Hollywood Hogan and Roddy Piper stand in front of everyone, and they’re doing what they can to rally the troops. Hogan says that last night was a Kings night, and they need to do the same here tonight in order to show their dominance. Piper makes his way around the room, individually pointing out the “wonderful” work of Paul Orndorff, the fear that Meng brings to the table, the brutality of the Road Warriors, the legend of Randy Savage. Hollywood adds the future to the list, in California Kip, and says that we all need to watch our backs tonight. He praises that Jimmy, Dusty, and his Queen will be out there for all of their client’s matches, and says that if everyone sticks to their plans, then tonight will be a night WCW wants to forget! Piper says that tonight, it is time for the Kings of Wrestling to make themselves heard, and time for the Trinity to rise! Everyone screams and applauds, and it’s time for SuperBrawl!

Rating: B

Notes: Piper worked well in his improvising.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/TonySchiavone.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/JesseVentura.jpg

We head to the announcer’s booth where Tony Schiavone and Jesse Ventura welcome us all to the show, saying how this fifth annual SuperBrawl will be one for the ages! They briefly give a run-down for all the big matches of the show, especially the biggest one, the steel cage match. Tony says that he hopes to see Ric Flair get the title so they can finally wipe that disgusting spraypaint off of it, and while “The Body” fully agrees with him, he thinks that Hollywood will have some trick up his sleeve later tonight. Tony says that will remain to be seen, but right now we head to the ring for our first feature bout of SuperBrawl five, so let’s get to the ring and Gary Michael Cappetta! The crowd instantly come alive when they hear the opening chords of “Symphony of Destruction” bringing Cactus Jack down to the ring!

Rating: C

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Vader.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/SonnyOnoo.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/CactusJack.jpg
“The Monster” Vader w/Sonny Onoo vs. Cactus Jack

Referee: Nick Patrick

These two men are no strangers to one another, a point that “The Body” brings up while they’re still on their way to the ring. Tony says that is completely correct, as even without it being brought up much before in the buildup to this match, Jack has a half an ear that will always be a reminder of times he has tangled with Vader. Jesse says that it’s proof that Cactus may not be all that smart sometimes, because even with that only happening last year about this time, he’s here in the ring against “The Monster” now. On his way to the ring, Cactus is moved by a sign in the front row saying “Go out there and win one for The Funker!” The two men waste no time in getting to the brawling and heavy fists, locking up for almost no time at all before it breaks down into a vicious fight. The melee ensues even despite Nick Patrick threatening both men with disqualification, as they battle their way into the turnbuckles. Cactus fires a few punches off at Vader, but the big man turns things around and blasts Jack with a few left handed jabs before drilling him with a right cross! Jack falls to the outside, and Vader follows him out.

The match continues violently, albeit with one man or the other having to break the ten count constantly. Vader fires Cactus into the ring barricade, before charging with a forearm smash that rocks Jack’s jaw! Vader backs up and charges again, but Cactus slips out of the way! Jesse wonders if Cactus voluntarily moved or just fell over. Jack gets up and comes flying at Vader for a clothesline, but Cactus gets back body dropped into the front row! Sonny Onoo climbs on the ring apron to distract Nick Patrick and break the count again, as Vader slips into the ring. Cactus starts getting back to his feet and climbs back over the guardrail and onto the ring apron – but Vader rushes him and sends him flying backward to the concrete floor! Jack lands outside the protective mats on the hard floor with a sickening thud, and Tony even calls for Cactus to just stay down and take the countout loss! Nick turns his attention to his count, and Vader poses as Patrick begins. The crowd start cheering, trying to will Jack back to life, to get up and keep fighting – and he starts to move! At the count of six, Cactus is on his hands and knees! By eight, he’s reached ringside! JUST before the ten count, Jack rolls back into the ring! Vader is stunned, and he picks Cactus up before shoving him into the ropes. Vader hits a big body block, rocking Jack’s brain against the inside of his skull. Cactus drops, and Vader tries to pin him – but kickout! Jesse is amazed at the guts in Cactus Jack that he kicked out after all this punishment! Vader starts punching away at the prone Jack, which causes Patrick to step in. The two argue, as Cactus tries to pull himself to his feet again! But this time, Hakushi sprints to the ring, and he leaps up to hit a big kick to the head of Jack! Cactus falls to his back, and this time Vader wastes no motion, quickly dragging Jack to the corner to hit a big Vader Bomb! This time, Jack doesn’t stir, and Vader picks up the victory.

Winner in 12:03: Vader

Rating: B+

Notes: For curiosity's sake, this was the official second highest rated match.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/StevenRegal.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/GeneOkerlund.jpg

“Mean” Gene is on the scene, hyping the new issue of WCW Magazine… so buy it for your teen!

Joking aside, he does shill that briefly, as well as the WCW Hotline, but his biggest reason for being here is that he’s interviewing Lord Steven Regal, with Baron Tomas at his side. Okerlund chastises Regal for his conduct on Saturday Night and Main Event earlier in regards to having his boys attack both JPL and Ichii Yazaki, but Regal laughs him off. He says that both men are common peasants, as minor as the common cold to him, and so he had some of his companions try to force them into a sporting chance. Gene says that he doesn’t believe him, but the world wants to know, who are these guys? Lord Regal calls them to his side, and introduces them one at a time.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/DougWilliams.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Finlay.jpg

He turns to the first, a young European man with his nose in the air much like his Lordship, saying he is a dear friend, the Earl William Clayton. Tomas applauds, as Regal dubs them his “Ruthless Roundtable” adding that no man will be able to stand up to the three of them… and God save them if they try.

