SPW News Update: Aubry Morin was arrested a week before Saturday Night Showdown 5. He was released on bail and will make the show.

Saturday Night Showdown 5 at Rainbow Bar & Grill

Saturday August 13, 1920

Presented by Southern Pro Wrestling

Attendance: 71

To start the show owner Don Loomis gets in the ring to make a public announcement for the wrestlers. He makes it clear that anyone interfering in a match, using weapons during a match, or attacking someone after the match will be fined or suspended. Clearly Loomis is tired of the current state of matches. [E-]

Eric Frye vs. Bartlett Fortin w/Allan Borden

After the speech, Bartlett Fortin and Allan Borden chased a bum out of the back who had obviously been steeling the catering food for the event. Don Loomis decides to make a match of it. The match was back and forth and showed that this bum may actually have some talent. After a solid match the bum picks up with win with a flash pinfall. @ 6:19 [F+]

Don Loomis tells him to meet him after the show about possibly being hired. The owner heads to the back while Bartlett Fortin and Allan Borden circle in like birds of prey. They quickly stomp down Eric Frye. Obviously he hasn't been hired yet so no rules were broken. Welcome to the big leagues Mr. Frye. [F]

Shane Crane vs. Aubry Morin

Morin comes out to the ring and the crowd boos, as he taunts Shane Crane, calling for the trash to come out so he can take it out. Crane comes out but it doesn't seem like he can get control of the match, seeming a bit off tonight. Morin kills any momentum Crane tries to muster allowing Morin to pick up the pinfall win @ 6:26 [F+]

Bradly Hogan comes out the ring to remind the crowd to watch this match carefully because what happens tonight is what is going to happen to Bailey Frye when he gets a hold of him. [F]

Emilio Suarez vs. Bradley Hogan

Bradley Hogan used his power to counter Emilio Suarez, however Suarez wasn't going down without a fight. Moving around and using his speed, it was getting obvious that Suarez was tiring out Hogan. However Hogan finally gets a grip on Suarez and hit him with a Powerslam hard into the mat. Suarez appeared to be badly injured and the match is stopped by the referee, Corey Burkman, @ 7:57 [E-]

After the match, Bradly Hogan celebrates flexing his muscles while Emilio Suarez is carefully removed from the ring. [F]

Fredrich Herzog vs. The Moonshine Connection (Bartlett Fortin & Allan Borden)

Fredrich Herzog comes out having asked for this match to show that he is still a dominated National Champion, despite the tag team match losses. The Moonshine Connection however seems to have other plans. They are doing fairly well in this match, using their advantage to overwhelm Herzog. Eric Frye makes his way to the ring again, distracting Bartlett Fortin. This allows Herzog to isolate Allan Borden and pick up the pinfall win @ 7:49 [F+]

After the match Fredrich Herzog celebrates in the ring while The Moonshine Connection chases Eric Frye to the back. [F]

Saita Kuroki vs. Joe Boone w/ Shane Crane

for #1 Contendership for the SPW Heavyweight Championship

This match is one of the two big matches on the card. Winner gets to take on Levi Andrews for the SPW Heavyweight Title. The match is quite back and forth. Though the longer the match goes the more it looks like Saita Kuroki wont last, as he gets tired with each minute. Slowly Joe Boone starts to gain ground. Out of desperation Kuroki bodyslams Boone and pins him. Fearing Boone will lose, Shane Crane interferes in the match, breaking up the pin. Seeing this, Corey Burkman disqualifies Boone, giving Kuroki the win @ 9:50. [E-]

After the match Joe Boone looks angry and puzzled at the same time at, Shane Crane. Both of them have words, as Don Loomis comes out. Loomis tells Crane that he has been suspended for one month. Crane then tells Loomis to take his suspension and shove it, he quits. [F+]

The Alliance (Daniel Evans & Sir Anthony Henry) vs. The Professionals (Levi Andrews & Laurent David)

For the SPW Tag Team Championship

Not wanting to get suspended or loose pay...or more importantly the match, The Professionals play to the rules for a match. It starts out quite back and forth and a great show for the first ever Tag Team Title Match. Both tag teams are well oiled machines, but something had to give. Sure enough Laurent David got cornered in the other side of the ring from his partner. Isolated, The Alliance picked him apart. Daniel Evans picked up the pinfall win @ 13:27 making them the first ever SPW Tag Team Champions. [E-]

