WWF: 1987 End of a Golden Era.

I loved your Randy Savage interview on the last Superstars, and especially the opening you had with Hogan and the Heenan Family. A few inconsistencies and minor nitpicks here and there aside (like Bret Hart using the Sharpshooter 5 years before he did IRL) you're doing well at this, at least well enough that I been silently reading since you started it.

Keep your chin up, man, things are well.

We are in Ontario at the Maple Leaf Gardens. I have worked with Jack Tunney over the last couple of weeks throwing this tag team tournament together. For the short time we had we almost sell the place out. 14,626 was the final count. All and all was a very nice tournament with many people liking the show.

I hear it from the grapevine however that The Dynamite Kid got into a screaming match with one of the fans that almost lead to a full blown altercation. I check with Briscoe on the matter and he confirms it. I walk into the dressing room to see who is still here and Dynamite Kid is still in the locker room. I ask him for a moment of his time outside. He gives me that you got to be kidding look.

I ask him what happened and at first he denies it but eventually comes clean. He tells me some punk kid was hacking and coughing all over him while wanting a autograph. The kid actually spit up alittle and sprayed him. I tell him I understand why he got riled up but he cannot get into it like that with a paying customer. And even if I do understand the anger he must compose himself enough to walk away if needed. The Dynamite Kid starts yelling at me about how he cant believe this crap. I'm making it out to be way worse than it actually was. This is bull****! Before storming away. Gerald Briscoe was behind me and witnessed it. He tells me to let him calm down a bit and he would talk with him later.

A few days pass and I am back at Wwf Headquarters. Briscoe gives me the results for last weeks random drug screens. I see two who have failed. Barry Darsow and Don Muraco. I ask Briscoe how did I get nominated for handling theses results? He tells me since I jumped in and started speaking my mind on the matter McMahon told us to run the results through you. Note to self, keep mouth shut for now on.

Muraco I always suspected. He has been here for a very long time, he is still one of our better brawlers and can still incite a crowd well. But I really don't have anything planned for him. Darsow on the other hand kinda threw me. I had planned on giving him and Bill Eadie a small push to line them up for something bigger down the road. If I suspend JYD, I think it sends the wrong message by giving them a pass. I recommend both to be suspended.

Thanks Beejus. I could probably go through it myself and find alot of things. And your right about Hart. i couldn't remember anything special other than the Russian Legsweep. But I decided to keep it simple that away I don't get lost myself. Glad you are liking the Hogan situation. It is far from over if what I have planned works out.

I like what your doing. I am a fan I keep coming on here just to read your dynasty. So please keep it up.

Thanks Alcarasus. Glad you are enjoying it as well. i truly am honored you feel that way. But please do not limit yourself to my work. There are a lot of more talented writers than myself on these boards. But I do enjoy the compliment.

WWF Superstars of Wrestling TV Taping

Thursday Week 2 April 1987

College Park MD

Gorilla Monsoon, Jesse Ventura, and Vince McMahon welcome us to the show. The three let us know we are a few weeks away from Saturday Nights Main Event on NBC. Lets get ready for our first match of the night.

Harley Race with Bobby Heenan and Nick Bockwinkel VS Koko B Ware

Koko is in his corner ready to pounce as the Race and his entourage enter the ring. Bobby Heenan calls for a microphone and tells us to show some proper respect to the next WWF Champion. The fans boo him relentlessly.

Koko goes to work right a way with running forearm that stuns Harley. Koko follows it with dropkick but Harley remains on his feet.

Another dropkick, no Race moves aside causing Koko to crash to the mat.

Race moves slowly and stalls, knee right on the head of Koko.

Race to his feet, measure Koko and delivers a stalling headbutt to the temple of Koko.

Cover by Race gets a two count.

Race pulls up Koko and whips him into the ropes, tilt a whirl back breaker. Race goes for a pin attempt and another two count.

Koko fires back after a few minutes with some headbutts that staggers Race.

Koko runs against the ropes and leaps for a crossbody block, but Race catches him and delivers another tilt a whirl back breaker.

Race pulls Koko up and sets up for a piledriver, BOOM! Race with the cover and the win.

As the ref attends to Koko B Ware, Bobby Heenan and Nick Bockwinkel enter the ring. Bobby again calls for the microphone. Bobby tells us in a matter of days Hogan this same thing is going to happen to you. Race will take your belt, and quite possibly snap your neck in doing so. And there ain't nothing you can do about. Race calls Hogan a disgrace to the sport and he is going to find out that he is nothing more than a mortal man. And like all mortal men they find themselves at the feet of The Real King of professional wrestling, Harley Race. Bockwinkel chimes in, he tells us for years this man as been the decay and ruin of this sport. He ran him out of a territory before, now he will help run Hogan out of the world and back under a rock where he belongs.

