The Year is 1991, and the letters M M and A combined held really no meaning in the world. That was until a businessman by the name of Scott Summers was taking a routine business trip to Japan. While there he stumbled upon an add about an International Shootfighting League, where 2 men were set inside a ring to commence in epic battle. After the very first fight, Summers knew that he had to start his very own organization back home in the USA, and he knew this brand of technicality and violence would be a hit back in the states

With that, the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) was opened.

Exclusive Interview- by Bobby Drake

http://imageshack.us/a/img23/8162/oi3e.jpg

Bobby- Ey oh! It's the Iceman here Bobby Drake from the newly opened website Blurcat.com where we will have all the fighting news you could ever want or need compiled in one place! I'm here with the man himself Scott Summers, new owner and booker for GAMMA. Now Scott can you tell us what exactly Gamma is?

Scott- First off I just want to thank you Bobby for having me here today, I hope the partnership between GAMMA and blurcat will be a productive one. Now the answer to your question. The Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts is a brand new idea that I came up with while watching a shootfighting event in Japan. Basically we are putting two men in a cage, no escape, and they are given 15 minutes to use whatever skills they have to try and either knockout, or make their opponent give up.

Bobby- Wow! That's intense chief. So is it really anything goes?

Scott- We will be following the new Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts, which prohibits things such as eye gouging, low blows, and stuff of that nature. But anything kind of strike, kick, knee, or submission hold will be completely legal.

Bobby- What if no one wins?

Scott- If the 15 (30 minute in the case of title matches) limit is exceeded the result will be a draw for both of the fighters.

Bobby- So what kind of fighters can we expect too see in GAMMA?

Scott- I've already compiled a list of former wrestlers, kick boxers, boxers, and other disciplines and I'll be making calls to them soon. You can expect to see quite of bit flavor in the fighting styles, as well fulfilling our global aspect by signing fighters outside of the USA.

Bobby- Wow you really got me interested now. Say is it too bright in here? I see you are still wearing your sunglasses...

Scott- No No, just sensitive eyes, you won't see me without my trusty shades. And if you do... well lets just say you don't want to.

Bobby- Uhmmm, creepy. But your the boss...

Scott- It is a bit cold in here though...

Bobby- You know the Iceman likes to keep things chill chief! Anything else you would like to add?

Scott- Just that you can expect to find all of our new signings right here on Blurcat in the days and weeks ahead, and we are shooting for a March date for our first event, so keep your eyes peeled, and we can't wait to bring you the most athletic spectacle in history!

Bobby- I can't wait Scott! and that's all the time we have here today folks, this is the Iceman Bobby Drake signing off.

Mon Wk 2 Jan- UPDATE

We would like to announce the first offical fighter GAMMA has hired to their roster, and boy is he a big one.

Weighing in at 250+ pounds and sporting a 6'6 frame the 29 year old Jack Cobblepot has become the first official member of the GAMMA Roster.

Jack is a Phoenix, Arizona native who has been running grappling contest in his home state, amassing a 1-0 record in those sanctioned events. He comes into the cage in hopes of using his bulk to bully his opponents around and make a huge splash at the the first GAMMA event.

http://imageshack.us/a/img703/3876/da8j.jpg

Tue Wk 2 Jan- UPDATE

Big day for GAMMA as an additional four fighter have been signed to contracts.

29 year old Second generation Professional boxer 'Knock Out' Nigel Malley!

http://imageshack.us/a/img43/6457/unqi.gif

You may know of Malley, who makes his home in Baton Rogue, Louisiana from the professional boxing circuit. Son of former champion contender Roger Malley, Nigel looks to bring his impressive boxing skills into a new sport. Though he has never grappled and it's doubtful he even knows any submissions, he will be relying on his lighting fast handspeed and precision striking to beat down his opponents.

31 year old wrestling guru Vincent Chapin

http://imageshack.us/a/img196/8225/v62z.gif

Chapin comes out of L.A as an accomplished wrestler both collegiately and in local wrestling exhibition matches. A high-school standout, Vincent went on to be a 2 time NCAA Division 1 for UCLA in the late 70's, and is hoping those skills are still sharp enough for him to make it in Mixed Martial Arts.

The last two signings are two not so gentle men with a brawling background coming to us from across the pond.

27 year old brawler 'Violent Conduct' Mick Curran

http://imageshack.us/a/img35/9586/x29.gif

Curran is hard hitter who his making his debut on the competitive scene. He is known for his awesome punching power, and his going to be leaning heavily on that in order to destroy his opponents the only way he knows how...violently!

28 year old Sprawl and Brawler 'Mr. Saturday Night' Phil Verdigree

http://imageshack.us/a/img42/5424/y8p.gif

Verdigree has been a fighter since his youth, competing in amateur boxing competitions throughout the United Kingdoms. He is known for his trusty left hook and iron chin which will fare him well inside the cage. Less tactical is his love of beer and junk food which leaves him in not so great shape, but his toughness should never be underestimated.

-- Exlusive with Jack Cobblepot

Welcome back to the Freezer, I'm your host Bobby Drake and we have a world exclusive interview with the very first member of the GAMMA organization Jack Cobblepot!

Bobby- Welcome to the show Jack!

Cobblepot- My pleasure Mr.Drake.

Bobby- So this whole idea of Mixed Martial is brand new too a lot of folks. What drew you to the brand new sport?

Cobblepot- Well Bobby, I've never been the type a man to turn downa fight. Bossman Scott gave me a call after he had heard we was settin' up grappling contest in the Phoenix area. Called and I'll tell ya what he said Bobby, he said to me "Mr. Cobblepot, heard you were a tough guy, I'm getting some other tough guys and throwing a couple of them in a cage at a time and giving them 15 min to beat the holy crap out of each other." Now all of that was spinnin' around this big head of mine and he says, "Oh, there will also be money involved."

Bobby- Getting paid is always nice!

Cobblepot- And gettin' paid for fighting?! Ain't no way I was about to turn down an offer like that down.

Bobby- So Mr. Summers calls, give you the perfect pitch, and you say you're in. Did you know at this time you were the only person on the roster at that time?

Cobblepot- We didn't really get into the details like that, but lemme tell ya it's an honor. I always been big, and the big guy don't always get picked first in gym class, so this was a nice change of pace.

Bobby- Do you feel being that being the first person signed, you are going to make the biggest impact in the sport?

Cobblepot- Well I sure as all hell hope so Bobby, lemme tell ya I can't wait to get inside that cage and give everyone an old fashion barn burner.

Bobby-[/b] Well all of us fight fans can't wait! We've got time to squeeze in one more question. What's the news on the first event and do you know what we can expect?

Cobblepot- Haha, well that's the question isn't it! Bossman told me to keep it under wraps, but I can tell you now there will a big shiny belt given out at the end of the night, and you can bet your last dollar that the belt is gonna be around this XL waist.

Bobby- Big words, from well...an extremely big man! That's all for today, this is the Iceman coming too you from The Freezer and until next time, stay cool friends!
