10-3) by TKO in 0:29 of round 2

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_GesiasCalvancante.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_ChrisHorodecki.gif

Gesias Cavalcante (15-4-1, 1 NC) vs. Chris Horodecki (16-3)

Horodecki looked good early, but got cute and attempted a spinning back kick which was countered by "JZ" with a huge right hook. Horodecki stumbled back against the cage and "JZ" unloaded until Horodecki's legs gave out and the ref stopped the fight.

Gesias Cavalcante (16-4-1, 1 NC) beat Chris Horodecki (16-4) by TKO in 2:40 of round 1

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/MuhammedLawal.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/BrandonVera.gif

Muhammed Lawal (7-1) vs. Brandon Vera (11-6)

Vera shot in on "King Mo" and was pushed down into the turtle position. "King Mo" capitalized on the opportunity and landed several big punches. Vera was unable to deal with them and was not defending himself, so the ref had no choice but to stop the fight.

Muhammed Lawal (8-1) beat Brandon Vera (11-7) by TKO in 1:50 of round 1

News/Notes:

Strikeforce Announces - Strikeforce Challengers 16 - A Night of Debuts

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/MarcosRogeriodeLima-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/AntwainBritt-1.gif

Light Heavyweight, Marcos Rogério de Lima (8-0) vs. Antwain Britt (11-5) - Highly touted Brazilian prospect "Pezao" will be looking to make an impact in his Strikeforce and U.S. debut. He is coming off a huge win against Paulo Filho, becoming only the second man to defeat him, with the other being Chael Sonnen. He is hoping to come out of this one with his perfect record intact, but will be going up against the heavy handed Britt. "The Juggernaut" has fallen on hard times lately and is in the midst of a 2 fight losing streak. He plans to spoil the debut of the Brazilian and start his climb back up the ladder in the division.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_RobertDrysdale-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_RonHumphrey.jpg

Light Heavyweight, Robert Drysdale (2-0) vs. Ron Humphrey (7-3) - The jiu jitsu stud, Drysdale, is stepping way up in competition in just his third professional fight. He has publically expressed his desire to fight Roger Gracie down the line, but he will have to get by a tough "Abongo" Humphrey first. Humphrey will be trying to bounce back from his current 2 fight losing streak and will definitely try his best to keep this fight on his feet.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_SiyarBahadurzada-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_JorgePatino.jpg

Middleweight, Siyar Bahadurzada (18-4-1) vs. Jorge Patino (23-13-1, 1 NC) - Bahadurzada is lucky to have a fight at this point after bashing Strikeforce in the media about not having a fight previously because of his ethnic background. Nonetheless, he will make his debut here and attempt to expand on his 4 fight winning streak. Patino lost his Strikeforce debut in his last fight to Andre Galvao and will look to snap his 2 fight losing streak.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_JoeEllenberger.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_VilleManninen.gif

Lightweight, Joe Ellenberger (10-0) vs. Ville Manninen (3-1) - Ellenberger is the brother of UFC standout, Jake Ellenberger. He will likely use his wrestling to try and grind out a victory and remain unbeaten. Manninen will be fighting for the first time outside of his home country of Finland. Both of these fighters will be looking to impress in their Strikeforce debuts.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_KyraGracie.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_KimCouture.jpg

Women's Welterweight, Kyra Gracie (0-0) vs. Kim Couture (3-4) - Gracie will not only be making her Strikeforce debut, but also her MMA debut. She really needs no introduction as the last name speaks for itself. She has been talked up for years, so only time will tell if she can live up to the hype. Couture has been a very inconsistent fighter and has likely been matched up here to showcase Gracie. However, showcase matchups don't always work out, so we'll see.

Prelims:

Welterweight, Alexander Trevino (4-2) vs. Jesse Jones (2-1)

Middleweight, Eric Lawson (9-4) vs. John Salter (6-2)

Welterweight, Cory Devela (11-5) vs. Nate Moore (7-2)

Diaz vs. Daley

May 14, 2011

Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada

Live on Pay Per View

Prelims:

Cat Zingano (5-0) vs. Julia Budd (1-1)

The beginning of round one was definitely a feeling out process, but then Zingano caught a leg kick from Budd and secured the takedown. She eventually moved nicely into side control and locked on an arm triangle. Budd had no answer and was forced to tap out.

Cat Zingano (6-0) beat Julia Budd (1-2) by Submission (Arm Triangle) in 4:08 of round 1

Luke Stewart (6-3) vs. James Terry (9-2)

Terry opened up round one with some nice leg kicks. He then unloaded with two big right hands which wobbled Stewart. Terry then put the icing on the cake with a perfectly executed head kick, knocking Stewart out cold.