George Wells Vs Kamala with King Curtis Iaukea and Kimchee

The bell rings and Kamala charges at Wells, grabs his head and tosses him down to the mat.

Wells back to his feet and Kamala with series of chops staggers wells.

Kamala with a choke on Wells and Tim White the matches referee demands that it be broken. Kamala turns to Tim with a bewildered look on his face before letting go.

Double handed throat thrust puts down Wells.

Kamala runs against the ropes jumps over the prone Wells and hits the other side before landing a Giant Splash.

Kamala has trouble pinning Wells has he tries pinning him on his stomach. Eventually has his man turned right and gets the three count.

Jim Duggan VS Tiger Chung Lee taped previously from Baltimore MD last week.

Stiff hard kicks and punches these two showcase through out the match. Tiger Chung Lee had Jim Duggan in trouble during the match after Lee threw salt into the eyes of Duggan. Lee works slowly landing vicious shots on Duggan. Eventually Duggan comes storming back with hard rights and lefts. A running Clothesline Tackle by Duggan flips Lee end of end securing a win for Duggan.

Vince McMahon reminds us that the match we just witnessed took place before The Iron Sheik and Nikolia's attack on Duggan last week. A video is replayed where Duggan was being interviewed and Sheik and Volkoff attacked Duggan.

George Steele VS Iron Mike Sharpe

George Steele chases Sharpe out of the ring a few times as George clearly psyched his opponent out.

George begins to pull a corner turnbuckle apart and begins to eat the stuffing.

Iron Mike wants no part of this match and is out of the ring heading back to the backstage area saying repeatedly no way. He gets counted out.

Vince McMahon comes into the ring and tries to calm George down. George grabs a hold of the microphone and tries to eat that as well.

Vince begins to pull on the mic but George yanks it out of hands.

George Steele: You, (pauses and bobs head a few times) Randy (head bobs some more), Saturday (Pauses and bobs his head furiously)

George drops the microphone as Jesse Ventura asks what does this mean? Do we have a match or what? Gorilla Monsoon tells us I think we have a match set for Saturday Nights Main Event.

Bruno Sammartino is backstage conducting an interview with Paul Orndorff. He tells us he has been playing Steamboat like fiddle. Strumming him along like some dumb idiot. Orndorff says at Saturday Night's Main Event he will take the Intercontinental Title from Steamboat.

Ricky Steamboat comes in and thrust kicks Paul sending him tumbling back wards. The two men roll around on the floor trading shots at every opportunity. WWF referees storm the area and finally separate the two. Paul says he is gonna break Ricky while Ricky dares Paul to come get some more if he wants to.

Bob Orton and Hercules with Bobby Heenan and Mr Fuji VS The Can-Am Connection.

Martel does the majority of the work for his team tonight.

Bob and Hercules share duties as the two through out the match have been stymied by Martell.

Martel has Bob in trouble with a dropkick followed by a gutwrench suplex on Orton.

Martel tags in Zenk who gets blinded by Orton with a thumb to the eye.

Orton tags in Hercules and goes goes outside of the ring and begins to taunt Rick Martel.

The two go at it on the outside as Hercules slaps on a full nelson.

Zenk tries to fight it but the more he fights the more he wears down.

Eventually Joey Marella the match's referee calls for the bell as Hercules tosses Zenk to the mat.

Hercules rolls out of the ring as Martell after decking Orton rolls into the ring.

Bob Orton, Hercules, Heenan, and Fuji raise each others arms as Martel check on his partner.

A dejected Martel helps Zenk up to his feet. Martel yells at Zenk and shoves him. Zenk for as worn out as he is shoves Martel back. Slap by Martel spins Zenk around. Zenk goes to turn back to Martel who rolls out of the ring and heads back to the backstage area with out looking back at Tom Zenk.

Does this mean the end of the Can-Am Connection? We will hopefully have answers for you soon. Good night everybody.

WWF Wrestling Challenge TV Taping

Friday Week 2 April 1987

Pittsburgh PA

Video with dramatic music and narrated by Vince McMahon. It shows the recent build up between Harley Race, Hulk Hogan, and Nick Bockwinkel. The attacks by Race and Bockwinkel are featured. This is the one story that has taken the WWF by storm. And the match will be seen on NBC Saturday Night's Main Event.

We come out of the video and are welcomed this week by Gorilla Monsoon, Gene Okerlund and Vince McMahon. They talk about the up coming Saturday Night's Main Event and the matches that are signed. Not only Race vs Hogan for the WWF Title, but Ricky Steamboat is poised to defend the title against "Mr Wonderfull" Paul Orndorff. Plus this one has been confirmed, Randy "The Macho Man" Savage vs George Steele in a lumberjack match.

King Kong Bundy VS Koko B Ware

Size and strength vs speed and heart.

Koko does his best to keep the distance between him and Bundy.

Bundy is taking shots in and effort to close the distance on Koko.

Finally he traps Koko in the corner and begins to land some big over hand blows.