Rating: D+

Notes: Regal was masterful in his improvising, definitely something I’ll need to let him do more often. Simmons sent The Butcher out of WCW, which only heightened the feud. Rick Martel, meanwhile, is out to prove that he really is an altogether good person, and he has only had a few run-ins with the KoW, but so far each time has proven to go badly for Martel as the numbers always work against him. Now, the two are watching one another’s backs here, but it’s still nowhere near a fair fight with Dusty and Hart on the outside of the ring. Piper starts this match against Martel, and the two put on a short mat wrestling clinic in the ring before tagging out to the big bruisers. The former All-American and the Guardian Angel take all the mat wrestling just seen and throw it out the window, locking up like two big bulls and throwing punches at one another that go off one another’s frame like bombs. The power matchup ends up rolling out of the ring, leading to the other two to hop into the ring and go at one another again as well. Randy Anderson has lost all control of this match, as everyone is fighting everywhere! Some amount of order gets restored as Martel and Piper go out of the ring and up the aisle to fight, as Simmons and Rogers re-enter the ring. Bubba uses a poke to the eye to distract his foe, as he gets up on the second rope. Bubba seems poised to come off with a big clothesline – but Simmons catches him, and twists into a huge powerslam! Tony says that shook the ring, as Jesse claims he felt it shake clear out at their booth! Simmons stays on top, and he gets the win for his team!

Winners in 10:29: Ron Simmons and Rick Martel

Rating: B-

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWTV.jpg
http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/BrianPillman2.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Kip.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/JimmyHart2.jpg

WCW World Television Championship Match

“Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman vs. California Kip w/Jimmy Hart

Special Guest Referee: Nick Bockwinkel

Tony and Jesse talk about how Commissioner Bockwinkel have vowed to call this one fairly down the middle, but Ventura is less than thrilled. He says that something smells fishy to him, and it ain’t coming in from the coast. It takes Brian no time at all to start being in control of the match, and to Jesse’s surprise, our special referee takes no action against him which isn’t called for. Pillman starts working Kip’s head and neck, but at the first sign of a closed fist, that’s when Nick steps in. He pulls Brian’s arm, and in the fracas Kip slips an eye poke in while Bockwinkel isn’t watching! A sign in the crowd implies that “California (Kip) Knows How To Party!” as Kip hooks in the rear chinlock. The challenger starts doing what he can to wear Brian down, keeping the match grounded. There doesn’t seem to be any unfair play, but “The Body” is on watch for it for the entire match.

The first time Jesse calls foul is when the champion nearly collides with the commissioner. Nick gets right in his face, saying that if Brian lays a finger on him, he’ll disqualify him and hand the title over right now! Kip takes over again, but it doesn’t last long before Brian fights back with knife edge chops! Pillman starts using the ring and his speed to his advantage, coming off the ropes with clotheslines from every angle and keeping challenger, referee, and manager all on edge as he unleashes his aerial assault! Brian caps it off by leaping up and smashing Kip with the Loaded Gun DDT!

But in the blink of an eye – FLYING ELBOW!!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RandySavage.jpg

“Macho Man” Randy Savage crept onto the top rope and, just as Brian hit the DDT, Savage flew off the top and dropped his big elbow! Jesse asks where Bockwinkel is, and the camera sees him talking to Jimmy Hart! He turns around, and Savage stands in the center of the ring next to both Pillman and Kip’s fallen bodies. Randy reaches down and nudges Kip – and Nick calls for the bell! He leaps out of the ring and grabs the TV title… and he hands it to Kip! These former friends and partners begin slamming one another with whatever isn’t nailed down, as chairs, wires, ring steps, and even a cameraman’s camera all become a weapon! Nick Patrick is chasing them down with the microphone as cameras follow the two backstage. There, the battle continues with the two fighting into the ticket booth! This leads to a moment where Gordy takes Hayes and slides him down the counter like an old barroom brawl! Hayes won’t give up yet, and Terry takes the initiative to drag him back toward the ring.

When in the ring, Gordy and Hayes are both tired from beating the living hell out of one another. Gordy takes the advantage though by flipping Hayes into the top and middle rope in a hangman! As Michael is dangling, trapped, Terry goes over and locks on the Asiatic Spike! Hayes looks ready to pass out, but Gordy just keeps applying pressure! “P.S.” even says that he gives up, but Gordy is relentless – he will not release the hold, because he yells at Nick Patrick that he didn’t say he quit! Patrick is forced to hold the microphone down again, and as his eyes are rolling into the back of his head, Hayes finally murmurs “I quit…” Gordy instantly releases the hold and even opens the ropes, as Hayes drops to the ground in a heap. Trainers start running down to the ring in an instant to check on him, as Terry celebrates his victory in the center of the ring!

Winner at 11:51: Terry Gordy

Rating: C+

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/BrianPillman2.jpg

We head backstage for a brief moment, Tony and Jesse wondering what’s going on. Animal and Scott and Hawk and Rick go face to face in the center of the ring, and right before the bell sounds Hawk attacks Scott! Rick and Animal get into the brawl, but the cheap shot did what it needed to, taking the Steiners out of their game in a flash. Animal and Scott start the match, and the sneak attack puts the Warriors right in the lead. Animal and Hawk tag in and out, punishing Scott relentlessly with a variety of power moves. Surprisingly, Scott fights back up, turning an Animal bear hug into a belly-to-belly suplex! Scott makes it over to tag out to Rick, who rushes Animal with a big Steinerline! Hawk comes in, and both Steiners hit a double Steinerline on him, and both of the champions have to regroup on the floor as Rick and Scott do their classic pose over one another, as “The Dog-Faced Gremlin” barks at their foes! But as if that surprising comeback wasn’t enough going on, to the top of the aisle stroll Harlem Heat!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/StevieRay.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/BookerT.jpg

