The Beginning

The Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts is the pioneer of mixed martial arts organisation in the United States of America, the company is ahead of its time due to unified rules of mixed martial arts and weight divisions being enforced. The company has installed Matt Tripp as CEO and Matchmaker who aims to build a local base using fighters from North America before expanding event locations to various places around the country and then the world.

GAMMA Debut Set To Be Live On Pay-Per-View

The Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts is set to debut in February in the first mixed martial arts event in the United States of America and now it will be available on pay-per-view via Public Access Select. This is a big step for GAMMA as they will be able to access viewers from around the country as they look to bring the sport to the attention of the public. In further news, CEO Matt Tripp has told the media that three title fights will be included on the card. “I believe this will be the best way to start our organisation and get things moving forward” said Tripp. It’s yet to be seen whether this method will work out for GAMMA with the company having such a small roster so far but how it effects the company’s future only time will tell.

Eugene Clough vs. Vincent Chapin

In a match that pitted two wrestlers up against one another it was striking which played the biggest part during this bout. Late in the first round Clough managed to catch Chapin coming in wildly and land three consecutive heavy shots which put his opponent to the floor, Clough attempted to finish the fight but Chapin was saved by the bell. The next two rounds saw the stand-up go in Chapin’s favour as he tightened up his technique and was able to out point Clough from the outside landing numerous strikes to take the fight 29-28.

GAMMA Light Heavyweight Title Bout

Bill Cumming vs. Jasper Osmond

Coming into the bout many expected Bill Cumming to easily dispense of Jasper Osmond but things didn’t turn out as expected early on. Osmond dominated the first four rounds through technical striking and terrific take down defence and had secured every round coming into the fifth. Cumming showing absolute desperation threw technique out the window and managed to catch Osmond on the chin and eventually pound him out for the victory. Osmond was extremely unlucky not to come out of the cage with the win but after such a terrific performance he could easily state his case for a rematch.

Cumming defeated Osmond by TKO (Strikes) in 3:22 of Round 5

GAMMA Middleweight Title Bout

Nigel Malley vs. Greg Atteveld

Set up to be the classic striker vs. grappler fight to see who would become the GAMMA Middleweight Champion, Malley and Atteveld put each other to the test for 25 minutes. The first three rounds saw Malley avoid the takedown and get the better of the striking but Atteveld was still managing to land some punches despite being up against someone who was seen to be the far superior stand up fighter. Atteveld proved he was able to use his hands by doing some serious damage to Malley’s nose during the fourth round which saw the a fair amount of blood hit the canvas. In the final round Atteveld finally secured the takedown and attempted numerous submissions before the bell sounded. In the end though it was Malley’s early dominance that saw him take a very close split decision victory.

GAMMA Heavyweight Title Bout

Rick Stanley vs. Jack Cobblepot

The main event of the evening between Rick Stanley and Jack Cobblepot was over much quicker than everyone had anticipated but without a doubt it didn’t disappoint. Cobblepot came out and managed to force Stanley up against the cage within the first minute but Stanley was able to reverse the position and land a solid right hand. Cobblepot was down but not out on the floor with Stanley standing over him to apply the finishing touches in a terrific finish.

Stanley defeated Cobblepot by TKO (Strikes) in 1:51 of Round 1

Malley Injury Alters Plans For GAMMA 2

The Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts, fresh off a successful first event in Nevada which included three title defences had already laid out plans to put together a similar event in California for their second outing. This plan would have gone ahead if not for new middleweight champion Nigel Malley suffering a severely broken nose in his fight with Greg Atteveld. He now faces up to 6 months on the sidelines with a rematch with Greg Atteveld or a fight with Barrett Forde now out of the question. The two fighters are now expected to fight at the next event with the winner awaiting a title shot once the champion has recovered.

Greg Atteveld v Barrett Forde

Early on in the first round Greg Atteveld rocked Forde after the wrestler attempted a takedown with a solid right hook but despite eventually working his way onto Forde’s back Atteveld was unable to finish the fight. The next round saw Forde opt to keep the fight upright, not allowing the jiu-jitsu based Atteveld get the fight to the ground as Forde dominated the stand up to take the second round. Coming out into the final round Atteveld capitalised on his fatigued opponent by out striking him for the entire round to take the victory.

Jack Cobblepot v Eugene Clough

This match-up pitted two fighters against each other who were similar in numerous ways the question was who is better at what they do. Two wrestlers who like to smother their opponent and inflict damage and due to Cobblepot & Clough being of similar size it was all going to come down to technique. In the first round Clough got the better of the strikes but was unable to stay upright as Cobblepot landed a shot underneath a right cross to get the takedown and control the round. Striking was the main factor in the next round with neither fighter able to get the fight to the ground with the striking even the round was up in the air. The final round saw the higher level of conditioning for Jack Cobblepot come into the play as he was able to dominate the stand up and get a takedown to secure the victory.

GAMMA Light Heavyweight Title Bout

Bill Cumming vs. Jasper Osmond

The rematch for the GAMMA Light Heavyweight Title the main talking point prior to the event with many fans debating back and forth about who would come out victorious and it proved to be a very entertaining bout. Early on both fighters took their time attempting to find their distrance but eventually Cumming found an opportunity for the takedown, proceeding to get Osmond’s back but unable to sink in the choke before the end of the bell. The second round saw Osmond do what he was so effective at in the first bout by capitalising with counter striking and sprawling when the takedown was attempted. Osmomd tried to continue this plan in the third but was caught with a sequence of three massive right hands knocking him down as Cumming secured the mount and pounded away for the finish.

GAMMA Hevyweight Title Bout

Rick Stanley vs. Vincent Chapin

In the main event of the evening the key for the challenger was securing a takedown, Rick Stanley came out with numerous leg kicks clearly trying to slow down the movement of Chapin and late in the first round Stanley was able to land a left but the bell sounded before he got a chance to capitalise. The second round saw Stanley rush his opponent landing blow after blow up against the cage until he was standing over the top of Chapin pounding away which left the referee no choice but to stop the fight.

Malley Set To Face Atteveld At GAMMA 3

Nigel Malley has recovered from injury and is expected to headline the next GAMMA event in a rematch with Greg Atteveld. The two fought to a split decision in which Malley was given the nod and when Greg Atteveld defeated previous number one contender Barrett Forde at GAMMA 2 a rematch was set up. “I don’t mind fighting him for a second time, the first fight was close and I plan on ensuring that a third match will not be needed in the future” said Malley. “My nose has completely healed and in no way alters my breathing anymore so there will be no excuses if I don’t come away with the victory” he added.

In other news the organisation had signed two new fighters in Milton Harvey (Heavyweight) and Ernie Bruns (Light Heavyweight) both of which will be competing at the event. Their opponents are expected to be named in the next few days.
