Marking the end of an eventful 1990, we will start of the new year by celebrating one of the previous years’ biggest rivalries as Hulk Hogan faces Earthquake in a Summerslam 1990 rematch.

Jake “The Snake” Roberts v “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Di Biase

In a rematch from last year’s Wrestlemania, Jake Roberts squares off against Ted DiBiase. Expect The Million Dollar Man’s bodyguard Virgil to be at ringside, will problems between DiBiase and his bodyguard play into the hands of the Snake?

The Nasty Boys v The Rockers

The Nasty Boys recent line of form is putting them in line for a Tag Team Title shot, but this could be a breakout year for The Rockers and a win here would put them into contention.

Despite the strength of the Nasty Boys, the Rockers used speed and stamina to their advantage nearly taking the win on several occasions. Shawn Michaels should have had the match sown up when he hit Knobbs with a Superkick but Jerry Saggs had the referee tied up in the corner. The Nasty Boys however took the spoils after Brian Knobbs got the pinfall on Marty Jannety after a Trip to Nastyville. Recent tensions between Ted Di Biase and Virgil continued when Virgil accidently tripped DiBiase up when Jake Roberts countered an Irish Whip. Roberts then attempted the DDT, but DiBiase scurried out of the ring. A furious DiBiase shoved Virgil down to the floor for his mistake before re-entering the ring. Though in the end it was DiBiase who stole the victory, when Rick Martel, Robert’s long time rival came down to ringside and threatened to steal Robert’s snake distracting the Snakeman long enough for DiBiase to roll him up for the victory. Winner: Ted DiBiase via flash pin with a roll up at 10:38 Grade:79 <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36307" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>After the match, Martel drops the snake bag and gets chased off by a furious Jake Roberts. Meanwhile Ted DiBiase grabs a microphone and orders Virgil to bring him his Million Dollar Dollar belt. Virgil hands over the belt before being knocked down to the floor with a slap by the Million Dollar Man. DiBiase shouts in Virgil’s face for nearly costing him the match telling him he is a screw up before slapping him again. Roddy Piper at the announce table is furious with DiBiase’s actions. Warrior gave a deafening NO and then walked off as Randy Savage stormed on stage angry with his rejection. We then cut to the announce team where “Rowdy” Roddy Piper reveals that next week will bring the return of Pipers Pit where both The Ultimate Warrior and Sgt Slaughter will appear on the show. Piper starts to lay into Slaughter and says that he hopes the Warrior teaches him a lesson when he is interrupted by Randy Savage. The Macho King storms in front of the announce team aggressively stating that the Ultimate Warrior is a coward for rejecting Savage’s challenge. Savage then says that if Warrior won’t give him a title shot, then he will do whatever it takes to win the Royal Rumble and earn his rightful title shot DIG IT! Hulk Hogan tried to stand toe to toe with Earthquake on strength but this was impossible as Earthquake had the better of Hogan for the first half of the match. The tides turned when Earthquake missed a splash in the corner and Hulkamania fired up. Hulk Hogan amazingly got Earthquake off his feet slamming him and went for the Leg Drop only for Jimmy Hart to grab his leg when Hogan bounced off the ropes. Hogan pulls Jimmy Hart onto the ring apron and drops him with a right hand before turning into Dino Bravo who causes a disqualification. Winner: Hulk Hogan via DQ due to interference by Dino Bravo in 8:54 Grade:79 After the match the team of Earthquake and Bravo look to deliver a beat down on Hogan only for Jim Duggan to run out and make the save. Duggan and Hogan clear house to end the show. Overall Grade: 81 Backstage note Marty Jannety has been identified as a soft drug user. Mooney announces that The Model will face Texas Tornado next week on Superstars with the winner facing Mr Perfect at the Royal Rumble for the Intercontinental Title. Mooney asks Martel for his feelings about this, and the Model is upset that President Jack Tunney hasn’t given him the title shot outright. Martel tells his admirers to however not worry as soon enough, Martel will have gold around his waist. (70) Greg Valentine defeated Sam Houston in 6:20 via submission with a figure 4 leg lock. (52) The Hart Foundation is interviewed by Lord Alfred Hayes over the incident on Superstars when they saved The Rockers from the Nasty Boys. Bret says he is sick and tired of the Nasty Boys walking around thinking that this is their joint and that until the Nasty Boys take the gold off of the Hart Foundation they have nothing to shout about. Anvil then challenges the Nasty Boys to a match, saying that they will be happy to put their titles on the line. (69) A video is shown of the end of Superstars when Jim Duggan saved Hogan from a double team by Dino Bravo and Earthquake. We then cut to ringside where Vince McMahon announces that the main event of next weeks episode of Superstars will see Hogan team up with Duggan to face Earthquake and Bravo. (70) The Orient Express with Mr Fuji beat The Bushwackers in 4:40 when Pat Tanaka got the pinfall on Bushwacker Butch. (55) Backstage Jimmy Hart is with Earthquake and Dino Bravo hyping up their just announced Tag Team match with Hulk Hogan and Jim Duggan on next week’s episode of Superstars. (71) The Big Bossman beats Hercules with Slick in 6:68 via pinfall with the Bossman slam. (69) Gene Okerlund is at the WWF update centre hyping up the Royal Rumble match between Sgt Slaughter and the Ultimate Warrior. They show clips of the two men speaking about each other in past weeks aswell as the clip of Ultimate Warrior rejecting Sensational Sherri’s challenge from Randy Savage. (85) The Undertaker (w/Paul Bearer) defeated Nickolai Volkoff via pinfall at 8:03 by pinfall with a Tombstone Piledriver (79) Overall Grade:77 Backstage note The Big Bossman has been identified as a hard drug users. With this being his first offence, The Big Bossman has been issued with a fine.</div></blockquote>