James Terry (10-2) beat Luke Stewart (6-4) by KO in 3:09 of round 1

Spencer Herns (1-0) vs. Louis Taylor (6-2)

The first round was controlled by Taylor in the standup, as he was able to score with some solid strikes and also stuff all takedown attempts. About a minute into the second round, Herns shot in for the takedown and Taylor rocked him with a stiff counter right hook that sent him down hard. Taylor pounced on Herns, but Herns was able to shake off the cobwebs and secure guard and survive the rest of the round. Taylor was definitely tired in the third round. Herns pushed the pace and tried takedown after takedown, but Taylor would not go down. Herns probably squeaked out the third as he was the busier fighter.

Louis Taylor (7-2) beat Spencer Herns (1-1) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Conor Heun (8-4) vs. Bobby Stack (8-2)

Stack spent the majority of the first round working for the takedown and each time, Heun tried for the guillotine. Stack finally got the takedown near the end of the round and likely did enough to win the first round on the judges' scorecards. In the second, Heun tried for the early takedown and Stack sprawled and pushed Heun down into the turtle position. Stack unloaded with a ton of brutal strikes and it was very surprising the ref did not stop the fight. Heun somehow managed to survive and scramble back to his feet. He was then pretty much just trying to avoid Stack for the remainder of the round. The third round had a slower pace, but Stack managed to get Heun to the mat again and grind out the round.

Bobby Stack (9-2) beat Conor Heun (8-5) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Main Card:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_GinaCarano.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_ErinToughill.jpg

Gina Carano (7-1) vs. Erin Toughill (10-2-1)

The two fighters went toe-to-toe in the standup in a very close first round. The crowd got fired up and Carano appeared to have barely taken the round. They picked up right where they left off and continued their standup war into the second round. Toughill appeared to have the edge this time though. These two women kept the pace going in the third round. At one point, Carano rocked Toughill, but failed to capitalize. Another close round, but Carano likely did enough to win. Afterwards, Gina was asked if she felt she deserved a title shot after this big win. Her response was that she feels she needs another fight before she is ready to go head-to-head with "Cyborg" again.

Gina Carano (8-1) beat Erin Toughill (10-3-1) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_BobbyLashley-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_DanielCormier-1.jpg

Bobby Lashley (5-1) vs. Daniel Cormier (7-0)

The two exchanged strikes early, but then Cormier went to his roots and shot in for the takedown. He was stuffed and Lashley pulled him down to the ground in a loose front facelock until he was on his knees. Lashley unloaded with massive punches and Cormier was getting destroyed. The referee was forced to jump in and stop the fight.

Bobby Lashley (6-1) beat Daniel Cormier (7-1) by TKO in 1:52 of round 1

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_OvinceStPreux.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_RenatoSobral.jpg

Ovince St. Preux (10-4) vs. Renato Sobral (36-9)

The first round had very little action and the fans let the fighters know it. "Babalu" had OSP against the cage for the majority of the round and all of his takedown attempts were stuffed. The second round didn't see much more action. The fighters had a couple okay exchanges until "Babalu" was finally able to get the takedown. He was unable to do anything with it though and just laid on OSP until the clock expired. "Babalu" got the takedown easily in the third round and was able to move to mount. He went for the armbar, but OSP was able to roll him and end up on top. OSP pounded away with a couple of good strikes, but then "Babalu" slapped on a guillotine. His arms gassed out though and he couldn't get the finish.

Renato Sobral (37-9) beat Ovince St. Preux (10-5) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_CungLe.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_RobbieLawler-1.gif

Cung Le (7-1) vs. Robbie Lawler (18-7, 1 NC)

Lawler came out like a man on a mission and backed Le up against the cage. Lawler connected with a huge left hand and dropped Le to the mat. Lawler seized the opportunity and did not let up until the ref jumped in and pushed Lawler away.

Robbie Lawler (19-7, 1 NC) beat Cung Le (7-2) by TKO in 1:14 of round 1

Welterweight Championship:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/NickDiaz.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/PaulDaley.gif

Nick Diaz © (24-7, 1 NC) vs. Paul Daley (26-9-2)

There were fireworks yesterday at the weigh-ins during the staredown and they had to be separated by the ref during the prefight instructions. Diaz came out in the first with his hands down and his lips flapping. Daley took the opportunity to strike first and rocked Diaz with a solid right hand sending him to the ground. "Semtex" sensed victory and unloaded on Diaz. Diaz couldn't defend himself, so the ref stopped the fight; crowning Daley the new Welterweight Champion. Afterwards, Daley was asked to comment on his first challenger, Norman Paraisy, and Daley's only response was, "Who?"