Booker and Stevie stand at the top of the ramp in their street clothes, crossing their arms and watching the match avidly. Jesse says that they must be out here to scout, as the Heat have to be top contenders still. Back in the ring, Hawk and Rick go at one another with a vicious lockup, which Rick wins with a double leg takedown, before he runs the ropes – but he gets caught up when Dusty Rhodes grabs his leg, and Hawk makes him pay with a big running clothesline of his own! The Road Warriors put a big hurting on Rick now, going for a pin after hitting him with a vicious back suplex and neckbreaker combination move! Scott has to rush in and break up the pin, but as Randy Anderson is telling him to leave the ring, the Warriors each grab a leg and deliver a double field goal kick right to Rick’s crotch! Rhodes cheers them on from the outside as a loud “OHHHHH” is heard through the arena! Tony says that he even saw Harlem Heat cringe at that! Animal stays in the ring, and he hooks on a rear chinlock. But Rick fights up, and drops down with a jawbreaker! Rick and Animal both make their way over to their partners, and they make the tags! Scott and Hawk are in and start trading huge blows. When Hawk sends Scott into the ropes, he ducks a clothesline, but Scott keeps his momentum up and leaps toward the side, hitting Animal with a big Frankensteiner! Scotty turns around – right into Hawk tripping him, stacking him up – and putting his feet up on the ropes! Dusty even holds his legs on the ropes for good measure, and the Warriors steal the victory! Harlem Heat shake their heads at the top of the aisle, as the Warriors get out of there with their titles. Rick and Scott are left looking dejected in the ring.

Winners and STILL WCW World Tag Team Champions at 12:18: The Road Warriors

Rating: B

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/PaulOrndorff.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Meng.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/DustyRhodes2.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/ArnAnderson.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/DustinRhodes.jpg
Non-Title Match

The Wonderful Destruction Crew w/Dusty Rhodes vs. “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson & “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes

Referee: Mark Curtis

Dustin starts the match with “Mr. Wonderful” but it doesn’t stay very mat based for long. The emotion seems to be pouring out of Dustin as he tries to prove himself here, fighting like a man possessed and taking Orndorff down with a flurry of punches and clotheslines, finally hitting a big body slam that sends Paul scurrying to his corner! Orndorff tags out to Meng, and Dustin stays in the ring to look for revenge after the loss last night. Dusty cheers on Meng from the outside, as Tony speculates how much it must hurt “The Natural” to hear his father cheering on someone across the ring from him. Jesse replies that personally he’s gotten tired of the Rhodes family “daddy issues” and wishes Dustin would just move on with his life already. Dustin takes the fight to Meng just like he did with Paul, but Meng is no pushover, as he weathers the blows and fires back with a big chop that puts Dustin on a knee! Meng uses his power and striking advantage to begin hurting “The Natural” a great deal, but when Dustin makes a blind tag out, Meng runs right into a big bodyslam from Arn Anderson! Arn doesn’t waste any time trying to harm Meng’s head, knowing that it would be a useless endeavor; instead going back to his Anderson training by working over the arm and shoulder, taking away some of the Tongan’s striking. Arn tags out to Dustin, who comes back in with a double axe handle. They tag in and out a few times, but eventually, Meng is able to send Dustin into the ropes and right into a knee to the back from Orndorff – which draws the old “Paula” chants from the Roanoke crowd! “Mr. Wonderful” takes out his frustration on young Dustin, coming into the ring with a vengeance. Arn is beside himself as his partner gets picked apart just out of the reach of making the tag.

After a few minutes of taking some major punishment, as well as being the victim of Paul’s Boogie Woogie Elbow Drop, Dustin starts to mount a comeback. When Orndorff gets Randy Anderson’s attention so Dustin can’t tag out, all four men then enter the ring and it’s a huge donnybrook! Arn takes Orndorff out of the equation with a running clothesline that puts both of them on the outside of the ring, as Dusty climbs up onto the apron. He starts yelling to Dustin, trying to get his attention…

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RickyMorton.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RobertGibson.jpg

…but he gets pulled back to the floor by the Rock ‘n Roll Express! Morton and Gibson are still sore about losing the US Tag Team titles, and they’re out here to make sure “The American Outlaw” doesn’t skew this match one way or the other! Meng is up, and he looks for the Tongan Deathgrip, but Dustin grabs his arm, twisting around it, and takes Meng down with a big running bulldog! Mark Curtis turns around and makes the count – 1, 2, 3! Dustin gets a measure of revenge against Meng, Paul Orndorff, and his father Dusty, and part of that has to be chalked up to the Rock ‘n Roll Express!

Winners in 11:56: Dustin Rhodes & Arn Anderson

Rating: B-

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/EricBischoff.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/BobbyHeenan2.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/GeneOkerlund.jpg

Up at the secondary announcer’s stand (if you know early 90’s WCW setup, then you know what I mean) stands Eric Bischoff, “Mean” Gene Okerlund, and Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. Eric says that there is still a lot of action to come, as up next we have Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat, the US title match, the debut of Waylon Mercy, and then the big one folks, the cage match for the World’s title. Okerlund echoes Tony’s statement from earlier, how he hopes Flair takes the belt back for WCW, and Heenan is optimistic saying that he’s been backstage with Flair all night, saying he’s never seen Ric more focused in all the years he’s known him. Jesse talks about how well these two know another, and how they’ve probably both watched their previous matches over again a hundred times in preparation for this one. Savage comes back with some underhanded tactics, dropping Ricky’s throat over the top rope. The whole match then becomes about Randy attacking the neck and throat of Steamboat, as Tony says that he is obviously going to target that as it will set up for the same flying elbow that we saw earlier tonight. “The Dragon” never says die though, and no matter what “Macho Man” does to him, he always comes back with a knife edge chop or a karate style kick that brings him right back into the match. Savage really comes alive, however, when he grabs Steamboat out of a telegraphed back body drop and leaps over the top rope with him, driving Ricky’s chest and throat over the tight cable!

