The Atlantic Connection

One of Mid Atlantic Wrestling's best tag teams are bringing their talents to Nashville. They will be facing the Music City Tag Team Champions, The Nation of Filth, at the FTC Cup Challenge. The titles will be on the line and could you imagine if a Mid Atlantic team were to walk away with the Music City Tag Team Titles? Not something anyone here in Music City Wrestling wants to worry about. Grunt and Stink have been on a tear so it may be a hard task for Curtis Jenkins and Riley McManus. One thing is for sure, this young and scrappy team is going to give it their all out there. Everyone in Nashville should be excited to see one of the up-and-coming teams in action. They should serve as a spark for the rest of a great card that is the FTC Cup Challenge.

First Round Match

FTC Cup Tournament

The Big Problem vs. Tribal Warrior

  • These two monsters wasted no time going at it, trading punch-after-punch until they both needed a timeout. Tribal Warrior would then grab hold for the beginning of the match.
  • This hard hitting affair could have went in either direction, but The Big Problem's height and youth helped him get good ground. The Big Problem had this thing all but wrapped up when...
  • Ford Gumble came down to the ring and distracted The Big Problem. Once Tribal Warrior got his bearings, he turned The Big Problem around and hit him with a huge chop to the neck.

Music City Tag Team Championship Match

The Nation of Filth © vs. The Atlantic Connection

  • The Nation of Filth started this match by dominating the opposition. They didn't let Jenkins or McManus get any offense in at all. Grunt and Stink just continued to hammer away.
  • Years-and-years of tag work put the team of Grunt and Stink in the position of being able to use their bond to their advantage. Team moves were at the premium in this one.
  • It looked like The Nation of Filth were never going to let up. They just continued to pretty much destroy The Atlantic Connection. Then the young guns started to comeback.
  • Jenkins and McManus started to use stamina to their liking, showing that it can control a match more than destruction. They were knocking the dirt of The Nation of Filth.
  • It looked like The Atlantic Connection was going to head back to Mid Atlantic with the titles until Stink hit a low-blow on Jenkins while Dewey Libertine's back was turned and got the pin.

First Round Match

FTC Cup Tournament

Charlie Thatcher vs. Gregory Henn

  • The most hated man in Music City Wrestling in the ring with one of the men that the fans of Music City Wrestling couldn't love any more than they do right now.
  • Gregory Henn surprisingly put up a good fight for a while against the bruiting Charlie Thatcher. He used what got him the nickname "The Savant of Wrestling", but it wasn't enough.
  • Henn had Charlie Thatcher calculated correctly and was ready to catch and stop Thatcher from hitting a Big Boot, but Thatcher's strength was too much and the boot got him anyways.

First Round Match

FTC Cup Tournament

Fumihiro Ota vs. Ford Gumble

  • These two veterans are actually very familiar with each-other from their days in that one promotion in Hollywood. They know each-other's strengths...and weaknesses.
  • "Super Ninja" has been on a roll as of late, but Ford Gumble looked more determined in this match. He controlled the match until he accidentally hit Dewey Libertine with a flying forearm.
  • The Big Problem came out from the back and Gumble met him outside of the ring. The Big Problem hit him with a Chokeslam and rolled him into the ring. That was all she wrote.

First Round Match

FTC Cup Tournament

Sgt. Bubba Lee West vs. Ricky Dale Johnson

  • Both of these men have the same strong-suit, brawling. The crowd wanted a brawl out of these two men and that is exactly what they were given. A hell of a one at that.
  • In one of the hardest hitting, most brutal matches that has ever happened in Music City Wrestling, these competitors put on a great match for the Nashville crowd. The fans ate it up.
  • Sgt. Bubba Lee West survived as long as he could with RDJ, but he couldn't get a win. Ricky Dale put an end to an epic brawl when he hit West with the Southern Justice to get the win.

Second Round Match

FTC Cup Tournament

Charlie Thatcher vs. Tribal Warrior

  • Tribal Warrior had himself one tough path to walk in this tournament. First, he has to face The Big Problem then he faces Charlie Thatcher. Warrior is always down for a fight, though.
  • There was just something about this match that didn't seem right. Even from the get-go, the two big men didn't click at all. This was a sloppy one, maybe because they were tired.
  • It seemed like both of them tried to rely too much on the ground attack. It was becoming apparent that these guys couldn't go very long and the crowd let them have it.
  • Charlie Thatcher tried to rely on villainous tactics to try and get ahead in this one but Tribal Warrior snuffed them out. Warrior then started to go on attack and wouldn't let-up.
  • Tribal Warrior was setting up to finish this thing out when Charlie Thatcher raked his eyes then hit a piledriver. He capped this win off with a Crusher Legdrop that shook the building.

