WCW: The Art of War (1994 Redux)

Recommended Posts

OOC: So, there I was prepping for Bash at the Beach, when.... poof... my file was gone. Apparently, I had been clearing out some databases, and cleared out the wrong one. Oops. Don't drink and TEW, kids. Let that be a lesson to you all. BUT ALL IS NOT LOST! Being that I was so early into the diary, it was pretty simple to jump back in. I decided just to scrap and start over since I had made a couple of minor mistakes along the way (along with one stupid one that hadn't made it into the diary yet). If you had read any of the previous one, you'll see some similarities. But I think I'm in a better place this time!

So, let's sit back and travel back to a time a little simpler. When Flair's chest had definition and Hogan's skullet ruled the wrestling world. July 1994 and WCW has just signed Hogan to the largest contract in the wrestling world. Besides the signing, things seemed pretty typical around the wrestling landscape ... or is it??

The Player's Character:

Jake Steele

Steele played college football at Rutgers in New Jersey where he was a punter and a kicker. Despite being a special team's player, he was known for wearing defensive back pads and a tinted visor... even indoors. Rumors spread that he had his coach, Craig T Nelson, fired for unknown reasons. Many regarded him as a master manipulator.

He took up professional wrestling after training with Dean Malenko, whom he met in New Jersey. He's cocky, charismatic with a decent amount of star power. He's a guy who could turn into a solid worker, but for now, he will be relegated to the undercard. (OOC: Steele is done pretty close to Derek's Road to Glory character build guidelines. So, he's not a star right now by any means. We'll have to wait and see where he ends up!)

This Week In Wrestling

Wrestling News:

The wrestling world is still a buzz after WCW's shocking signing of "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan. Even though he has yet to make an appearance for the promotion, his suspected target is none-other than WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Ric Flair.

You’ll have to pardon WCW if the undercard is less than the focus in the coming weeks.

Preparations are underway for the expected main event for the upcoming Bash at the Beach. The contact has been written up and is just waiting the two mega-stars' signatures. Though, rumors are starting to pop up that Flair is none-too happy about Hogan showing up and going straight after "his" title. But management is not concerned about the contracts being signed.

WCW News:

Contract extensions have reportedly been handed out to a handful of workers. Plus numerous phone calls have been made to some workers looking for contracts. WCW's roster is expected to grow as they try out many new workers over the coming weeks!

A few staff members have seen their jobs terminated, while reassignments for others been started taking place. Harley Race has accepted a Road Agent position. No details as to if he’ll be appearing on TV with Vader in the future.

Announcer crews are:

Events: Gordon Solie Bobby Heenan and Jesse Ventura

Dusty Rhodes stands on one side with Funk and Col. Parker standing on the other. The match was heavy hitting and back and forth. Meng gets a near fall after an upward strike to Dustin’s neck. Dustin gets a near fall following a massive scoopslam. Rhodes and Meng tie back up and it looks like Meng is about to Irish Whip Rhodes toward the ropes. Seeing an opportunity, Funk jumps on the apron. But instead of Meng whipping Rhodes, The Natural counters sending Meng toward Funk. Funk, already well into his motion, hits Meng by mistake!</p><p> </p><p> Rhodes bounces off the ropes and lands a bulldog and gets the 1-2-3. The Studs pull Meng form the ring and rush to the back. WCW Saturday Night

Reunion Arena - Dallas, Tx- 15,000 SELL OUT

Schiavone and Heenan welcome everyone to Dallas for the latest episode of WCW Saturday Night. Heenan is wearing a tin foil hat as they recap last week's episode that the contract signing between Hogan and Flair will occur.

Heenan: I call it like I see it, and this smells bad.

Schiavone tilts his head confused before sending it to the ring. They jump to the ring where Mean Gene is ready to get the show rolling by announcing two new signings for WCW. He tells everyone that the two men are known the world over. Superstars who will make a difference. He says he wants to first announce… from Parts Unknown… A steady guitar riff of eigth notes plays. Drums accent a strong downbeat.

http://www.allwrestlingnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/ultimate-warrior-150x150.jpg

THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR! He sprints from the back tassels and hair flying. He slides into the rings and begins shaking the ropes. He flexes, grunts and looks around the arena before standing standing next to Gene. Gene then announces, that the other new comer is the pride of United Kingdom. As he says it Rule, Britannia! begins playing.

http://th264.photobucket.com/albums/ii186/MCMachineGun/EWR/D%20Pictures/th_Davey_Boy_Smith.jpg

The British superstar walks out with his brown hair dreaded and a UK flag themed robe. He walked to the ring and takes his place next to Warrior.