Savage is like a shark who smells blood as he stomps and kicks at Ricky, keeping him grounded. Savage drops to his knees and even begins choking the life out of him, at which point Mark Curtis levies a four count before Savage breaks it up. Steamboat is unable to get much traction in this match, at least until he rolls Randy up in a crucifix pin! Savage kicks out, but Steamboat now starts to mount a comeback, twisting Macho’s arm and taking to the top rope. Steamboat walks across the rope before diving off with a big chop to the shoulder, and he takes him down with another quick arm drag! Steamboat hits a trifecta of them, going for a pin after each but never getting the three. Savage regains himself with an eye poke, before lifting Steamboat and dropping him face-first across the top turnbuckle pad! Jesse says that was almost a version of the Stungun, and Savage stays on the attack, going up and hitting the big double axe handle to drop “The Dragon”! He pulls Steamboat to the center of the ring, and twirls his finger while pointing to the top rope to signal what’s next! Savage starts climbing the ropes, but a commotion in the crowd takes up his attention.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/BrianPillman2.jpg

It’s security, and they’re following Brian Pillman through the crowd as he leads them on a chase! Two fans in the crowd shows him signs that say “Oh Have Mercy” and “Lives are gonna be on Tracy Smothers hands”, and Waylon not only shakes their hands, but also autographs the signs for them! Jesse marvels at how big Mercy is, saying that this is a man who looks like he can get things done. Tony wonders the meaning of all his tattoos, and where he got them from. This one starts out as a nice little match, as Mercy and Smothers wrestle about very cleanly… but that quickly changes when Brady Boone looks away for a moment and Mercy delivers a sharp forearm to the nose of Tracy! From there, Waylon takes Smothers down and demolishes him, finally locking him in a sleeperhold, his eyes looking almost demonic as he applies the pressure. Schiavone wonders if that isn’t partially a choke hold, as Jesse says that Tony is being “too quick to accuse his fellow man” as Boone calls for the bell.

Winner in 4:34: Waylon Mercy

Rating: D+

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RobertFuller.jpg

Waylon Mercy makes his way up the aisle… but he’s stopped at the entrance by Colonel Robert Parker. Robert Parker vs. Sting

Referee: Nick Patrick

On his way to the ring, Austin sees a fan’s sign that says “GIMME A HELL YEAH” and so he tells him hell yeah! Tony and Jesse talk about the ramifications of this match if Austin were to lose, as Sting holding the US title would make him an automatic number one contender for the World championship; and along with his big win back at Starrcade over Hollywood Hogan, would he be able to be denied his shot then? Jesse says that Sting lost the match at WrestleWar, meaning there is no chance of Sting getting a title shot until after this upcoming WrestleWar, and that should be final; he says that Sting’s attempts to get a shot is just going against WCW officials. “He should just learn to live with it and fight another day” says “The Body”. This match starts slowly, as both men feel one another out for a few minutes. Colonel Parker laughs at a fan who’s sign says “Austin > Stud Stable” as Austin clamps a side headlock on “The Stinger”. Sting shoves him into the ropes, and a big clothesline takes the champion down! Sting starts turning up the heat on this match (no, I don’t mean Booker or Stevie) by using his fast paced strikes to beat Austin down and get the crowd behind him, but when he fires Austin into the ropes, Steve pulls back and ducks outside to regroup.

When Austin re-enters the ring, he switches game plans, taking Sting apart by working over his head and neck with elbows and forearms that – pardon the pun – stun “The Stinger” to the mat. Sting never falls completely, kicking out of each pinfall attempt and escaping every time Austin tries to lock on any kind of chinlock or neck vice attempts. At one point Austin has Sting leaning in the turnbuckles and shows his mean streak by kicking him relentlessly in the stomach, until Sting is down on the ground – and then Austin flips him a double bird right to the painted face! Austin is still unable to put his opponent away, so he locks in a sleeperhold. But when Sting sends Austin to the ropes and tries a high crossbody, Austin ducking under him swings all momentum toward the champion, as a sign out there says “Austin 3:16 says I just screwed Sting!” Stunning Steve points at his head as he goes for a cover, but yet another two count follows. Austin goes to the turnbuckles, diving off with a pointed elbow drop, but another two count – he can’t keep the challenger down no matter what he does! The power of the Little Stingers starts to will their hero back to life, and alternating punches and kicks puts Austin back into the corner! Sting starts to return the favor from earlier, kicking Austin in the stomach further and further back into the corner, before Sting steps away and howls to his fans! He turns quickly and charges – but Austin pulls Nick Patrick into the way, and he takes the full force of a Stinger Splash!

Austin drops as well though, and Sting quickly pulls him to the center of the ring and locks on the Scorpion Deathlock! The champion screams in pain, never saying that he submits, but it wouldn’t matter if he did because there’s no referee! Sting gets up and goes over to Nick Patrick to try and revive him, but to no avail; Patrick is out. Sting instead walks back to Austin, but takes a kick to the stomach for his troubles before Steve drills him with a Stunner! Austin rolls on top, but again, no referee! Just about then, Colonel Parker starts motioning from the back. Tony questions if he’s calling for another ref? But no, it isn’t…

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WaylonMercy.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/TerryGordy.jpg

Waylon Mercy jogs out of the back, along with Terry Gordy?! Parker, Mercy, and Gordy climb into the ring, as Austin stands up from Sting. Colonel Parker looks glad, and he says loudly “Alright, boys – now get him!” Gordy and Mercy attack – but they start to destroy Austin! The Colonel laughs, as Mercy sends Austin running into a big lariat from Gordy! The three men stand and gloat, but as their backs are turned, Austin starts using the ropes to pull himself up! When they turn back to face him, Austin holds out his arms and flips all three men off! Gordy and Waylon charge him again, this time making sure to beat him down into the mat, delivering a double DDT, right onto the United States championship! Sting now starts making his way to his own feet, getting his bearings back as he looks upon what’s happening in the ring. Sting may not know what’s happening, but he isn’t about to let himself be the Stable’s next victim as he challenges both of them to bring it on! And that’s when another person decides to make himself known…… and the crowd go crazy for the man when he slides into the ring!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/LexLuger.jpg

IT’S – LEX – LUGER!!!!