Second Round Match

FTC Cup Tournament

Fumihiro Ota vs. Ricky Dale Johnson

  • What the Nashville crowd got here was a match that they have been waiting to see since Music City Wrestling started at the beginning of the year and oh, was it a good one.
  • The match started out with the guys playing "Super Ninja" Fumihiro Ota's game. There was a lot of holds and mat wrestling involved in that part of the match, which Ota dominated.
  • Then the tides changed and things started to go in the way of RDJ. The men started to exchange blows. This is where the match really shined and got the crowd on it's feet.
  • Things got interesting after a while of this back-and-forth strike display that they were putting on. Things eventually went to the outside, which enticed the crowd even more.
  • They were trading blows until Ota looked for the Ninja Strike but missed. RDJ nailed Ota with a huge punch that knocked him in the crowd. RDJ returned to the ring before the 10-count.

FTC Cup Match

FTC Cup Tournament

Ricky Dale Johnson vs. Charlie Thatcher

  • A rematch of what should have been a great fight a couple months ago at Pushing the Tempo. Also, this is exactly what Ricky Dale Johnson wanted, Charlie Thatcher in the ring with him.
  • The crowd let their anger towards Thatcher show when they showered him with boos from right when he came out from behind the curtain until he eventually locked up with RDJ.
  • These two wasted no time getting into an all-out fistfight. They traded hooks and jabs for several minutes. Dewey Libertine didn't even bother getting in-between the two.
  • They slowly turned this display into a true wrestling match. Charlie Thatcher tried to play the power game, while Ricky Dale laid it on thick with ground-and-pound.
  • Charlie Thatcher's shear body and size got him the upper-hand for part of the match. It looked like he was going to tear RDJ's head clean off with a few powerful clotheslines.
  • Ricky Dale finally started to comeback on his former best-friend. He nailed some pretty damaging moves to Thatcher. Then, Jack Griffith came out to ringside...
  • Griffith tried to distract Ricky Dale, which it looked like he did. Thatcher attempted to boot RDJ when his back was turned, but RDJ ducked and rolled Thatcher up for the three count.

Ricky Dale Johnson, immediately after the match, turned his attention towards Jack Griffith. He rolled out of the ring and "Southern Justice" took-off to the back. RDJ didn't waste following, just grabbed his trophy and a microphone and hopped back into the ring. He sat the trophy right in front of a distraught Charlie Thatcher.

Ricky Dale Johnson

Finally...finally, I got you in the ring for a whole match, Thatcher. Better yet, that match gave me a title shot any place, any time against that coward of a champion, Jack Griffith. What did I do to repay you for all the things you've done to me over the past few months, Thatcher? I beat you! Maybe that is vengeance enough...I don't know. The one thing that has bothered me this whole time is the question I've asked many times before but never got an answer. Why, Charlie? We used to be best-friends, we used to inseparable. We were like family, then you do all of this? Why?...

Charlie Thatcher

You took away my future, Ricky! You took away our future! We had it made in Hollywood until the boss' wife starts catching your eye. Next thing I know, you're out of work and I'm stranded there without my best-friend. How do you think it feels working for someone that hates your best-friend, therefore hates you? I had to get out of there. Then it dawned on me, "RDJ did this all for himself." You did all of this just so you could become the guy in charge somewhere. I saw through your little plan, Ricky. Someone had to stop it, who better than the guy who knows you the best. But I see now, Ricky, that you just did what was best for you. You offered me a spot when you left Hollywood and I didn't take it. You were looking out for me. For everything I've done, I'm sorry. Sorry, Ricky...

RDJ looked to the crowd for maybe a little guidance, but he eventually put a hand out to Charlie Thatcher. Thatcher then looked to the crowd to see what they think he should do. Thatcher then shook Ricky Dale's hand, then the two embraced in a hug, a long one...

SOUTHERN JUSTICE!

Ricky Dale stood over Thatcher's body just shaking his head. That was one of the most devastating Southern Justices that RDJ has ever performed, nailing down a perfect way to put Thatcher in his place.