It is believed that when the chance comes, the WWF will look to switch to a larger network in order to improve ratings. The most likely network they would switch to are TNT, who are interested in having a wrestling show on their network. WCW’s main show Saturday Night drew a 2.99 rating on TBS. It was a disappointing week for the WWF who not only were beaten by WCW in the ratings, but lost out in the fight to sign free agents Rick Rude and Ricky Steamboat who both decided to join WCW instead. The WWF did however re-sign the wife and former manager of “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Miss Elizabeth to a three year deal. Expect more signings in the upcoming weeks. Jim Duggan faced a hard time dealing with Earthquake and Bravo whose strength along with the presence of Jimmy Hart at ringside allowed them to control a good portion of the match. However when Bravo set up Duggan for the piledriver, it was countered into a back body drop and Duggan made the hot tag to Hogan. Cue Hulkamania gone wild, Hulk up, big boot and Legdrop, and Hogan got the pinfall as Duggan picks up his 2x4 daring Earthquake to stop the count. Winners: Hulk Hogan and Jim Duggan in 8:49 via pinfall when Hogan pinned Bravo after the Legdrop. Grade: 73 After the match Hulk Hogan points at Earthquake and tells him to come into the ring, but Earthquake is talked out of it by Jimmy Hart. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36307" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>The show ends with the Pipers Pit featuring Royal Rumble opponents WWF Champion The Ultimate Warrior and challenger Sgt Slaughter. With the attitude of Piper, the opinions of Slaughter and the pure out crazy of Warrior it turned into a very heated segment. Roddy Piper verbally lays into Slaughter before asking him whether he actually thinks he would be a good role model and a good leader for the WWF by holding the most prestigious title in wrestling today. Slaughter: Roddy Piper what you get with me is integrity, what you get is a man who can right the wrongs of the modern world today, a man who can be an inspirational leader. Someone who the people can look up to and respect. What you get with the Ultimate Puke is a man with no class, no integrity and it's people like him that make this country the state it is in today. Sgt Slaughter then walks over to General Adnan and takes the Iraqi flag off him and starts waving it in the air to massive heat. The Warrior is furious with Slaughter's comments and he is grunting very heavily before storming over to Slaughter snatching the flag off him and braking it in two over his knee! The two men went chin to chin with the Warrior crazily yelling in Slaughter’s face. Out of nowhere comes RANDY SAVAGE WHO SMASHES A SCEPTOR OVER THE BACK OF THE WARRIOR! Piper looks to make the save but Savage and Slaughter send him crashing down with a barrage of hits. They then re-focus on Warrior, stomping away at the Champion as Queen Sensational Sherri comes onto the scene maniacally laughing at the Warrior. BUT HULK HOGAN RUSHES ONTO THE STAGE TO MAKE THE SAVE! Hogan has a chair in his hand and the only reason Savage and Slaughter aren’t attacked with it, is that they realised the incoming danger with a deafening scream by Sherri who flees off with Savage and Slaughter off the stage. Hogan then helps Warrior to his feet as Piper also gets to his. Hogan: Let me make a promise to everyone in this arena today, everyone watching at home. Come the Royal Rumble and I make this a promise, If I have to I will make sure that Sgt Slaughter never becomes the WWF Champion. So if "Macho King" Randy Savage wants to get involved and cost Warrior the match, then brotha I will be two steps behind you to stop you! The LOD dominated him in the early phases only for a surprise dropkick to Animal out of nowhere before tagging in DiBiase helped his team get back into the match. DiBiase and Virgil did work surprisingly well as a team when having the upper hand, distracting the referee and throwing cheap shots in any time they could. Virgil though couldn’t handle the brute power of the LOD. After both Animal and Hawk hit a repertoire of power manoeuvres, Ted DiBiase just watched on from the apron in disgust as the LOD hit the