“The Total Package” is back in World Championship Wrestling!!! Tony and Jesse are in shock, they thought he was up north – but here he is in Roanoke at SuperBrawl! Luger stands next to Sting, staring down the two large foes, as Parker arms Mercy with a steel chair. It’s a standoff in mid-ring, and Nick Patrick is still down on the mat! Gordy and Mercy begin to back down when Austin starts to stir, as it appears three against two aren’t odds that they’re fond of tonight. Luger turns and holds his hand out to his old friend, The Stinger, who shakes it, telling Lex welcome back! But Luger pulls Sting into a steel assisted forearm bash to the face!! Sting crumples to the mat, and Luger picks him back up and hoists him into the Human Torture Rack, as everyone in the Roanoke Victory Stadium are stunned silent! Austin gets up to his knees, but not for long as Terry takes Mercy’s chair and levels him with it across the face! Luger throws Sting down, his body lying prone on the mat, and he hops out of the ring, leaving. Parker, Gordy, and Mercy all look after him, shrugging their shoulders, before leaving as well.

Nick Patrick comes to, finally, and seeing the bodies left lying in the ring alongside the US title and the dented steel chair, he calls for the bell. The crowd boo loudly, but it looks as though we will not see a winner – however, Stunning Steve retains the championship. As he gets up and is awarded the belt, he’s granted something that he’s never heard in all his time in World Championship Wrestling – cheers from the crowd. Austin leaves with the belt, as Sting gets up. He says that it’s been a long time coming, and he’s waiting for Hollywood to try and have a few more aces up his sleeve yet, but Flair is still “The Dirtiest Player in the Game” no matter who he’s against, and he foresees himself standing over Hogan holding the World’s championship by the end of the night!

Rating: B+

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/gmc.jpg

Gary Michael Cappetta stands in center ring and proceeds to begin introductions for the main event!

“Ladies and gentlemen, it is now time for the STEEL CAGE! A fan holds up a sign briefly that says something about an illegal substance, but it disappears fairly quickly. The two circle one another before locking up, as each man tests the wire mesh enclosing them with their hand. They lock up, but Hogan breaks quickly and goes to pose to the fans, who boo loudly the man in black and white. He taunts toward them, jawing with them as The Queen applauds her man from the outside. Hollywood turns around RIGHT INTO A KNIFE EDGE CHOP! Flair takes the fight to the champion and the crowd starts going wild for him! “The Nature Boy” doesn’t let up, chopping and clawing at Hollywood, as Hogan flees around the ring, but there is nowhere for him to go! Hogan instead runs to the corner and drops to his knees, begging off of Flair! Ric kicks him in the chest, before pulling Hogan to his feet and whipping him across the ring to the opposite turnbuckle, and a knife edge chop drops him! Flair is feeling it, as the crowd yells in appreciation of their hero! Flair answers them with a loud “WOOOO!” as he keeps on the attack. He slows things down now, as Jesse says “wrestling HIS match” as he starts fighting Hogan by the cage. The champion fights off Flair’s attempts to slam his head into the steel cage, as Flair does the same. The two struggle at one another, before Hollywood hits Flair with a cheap sucker punch to the forehead! Ric careens from the blow, and Hogan uses the brief lapse to smash Flair into the steel cage!

The dynamic of the match and the mood of the crowd shift immediately, as Hogan begins to take over. He hits the challenger with big punches, taunting him at every point. Hollywood bashes Flair with every stomp, telling him that he shouldn’t be in the ring with a star like himself, at one point even insulting the man’s family! The champion is in control going for pins any chance he can get, as now the Queen looks very confident on the outside. She claps and jumps up and down with every punch, as Tony and Jesse discuss what they feel the nature of the two’s relationship is; is the young Queen simply enamored by Hogan, is he just a meal ticket to her, or is it just a business relationship? Ventura leans toward how she may be pulling Hogan’s strings to make sure she has a meal ticket, while Tony thinks she could be a star-struck fan of Hogan’s. In the ring, Flair keeps trying to fight back, but every time the champion is able to shut things down and keep telling Flair how no good he is, saying once that had he been half the man Hogan is, WCW would’ve meant something before he showed up! Tony says, disgusted, how that was uncalled for, as Hogan slams Flair around the cage a few more times. He now taunts Flair again by “Woooo”ing to the crowd as he looks primed to lock on Flair’s own figure four leglock! FLAIR REVERSES WITH A ROLLUP! Tommy Young is right there, and he counts 1…. 2… KICKOUT! Hollywood just barely kicked out of that, and the crowd go crazy knowing that the challenger is alive! Ric begins climbing back to his feet, and catches a charging Hogan in the stomach with a punch before lifting him into a beautiful delayed vertical suplex! Flair goes for the pin now, but Hollywood kicks out at two! The challenger is now on fire again, and he drags Hogan up before, finally, running him into the cage! The turnabout really sends the crowd into a frenzy, as finally Hogan is getting what was coming to him from the start of the match! Flair rips Hollywood’s black bandanna off and grinds his now uncovered forehead into the mesh, before throwing him aside and trying to climb out of the cage! Hollywood gets up on the top rope and pulls Flair down, and the two men start brawling right on the top rope! They sway around throwing punches and chops, before Hogan kicks Flair’s leg out from under him and causes him to crotch himself on the strand!