Schaivone: If Hogan weren't enough,The Ultimate Warrior and British Bulldog are here in WCW! What a coup for our boys down South and a treat for our fans here in Dallas!

Heenan: What is this? The United Tassels?

Schaivone: You just can't enjoy anything, can you?

Gene interviews the two workers. Warrior grunts and rambles gravely. He talks about the spaceships and stars that brought him here for his Warriors. The sacrifies made and some stuff that is pretty inaudible. Without skipping a beat, Gene thanks him and talks to Davey Boy Smith. He talks about his excitement about being apart of WCW. But during their introduction… the lights dim and a broadcast begins to play.

http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_1400878368_849ca48e42_4936.jpg

The scene starts in an abandoned circus or amusement park. The midway games are empty and dilapidated. In the distance we hear a laughter. The laughing grows louder as we enter the Big Top. It’s haunting and almost familiar. It echoes through the tent. Fire shoots from the center of the arena as a voice speaks "time for the show…"

Heenan: I’m scared, Tony. Hold me.

Schiavone: No.

The two new workers are left confused. Warrior marches around the ring looking for the source, but is unable to find it. He lets out a massive roar.

Eddie Guerroro v Dean Malenko

Though the new workers are new to WCW, they are not new to each other. The fans are really enjoying these new young workers in the WCW. Despite Malenko not having much of a personality, they respect his work in the ring. Dean tries his best to keep Guerrero grounded by using most of his 1,000 holds. Guerrero finally takes control though and hits a Frog Splash for the victory.

They cut backstage where Cactus Jack and Kevin Sullivan are ready to talk. They seem an odd combination as partners, but their desire to just hurt people seems to bring them together. They talk about the win over the Nasty Boys and the on going tag team tournament.

Sullivan: Understand something, just winning some tournament is not going to grant you right to our titles. Getting into the ring with us is not for the faint of heart.

http://www.inlewd.com/champions/belts/wcw/wcw_tv.gif

WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

Regal and Patroit start off their match as soon as we return from commercial break. The Patriot tries to put up a battle with Regal, but the champion is able to take control pretty early in the match up. Patriot begins a comeback, but it's cut short when Regal catches him in an Exploder Suplex and gets the 1, 2, 3.

Bunkhouse Buck and Terry Funk are in the ring when Dustin and Dusty Rhodes step out and say they're ready to introduce Dustin's partner. They move aside flanking the entrance when a single guitar begins playing.

http://i348.photobucket.com/albums/q335/stuffswcw/wcw91/windham.png

The crowd pops as Windham makes his way out. They trio throw their arms up making the Hook'em Horns hand sign.

Schiavone: It's the Cowboy Barry Windham!

Heenan: This is why I hate coming to Texas...

Rating: C+ (i would have expected a bigger pop from the Texas crowd. But I suppose everyone was coming back from the bathrooms.)

Considering the Texas ties in the match, there is no surprise the crowd being involved in this match up. Terry and Dustin start out and the veteran takes early control of the match. Funk panders to the crowd drawing many boos and even a few cheers. After Dustin counters a Funk headlock, Windham makes his first appearance into the match and the crowd erupts. Double ax handle for Funk and a dropkick for Buck. And the Cowboy has made a successful return to the ring.

The match balances back out until Windham hits Buck with a massive Lariat and gets the 1, 2, 3 before Funk can make the save. Funk stands over Buck dejected after the loss.

Simmons walks up to Badd and you can hear him, "look at you. look at you. You are a disgrace." Badd slaps Simmons… which was probably a bad idea. The former All-American levels Badd with a massive clothesline.

The match settles down and Badd works his way back into control over Simmons. Simmons kicks out of a moonsault from Badd, and while Badd argues with the ref for a moment, Lord Steven Regal makes an appearance near ring sing. It's enough to get Badd leaning against the ropes yelling at Regal. Steven points toward Badd and the now standing Ron Simmons. Badd turns around, charges Simmons but is met by a Spinbuster. Regal smiles and leaves as Ron's hand is raised.