Paul Daley © (27-9-2) beat Nick Diaz (24-8, 1 NC) by TKO in 1:19 of round 1 to win the Welterweight Championship

Strikeforce Announces Strikeforce - Fedor vs. Overeem:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/FedorEmelianenko-1.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/AlistairOvereem.jpg

Heavyweight Grand Prix Semifinals, Fedor Emelianenko (32-2, 1 NC) vs. Alistair Overeem (35-11, 1 NC) - Fedor advanced to the semifinals after a hard fought unanimous decision over "Bigfoot" Silva back in February. He will be looking to defeat the champ in this one, but once again, the title will not be on the line. Overeem dismantled Fabricio Werdum in his first round matchup in just 29 seconds with a devastating flying knee knockout. The winner of this fight will face the winner of the co-main event in the Grand Prix Finals.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_SergeiKharitonov.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_JoshBarnett.gif

Heavyweight Grand Prix Semifinals, Sergei Kharitonov (18-4) vs. Josh Barnett (30-5) - Kharitonov sent Andrei Arlovski to the unemployment line with a 21 second knockout in the first round. He would like to keep this fight on his feet and finish in a similar fashion. Barnett knocked off Brett Rogers via second round arm triangle in the opening round of the Grand Prix. He likely won't want to stand and trade for long with Kharitonov and is heavily favored in this fight. The winner will face the winner of the main event in the Grand Prix Finals.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_TyronWoodley.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_KJNoons.gif

Welterweight, Tyron Woodley (8-0) vs. K.J. Noons (9-2) - Woodley keeps knocking down all challengers put in front of him, but he hasn't faced a striker the likes of Noons to date. Noons might be better fit for the lightweight division, but he chose to stay at welterweight after his unsuccessful title shot at the former champion, Nick Diaz. A win here could put either fighter next in line for a title shot after Norman Paraisy takes first crack at new champ, Paul Daley.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_CristianeSantos.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_AmandaNunes.gif

Women's Middleweight Championship, Cristiane Santos © (10-1) vs. Amanda Nunes (6-1) - "Cyborg" has not tasted defeat since her very first fight way back in 2005. She has been on a tear in Strikefore and will be looking for her third straight successful title defense. Nunes might not be ready for a shot at this point, but due to the lack of depth in the division along with her 14 second shellacking of Julia Budd, she has been given this opportunity. Expect fireworks early and often in this one.

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_JasonMiller-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_MelvinManhoef.gif

Middleweight, Jason Miller (25-7, 1 NC) vs. Melvin Manhoef (25-8-1) - "Mayhem" chose to take another fight with DREAM his last time out and it paid off as he won the DREAM Middleweight Championship. He is riding a 3 fight win streak and would like to get into Strikeforce title contention with a win. Manhoef also fought on the same DREAM card as Miller the last time out and snapped his 2 fight losing streak. Manhoef is looking for his first Strikeforce victory and would like to move his way back up the ladder.

Prelims:

Heavyweight, Orville Palmer (4-0) vs. Lolohea Mahe (4-3-1)

Light Heavyweight, Jeremiah Billington (11-2) vs. Aaron Rosa (15-4)

Welterweight, Ivan Jorge (14-2) vs. Waachiim Spiritwolf (8-8-1, 1 NC)

Women's Welterweight, Germaine de Randamie (3-1) vs. Kerry Vera (2-0)

Challengers 16 - A Night of Debuts

May 20, 2011

1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado

Live on Showtime

Prelims:

Cory Devela (11-5) vs. Nate Moore (7-2)

Moore came out and got the easy takedown early in round one. He transitioned to side control and locked on an armbar shortly thereafter. Devela was unable to get out of it and was forced to tap.

Nate Moore (8-2) beat Cory Devela (11-6) by Submission (Armbar) in 2:05 of round 1

Eric Lawson (9-4) vs. John Salter (6-2)

Lawson used some nice strikes early to set up and get the takedown in round one. He had Salter pressed up against the cage on the ground and eventually secured side control. He then slapped on the armbar and forced Salter to submit.

Eric Lawson (10-4) beat John Salter (6-3) by Submission (Armbar) in 4:07 of round 1

Alexander Trevino (4-2) vs. Jesse Jones (2-1)

Trevino showed off some nice striking in round one landing some nice combos and some vicious body kicks to the ribs of Jones. Trevino got the takedown late in the round and got the mount, but it was right as time expired. Trevino carried the momentum into round two and got a huge slam early. He mounted Jones and locked on an americana to get the submission victory.

Alexander Trevino (5-2) beat Jesse Jones (2-2) by Submission (Americana) in 1:55 of round 2

Main Card:

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_KyraGracie.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_KimCouture.jpg

Kyra Gracie (0-0) vs. Kim Couture (3-4)

Gracie was unable to get Couture to the ground early, so to everyone's surprise, she rocked Couture and sent her down to the mat hard. Gracie pounced on Couture and hammered away until the ref jumped in to make the save.