Despite the major setback, Flair grabs Hogan’s leg and won’t allow him to leave the cage either, so he gets back into the ring and the fight is still on. Hollywood sends Flair into the ropes, firing off a huge back body drop that Tony exclaims “nearly sent Flair out of the cage on its own!” Hogan now lifts Flair up and hits a belly-to-back suplex on him, slamming Flair down onto his back. Hogan starts to crawl over toward the door, but Flair grabs his legs, keeping him from exiting. Hogan kicks Flair off and crawls on his stomach, but Flair grabs on again, getting to his feet. Hollywood rolls over and tries to kick Flair away again, but he holds on – and turns, locking Hogan into the figure four! Tommy asks Hogan if he’s going to give it up, as the champion screams in pain! The Queen on the outside squeals in agony, as Jesse says she may be watching that meal ticket getting punched right now! Hogan is in pain, but he rolls the hold over, and “The Nature Boy” breaks it quickly. But he just as quickly goes to work, kicking the knee that has just been damaged! Flair backs off to the corner and drops his kneepad, before hitting a pointed knee drop directly to Hollywood’s knee! The crowd cheer as Flair lets out a “woooo!” toward them, as Tony mentions how surreal it is that in another world, in another time, Flair would be getting booed out of the building for that sort of thing. Ric pulls the champion over to the ropes and sets his ankle up on the bottom, before jumping up and crashing down upon the knee! Ventura says that we’re back to Flair doing what he does best again, and also praises the intelligence of this kind of thing because if Hogan can’t walk, he can’t get out of the cage, nor can he stop Flair from doing so! Tony agrees, “good point there Jess,” saying that perhaps the World’s championship is finally within WCW’s grasp again! Flair starts chopping Hogan in the corner again, but this time it starts to have no effect, as Hollywood starts to go back in time and “Hulk Up” on Flair! The adrenaline surge that Hogan used to fuel himself starts to pump through his veins, and it seems as though the boos of the fans are spurring him on! Tony again calls it surreal, as Hogan sends Flair into the ropes and hits the big boot! But it hurts the leg! Hogan falls to the mat holding his knee, Flair’s punishment having been too much for it!

Hollywood staggers back up to his feet, as does Flair. Hogan puts on a side headlock – but Flair lifts him into a kneebreaker! Flair holds on, and puts on the figure four again! The Queen on the outside starts to set up a ladder – she wants to climb into the cage by going over it on a ladder! Flair sees her plans in motion, and he releases the hold to go over and tell her to get down! Flair climbs the cage and meets her at the top – and he plants a big kiss on her!! The crowd cheer wildly as The Queen goes back down to the floor! “The Nature Boy” now has a choice; go on over the top, or get back into the ring! He sees Hogan stirring, getting back up to his feet slowly by using the ropes to pull himself up. Flair weighs his options, and he makes his choice – he goes airborne, and hits Hogan with a cross body block! At the top of the aisleway, we see some of the Kings of Wrestling starting to come out – but Dustin Rhodes and Arn Anderson get in their way, blocking the path while armed with steel chairs and tire irons! The fans are cheering Flair on, as he gets back to his feet and starts climbing the cage! Tony screams yes! Yes, this is what we’ve all been waiting for! The Kings of Wrestling are about to lose their grip on the World title! Ric starts pulling himself over the top!

AND HE GETS HIS LIGHTS TURNED OUT BY THE WORLD TITLE!

Tony cries in despair, as Jesse asks who it was who went up to the top of the ladder next to the cage and smacked Flair with the belt! Tony says that we didn’t really see who it was, but Hogan is crawling to the door! NO! NO! NOOOOOO!

Hollywood Hogan crawls out and reaches the floor, and the bell sounds…… and all goes quiet when we see who it was who helped Hogan retain his title!

Winner and STILL WCW World Heavyweight Champion in 21:37: Hollywood Hogan

Rating: A

The cage lifts off of the ring, and Hollywood gets back into the ring to pose with his retained championship… and embraces both his Queen and WCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/NickBockwinkel.jpg

Nick lifts Hogan’s arm in triumph, Queen holding the World title overhead between the two of them. Tony begs the question: Why, Nick?! Why?! Jesse rants that he KNEW the conspiracy was real, he knew it all the time!
I don't like to rush people, but I've really had my working fingers on this week (either that, or it was a really easy show to breeze through) because this is your 24 to 48 Hour Warning!! Depending on how many people get their predictions in by tomorrow night, and depending if I get the next show booked, but I should. Triangle Match to determine who faces Hollywood Hogan at Battlebowl!

The winners of the three matches will square off in a triangle match to see who gets the title match!

California Kip w/Jimmy Hart vs. Dustin Rhodes vs. JPL

Comments: Dustin continues to build up for a eventual clash with Dusty. At Battlebowl, i see Dusty costing Dustin the World Title. Maybe Dustin gains a bizarre touch down the line...

World Heavyweight Championship #1 Contender Qualifier

California Kip w/Jimmy Hart vs. Ron Simmons

Comments: Kip Kips his momentum from SuperBrawl. Hart will help in the end, for sure.

World Heavyweight Championship #1 Contender Qualifier

“The Natural” Dustin Rhodes vs. Lord Steven Regal w/Baron Tomas

Comments: JPL for the rescue!

World Heavyweight Championship #1 Contender Qualifier

JPL vs. “Guardian Angel” Bubba Rogers w/Dusty Rhodes

Comments: Because he's the future.