Anderson and Pillman team together like they’ve been together for years. Tagging in and out with proficiency. Bad Attitude tries to mount and offensive, but they just can’t keep the Enforcer down. Keirn and Eaton try to get an advantage by double teaming Pillman, but a hot tag leads to multiple spinebusters from Double A. He hits a big DDT on Eaton and the new team picks up a quick 1, 2, 3.

The main event match is upon us. But you’ll have to pardon the buzz in the crowd for what is coming up afterward: the contract signing between Flair and Hogan for the Main Event at Bash at the Beach.

The rest of the tag team competitors are surely glad that these two teams are not officially in the tournament for the No. 1 contendership. The four men stand and size each other up. There is a lot of bad blood standing in the ring, and that’d be true even if Vader weren’t in there.

Speaking of Vader’s size, he uses it to his advantage of the match tossing Steamboat from corner to corner following it up with massive splashes. But Steamboat is able to duck out of the way.

Back and forth the match goes with each fighter getting their share of action including Austin keeping Sting from being able to lock on the Deathlock. Sting and Vader are fighting on the outside, and Steamboat comes hits a quick kick to Austin … 2 … and Austin kicks out!

Austin tags Vader in and the bigman goes for the Vadersault, but The Dragon eludes him again! Sting comes in lands a Stinger Splash. Austin runs into disrupt the momentum but Steamboat flies across the ring and catches him with a cross body! Sting climbs the ropes and hits a diving splash on the big man and 1…2 … 3!

Gene lets everyone know that this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. The table is set up in the middle of the ring. The two men are introduced and they sit at the table. Hogan in his traditional tanktop, bandana and weightlifting belt. Flair sits back in the chair in a new suit with his feet up on the table. The Big Gold Belt sitting on the table next to him.

Heenan: Don’t do it, Ric. Don’t sign that contract.

Schiavone: What are you saying, Brain? Are you wanting to deprive the entire world of the greatest match we’ve ever seen?

Heenan: No, I’m wanting to make save the world from Hogan!

Gene tells everyone about the history each two wrestlers has. Their championships and their victories. He hypes the notion that this is the greatest clash of fighters since Ali/Fraiser. All that is missing is their signatures.

Hogan: Brotha, I've been waiting a long time for this one. Hulkamania didn't come here to lose to some guy with a $500 haircut and glittery robe. You'd better be sayin' you prayers, brotha. Because Hulkamania is about to run wild on you. Brotha.

Flair sets the pen down and takes his sunglasses off slowly and sets them on the table. He flairs his lapel and looks at Hogan pointing his finger squarely at him.

Flair: You talk all you want, Hulkster. But there is just one problem that I see with this contract. You see I’ve seen you riding in Billionaire Ted’s limo. On his private Jet that happens to be parked next to my own. I’ve seen you in the suites and frankly… I. Don’t. Trust you.

Hogan: I can beat you now. Or I can beat you later. It doesn’t matter to me, brotha. But why do you do everyone in this building a favor and sign that contract.

Gene panicked moves the contract closer to Flair and hands him the pen. He puts the pen’s point on the paper, but stops.

Flair: No.

Hogan stands.

Hogan: You sign that contract Flair. You’ve been a coward you’re whole life. You sign that right now and you face me at Bash of the Beach!

Flair stands and flips the table…

Flair: I WON’T SIGN IT. I WON’T SIGN IT!

Flair is jamming his finger toward Hogan. Security comes out to keep them seperated. Flair is still yelling. Gene drops his arms in disbelief. The announcers don’t have anything to say. Flair keeps yelling that he won’t sign it as the screen cuts to the WCW logo.

