However, everyone knows how tough Leonard Garcia can be! Marloes Coenen And Yana Kunitskaya Both Try To Get Taste Of Defeat Out Of Their Mouths On MTV2 Card!

Saturday, Week 2, April 2014 in Massachusetts, USA

MAIN EVENT

Womens Lightweight: Marloes Coenen (22-6, 2-1 WEC) vs. Yana Kunitskaya (7-2, 3-1 WEC)

Marloes Coenen was cruising through the Womens Lightweight Tournament, scoring submission victories over Colleen Schneider and Cindy Dandois before running headlong into eventual Womens Lightweight Champion Julia Judd, who stopped her in her tracks, handing her a decision loss in the semi-finals! Yana Kunitskaya has a very similar story, as she scored a submission over Tandi Shaeffer, TKO'd Valentina Shevchenko, and took a decision from Rin Nakai, before dropping a decision to Julia Budd in the first ever WEC Womens Lightweight Title Bout!

CO-MAIN EVENT

Featherweight: Joe Stevenson (34-15, 3-0 WEC) vs. Pat Schilling (6-2, 1-0 WEC)

Joe Stevenson started his run in the WEC with a TKO victory over Dane Sayers, then went on to take a split decision from Rolando Delgado, and submit Jens Pulver! Pat Schilling's TKO victory over Brandon Visher in the prelims of WEC 10: Night of Champions stole the show, taking home Fight of the Night honours!

UNDERCARD

Lightweight: Alex Ricci (7-1, 2-1 WEC) vs. John Alessio (33-19, 0-3 WEC)

Alex Ricci began his WEC career with an impressive TKO victory over Carlo Prater, and continued to take a decision from Jose Aguillar, before losing for the first time in his MMA career, when he was submitted in the first round by Joe Ellenberger! This is likely John Alessio's final chance to earn a victory in the WEC cage, he has racked up losses by submission to Kurt Pellegrino, by decision to Efrain Escudero, and by submission to Gregor Gracie!

Bantamweight: Tuerxun Jumabieke (15-1, 0-0 WEC) vs. Angel Huerta (5-1, 1-0 WEC)

Tuerxun Jumabieke appeared on four episodes of BAMMA in 2013, losing only once, he took a decision from Masahiro Oishi, before losing by submission to Akitoshi Tamura, then bounced back to score a submission victory over Chris David, and a decision victory over Nathan Beer! Angel Huerta made his WEC debut last September, and took a poorly fought decision over Lennox Chance!

PRELIMINARY CARD

Featherweight: Freddy Assuncao (6-3, 0-2 WEC) vs. Micah Miller (18-6, 1 NC, 1-1 WEC)

Freddy Assuncao is on the brink of losing his career in the WEC if he can't pick up a victory here, as he has lost by decision to Din Thomas, and was submitted by Mike Corey! However, he will have a stiff task in Micah Miller, Miller failed to get into the house during the fourteenth season of the Ultimate Fighter, and then opened his WEC career with a submission loss to John Gunderson, before bouncing back with a Fight of the Night performance in knocking out Jens Pulver at WEC 6!

Flyweight: Roy Docyogen (9-3, 0-3 WEC) vs. Jonathan Mackles (10-3, 1-1 WEC)

Roy Docyogen is definately on his last legs with the WEC if he can't pick up the victory here, he lost by TKO to Abel Cullum in the first round of the Flyweight Grand Prix, and dropped decisions to Jose Maria Tome, and Joseph Sandoval! He will have a hard opponent however in Jonathan Mackles, who fell by first round TKO to Sergio Pettis in his debut, but bounced back to take a decision from Josh Paiva!

Womens Flyweight: Bethany Marshall (4-3, 0-2 WEC) vs. Sarah McLeod (0-2, 0-2 WEC)

This might just be a loser leaves town fight, as both are teetering on the brink of lengthening their losing streaks! Bethany Marshall took a TKO loss to Carina Damm in the opening round of the Womens Flyweight Grand Prix, and dropped a very poorly fought decision to Lena Ovchynnikova! Meanwhile McLeod was TKO'd in her MMA debut by Jenna Castillo, and was later knocked out by Jessica Eye!