Kyra Gracie (1-0) beat Kim Couture (3-5) by TKO in 3:14 of round 1

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_JoeEllenberger.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_VilleManninen.gif

Joe Ellenberger (10-0) vs. Ville Manninen (3-1)

The striking was pretty much even in the first round, with the fighters pretty much going toe-to-toe. Manninen managed to get a takedown with about 15 second left and may have stolen the first round. Manninen got the early takedown in round two and was able to control Ellenberger for the whole round. Manninen slapped on an armbar and had it fully applied, but Ellenberger was saved by the bell. A couple more seconds and the fight would have been over. Ellenberger pushed the pace in round three and was getting the best of the striking exchange. Manninen was able to stop the momentum and get the takedown and ride out the end of the round.

Ville Manninen (4-1) beat Joe Ellenberger (10-1) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_SiyarBahadurzada-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_JorgePatino.jpg

Siyar Bahadurzada (18-4-1) vs. Jorge Patino (23-13-1, 1 NC)

Bahadurzada controlled the standup and was able to avoid all of Patino's takedowns. At one point, Bahadurzada stuffed a takedown and had Patino turtled up and almost finished him. A minute into the second round, Patino missed with a left jab and Bahadurzada countered with several big rights forcing him up against the cage. A right cross then landed and sent Patino to the canvas. Bahadurzada capitalized and unloaded with a barrage of punches until the ref stopped the fight.

Siyar Bahadurzada (19-4-1) beat Jorge Patino (23-14-1, 1 NC) by TKO in 1:17 of round 2

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_RobertDrysdale-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_RonHumphrey.jpg

Robert Drysdale (2-0) vs. Ron Humphrey (7-3)

Drysdale made the mistake of trying to exchange with Humphrey and was rocked by a huge right. Drysdale tried to recover, but his legs were wobbly. "Abongo" put the finishing touch on with an uppercut that knocked Drysdale out cold.

Ron Humphrey (8-3) beat Robert Drysdale (2-1) by KO in 1:57 of round 1

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/MarcosRogeriodeLima-1.gif vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/AntwainBritt-1.gif

Marcos Rogério de Lima (8-0) vs. Antwain Britt (11-5)

To say Britt dominated round one would be an understatement. He rocked "Pezao" early and almost finished the fight after getting the knockdown and delivering some monster hammer fists. "Pezao" looked much better in the second round as he scored with some good dirty boxing and landed several nice leg kicks. Britt looked very tired and may have left everything he had back in the first round. "Pezao" controlled the standup in the third round as well and continued to chop down the legs of Britt.

Marcos Rogério de Lima (9-0) beat Antwain Britt (11-6) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3

Strikeforce Announces Strikeforce Challengers 17:

Welterweight, Bobby Voelker (23-8) vs. Marius Žaromskis (16-6, 1 NC) - Voelker is taking a huge step up in competition in this fight and is looking to prove he belongs among the top of the welterweight division. Žaromskis was unsuccessful in his attempt to secure a guaranteed title shot in the welterweight tournament back in March. He made it to the finals, but was upset by Norman Paraisy. The winner of this matchup will definitely move one step closer to a title shot.

Heavyweight, Dave Bautista (0-1) vs. John Devine (7-4) - Bautista failed to live up to the hype in his MMA and Strikeforce debut. He will have another chance to prove he belongs in the cage, but a loss here will badly hurt his credibility. Devine is looking for his third straight victory and also holds a victory over the man who defeated Bautista, Brandon Cash. The Strikeforce brass will certainly have their fingers crossed that Bautista comes out on the winning end in this fight, otherwise their investment may have been for nothing.

Middleweight, Bruno Santos (8-0) vs. Benji Radach (21-6, 1 NC) - After Marcos Rogério de Lima was successful in his Strikeforce debut, Strikeforce officials went out and signed another top Brazilian prospect in Santos. He has looked great thus far in his career, but will be facing the very experienced Radach. Radach will be trying to snap his current 2 fight losing streak by using his famous "Face Smashing Fu."

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_BenSaunders.jpg vs. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z391/JayT23/th_ScottSmith.gif

Welterweight, Ben Saunders (10-4-2) vs. Scott Smith (17-8, 1 NC) - Saunders was also unsuccessful in the welterweight tournament as he was defeated by Žaromskis in the second round. Smith is coming off back to back brutal knockouts to Cung Le and Paul Daley. He really needs a victory here to stay relevant. One thing is for sure, this one should be explosive.

Prelims:

Welterweight, Nathan Coy (8-4) vs. Gregor Gracie (4-1)

Welterweight, Igor Gracie (3-2) vs. Bret Bergmark (7-1-1)

Lightweight, Ryan Couture (1-1) vs. Josh LaBerge (8-4)