Ricky Dale Johnson

You saw through my plan, Thatcher?! If by plan, you mean falling in love with one of the most bangin' women on the planet then coming back to a town that I hold so close to my heart, Nashville, and opening a wrestling company that all these people can come to love and respect, then sure I had a plan all-along. Truth is, Charlie, I loved you like a brother. You come here and you screw me out of a title more than once, you align yourself with people like Jack Griffith. I've lost all respect for you, Charlie. You used to be my bud, but now you're nothing to me! Now maybe you will realize that messing with me was a big mistake and how better it is to be on my good side. As for this trophy, believe me, I'm going to make this count. I'm going to be atop the mountain that is Music City Wrestling. I'm going to win the Music City Championship!

Off the heels of the FTC Cup Challenge, there are things that have been revealed that shed some light on the happenings between two of Music City's biggest stars and rivals. Also, there is new tension in the air as Ricky Dale Johnson won the FTC Cup Tournament to become the top contender for the Music City Championship. That means he can cash the opportunity in at anytime he wants to. That puts pressure on the current champ, "Southern Justice" Jack Griffith. Also, Charlie Thatcher finally revealed why he has been making Ricky Dale Johnson's life a living hell these past few months. He claimed he thought Ricky Dale came to Nashville for himself. Thatcher later apologized, but was met with a devastating Southern Justice by Johnson for the troubles he has caused him. This month at Sound of Madness, those two men will be in a match that might prove to be the end of a rivalry that should have never started to begin with.

In a tag team main-event that will get the Nashville crowd on the edge of their seats, it will be the team of The Big Problem and Charlie Thatcher going up against Ford Gumble and Ricky Dale Johnson. At the FTC Cup Challenge, The Big Problem and Charlie Thatcher cost each-other their respective matches in the FTC Cup Tournament, most likely due to their heated fights over the majority of the year. As obvious anger pours over into Sound of Madness, it will be interesting to see how this match plays out. With a team of two monsters, like Thatcher and The Big Problem, their opponents will have their hands full. Thing is, Ford Gumble and Ricky Dale Johnson are two of the most experienced men in Music City Wrestling today. When these two teams butt heads, there will be intense action and most likely some missing teeth.

Although Ricky Dale Johnson is the contender for the Music City Championship, that isn't stopping someone else from fighting for it at Sound of Madness. "Southern Justice" Jack Griffith will be putting his title on the line against Tribal Warrior. Tribal Warrior defeated Griffith in his debut a few months back at Pushing the Tempo. Many believe that merits a title shot for Tribal Warrior, which it is hard to argue against. Tribal Warrior is one of the most savage and powerful men in wrestling, top that with the added threat that Ricky Dale Johnson could be waiting to strike at any moment from winning the FTC Cup, Jack Griffith has a lot on his table come Sound of Madness. Griffith has went this long with not having to defend the title more than once, maybe it is his time to prove that he deserves to be the champion. One thing is for certain, that match will be a barn-burner.

One man who continues to impress, even though he is looked at as a villain, is "Super Ninja" Fumihiro Ota. He may have been bested by Ricky Dale Johnson in the FTC Cup Tournament, but Ota has been able to dominate the Music City Wrestling roster from top-to-bottom since the beginning. At Sound of Madness, it will be Fumihiro Ota against "The Teen Dream" Brendan Idol. Idol has been talked-up as being one of the younger guys who should be able to shine through in Nashville to become a big star. He has been on a winning-streak as of late, but with Fumihiro Ota in his way, it might be a little hard to keep that thing going. With that being said, Idol brings a lot of excitement and with Kali Fornia in his corner, matches seem to get won by this guy. Maybe Idol can propel into greatness here in Music City or maybe Fumihiro Ota will continue to show his dominance.

That's not all the action that will be put on display at Sound of Madness. Hugh de Aske will be battling it out with "The Savant of Wrestling" Gregory Henn. Both of these men have tremendous upside and this one should prove to be a great match. In tag action, it will be the team of Stan "The Man" Manna and Sgt. Bubba Lee West versus Johnny Heizenger and Mark Smart. This match has special implications, as the winner will get a shot at the Music City Tag Team Titles next month at Curtain Call. You know these guys will be putting it all on the line for a shot at gold. With these matches on the card, you shouldn't be sitting at home so come down to the Nashville Fairgrounds the last Saturday of June for Sound of Madness!