The podium in the center with a table coming off each side of it. Little signs are set up to designate who would be sitting behind them. They appear to be the appropriate people as well. </p><p> </p><p> On the other side are the signs for Ric Flair, Gene Okerlund and Nick Patrick, the scheduled referee, but Flair's is left empty. The room is full with some press and Gene stands up to move behind the podium. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Gene:</strong> It appears that Mr. Flair will not be joining us today. As of now, we have no further updates. We will keep you posted if anything new transpires. </p><p> </p><p> The room erupts in questions about what this does for the Bash PPV, but Gene simply deflects. Hogan and the gang look dejected and unresponsive to the questions. Until Hogan's face turns to anger he stands and flips the table… because in the wrestling world, if there is a table to be flipped, it gets flipped. The rest of the people all move out of the way as Hogan pushes the podium over storming off. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Schaivone: </strong>It looks like Flair is the one we shouldn't be trusting, Brain. </p><p> <strong>Heenan:</strong> You all may think Hogan's colors are red and yellow, but they're not. Regal has no time for that though hitting Wright with a series of European uppercuts. A near fall, but the youngster fights out. </p><p> </p><p> Das Vunderkind hits a big dropkick from the top rope and gets a 1, 2 and almost! Wright goes for a belly-to-back suplex only to have it countered by Regal. Regal locks in a chicken-wing stretch forcing Wright to tap. </p><p> Regal celebrates and Wright is forced to wait for his next match basking in the afterglow of defeat. </p><p> </p><p> Key Quotes:</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Schiavone:</strong> What would it mean if Wright walked away tonight with both the TV title and a shot at the Tag Team Titles!?</p><p> <strong>Heenan: </strong>That the world's ending. </p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:8px;">Rating: C</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a573/Ashley_Menzies/WCWBanner_zps3a902cad.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36376" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/8755/geneokerlund.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW%201994/RickySteamboat.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Cut backstage and Gene is standing by with Ricky Steamboat. The two have been working well together since forming their tag team. Even floating around an idea for their team name: Das Vunder-Stud. They come to the ring and dance for a moment before shedding the leather coats </p><p> </p><p> The two state patrol officers don't seem much of a match for the two young grapplers only managing a near fall. Wright doesn't seem to be any worse for wear after his opening match. Wright gets a near fall after a top rope splash. He tags in Studd and they hit a double DDT making quick work of their opponents. </p><p> </p><p> Key Quotes:</p><p> <strong>Schiavone:</strong> Another win for Das Vunder-Studd!</p><p> <strong>Heenan:</strong> Don't encourage them, tony. </p><p> <strong>Shciavone:</strong> What's not to like about these guys?</p><p> <strong>Heenan:</strong> I hate their hair. Dreamer sets himself up as the best brawler in the ring and it might not be that close. The crazed look he gets when pounding on Skaggs head brings a huge cheer from the crowd. Richards gets a near fall on Knobbs after a tornado DDT. And they come close once against about a double suplex. </p><p> </p><p> The Nastys though are veterans and former champions and with a chance for the titles again, they are just too much for Richards and Dreamer. A Trip to Nastyville seals it for the 1, 2 and 3. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Key Quotes</strong></p><p> <strong>Schiavone:</strong> The Nasty Boys pull out a big win to keep alive in the tournament and they will face off against Das Vunder-Studd heading into Bash at the Beach!</p><p> <strong>Heenan:</strong> You mean we have to see more of them!?</p><p> </p><p> Nasty Boys d South Philly Renegades</p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:8px;">Rating: C+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a573/Ashley_Menzies/WCWBanner_zps3a902cad.jpg</span><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36376" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><span>http://www.allwrestlingnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/ultimate-warrior-150x150.jpg</span><span>http://th264.photobucket.com/albums/ii186/MCMachineGun/EWR/D%20Pictures/th_Davey_Boy_Smith.jpg</span></div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><div><p></p><p> We cut backstage where Davey Boy Smith and Warrior are standing. Booker T gets the first pinfall attempt after a massive running knee drop on Dustin. </p><p> </p><p> The teams trade blows and positions and Windham helps The Texas Dream Team, as they want to be called, when he almost gets Booker T to not respond to a sleeper hold. Stevie Ray breaks it up. Booker finally makes a tag and to get Stevie in and he begins wrecking shop. He knocks both men to the outside and awaits Rhodes to get back into the ring. Rhodes tricks Stevie Ray and hits a DDT and looks ready to wrap things up…</p><p> </p><p> </p><p><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW%201994/TerryFunk.jpg</span><span>http://i379.photobucket.com/albums/oo239/SyrjisEWR/Wrestlers/Own%20Cuts/B%20images/Bunkhouse_Buck.jpg</span></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> When Funk and Buck show up. It should be a good warmup for Sting before facing Vader. Even though Funk doesn't have the size, it does take a lot to take out the old veteran. </p><p> </p><p> Funk demonstrates by torturing Sting with a string of massive right hands in the corner. Sting punches back but is only blasted with a suplex. Sting fights back and following an impressive offensive string, hits a Stinger Splash in the corner. He whips Funk to the opposing but Funk dodges. Funk grabs Sting by the head but he is interrupted by Dustin Rhodes who comes from the back. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/DustinRhodes.jpg</span></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> He says that he's actually glad that Funk cost them that match earlier… because now he has more of a reason to kick his --- (censored by TBS). </p><p> </p><p> Funk lets Sting go to lean on the ropes and yell toward Dustin, "I'll see you Sunday!"