Another Boring UFC Dynasty

Recommended Posts

Background:

So I have a save that is pretty far along and I decided to post it here. I'll take it back from the start and post all of my old events just like I were doing it live. I'll let you guys make predictions and keep track of those points. Some kind of award will be given to the winner(s) once we catch up to where I'm at in the save.

Let's set the stage. Brock Lesnar was relevant, Alistair Overeem was still a title contender, Anderson Silva was Middleweight Champion (he hadn't even fought Sonnen for a second time) and Dominick Cruz didn't yet suffer a debilitating knee injury.

I'm using one of the Modern Warriors mods (which one I cannot recall) and the save starts in December of 2011. I'm currently in February of 2015. So it should be a fun ride. This won't be the most detailed for a while, it's mostly going to be a results thread. Largely because I don't have a lot of access to what the rankings would have been or who I signed and when I signed them.

#20 Tito Ortiz vs. Aaron Rosa

Background - Tito Ortiz is still looking to find his former self in the octagon. He's had little luck. After defeating Ryan Bader it seemed things were on the come-up for the Huntington Beach Bad Boy however he suffered a TKO at the hands of Rashad Evans in his last fight.

After being TKO'd in his UFC Debut, Texan Aaron Rosa is looking to rebound with a stunning win over a UFC Legend.

Nine Years the Elder of Rosa, Ortiz storms the center of the ring at the bell.

His rush ends when he's forced to block a flurry of Rosa's fists.

Ortiz goes for a takedown but is stuffed.

Each man circling the other looking for an opening.

Rosa is reaching with his jab, but not finding distance.

Ortiz looks very cautious.

Halfway through a boring opening round.

The crowd begins to stir after another uneventful twenty seconds.

Rosa unloads with a high kick that Ortiz ducks.

Ortiz finally lunges for a takedown and begins to work Rosa into the cage.

Rosa is looking to grab a guillotine on the takedown...

and does!

Rosa has Ortiz in his guard as he tries to connect his hands.

Rosa just can't seem to get the choke, and he's giving up on it entirely.

Rosa sweeps Ortiz with 15 seconds left in the round.

Round 1 ends with Rosa on top.

Round 1 - 10-9 Rosa.

Rd. 2

Ortiz seems to still have energy although Rosa looks to be breathing heavily.

Rosa tosses a jab but Ortiz ducks it and lands a massive overhand right.

It connects stifly onto Rosa's jaw and Ortiz jumps onto the crippled Rosa.

Aaron Rosa gathers himself after eating a few strikes.

He yanks Ortiz into side control.

Ortiz begins to work him over and grabs a loose arm.

Ortiz locks in an armbar and cranks it back as Rosa taps out.

Winner: Tito Ortiz via Armbar at 2:44 in Round Two.
Tito Ortiz called out Forrest Griffin for their much anticipated Rubber Match.

#2 Chael Sonnen vs. #16 Alan Belcher

Background - Chael Sonnen suffered a tragic loss to Anderson Silva just last year. He rebounded with a big victory over Brian Stann by Arm Triangle and now all that stand between him and his super anticipated rematch against the Spider his Alan Belcher. Dana White has confirmed that the winner of this fight will be in line for a title shot with Silva. Sonnen is a heavy favorite.

Alan "The Talent" Belcher is a phenomenal talent. At 26 he is coming off of three straight wins including a Submission via Strikes in his last bout against Jason MacDonald. Belcher is a fast rising prospect and he is hoping that he can take the next step with a win over Sonnen.

Tale of the Tape

Sonnen:

Age - 33

Record - 26-11-1

Style - Wrestler

Height - 6'1"

Weight - 185lbs

Record - 17-6

Style - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Height - 6'2"

Weight - 185lbs

Sonnen is now trying to vary his attack at the midway point in the first round.

The round comes to a close with Belcher in control.

Round 1 - 10-9 Sonnen

Sonnen looks fresh here in round one and he immediately goes for a shot.

This one is successful as he ends up in Belcher's guard.

Sonnen is trying to pass but can't.

Some feeble ground squabbling from both men results in a stand up.

Halfway point of round two.

Belcher clinches with Sonnen and tussles his way into a Muay Thai clinch.

Belcher can't keep the hold for more than a few seconds but did hit a scything elbow on the way out.

It appears that the elbow opened a small cut above Sonnen's right eye.

The round comes to a close after Belcher lands a few jabs to open up Sonnen's cut.

Round 2 - 10-9 Belcher.

Rd. 3

Sonnen's eye is mostly patched up.

Nevermind, Belcher hits a huge head kick that rips open Sonnen's cut.

Sonnen doesn't seem to be too hurt by the shot though.

Emboldened by his successful head kick Belcher tries with the opposite leg.

He soon regrets the decision as Sonnen telegraphs it and puts him on his back

Sonnen looks to move out of guard but Belcher grabs a stray arm!

Belcher begins to cranks the arm back and uses it to sweep Sonnen into side control.

Belcher continues to work the kimura and at risk of breaking his shoulder Sonnen taps out!

Huge Upset!

Winner: Alan Belcher via Kimura at 3:54 in Round Three.
Alan Belcher is thrilled in his post fight interview and claims he is absolutely ready for Anderson Silva. Chael looks absolutely beside himself.

#17 Anthony Pettis vs. #9 Gray Maynard

Background - Anthony Pettis is electrifying. He's a young fearsome striker. He certainly looks to upset the established Maynard and a win here in this co-main event thrusts him into International Superstardom for sure

Maynard isn't the youngest guy around. He has boatloads of experience, he's a dominating wrestler and has cinderblocks for hands. After some really tough go arounds with Frankie Edgar it is time for him to build his way back.