Bundy with a Big Splash and a pin for the win. He asks for a five count instead of the normal 3.

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan VS The Assassin

Duggan is leading the chant of USA.

The Assassin starts to punch Duggan and backs him into a corner.

The Assassin with a whip but gets reversed by Duggan with a mighty "WOOOO!"

The Assassin bounces out of the corner and into a clothesline.

Duggan waits for his man to get up and levels him with a Running Clothesline Tackle for the pin.

After the match Duggan is set to leave the ring after some USA chants. Vince steps into the ring and asks for a moment. Vince asks Duggan about his thoughts of being attacked by The Iron Sheik and Nikolia Volkoff? Duggan promises to get his revenge on the the two dastardly foreigners, tough guy!

Dino Bravo and Greg Valentine with Frenchy Martin Vs The Young Stallions.

Dino Bravo does the majority of the work for his team in this match.

The Young Stallions try to double team Dino with some success early in the match.

Frenchy Martin who we last seen was talking to Bam Bam Bigelow is alittle nervous.

The camera pans to Frenchy but there seems to be a familiar face in the crowd trying to keep his identity hidden.

Dino overcomes the double team efforts and finally is able to get Paul Roma separated.

After a press slam on Roma, Dino tags to Valentine who immediately goes to work on Roma's leg.

Figure four leglock applied and Roma quits.

The match is over and Greg calls for the microphone. Frenchy Martin snags the microphone away from Howard Finkel. Greg calls the losses he has had against Brutus Beefcake fluke wins for him. He could beat Brutus easily. He has dominated over Brutus only to have victory taken from him by shoddy officiating. Dino Bravo is the best partner he has ever had. He can do something that Brutus cant do, and thats win.

With that being said the familiar face in the crowd begins to stir and reveals himself to be Brutus Beefcake. He climbs over the rails and slides into the ring as Greg is still proclaiming himself to be so much better than Beefcake. Brutus grabs Frenchy as he turns to see what all of the fuss is about and tosses him out of the ring. Dino turns around and he is met with a kick to the gut and out he gets tossed. Greg and Brutus exchange shots but Beefcake is winning the exchange. He goes to lock on a sleeper but Greg slips out and out of the ring.

The three men make a hasty retreat as Brutus is inviting them back to the ring. Greg turns around and takes a few steps towards the ring before tossing his arms as if to say no way. With that the three men make to backstage as Brutus is left in the ring celebrating.

Honky Tonk Man with Jimmy Hart VS Pedro Morales

HTM does his usual gig about buying his record and hearing him sing. Then decides that the crowd ain't worth it because Pittsburgh ain't showing him enough love.

Pedro goes to lock up but HTM back up and ducks under the ropes.

The two do eventually lock up and Pedro has the advantage with an arm wringer followed by a arm bar.

HTM grabs the ropes but Pedro pull him off of the ropes. Again HTM grabs the ropes and again Pedro pulls HTM off of them.

A few moments pass as Pedro is using his technical skills to wear down HTM.

HTM works Pedro into the corner and uses a knee to the gut to gain the advantage.

Now its HTM working over Pedro. A few slaps by HTM begins to get under the skin of the former Intercontinental Champion.

Pedro fires up and begins to pummel HTM with punches.

But a rake of the eyes by HTM stops him. HTM with a high knee to the head of Pedro stuns him long enough to hit a Shake, Rattle, and Roll on him to pick up the win.

Hercules with Bobby Heenan VS Tito Santana

As the Hercules and Bobby Heenan come down the ring Gorilla Monsoon says that Bobby Heenan and Hercules taped an interview earlier about Billy Jack Haynes. A video box open below and we see the two standing there. Heenan says he hates to say he told you humanoids so, but he told you so. Hercules is rapidly becoming the a true power here in the WWF and as Billy Jack found out recently, Tito Santana will find out next.

After the formal ring introductions are made the two tie up. Hercules tosses Tito Santana into the corner with ease and flexes his muscles.

The two tie up again and again Hercules with ease tosses Tito into the ropes causing Tito to lose his balance for a bit almost falling down. Hercules again flexes drawing th ire of the fans.

The men go to tie up again and its Tito with a couple of quick forearm strikes to the head that staggers Hercules.

Dropkick by Tito and down goes Hercules.

Hercules begs off Tito who goes after him.

Hercules grabs Tito's trunks and pulls him into the corner face first.

Powerbomb by Hercules and he waits behind Tito to get to his feet.

Full Nelson locked in by Hercules as Tito tries to fight out.

Moments pass as it is evident that the hold has taken its toll on Tito.

The ref checks on Tito.

Thats it he calls for the bell.

Hercules drops Tito like yesterday's garbage. He flexes for the cameras as Bobby is pointing at him. And thats all the time we have tonight folks. Thanks for watching.

Go ahead Horseman. Thank you for reading.