</p><p> </p><p> Funk turns around to a massive clothesline from Sting. Sting takes the veteran and drops a two elbows onto the knees before locking in the Scorpion Deathlock. It's only seconds before Funk taps. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Key Quotes:</strong></p><p> <strong>Schiavone:</strong> "Looks like we've got a new match for Bash at the Beach! A table in the middle of the ring with Gene waiting to lets us know what is happening. Both Hogan and Flair are introduced. Flair has a big smile on his face this time. Gene says that he hopes this goes better than the previous ones. Flair nods. Gene asks what it was the he was demanding.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Flair: </strong>You see Mean Gene. The very simple fact is that I needed some reassurances for this. I needed to make sure I was being taken care of. I thought maybe Jimmy Hart isn't allowed at ring side. But that's not enough. Then I thought no disqualification, but that's not going to cut it either. Everything was basically thrown out except for good-old reliable. </p><p> </p><p> I want you in the cage, Hogan! And the only way you can win is by escaping over the top! There are no doors. No ways in other than being in the ring when the cage is lowered. Then it just you and The Nature Boy Woo!</p><p> </p><p> Hogan smirks and signs the contract. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Hogan:</strong> You can call this your backyard all you want Flair. But inside that ring is my home, and I can't wait to have you alone in that cage. </p><p> </p><p> Flair puts his signature on the contract. I'M THE MAN! WOOO! THE MAN! </p><p> </p><p> The two men stand and stare at each other from across the table. Hogan tosses the table aside and the two are nose to nose. Hogan snarls and Flair smirks. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Schiavone:</strong> He did it! He signed!</p><p> <strong>Heenan:</strong> I like this. Flair gets Hogan his way. A couple of european uppercuts puts Badd against the ropes. The champ whips Badd across the ring and connects with a knee to the midsection. Half of the Nasty Boys is now gone! </p><p> </p><p> Arn reenters the ring and Pillman and Anderson are the only full team left. They tag in and out keeping each other fresh to the point that it forces Knobbs and Booker to work together!</p><p> </p><p> Heenan: These matches will make strange bed fellows out of anyone!</p><p> </p><p> Knobbs and Booker hit a double-suplex on Arn. Arn kicks out at 2. Knobbs whips him into the ropes but ducks down too soon and receives a big boot to the side of the head from Arn. </p><p> </p><p> Arn goes for another spinebuster, but KNOBBS COUNTERS INTO A POWERSLAM! 1! 2! 3! And we're down to the final three. </p><p> </p><p> Pillman, probably the most rested of the trio, jumps into the ring and runs rough-shot on both Knobbs and Booker T. Big drop kicks knocks Booker from the rings. He then flips Knobbs into the turnbuckle and climbs the turnbuckle and pounds away on Knobbs. But Knobbs hoists him up as if he's going to powerbomb him. Then from nowhere Booker T comes off the top rope and hits Pillman with a leg lariet from the top! </p><p> </p><p> Pillman crashes to the mat and Knobbs quickly goes for the pin. 1! 2! 3! </p><p> </p><p> Solie: Pillman is eliminated! A ladder stands outside the ring playing Chekhov's Gun. Austin comes out swinging, which plays into Steamboat's game plan as the cagey veteran is methodical and deliberate with each attack and counter. </p><p> </p><p> Austin goes for clothesline. Steamboat cross-arm breaker. </p><p> Austin goes for gut kick. Steamboat catches and kicks Austin across the head. </p><p> </p><p> After Steamboat dodges an Austin punch and kicks him across the back, Steamboat goes for a quick elbow drop, but Austin rolls out of the way and retreats to his corner to gather himself. </p><p> </p><p> With a fresher idea, Austin slows the match down and locks up with Steamboat, which he turns into a sequence of a headlock, punch to the head, irish whip followed by a Thez press. Austin picks The Dragon up and gives a stiff whip into the ropes and hits a big clothesline. Austin follows with a big German suplex that just about splits Steamboat in two. </p><p> </p><p> The battle rages between the two in a similar back and forth fashion until Steamboat lands a massive kick to the Austin's head. With Austin sprawled on the mat, Steamboat climbs out and grabs the ladder. </p><p> </p><p> He sets the ladder up in the middle of the ring, but Austin knocks it over before hitting Steamboat with it. The ladder becomes a focal point of the attack of both men and seeming evening the playing field. Each competitor takes a turn in setting up the ladder to make the climb, only to have the other trump their attempt. Austin pushes the ladder over and catapults Steamboat into the ropes. Steamboat hits a belly-to-back suplex that knocks both men down. </p><p> </p><p> Solie: They're going to kill each other in there! That's the only way this match is going to end!</p><p> </p><p> Steamboat hits a swinging neckbreaker on to the ladder. Giving Steamboat the opportunity to open the ladder and make his climb, but he pauses and looks at the prone Austin. His face frowns, and it's clear he wants more than the title. He wants revenge. </p><p> </p><p> Heneen: Where is he going? All he has to do is grab the belt! </p><p> Solie: Steamboat climbs to the top of the ladder and steadies himself. He's going to jump! BUT AUSTIN'S UP!</p><p> </p><p> He catches Steamboat's head and brings the Dragon's jaw hard into his shoulder. I spent so much time building Hogan/Flair that I lost out on building up on the other feuds which hurt their scores, but all in all, it was worth it. Flair/Hogan is match of the year worthy and took a pretty solid PPV and gave it a "historic" feel. We’ll see what happens! </p><p> </p><p> As of writing this, I haven’t looked at the In Your House results, I’ll be interested to see how it compares! And I didn't to do just like everyone else with secondary tag titles, but needed something else, and chose the Six man Tag Belts. I also went ahead and used the WCCW ones because I think the history of that belt is cooler. Plus, they will play a key part in the allegory of the my theme.</p>

