Okay, time to ask, Mr. Ryland, what is the secret to going beyond 90.0 popularity?

Recommended Posts

You have publicly stated there is no "10-Point Rule" where you have to score a show 10 points above your popularity to gain popularity.

Yet, despite that, at least from 80.0 on (didn't test below that so no comment there), I have always had to score 10 points above my popularity to gain popularity. Starting at 80, an 89 would net no gain and a 90 would net a 0.2 gain. Same with 81-91, 82-92, 83-93, 84-94, 85-95, okay you get the idea.

Here's the question of the day: when I have 90.0 popularity, all gains come to a complete full stop. I have scored multiple 100s in previous saves and gained absolutely nothing from 90.0 on up.

So here I am, just asking you to reveal the secret. You said you can gain all the way up to 100.0, and I'm asking from the bottom of my heart, how? What is the secret to getting past the 90.0 threshold? I can't figure it out. I can score 100 after 100 and gain nothing. I think the most I racked up in my previous save (it's been deleted so I can't check) was FIVE 100s, and no gain in popularity at the 90.0 threshold.

I'm begging now, on my hands and knees, please reveal the secret, because I have no flipping clue.

I understand where you are coming from but I don't think that Adam would let you in on how this works because I think he wants us to figure that out. I can totally see your frusteration though because right now in my NYCW Game I keep rising to Regional and then falling back down to Small (My Origional Size) each month. I can't seem to keep my popularity up when I fall in size I ususally release people but since I keep going back and forth I am not doing that.

Most product types are set to Normal to start with, meaning no bonuses and I don't remember any product settings you've had being in line with the default starting plusses of Mainstream (Very Popular) and Traditional (Popular).

I think almost everything else has been covered at some point in the past but I can't recall Trends ever being brought up before. And I've never bothered spamming numbers enough to get to that level of popularity... as long as I stay National+ I've always been happy enough to just run the storylines I want to run without caring too much about the numbers.

Well I only in update 2.0 made starting trends for the DreamVerse (and changed the era data to be more in line with IWF's product, because in the mod, IWF is supposed to be "easy mode") so my current game is going to be the first one where my product starts trending (and wow has that done wonders for my attendance, my PPVs are garnering 50,000 easy at just 90 popularity and my main show can get up to almost 25,000), but I'm early in and not up to the level of being able to put on the great shows yet, though the "10-Point Rule" still seems to be in play since my 86, 87, and 86 haven't given me any popularity (in my regions where my popularity is 80; IWF starts at 90 in the Great Lakes region, 80 in most other areas, and 60 in Puerto Rico). It'll take me a few months of game time to start getting into the 90s and up to 100 this time. The trend is in line with my product this time, though (Key Feature Cult [Very Popular Trend], Heavy Hardcore [Popular Trent], Medium Traditional [Very Popular Trend], Medium Modern [Popular Trend], Medium Positive effect on my product), but it'll be a while to finish testing the final product this time. Trends were the last thing I put in the mod to start.

Speaking of which I hope Sendspace can fix their problem soon so I can upload the finished mod, which is 100% done unless someone wants to do other game areas for it.

Honestly, I've never ran a promotion that big. That said, I have seen popularity growths from shows no where near 10 points higher than my current pop, and that was at around 60-70 pop. I thought there was a 10 point rule at the time, but it's just a very, very slow gain if you don't get the show raised popularity message, I think. Honestly, though, it should be very difficult to get a promotion higher than 90. That promotion would probably be bigger than NFL!
