MFC ANNOUNCE PAUL FALK AS NEW CEO

Paul Falk, a relative unknown in the World of Mixed Martial Arts, was last night shockingly installed as the new CEO of Canadian MMA company MFC, writes Matt Edwards. He is said to have been given almost total control over the direction of the promotion, with everything from match-making to merchandise being his responsibility. A desperate move by a desperate company, or a masterstroke that will help take them to the next level? Time will tell, and mmajunkie.com will keep you posted

Grove overcomes adversity to win MFC Middleweight Grand Prix

MFC's first show under new ownership was a great success. Four MMA veterans lined up to take part in the Middleweight Grand Prix; Kendall Grove, Patrick Coté, Jorge Santiago and Dennis Kang.

In the opening bout Santiago controlled Coté on the mat with superior grappling. This was the case through both rounds 1 and 2. As it looked like Santiago was heading for the unanimous decision victory Coté landed a huge straight right that knocked out Santiago.

In the second bout Kendall Grove struggled with the superior wrestling of Dennis Kang who dominated round 1 with solid top control. Grove kept active of his back with numerous triangle and kimura attempts with no success. During round 2 Kang's top control was again a factor and he even managed to catch Grove with some big punches. As soon as round 3 began Grove struck Kang with a huge straight right that knocked him out, face first into the ground.

The final was full of drama, looking like something from a movie. For 4 rounds Coté jacked Grove on the feet dropping him continuously dropping him. Grove has some success with takedowns but was unable to do much. Late into the fourth round Coté again connected, this time with a huge upercut, Grove's eyes rolled back and he tumbled to the floor in a heap. Coté pounced in and rained down punches but somehow Grove caught an arm, got a kimura and wrenched Coté's arm securing the submission victory.

MFC are expected to announce their next card within the next few days.

Veteran Healy proves to be too much for young gun Lima

Pat Healy last night won the MFC Lightweight title after a dominating but uneventful win over young start Dhiego Lima.

Lima was surprisingly the one who was consistently looking for the takedown, however had very little success as Healy sprawled almost every attempt. Healy then picked apart Lima on the feet with precise boxing and varied angles.

Lima had this to say "Well done to Pat, I'm still learning, I'm only young. I've got a bright future ahead of me and this is just a minor blip, my next fight I will return victorious."

Healy said "I stuck to my gameplan, keep it on the feet and keep moving. I used awkward angles making it hard for him to strike or get takedowns and it worked. I'm delighted with the win."

In the co-main event Danny Valimaki tore Tyrone Glover apart. Valimaki dropped Glover with a sharp right hook, Glover dropped and Valimaki got mount and pounded away with strikes. All Glover could do was turn over and give up his back where Valimaki managed to get the rear naked choke for the victory.

  • 2 weeks later...
I'm really enjoying this. I like a good dynasty, but it's really great to see a smaller, real world promotion ran realistically.

+1.

This is prob the first time I have posted in any dynasty thread but this one is worth it. Damn solid and like Tag said, running it 'properly'.

Good stuff.