Lightweight: Curtis Garofalo (0-2, 0-2 WEC) vs. Jesse Ronson (9-4, 0-2 WEC)

This could be a big house cleaning show for WEC, as this will likely be another winner stays with the company affair! Garofalo lost his MMA debut by decision to Angelos Zampakikas, and then was submitted by Christian Uflacker! Jesse Ronson meanwhile dropped a decision to Dustin Hazelett in the first round of the Lightweight Grand Prix, and later fell by first round TKO to Patrick Iodice!

CO-MAIN EVENT

Lightweight Semi-Final: T.J. Grant (20-5, 1-0 WEC) vs. Dakota Cochrane (14-4, 2-1 WEC)

The second semi-final of a tournament that will act as a title eliminator at 155! A wrestling champion in the province of Nova Scotia, T.J. Grant has also developed decent jiu jitsu, and a solid base in Muay Thai to complement those skills, he picked up a victory in his WEC debut, taking a decision over Chris Horodecki! Dakota Cochrane also has strong wrestling and striking, and is tough to take down, he TKO'd Kyle Bradley in the opening round of the Lightweight Title Grand Prix, before bowing out in the quarter-finals, being submitted by Lightweight Champion Richie Whitson, he bounced back however, recently taking a decision from Gregor Gracie!

UNDERCARD

Flyweight: Ian McCall (11-4-1, 0-0 WEC) vs. Abel Cullum (20-8, 2-2 WEC)

Ian McCall was let go by the UFC after going 0-2-1 in three fights with the promotion, fighting to a majority draw with Demetrious Johnson before dropping a decision to Mighty Mouse in a bout that saw Johnson go on to fight for the first ever UFC Flyweight Championship, just before being released he was defeated by second round TKO by Joseph Benavidez at UFC 160! Freestyle fighter Abel Cullum is no stranger to WEC fans, having fought in the cage four times for the companies newest incarnation! He TKO'd Roy Docyogen in the first round to advance in the Flyweight Title Grand Prix, before bowing out in the semi-finals, losing to Will Campuzano by technical submission! He then bounced back with a decision victory over Josh Ferguson, but in his most recent fight took the decision loss against Darrell Montague!

Lightweight Semi-Final: Dennis Hallman (53-15-2, 2-1 WEC) vs. Dustin Hazelett (14-8, 2-1 WEC)

Dennis Hallman has been around a long time, a submission fighter, he also has great takedown, and submission defense, but his stand-up is lacking, and he is well known to have his issues with cardio, which could become a factor if the fight goes the distance! He opened his WEC career, grinding out a split decision victory over Efrain Escudero in the first round of the Lightweight Title Grand Prix, before losing a unanimous verdict to Kyle Watson in the quarter-final, he bounced back with a decision victory over Anthony Njokuani! Dustin Hazelett is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, with an amazing arsenal of submissions, however his takedown defense isn't very good, and his stand up game barely exists at all, he has much better conditioning than Hallman however, which could become a factor in the late rounds! He opened his WEC career with a decision victory over Jesse Ronson in the opening round of the Lightweight Title Grand Prix, before losing out in the semi-final, dropping a decision to Andre Winner, he later bounced back, taking a decision from Anthony Njokuani!

Featherweight: Darren Elkins (15-2, 0-0 WEC) vs. Charles Oliveira (16-4, 1 NC, 0-0 WEC)

Darren Elkins was a head scratcher of a release by the WEC, as he was let go in the midst of a four fight winning streak, that included decision victories over Michihiro Omigawa, Tie Quan Zhang, Diego Brandao, and Cody McKenzie, he will in fact make his WEC debut tonight against the last man to beat him, Charles Oliveira, who was released by the UFC following the loss of two straight fights, being knocked out by Cub Swanson, and Robert Peralta!

Womens Lightweight: Cindy Dandois (7-2, 2-1 WEC) vs. Lalani Malley-Mancao (3-0, 2-0 WEC)

Belgian grappler Cindy Dandois made a splash in her WEC debut, handing highly ranked Muay Thai fighter Gina Carano a decision loss in the first round of the Womens Lightweight Title Grand Prix, before being submitted by Marloes Coenen in the second round of the tournament, she later bounced back with a split decision victory over Sy Jewett! Lalani Malley-Mancao has done well for herself since going pro, earning a step up in competition with a submission victory over Tandi Schaeffer, and a decision over Colleen Schneider!

