To be different, I sought a character which would fit in both the Marvel and DC Universes (although I am only using the DC for now). I decided to look through my comic book collection and picked a great character called Dark Claw! This character comes the collection which came from both Marvel and DC under Amalgam Comics. OriginEdit At the age of 5, after witnessing his parents' murder at the hands of an armed robber, Logan Wayne was sent to live with his uncle in Alberta, Canada. His uncle was a member of the Candian Mounties, and was ambushed and murdered by poachers a short time after his arrival in Canada. After the death of his uncle, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police sent Logan to live in a home run by nuns and as soon as he was old enough, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force, landing in the same outfit as Creed H. Quinn. Both Logan and Creed were submitted to the Weapon X project, the Canadian Super-Soldier program. It was here that Logan had adamantium bonded to his bones and he learned of his metamutant nature. Throughout the course of the project, the other subject, Quinn, became increasingly insane and would later become Dark Claw’s most dangerous foe, the Hyena. The Weapon X project was terminated due to its dual failure: Logan was ineffective as a weapon because he possessed a conscience, and Creed was criminally insane. The files were deleted and the existence of the program was utterly expunged with the exception of a few fragments of notes by a Professor Carter Nichols later uncovered by Ms. Huntress. After the collapse of the Weapon X program, Logan decided to fight crime to avenge his parents’ death. He spent years traveling the world, training himself to intellectual and physical perfection and learning a variety of crime-fighting skills, including criminology, forensics, martial arts, gymnastics, and disguise. Beyond academia, Logan acquired more "practical" skills. While abroad, Logan learned all 127 major styles of combat, from Aikido to Yaw-Yan. Frenchman Henri Ducard made him an apprentice in manhunting. The Ninja Clan Yoshinda schooled Logan in stealth and the ways of the shadow warrior. African Bushmen taught hunting techniques, while Nepalese monks revealed healing arts. He even studied ventriloquism from practitioners of the art. Logan Wayne To the world at large, Logan is an irresponsible, superficial playboy artist who lives off his family's personal fortune and the profits off the sales of his paintings. Secret identity Logan guards his secret identity well, as only his sidekick Sparrow (a combination of DC's Robin and Marvel's Jubilee ) and the Huntress know of his superhero alter-ego. However, his arch-nemesis, the Hyena (A combination of the Joker and Marvel's Sabertooth), also knows his secret as he was also a part of the Weapon X program which gave Dark Claw his adamantium skeleton and awakened his latent metamutant powers. Dark Claw also uses the name "Patch Malone" when going undercover; a combination of Wolverine's occasional disguise as the eyepatched "Patch", and Batman's undercover identity of "Matches Malone". A city that never sleeps sees yet another social gathering for the rich and the well to do businessmen. The Gotham Socialite Club is the setting for this party, and it is spiffed up to the nines as all of the rich eligible bachelors seemingly parade around all of the adoring ladies. A familiar figure walks away from three ladies. Of course the ladies talk after he leaves.</p><p> </p><p> Lady 1-"WOW! I can't believe we just talked to Bruce Wayne! BRUCE WAYNE! I can die happy now!"</p><p> </p><p> Lady 2-"I know girl! He is handsome! AND RICH!"</p><p> </p><p> Lady 3-"Hey guys! I see someone I have never seen before! get ready for the show ladies!"</p><p> </p><p> All Three-"Hehehe!"</p><p> </p><p> The gentleman comes up and starts talking.</p><p> </p><p> Unknown Man-"Hello ladies. Nice party you have here."</p><p> </p><p> Lady 1-"Thanks! You're new here, are you not?"</p><p> </p><p> Man-"Why yes! Yes I am."</p><p> </p><p> Lady 2-"Well let me be the first to welcome you to Gotham City! My name is Trixie!"</p><p> </p><p> Lady 3-"And I am Darla! Hi!"</p><p> </p><p> Darla extends her hand. The man, being a true gentleman, promptly kisses her hand, making the girl nearly swoon!