Doomsday Device for the victory. Well here you go Virgil I’m gonna put my hands behind my back and you can punch me right in the face. DiBiase puts his hands behind his back as the crowd scream for Virgil to hit him. DiBiase pulls his hands away from behind his back. DiBiase: You can punch me in the face, but if you do not only am I going to fire you on the spot but I am going to tell the world about your biggest deepest shames. Tell them about your struggles growing up, tell everyone about how poor and pathetic your parents are. Virgil shoves the microphone right out of DiBiase’s hands to a huge pop. But instead of striking DiBiase he walks over to the corner picks up the Million Dollar Belt and places it over DiBiase’s shoulder. DiBiase mouths “That’s what I thought” as he picks up huge heat as the two walk off with DiBiase giving his trademark cackle. Meanwhile in the commentary booth “Rowdy” Roddy Piper is irate at what he’s just seen. Piper: I’m sorry Vinnie Mac, Gorilla I am sick and tired of sitting here and watching people like The Million Dollar Man walk around thinking that they can get away with anything in the WWF today. The Million Dollar Man is a bully and I’m gonna put a stop to it! “Rowdy” Roddy Piper then puts down his headset and walks away from the announce table. Slick on the outside advises Warlord to focus on the Warrior’s injury and the Warlord obliges. It wasn’t a very pretty match, but it was a well worked one with the Warrior selling his injury quite well. The Warlord had the Warrior clutched in a bearhug for over a minute, but the Warrior responded to the gods and fought out and starting taking it to The Warlord. Warrior hits a series of clotheslines, before a big shoulder block and a body splash which seems to take the wind out of the Warrior but he still has enough in him to cover the Warlord and take the win. We then cut to the backstage area to Okerlund and Tunney. Tunney says that due to both Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan’s proclamations that they will cost the Ultimate Warrior and Sgt Slaughter respectively in that match he has had to make a decision. He says that for the first time ever THE TITLE WILL CHANGE HANDS ON A DISQUALIFICATION so if Hogan attacks Sgt Slaughter then Sgt Slaughter will be crowned the WWF Champion, and if Randy Savage attacks the Ultimate Warrior the Warrior will retain his championship. Jack Tunney: I don’t particularly agree with the rules of this match, but I had to make sure that this match has a fair and decisive conclusion. It was an exciting opening to the bout with back and forth pinfalls exchanged between the two before the Davey Boy gained the advantage after clotheslining Savage over the top rope to the outside (Possible signs of what’s to come at the Royal Rumble?). Bulldog used his power game to his advantage and looked to finish it off by hoisting Savage onto his shoulders for the Running Powerslam. However Bulldog is distracted by Queen Sherri who climbs onto the ring apron giving Savage that split second to slide off Bulldog and gain some time to recover after hitting a back body drop. Randy Savage also looked to go for his finisher late on in the match with the big elbow but as he climbed onto the turnbuckle, Bulldog hurried to his feet and superplexed Savage off the top rope down to the mat below. The ending eventually came after a thrilling final few minutes came when Bulldog came charging at Savage who sidestepped out of the way and threw him shoulder first into the ring post. Bulldog then staggers back into Savage who rolls him up and has a handful of the tights for the big win. The Hart Foundation - Build them up for the Royal Rumble.

The Undertaker - I don't know why, but i don't see Snuka beating Taker anytime, Wrestlemania or not.

Rick Martel & Mr. Perfect - Tough one here.

Sgt. Slaughter - He has a big match at the Royal Rumble (Well, short match if he loses, as it's against The Warrior), so he needs the win.

Demolition - Do i have to say something?

Tugboat - I push Jacques here, but i think that you're not going to.

British Bulldog - Power, but no Glory.

Tito Santana - Another tough one. Both are in physical decline in this era, i think, and both can get the win here. But going with Chico.