The Road Warriors & The Wonderful Destruction Crew w/Dusty Rhodes vs. The Steiner Brothers & The Rock ‘n Roll Express

Comments: The R'n'Rs are the weak links of the match, so one of them takes the fall. All of the teams in the match are awesome, though.

“Wildfire” Tommy Rich vs. Waylon Mercy w/Colonel Robert Parker

Comments: No Mercy.

Fun Fan Signs (two-sign limit): No Mercy!

Behold the King of Kings!

Comments on Previous Show: Dude, that was AWESOME! The conspiracy and everything, it really adds something for the KoW storyline. Luger is back O.O, AWESOME TOO! And AUSTIN TURNED? AWESOME THE THIRD! Now make Austin 3:16 in your way and we will all bow down to the real King, King Beejus! :p

I wasn't expecting an Austin face turn yet, but that was an interesting way to go about it. I'm wondering if Austin will now pair up with Pillman, and perhaps Sting as well.

Signs in the crowd heckle the men, reading “Bockwinkel sold out!” and “Flair was robbed!” Hollywood gloats about defeating Ric Flair at SuperBrawl, which he says will happen every time that he has “The Nature Girl” in the ring! The fans really boo that, as Hogan says that it may not have been a clean sweep at the pay-per-view (as he eyes Roddy Piper) but the biggest, most important matches all went to the KoW, brothers! Piper says that he may not have gotten a W at SuperBrawl, but nobody ever remembers the battles lost when you have won the war! He hands it over to Dusty Rhodes, who says that while his Wonderful Destruction Crew may not be undefeated anymore, he knows who to blame for it; not his son, but the Rock ‘n Roll Express, “two old men who need to stay outta everyone’s bidness!” Dusty says that they laid their hands on him, “and that’ll be they death warrant signed, sealed, and delivered, baybeh!”

From Rhodes the attention goes to the newest member of the group, Nick Bockwinkel. He has a huge grin on his face, as he says that nobody ever saw it coming. He talks about how when Hogan and Piper and Dusty are out here talking about Kings of Wrestling, there was one place nobody ever remembered. Nick says that he, Piper, and Dusty are the Trinity, the men who got Hollywood Hogan to WCW, and the men who pulled the biggest coups of the industry in forming this group; and now, it is truly the best of ALL worlds – Dusty Rhodes, the best of the WCW; Hogan and Piper, the best of “up there”; and Nick Bockwinkel, the best thing that ever came from the AWA – all four of them, the undisputed Kings of Wrestling! Bockwinkel also takes time to say that his paperwork was all filed nicely, and it is with great pleasure that he says “Mr. Pillman” was legally stripped of his Television title, given to a man everyone can look up to in California Kip; and Mr. Pillman is hereby suspended indefinitely from all World Championship Wrestling events! Nick also adds that he has signed four matches specially tonight at the request of Mr. Hogan, three singles matches to qualify for a triangle match in the main event which will determine the man he shall defend the World’s championship against at Battlebowl! And an addition to Battlebowl, the Lethal Lottery is returning; and while the winner will be awarded the newly minted Battlebowl Ring, the final THREE competitors in the battle royal will go on to face Hollywood Hogan – with a snicker, he adds “or the World champion, whoever it may be” – at Spring Stampede in April! He ends by saying that the men are all together now, and nothing and nobody on the face of planet Earth can stop them! The fans boo loudly as the four men stand in the ring raising their arms.

Rating: B+

Notes: Hogan enjoyed being able to go off-script, and Piper did well, but Bockwinkel struggled a little; likely pressure to sell the heel turn, as well as get all the logistics information told.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/TonySchiavone.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/BobbyHeenan2.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/JesseVentura.jpg

We head to Tony, Bobby, and Jesse in the announcer’s booth, and they are all aghast at what we’ve just heard. Behind the men is a sign that says “WCW is running on Seminole Power!” Nick Bockwinkel was one of the KoW’s “Trinity” all along, and he played everyone for months. Bobby says that he feels especially hurt, as Nick used to be one of his best friends in this business, but now that he’s aligned himself with Hogan, all that is thrown away. Ventura agrees with “The Brain” in saying that the three go way back in the AWA, and to see what Nick and the Kings of Wrestling are doing just sickens him. Tony says that as much as they’d like to dwell on this, they can’t, as there is a lot of action to get to tonight, and it starts now with one of Bockwinkel’s hand-chosen qualifying matches!

Rating: C+

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Kip.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/JimmyHart2.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RonSimmons.jpg
World Heavyweight Championship #1 Contender Qualifier

California Kip w/Jimmy Hart vs. Ron Simmons

Referee: Mark Curtis

Jimmy Hart bleats his megaphone at a fan with a sign that reads “Go Back to California, Kip!” Jesse wonders if they chose this match to go on first so that if Kip wins, he’ll have a long while to rest up before wrestling again. Bobby thinks they want to humiliate Simmons. Jimmy Hart talks strategy with Kip on the outside before the match, but in an instant gets a chance to do so again as Ron sends Kip flying through the ropes after a lockup! The new World Television champion gets flustered when Simmons messes up his hair during a side headlock, and he starts hammering away with rights and lefts. But big Ron weathers the storm, waiting for an opportunity and then driving Kip into the mat with a spinebuster slam! That’s including one fan who holds up a sign that implores him to “Go Away Lex!” Luger pays it all no mind as he poses, flexing his huge muscles which look almost as big as Gene’s head. Okerlund gets to business, first telling Lex that it’s great to see him back in WCW. Luger says that it feels great to be back, somewhere he can be respected and admired, somewhere he can be himself instead of a cartoon. Gene quickly moves into the hard questions though, as he asks what exactly Lex was doing; the forearm could be played off, but hoisting Sting into the Human Torture Rack was definitely a calculated maneuver! “The Total Package” says that he did it for two reasons. Firstly, he knew that to come back to WCW, he could have just bought a ticket and watched the show, or, he could make a huge impact and get the wrestling world talking – so that’s what he did, because it’s what you have to do to survive in WCW. Luger says that secondly, he’s been watching his old friend, and Lex says that he’s disgusted by what he’s seen! Lex says that the Sting he knew and befriended would never have let this Kings of Wrestling thing go on like it has, he would have went straight for Hogan and Piper and would have killed it before it even got off the ground! Instead, Sting went for months after Vader, and now he can’t even fight for the biggest prize in wrestling until the end of the year! Lex says that Sting has changed, and that forearm shot was meant to wake him up! Luger says he will keep trying to wake Sting up as long as he has to! Luger poses again, as Gene sends us to the ring for the next qualifying match.