Bantamweight: Erik Perez (14-5, 2-1 WEC) vs. Josh Hill (9-2, 1-2 WEC)

Erik Perez took the victory in his WEC debut, taking a decision over John Fraser in the opening round of the Bantamweight Title Grand Prix, before bowing out via TKO to Antonio Banuelos in the quarter-finals, he later bounced back with a decision victory over Manny Tapia! Josh Hill started out well, outpointing Nick Pace in the opening round of the Bantamweight Title Grand Prix, before dropping a decision to Ian Loveland in the quarter-final, when he returned to the cage he was TKO'd by Cole Escovedo!

PRELIMINARY CARD

Womens Flyweight: Felice Herrig (7-6, 2-2 WEC) vs. Mitsuyo Miki (1-0, 1-0 WEC)

Felice Herrig asked for this fight, and should get everything she can handle in a striking war with up and coming prospect Mitsuyo Miki! Felice Herrig has shown the same inconsitencies that have plagued her throughout her career since coming to the WEC, starting out strong by taking a decision from Rosi Sexton in the first round of the Womens Flyweight Title Grand Prix, before being submitted in the first round by Tara Larosa in the quarter-finals! She bounced back, taking a decision from Kyra Gracie, before losing a decision to Ashley Cummins! Mitsuyo Miki made her MMA debut with the WEC, following a very successful career in national level Taekwondo in Japan, scoring a second round TKO victory over fellow debutant Bernice Crane!

Featherweight: Adam Schindler (10-4, 0-1 WEC) vs. Brandon Bender (9-1, 1-0 WEC)

A former West Virginia state wrestling champion, Adam Schindler made his WEC debut against Anthony Gutierrez, dropping a decision! Brandon Bender holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and complements it with his experience in wrestling and taekwondo! He took the victory in his WEC debut, submitting Ivo dos Santos!

Bantamweight: Jose Adriano (7-3, 1-1 WEC) vs. Nick Pace (6-5, 0-2 WEC)

With a solid base in both Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Jose Adriano can take the fight wherever it has to go to achieve the victory, he submitted Jason Sampson in his WEC debut, before taking a split decision loss to Travis Reddinger! Nick Pace is mainly a striker, but has been working on his wrestling and submissions lately, he's on his last legs in the WEC though, and after a decision loss to Josh Hill, and being submitted by Anthony Birchak, a loss could see him leaving the company!

Womens Lightweight: Revelina Berto (4-1, 1-1 WEC) vs. Munah Holland (7-4, 0-2 WEC)

Rising prospect Revelina Berto performed surprisingly well in her WEC debut against Cyborg Santos, there's no arguing that she won the first round, before giving way to Cyborg's power in the second in a TKO loss, she bounced back from that however, taking a first round TKO over Jennifer Maia! Munah Holland has been less than impressive, suffering a brutal TKO defeat at the hands of Kameko Ito in Ito's debut fight, and then being knocked out by Jennifer Maia!

Flyweight: Yuki Shojo (12-10-2, 0-3 WEC) vs. Frank Baca (14-3, 1-2 WEC)

This is definately Japanese shootfighter Yuki Shojo's final shot at picking up a victory in the WEC cage, as losses by TKO to Hector Sandoval in the first round of the Flyweight Title Grand Prix, by submission to Shinichi Kojima, and by decision to Dustin Ortiz have him knocking on the door to the unemployment line! Frank Baca didn't have the best start to his WEC career being TKO'd in just 41 seconds by Allamurad Karayev in the first round of the Flyweight Title Grand Prix, and then being knocked out by Joseph Sandoval, but he hopes he turned the corner in his last fight, where he took a decision from Sean Santella!

Lightweight: Federico Vila (0-1, 0-1 WEC) vs. Matias Ismail (0-0, 0-0 WEC)

Muay Thai fighter Federico Vila suffered a disappointing first round TKO loss to Kurt Southern in his MMA debut, and will be looking to bounce back against the debuting Matias Ismail! Ismail is a highly-ranked Taekwondo fighter, whose main strengths lie in his toughness, conditioning, and devastating strikes, and kicks! He has no ground game to speak of however, so he'll look to keep the fight standing, as despite Vila's striking background, Vila is the much better grappler of the two!
