  • 2 weeks later...

I didn't want to continue the talk about this mod in RingRider's thread, so I'm replying to your post here.

Yes. I took a lot of time off from TEW and then played it again and decided I wanted to improve 91. Really what prompted it was me doing a ton of pictures while I wasn't playing at all and when I added them and started messing with the game I was like "man, I love 91. Let's work on it some more!"

My goal is still to use 91 to get a 93 database released, but before I move to another year I want the promotions flushed out. The database is still lacking in small promotions and there are just too many people unemployed consistently.

Back to this thread though, good mod idea. I almost started this year at that point as well, but Stan Hansen was already gone from WCW!!!!!

Oh, and to the poster who said Larry Legend was useless...never ask me for a favor. Ever.

Other than small promotions, is there anything else you're planning to add?

But, if I can be serious for a moment (although I am dead serious about being saddened at how unappreciated Larry Zbyszko is today) yes, I am going to make other changes so if you have any suggestions or comments, add them.

I'm going through this thread to read all posts for any input again and have already added some tag team chemistry notes for people I don't want listed as a team. I plan to overhaul some profiles, add some workers, work on overness and stats a little (unless someone has serious input on issues there). I really want to work hard on Japan, but not sure if I will or not since it is so infrequently played. Not sure how important it is to spend time on it beyond what's already done.

Have you thought about looking at lifestyle habits and personality traits? For instance, Maybe tone down, or get rid of Bobby Heenan's drinking habit as that didn't seem to kick in until he got to WCW(lord knows WCW behind the scenes would drive anyone to start drinking!). You could always add in a narrative to kick in later on that would start Heenan's drinking habit. Possibly do the same for Shawn Michaels as his dark days didn't really kick in until around 94 or so. I have several HBK narratives in my Main Event mod if you'd like to import them. They cover him starting his bad lifestyle choices and bad personality changes, all the way to him finding religion and cleaning up his habits.

Roddy Piper is a tricky one as far as lifestyle goes. I'd say leave them in, but have it low enough to where there won't be any penalties for his matches(I'd say his match against Bret Hart is one of, if not his best match ever), and the penalties that he would get in angle segments would be negligible. Depending on his overness, he could still put on an A to A* rated angle segment if his lifestyle choices are low enough.

I mentioned Shawn Michaels earlier. I didn't know about this until recently, but apparently he was already friends with Scott Hall dating back to their days of working together in the AWA. Apparently Shawn, Scott, Curt Hennig and the Nasty Boys were traveling buddies in their AWA days. Just food for thought. I've also had Brian Knobbs want to go unscripted in his promos, so maybe take down his Driven and Bold personality traits a smidge as apparently that, along with Egotistical, factors into whether or not someone demands that they be unscripted. Jake Roberts, on the other hand, I could see demanding to go unscripted. Hope this all made sense. :D

PS: You're the one who writes the Illegal Foreign Object blog?!

EDIT: I just remembered, Sam Houston is on the WWF roster in this mod. Was he still working with the company by this point? Because I remember him working some matches at the Sportatorium by this time.

No, I'm not the writer.

On those personality traits, I took a lot of time cleaning up habits previously. HBK for example was 5% or less on anything he was marked for. That should mean it's not affecting his performance, it's just potentially an issue if it goes unchecked.

On Sam Houston, he worked some dates for the WWF still I have the match results. Only live shows I think though, nothing on tv. I left him on the roster because he's a popular jobber for a lot of people, but I don't think it matters. I changed him to PPA because he should be available for sure to book dates with other companies.

That's why I only said possibly on Shawn, and throwing ideas out there as an option. To be honest, the grades I've received in segments is actually close to what I'd expect from segments featuring the Rockers and Hart Foundation given where their pop is at. I think the only thing really dragging them down is Shawn, Marty and Jim Neidhart all having lifestyle habits being in the same segment, and even then, it's not really that bad.</p><p> </p><p> And I never knew that about Sam Houston. I figured maybe he was working house shows or dark matches on a consistent basis. Learn something new everyday. Putting him on PPA would be a good idea so he can work with the other companies, and if the user wants to fire him, they can without having to spend any money. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>What bothers me the most - and it may not be the mod, it may just be the game - is injuries. I know I said this before so I think it's the game but it would be cool if you increased the possibility of injury. Not that I love injuries but I love realism and injuries should be a part of the game.</p><p> </p><p>

That's just my 2cents. Other than that this is the only mod I play and I love it. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>I actually addressed this issue once before. It's just the way the game works. The resiliency settings for workers in this mod are actually lower than those of workers in the CVerse. I think I checked safety as well. </p><p> </p><p>

I'm not opposed to looking it over some more though. I'll pay more attention to the safety rating for workers to see if maybe that is what is contributing to the low injuries. Do any CVerse players think the CVerse has more injuries?</p>

Animal has 50 Brute, I'd bump that up to 85-90 since that's pretty much all the Road Warrior gimmick was.

Yeah, in fact, if IIRC from reading Derek B's mod making Bible, I believe even he said it's OK to exaggerate gimmick performance stats(not to be confused with face/heel performance stats) as gimmick performance stats don't improve, but face/heel performance stats do.

My gimmick file is pretty heavily modified. Is there something about it that you think needs fixing?

It's not just yours I replace, it's pretty much every mod's. My gimmick file is pretty much the "easy mode" for gimmicks because I hate dealing with them. The lowest a gimmick ever scores for me is low 70s. I know it's not the "proper" way to play, but meh, it's my game :p