Final Show Rating: E-

Monthly Profit: $4,174

Show Predictions:

Psycho Sam: 2/4 (8/10 all time)

Southern Pro Wrestling would have it's first big issue with Aubry Morin running a foul of the law. Craig Thomas talked with him before the show and it seemed Morin was regretting his problem which was good for them. There were plenty of issues with the roster and they didn't need more. Shane Craine's backroom issues reached there limit as well. After starting a fight with a fan, arguing with staff about his push, and complaining about doing scripted segments, his time with SPW was numbered. He was released after the fifth show with over a year and a half on his contract. Eric Frye was signed to replace him. Although he was a decent wrestler he debut gimmick didn't go over well with the crowed. The show itself was a good one being another 70+ attendance show.

Meanwhile their sixth show in August brought in the most fans ever up to that point, packing 81 into the Rainbow Bar & Grill. The only question left was December was coming up close. Did they want to plan something for the end of the year? Something big.</p>

I was trying to think of a way that The Moonshine Connection could win, but with that storyline tied into the evolution of Boone's character I couldn't at that point. Other than that yeah the storyline between Hogan and The Witch Doctor was stinking up the joint and I wanted it to end. Problem now is I only have one active storyline and a bunch of wrestlers I don't know how I want to make storylines for yet so we will see how it goes now.

Saturday Night Showdown 8 at Rainbow Bar and Grill

Saturday November 13, 1920

Presented by Southern Pro Wrestling

Attendance: 63

The Garbage Men (Allan Borden & Bartlett Fortin) w/ Aubry Morin vs. The Alliance (Daniel Evans & Sir Anthony Henry)

The match has Allan Borden & Bartlett Fortin with their new partner Aubry Morin in their corner. The question is if Morin's coaching had helped probably one of the poorest tag teams pick up the non-title win against the SPW Tag Team Champions. Early on The Alliance looked to have a grip, but The Garbage Men held their ground and push back. The momentum moved back to The Alliance till Bartlett Fortin picked up the pin with help from the ropes @ 10:27 [E]

After the match the three men celebrate in the ring. The question is can they do it with the title on the line? [E]

Saita Kuroki vs. Emilio Suarez

The match was looking like a solid match and much changed. Emilio Suarez seems to have finally recovered from his injury from two months ago. Out of nowhere though, Aubry Morin comes into the ring and attacks Saita Kuroki, costing Suarez the match by disqualification @ 7:54. [E]

After the match Aubry Morin goes taunts Saita Kuroki, provoking him into a fight. Saita Kuroki calls Morin's number and the staff is left to have to break up the fight. [F-]

6-Man Elimination Match

for #1 Contendership for the National Title

Joe Boone vs. The Masked Fan vs. Laurent David vs. Levi Andrews vs. Chevy Andre vs. The Witch Doctor

Don Loomis starts out the main event by explaining the place of elimination will determine who gets the shot at the National Title. Contendership slots from this match can be traded among players or put on the line in matchs. The winner of this match will get the first shot at the National Title. Joe Boone showed strong along with The Masked Fan and Chevy Andre.

Breakdown:

Most Eliminations: Joe Boone (3)

Order of Elimination: The Witch Doctor, Laurent David, The Masked Fan, Levi Andrews, Joe Boone

Winner: Chevy Andre @ 19:50

[E-]

The show ends with Chevy Andre celebrating his shot at Fredrick Herzog next month. [F-]

Overall Raiting: E-

Profit for Month: $2,409

Quick Picks:

Psycho Sam: 2/3 (17/20 all time)

To make the show a big event Thomas, Loomis, and Norris decide to put all of the titles on the line. It seems like it would be the best way to go about it. This is the first time it had ever happened since the Tag Team Title was added. A lot was also on the line to make this good numbers wise too. While the company was still hot, its attendance numbers had been sinking. After an all time high for the year of 81 back in September, the company's numbers were in a slump despite putting on some solid shows. The question was would this do the trick?