Rating: B

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/JPL.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/GuardianAngel.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/DustyRhodes2.jpg
World Heavyweight Championship #1 Contender Qualifier

JPL vs. “Guardian Angel” Bubba Rogers w/Dusty Rhodes

Referee: Nick Patrick

A hard hitting match-up from start to finish, as both men are out to prove themselves as of late; Rogers for what are likely considered huge disappointments in the KoW’s ranks, and JPL proving himself as a rising star. “The Angel” does a lot of damage to his younger foe in the middle of this match, but a well-timed kneelift makes sure JPL is still in the game. Dustin talks about how he was always taught to respect those who came before you in this business; but someone like Nick Bockwinkel apparently isn’t someone to be trusted! Even as his new theme “Imperial March” fades, Lord Regal seems in high spirits, likely proud of what he and his companions did earlier to JPL. This ends up being the best match of the night, as both men lay it all on the line to try and get the victory as quickly as possible, to save energy for the triangle match later tonight. Regal works young Rhodes over with a lot of technical strikes and holds, as Dustin comes back with some good old Texas brawling. Dustin looks to have things wrapped up nicely, but “The American Outlaw” making an appearance throws his game off, as Dusty comes down to the ring. Dustin asks him what he’s doing here, and Dusty tells him he wanted to watch his son win! Dustin tries to go for the running bulldog, but his head isn’t in it anymore, and Regal turns it into a vicious belly-to-back suplex before locking in the Regal Stretch. He says that’s what he’s done, he put down Austin and DDP when they couldn’t cut it anymore, and he found himself two bigger, better studs who can get the work done! Gordy takes point, saying that when the Colonel came to him, he gladly jumped on board, because it meant the fast track to Steve Austin. Gordy goes in depth, claiming that Austin “went all hollywood” and lost his roots; roots that date back to a little place called the Dallas Sportatorium, which is a place that Terry put on the map! He calls Stunning Steve a sellout to the great state of Texas, and says Gordy will beat that respect back into him right in Texas at Battlebowl when he competes for the US title! No sneak attack this time, but Waylon definitely is a changed man once the bell sounds, as he immediately pummels the former NWA World champion with clubbing forearms and kicks, before drilling him with a surprisingly fast DDT. One fan of Rich’s holds up a sign that says “Baby You Can Light My Wildfire” but unfortunately Tommy doesn’t get to live up to the fandom. Waylon does, however, live up to another fan’s sign that says “No Mercy!” He locks him into a sleeperhold, laughing maniacally, as Tony again questions the validity of the hold. In the second ever WCW-produced Triangle Match, these three hungry stars went at it tooth and nail for the right to square off for the World Heavyweight Championship next Sunday! Lord Regal throws all kinds of fisticuffs to start the match, but he quickly finds that he can’t match up to the other two big bulls in this one, and so he devises a new plan – stay outside the ring and let the two of them beat one another into a pulp, which they’re happy to do! Rogers stays wary of going to the turnbuckles after what happened at SuperBrawl, and keeps his feet on the ground. Big Ron, however, utilizes a very fast-paced while still brutish assault on “The Guardian Angel” throughout the match. Regal re-enters the ring anytime he finds an opening, smashing either man with European uppercuts that take them off-guard. His Lordship continually tries to steal this one, but his plans backfire when both of the big men get tired of him and band together! The two heft Regal up onto their shoulders and throw him out of the ring onto the Baron! Regal out of the way, this comes down to one on one, and after ducking a clothesline, Simmons nails Rogers with a running shoulderblock that takes him off his feet! Ron gets down in three point stance and charges, hitting a big running clothesline that punctuates a one, two, three count!

Winner and NEW #1 Contender in 13:48: Ron Simmons

Rating: C+

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RonSimmons.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/HulkHogan2.jpg

The match over, Ron Simmons asks for Gary’s microphone. Ron says that he’s so excited to be back in the title hunt, it’s been a pretty up-and-down time since he last held the belt, but says if he can defeat Vader for the title back in 92, an old man like Hogan should prove to be a cakewalk! A sign in the crowd says “Behold the King of Kings!” as that brings Hollywood himself out, who says no words but simply stares Simmons down from the aisle, holding up his championship! The show goes to the credits as Hogan and Simmons are staring at one another intensely, as Tony hypes the match for BattleBowl!

Rating: B+

Notes: Simmons didn’t do well with his improvising, I’ll chalk it up to having wrestled twice.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWMainEvent-1.jpg
WCW Main Event

Commentary: Gordon Solie, Tony Schiavone, Eric Bischoff

Rating: C

Video: A look at Ron Simmons’ WCW career (C+)

Paul Roma d. “Wildfire” Tommy Rich (E+)

Video: Replay of Lex Luger and Sting’s words for one another (B)

Young Pistols and Scott Armstrong d.