Tale of the Tape

Pettis:

Age - 24

Record - 14-2

Style - Taekwondo

Height - 5'9"

Weight - 155lbs

Round 1 - 10-9 Pettis

Rd. 2

Pettis hits a few strikes to rattle off the start of the round.

Thanks to Maynard's best Ray Lewis impression he's in Pettis' halfguard.

Pettis is actually doing a remarkable job controlling posture.

Halfway through Round Two now.

Maynard is slowly getting frustrated.

In an attempt to leap to side control Maynard is instead put in full guard.

Pettis has surprisingly good ground control from his back against Maynard.

The referee finally stands them with the round closing out.

Maynard lands a few strikes to end the round. Boring round two.

Round 2 - 10-9 Maynard.

Rd. 3

Pettis walks out into the center of the ring. It seems he's laboring.

Spending an entire round fighting from your back had to take it out of him.

Maynard lands a few shots, Pettis' hands are hanging low.

Pettis gets his bell rung by a hard right straight and backs into the cage.

Maynard begins to launch volleys of strikes onto the young Pettis against the cage.

Pettis is getting pelted and falls to the ground.

The abuse is going on a little long before the referee finally jumps in.

Outstanding work by Gray Maynard.

Winner: Gray Maynard via TKO at 2:57 in Round Three.
Very humble after his win, Maynard stated he'll be happy to face whoever Joe Silva puts in front of him.

#1 Cain Velasquez© vs. #2 Junior Dos Santos

Background - Cain Velasquez is coming off of a devastating TKO of Brock Lesnar in order to win the title. Brock was coming off a rather severe bout with diverticulitis so say what you will about whether that dampens his victory, he still has the belt around his waist. He's looking to legitimize himself further by beating Dos Santos.

Big Junior Dos Santos comes into the Octagon on an 8 fight win streak. He will enjoy a size advantage over the smaller Velasquez. Dos Santos has hands of granite and although he doesn't have the wrestling ability of Cain, if he lands one shot it's goodnight for the champ.

Tale of the Tape

Velasquez:

Age - 28

Record - 9-0

Style - Wrestler

Height - 6'1"

Weight - 240lbs

Dos Santos:

Age - 26

Record - 13-1

Style - Boxing

Height - 6'4"

Weight - 255lbs

Rd. 1

Dos Santos and Velasquez touch gloves and it's all under way.

The lead up to the fight has been rather cordial and that's soon to change.

Fisticuffs are exchanged early with Cain being noticeably slower.

Dos Santos rattles off a couple of punches.

It looks like one of those various straights and jabs caught Cain hard.

Velasquez is actually stumbling about and in a daze lunges at Cigano.

Dos Santos scrambles out of the way but Cain is regaining his wits.

Velasquez gets caught again with a hard left hook.

I have no idea how he is still standing!

Dos Santos moving in for the kill at the halfway mark.

Dos Santos misses a jab and Velasquez ties him up in a clinch.

Cain tries to pummel his way to a body lock and does.

Dos Santos looks powerless to stop from getting slammed but he actually uses the momentum and his body weight to fall on top!

Dos Santos hurriedly escapes guard and gets to his feet.

Thirty seconds left in the round and Velasquez is running at Junior.

Dos Santos dodges a straight, fires back a jab that misses and...

Gets caught with a massive overhand right that crunches hard on Dos Santos' nose.

Junior backs into the cage beyond dazed as the bell rings!

Insane round of action; the crowd is going nuts!

Round 1 - 10-9 Dos Santos

Rd. 2[/u[

The Champ will want to avoid another round like that if he wants to survive.

Dos Santos looks a little tired and is plodding.

Velasquez doesn't exactly look fresh but has a little more pep.

Dos Santos stuffs a takedown attempt and blasts Cain with a stiff jab.

Cain pulls out a spinning back fist! It doesn't find home however and instead eats another jab.

Cain gets in close and is working a clinch.

Dos Santos finds just enough room in the clinch and plasters him with an uppercut.

Cain is wobbly and he goes to the ground flat on his ass with Dos Santos following.

Dos Santos leaps in with a punch that misses as Cain initiates a scramble.

Halfway point of the round and both men get to their feet.

The crowd is raucous and Cain is looking in a bad way right now.

Dos Santos comes forward with a punch that misses and Cain fires back!

A massive left straight, right uppercut combo rattles Cigano and the challenger is sent reeling.

Cain isn't letting up either as he hits another series of jabs and straights, about seven in total, all finding home.

Dos Santos has a chin of marble for eating these shots.

Dos Santos fires an overhead right that glances off Velasquez's shoulder.

Velasquez uses this opportunity to grab a grapple from behind Dos Santos.

After a brief struggle, Velasquez lifts Dos Santos up and absolutely plants him on his head; a huge suplex by Velasquez.

Dos Santos looks in a bad way, Cain scrambles to his knees and is leaning over the challenger.

Dos Santos is trying to defend but Cain is absolutely bashing his head in with some insane ground and pound.

The referee has seen enough of Cain using his face as a combo dummy and pulls the champ off of Dos Santos.

An absolutely electric match! One for the ages! The crowd cannot stop chanting for the champ.

Winner: Cain Velasquez via TKO at 4:49 in Round Two.
Velasquez announced how thrilled he was to have won that match. Discusses possible rematch with Lesnar. Dos Santos says he is humbled by his first UFC loss and will begin his climb again in earnest.