This Week in Wrestling</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="font-size:18px;">Bash at the Beach Fallout!</span></p><p>

So many questions! </p><p>

How will Funk handle Buck’s screwup?</p><p>

Who are these men that keep attacking Warrior/DBS? </p><p>

Are they affiliated with Vader? Did they help Hogan!?</p><p>

What does Flair have to say? </p><p>

Who’s next for Austin? Regal? And the tag team champions?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>What they’re saying following Bash:</strong></p><p>

Many are calling the mega-PPV amazing and actually living up to the hype. The buy rate was 3.02 and saw a sell out of 75,000 people filling the orange bowl. People will be youtubing this main event in years …. Whatever that is. </p><p> </p><p>

The event saw WCW’s popularity rise in 15 regions!</p><p>

</p><p><strong>

Contracts:</strong></p><p>

Contract extensions have been handed out to Cactus Jack and Ron Simmons. Shanghai Pierce, Terry Taylor and Erik Watts are not being handed new contracts. </p><p> </p><p>

And apparently WCW is letting the unused contract of Mr. T expire… no explanation from management was available as to why he was never used. (Editor’s note: *shrugs*) </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>What’s going on up North?</strong></p><p>

In Your House was held in San Antonio to a sellout crowd of 30,000 (editor note: the Alamo dome holds more than 30k. Not sure why this is set so low). </p><p> </p><p>

The response is pretty good, but nothing to write home about. (B rating) The main event saw Jeff Jarrett, Barbarian and Shawn Michaels d Randy Savage, Undertake and Lex Luger (EN: I don’t even know). Bret Hart defeated Diesel to retain the WWF title…. The on fire Yokosuka was left off the card. (EN: no clue.)</p><p> </p><p>

Their latest RAW from Long Beach California in front of 13,500 sellout crowd proved to be about as average as In Your House (Rating B). Diesel defeated Razor Ramon in the main event. Shawn Michaels defeated Lex Luger in a bust of a match (C+ rating, you’d expect more from your main eventers)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ratings War:</strong></p><p>

Raw maintained its 5.82 rating for the second straight week. </p><p>

WCW Saturday night dropped to 6.32 and maintained it’s 0.03 on DSF</p><p>
