bravesfan
In the 1980s, video tape trading and cable television paved the way for the eventual death of the NWA’s inter-regional business model, as fans could now see for themselves the pot holes and inconsistencies between the different regional storylines. Vincent K. McMahon used these gathering trends to turn the World Wrestling Federation into the first truly national promotion, including buying out NWA member Georgia Championship Wrestling and taking over GCW’s long-time TV slot on TBS. On top of this the massive success of WWF’s move into pay per view with WrestleMania made it apparent that the old days of wrestling were officially over, and that if the NWA wanted to survive then they’d have to get with the times. In early 1987, with the highly promoted WrestleMania III pay per view on the horizon the NWA announced that they would seek to be more than a governing body, they were going to be their own professional wrestling promotion. While the affiliate promotions would continue to exist the National Wrestling Alliance would begin promoting their own shows, including taking on an open timeslot on Ted Turner’s TBS station. Their intention was to be a viable competitor for the World Wrestling Federation and succeed. This is when the march back to glory began. LordJaguar
Interesting idea...I'm assuming that the JCP turned into this NWA? Curious to know if you're going to rescind all the NWA titles or allow them to be held by other companies?
