In a move that shocked the world of MMA, Anderson "the Spider" Silva, announced his intent to move up to the Light Heavyweight division. While this came as a shock to many, Chael Sonnen, speaking to anyone who would listen, stated, "I told you he wouldn't fight me." While many were disappointed that the Silva-Sonnen fight would not be happening, this surprising move sets up an even bigger fight versus Jon Jones! In other news, following the announcement by Anderson Silva, both Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Lyoto Machida announced their intent to move down to the Middleweight Division.

News from the biggest events of the first 6 Months:

UFC 145: Jones Vs. Silva for the Light Heavyweight Title

In what could easily be the biggest event for the UFC ever, Jon Jones and Anderson Silva met at UFC 145. The event included 4 Light Heavyweight fights. In the first LHW fight of the night Forrest Griffin bounced back from a loss to Shogun against Phil Davis, albeit in a highly controversial split decision victory. Alexander Gustafsson made the most of his opportunty to fight fellow fast rising LHW contender Ryan Bader by winning in decisive fashion by KO in the 3rd round.

In the Co-Main event, a dejected Rashad Evans, who made his displeasure known at the UFC's insistence to replace him with Anderson Silva in the main event, put on a show against a game Dan "Hendo" Henderson. Evans won every round of a 3 round war in route to securing a shot at the title in his next fight. During his post fight interview, Rashad told Joe Rogan that, "I'm looking forward to meeting Anderson Silva in the Octagon". Always ready to take a shot at Jon Jones the affable Rashad Evans walked out of the cage to a chorus of cheers and a smattering of boo's.

In the main event, the moment the crowd had been waiting for, was about to take place and despite Rashad's comments, many in attendance were rooting for Jon Jones to lay claim to the #1 P4P title against Anderson Silva. The fight did not disappoint as Jones dominated the first two rounds, winning the second frame 10-8 on all of the judges scorecards. The tide shifted in the 3rd, as Anderson began to time Jones with relative ease as he stunned the champ with strikes several times. In the 4th, Anderson came on strong, and in an uncharacteristic move, went for and secured the take down on Jones. After dropping two vicious elbows, Anderson easily passed the champs guard and secured the guillotine choke for a win by tap out! And just like that a new LHW champion is crowned and the myth of Jon Jones was dispelled.

In the post fight presser, Dana White indicated that a matchup with Dan Henderson was most likely in the cards for Jones next, and that he fully expects Jones to learn from his fight with Silva and to, one day, reclaim his title. Only time will tell . . .
