This is an issue with DPI. In Windows 7:

1) Right-click on the desktop and choose "Personalize"

2) In the lower left corner of the screen choose "Display"

3) Make sure text size is set to 100%. You have 3 options(100/125/150)

or

3) Click on "Set custom text size (DPI)" in the left menu then uncheck "Use Windows XP style DPI scaling".

Only use the bottom option if the entire game window fits on your screen. Otherwise you have to use a smaller text size because Windows magnifies the size of the game window. In older versions of Windows you have to use the 100% (96 DPI) setting. If you have a different version of Windows and can't find the setting let me know and I'll get exact instructions for that particular version.