</p><p> </p><p> Lady 1-"And I am Kellie! And you are?"</p><p> </p><p> Man-"My name is Wayne! Logan Wayne!"</p><p> </p><p> Trixie-"Logan Wayne? Any kin to Bruce Wayne perhaps?"</p><p> </p><p> Logan-"No, no. No kin to Mr. Wayne. Although I do get that a lot! If you ladies will excuse me, I must be going."</p><p> </p><p> Darla-"Now? But the party is just getting started!"</p><p> </p><p> Logan-"Call it...jet lag! Ladies!"</p><p> </p><p> As he leaves the building, the ladies gossip about Logan Wayne now. No matter. Logan gets into his Jag and speeds off to an unknown part of Gotham City. Going up a winding road in the woods, he comes to a rather rustic house where he is met by his companion.</p><p> </p><p> Jubilation Lee-"Well Mr. Logan! While you were out getting your groove on I was here working my fingers to the bone trying to turn this dump into a home!"</p><p> </p><p> Logan-"Will you just shut up and get ready? I think we need to go out on patrol!"</p><p> </p><p> Jubilation Lee-"Why? You caught a fish?"</p><p> </p><p> Logan-"No! But Gotham is not being guarded right now! Call it a hunch! Get geared up!"</p><p> </p><p> And with that, Logan and Lee head to the basement where gadgets are set up and they make their change into their alter egos...DARK CLAW AND SPARROW!</p><p> </p><p> Sparrow-"Now that's what I'm talking about! Dark Claw goes out as Logan Wayne for a little fact finding mission. Going into one of the many social clubs littered around, Logan sits near a couple of guys who seem that they did not belong.</p><p> </p><p> Man 1 (Speaking to Man 2)-"So is what I hear true about the cold guy?"</p><p> </p><p> Man 2 (in response)-"Yeah! Something really big is going down soon! I dunno what it is, but I'm sure it's big for him to be involved!"</p><p> </p><p> Man 1-"But what about The Bat? Ain't he gonna stop it?"</p><p> </p><p> Man 2-"That's why it being done hush hush like! So Bats won't have a clue!"</p><p> </p><p> Logan gets up as if he is going to the end of the bar and bumps into the second man!</p><p> </p><p> Man 2-"HEY! LOOK WHERE YOU'RE GOING BUDDY!"</p><p> </p><p> Logan-"Sorry fella! Didn't mean nothing by it! Come on and let me by you a beer!"</p><p> </p><p> Man 2-"Thanks fella, but I gotta get somewhere! But watch it next time!"</p><p> </p><p> As Logan watches the man leave, he leaves out of a side door and radios Sparrow.</p><p> </p><p> Logan-"Sparrow! I'm heading back! I think I have something!"</p><p> </p><p> Sparrow-"We going swinging tonight then?"</p><p> </p><p> Logan-"Not we! ME! I'm going alone tonight!"</p><p> </p><p> Sparrow-"HUMPH!"</p><p> </p><p> Logan-"I'll make it up to you later kid!"</p><p> </p><p> After arriving back at the hideout, Logan heads to the lower basement where he sees Sparrow.</p><p> </p><p> Sparrow-"So who you got?"</p><p> </p><p> Logan-"All I heard was that a cold guy was planning something big!"</p><p> </p><p> Sparrow-"So how do you know where this man is?"</p><p> </p><p> Logan-"I planted a radio on him! (switches on a radar) I't working perfectly! Don't wait up kid!"</p><p> </p><p> After changing to Dark Claw, Logan heads to the alleys where he sees the guy he has been tailing.</p><p> </p><p> Dark Claw-(dropping down from a rooftop)-"Where you going buddy!"</p><p> </p><p> Man (looking frightened)-"HEY! WHO ARE YOU? YOU'RE NOT THE BAT? WHERE DID YOU COME FROM?</p><p> </p><p> Dark Claw-(grabbing the guy by the collar)-WHO IS THE COLD GUY AND WHAT IS HE PLANNING! TALK NOW!</p><p> </p><p> Man-"I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!"</p><p> </p><p> Dark Claw-"OH, REALLY? LET'S SEE ABOUT THAT!"</p><p> </p><p> Suddenly Dark Claw takes to the air with the creep in tow up ten flights and hangs him upside down in an attempt to get him to talk!</p><p> </p><p> Dark Claw-"HERE'S YOUR ONE AND ONLY CHANCE! NOW TALK! WHO IS THE COLD GUY!</p><p> </p><p> Creep-"ALRIGHT! I'LL TALK! THE COLD GUY IS MR. FREEZE!"</p><p> </p><p> Dark Claw-"MR. FREEZE? WHO IS MR. FREEZE?!"</p><p> </p><p> Creep-"I DUNNO! ALL I KNOW IS HE IS PLANNING SOMETHING BIG! BUT THAT'S ALL THAT I KNOW! I SWEAR! HONEST!"</p><p> </p><p> Dark Claw then ties the creep up and leaves him ten stories above the ground!</p><p> </p><p> Creep-"HEY! DON'T LEAVE ME HERE! BATMAN WOULDN'T DO THAT!
